  2. I am right there with ya Sky,,,, Roller = AR-10 in 308!! Soooo much FUN!! Super light weight, got all kinds of really cool add on stuff to play with if your so inclined.. Binary Triggers (goes bang when ya pull and bang when ya release LOL), Drum Feed, multiple sighting arrangements with the right furniture, EASY to clean, easy to change calibers or swap out barrels.. CHEAP to shoot AND you can get TRACERS still very reasonable..
  3. We had them too brother = GREAT memories!! Also remembering the MOUNTAINS of cheap 7.62x39 Chinese SKS's with bayonettes and cleaning kits for about the same price (89 bucks) and CRATES of ammo for 60 bucks a pop.. I went thru several of those SK's myself but never did find an accurate one..
  4. VERY INTERESTING!! Yep,, as always, I think this group of lop eared lead tossing varmints are onto it Bossman.. Looks like that particular model is fairly doable on Gunbroker = https://www.gunbroker.com/All/search?Keywords=type%2099. Also appears that, as mentioned, the ammo for that puppy starts at $1.40 each https://ammoseek.com/ammo/7.7x58mm but still totally available if ya ever did decide to touch one off.. WAYYYYYYY cool on the other personal WW2 memories from Eileens father - just amazing what those soldiers went thru in their effort to support the cause of freedom = THANK YOU SIR (and Godspeed/RIP as I was just reading about your passing)!
  5. If you decide to part it out I may be interested in the stickers on the hood Glad no one was injured brother!!
  6. and the HAPPIEST of New Years right back at you brother!! Indeed,, HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020 TO ALL!!!
  7. Hearing this is a heart breaker my friend!! Please let your wife know that Tip and I are praying for you folks.. We have been thru some trying times too here as of late, a grandchild in for some surgery and my Mom ending up in a nursing home but NOTHING like you two are dealing with. As you and I both know, God is gracious and never gives more than we can handle. Lean on Him for comfort during your grieving and may His presence keep you both during this extremely difficult time. You and Eileen are loved and treasured my brother!!
  8. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!!!! Not only is it purdy,, it's got that "Bond,,, James Bond" look to it ... I cannot WAIT to see it FLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY @Flyinfool ! Point it toward Michigan and pull the trigger:missingtooth:
  9. WOWZY WOW WOW WOW,,,, youuuu bandit brother of mine!!! Glad to see/hear your still in the testing/review business and those folks at Ultimate are treating you so well!! Stock bike, no add on's, no high output stator or nothing fancy like that,,, I am guessing that if you stay under 80 to maybe 100 watts of additional output demand you should be ok.. This may sound enemic but actually, the RSV's, IMHO, come from Mom Yam with not much room for excess in OEM form.. Far superior to my MK1's but still enemic with a max output of about 350 watts.. To put it in perspective,,, Yamaha DOUBLED that output on the new SVTC (by running dual alternators though,, which cost in HP loss from the original 113 inch mtr) and rightfully so as, you are discovering, the stator output has always been the Ventures soft point (again, IMHO). Knowing your love for CTFW and how spoiled you are with Ultimate letting you keep all the goodies they send for testing (if they start doing this with bikes - PLEASE remember who your favorite VR brother is if/when your new garage gets to the over flow point ) ,, you may want to consider an upgrade to a high output Stator and regulator so you know your covered if you choose to run all the goodies at once. Hope this helps @VentureFar and CONGRATS on the early Christmas presents from you favorite new brother and others at Ultimate!! On a side note,,, you gonna get a shot at testing the new Indian Challenger? Rumor has it at over 100 horsies at the rear wheel!! Could be a handful of a Stallion if it is :guitarist 2: 20 degree's and snowing like crazy here.. Tip sends her love and is taking EXCELLENT care of me as my hibernation mode is kicking in strong.. Got another grandkid coming in California in February and one coming here in Michigan in Jan:happy34:... :bighug:to you and yours!! Puc
  10. ,, BAD TO THE BONE !!! ,, not saying the video of the guy crossing the bridge is not for real but his face in the helmet looks a little video gameish to me,,, probably just my poor old eyes getting blurry just watching him
  11. Soooo glad you are doing better Rich!! PRAYERS UP for continued recovery brother!! Back/neck pain related to spinal issues is absolutely NO FUN and nothing to fool with!! Way it happened to me: Car/deer accident in 03 left me in a wheel chair with MAJOR sciatic pain down legs and numbness/tingling in arms/hands. Primary care Doc starts me on opioids for pain, helps a lot, and sends me to therapist (Chiropractor) to begin accessment of damages. 6 months later, after regular adjustments/spending time on stretching table and on and on,,, Chiropractor recommends visit to a Neuroligist to get a look. Neuro Surgeon was miffed that I was not sent to him right away. Recommends surgery to remove fractured pieces of facia joints on my L5/Sacreum and realignment of my spine (spine was resting on edge of sacreum by 1/4 of an inch so it was "S" shaped instead of straight connection.. Neuro Surgeon upped my opioid script to Fentynal Patch.. Nasty stuff those opioids are,, they really worked for pain management BUT - WOWZY do they dry out the poop action = poopen BRICKS is an understatement plus permanent bowel issues! YES - as mentioned, weight loss is mandatory for low back repair - the Doc made me loose 50 pounds to assist in healing. 5 back surgeries and 1 neck surgery, 1 year in body cast and back on my feet . The fracturing of the facia was only findable by MRI and a good Neuro Surgeon as Chiropractor and Primary completely missed the tiny elements of bone fragments and only the Neuro found them.. Neuro told me that was common and that just the slightest scraping of bone against nerves in the spinal bundle can result in permanent damage.. I did live on opioids for 3 years after surgeries.. They did try electrical stimulus (they run a small wire with little copper electrodes on it) along the spine with an under skin controller. IT WAS AMAZING to be able to dial away pain. Regrettably, the length of the wire was only 8 inches so it could not manage both lower and upper back (could not reach my neck). I used it for 1 year but it did nothing for my arms/hands. Removed the electrical and back on the Fentynal Patch. Eventually weaned off the Fentynal and on to Norco (class higher than Vicodin).. Jumping from Fentynal to Norco proved to be alarming,, found out I was a junky... Went into withdrawels BIG TIME.. Made a vow to get off the opioids and find a way to work with the pain. Had permanent "drop foot" and hand numbness but as I worked off the Norco withdrawels (tough stuff) discovered that if I was careful about what I lifted and stayed off the MX tracks (Neuro Surgeons face was when he saw my first MRI's and asked "what have you done to your back = there is not ONE vertebre that is square shape, there all rounded off = did not laugh when I told him of my love for MX'n and that those early bikes with 2 inches of suspention probably didnt help in my spines survival = NO MORE DIRT BIKES was a promise he made me shake on:missingtooth:) I could now do ok with just over the counter stuff.. By the way,, the sciatic nerve pain in my legs was like having a camp fire going on them 24/7,, I know EXACTLY what you are talking about! Personally I can not stand what misuse of opioids have done in peoples lives - they are potent and addictive. On the other,, I TOTALLY understand the importance of such RX when it comes to pain management.. It's a double edge sword to say the least..
  12. That's sad Duey,, maybe some VIP at Kawi needs lunch money ... A Kawi contact is definitely in order brother!! Not to your here (character flaw on my part) but I just gotta toss this in.. We have a Moen kitchen faucet that has decided to leak at its base.. It's handle has also managed to get tighter over time.. While looking at parts availabilty locally, it was suggested that I contact Moen to inquire about warranty...My response was "on a 20 year old faucet - yeahhh, right".. Noticing the "cartridge" for the faucet was 20 bucks and being a cheap old geezer = ok,,, worth a try.. Called Moen and got the BEST of the BEST customer service I have EVER experienced! COMPLETE rebuild supplies on their way (the phone call was yesterday morning and I already have a shipping confirmation from Moen/USPS) all under warranty!! Duey,, I am thinking the folks at Kawi could learn some things from Moen!

    What the

So Tip and I pull into the gas station on Tweeks. A couple little kids across the fuel island were outside their parents van tossing party poppers onto the pavement and enjoying watching them go BANG as the poppers hit the pavement.. I walked over calmly and explained to them what kind of issues could prevail should one of the sparks from a popper ignite some gas fumes.. One of the parents corrected me for correcting their off spring..

  15. I'm with ya Casey, matter of fact I often wonder if the next big move in the industry will not be something along the line of an affordable Hybrid Gas/Electric. Something that is tourable and durable with 140 horse combined knocking down 100 plus MPG.. Even those though would still be open to the dangers of the roads that are a discouragement to the current and upcoming - fooling with electronics while driving generation.. What heck, what da hay,, maybe the next 'new ride' that catches on will be one that levitates or buzzing around in drones..

    My 1200

All good advice so far IMHO. I know it's fairly easy to misplace a wire leading to either post on the battery when doing a replacement,, there isnt always a lot of room to play with when connecting things back up.. I would look very closely and make sure I didnt miss a wire on the reconnect too..
  17. WOWZY WOW WOW WOW,, WELCOME BACK BROTHER and WITH A BRAND NEW SCOOT TOO!!! You da man!!! Did cha buy the Bosses? I know his was up for sale and still brand new cause that lop eared varmint dont ride no more By the way, it's the same old place with the same old abiding by the rules of the Code: :big-grin-emoticon:
  18. Got mine in my stack of mail!!!! THANK YOU JIM!! Miss you BONGO!!
  19. G&V, THANK YOU for posting this thread up,, it tied up some more loose ends for me in understanding stuff..
  20. Sure.. Also when you replace the needle and/or seat with new the float height should be checked as a tiny little bit of difference in the new parts dimensions can raise float level too.. It's always best to check the float height anytime you button up a carb bowl even if you just opened it to clean jets... Better to know than wonder
  21. INDEED,, Happy Thanksgiving to all!! And an early MERRY CHRISTMAS just in case Tip and I are out of town during the festivities (got more grand babies coming soon,, YEEEEEHAW!!)!!!
  22. What a WONDERFUL way to spend Thanksgiving brother!! I hope your heart is full of blessing from being a blessing to someone in need cause it should be!!!
  23. :sign yeah that: I'm a die hard Venture guy but have also had many HD's thru the years and done a fair amount of cross country riding them too (in my early years) and can vouch for the same.. Vouching for Flat Heads, Shovels, Evo's and Twin Cams, they (HD's) IMHO are not that much different than any scoot,, ya gotta spin a wrench here and there, keep up on maintenance and they are capable and very fun scoots. Of course, performance wise,, our V-4's are on a different planet but that is to be expected.. I know thru the years the majority of HD's headed to the big rally out in Sturgis that are being hauled instead of ridden has been greatly increased but I got a hunch that has more to do with the type of persons we have become (people don't tent camp like they used to) and less to do with the bikes themselves..
