  1. First of all I want to thank each and everyone of my family here for ALL the responses,,, whether written down in a reply or just a thought/prayer or both.. I had spoken with my father many times about my extended family on here. He was never into biking much but always thought it was neat that we had such a great group of friends all over the world.. Having never been thru the process of dealing with everything from writing an obituary to dealing with funeral homes and the like, this is a whole new deal for us.. I know my Dad is in a MUCH better place, being rid of the pain and suffering he had been going thru for so long,,,,,,,, I am happy for him but still in major grief.. My kids from California should be pulling in any second here,,, I am sure the tears are gonna start right back up again.. Tomorrow is detail day for Dads funeral on Monday (11 a.m.). Sunday is visitation, 2-4 and 6-8 at a Funeral Home here in Muskegon - we dealt with the detail of that today... Wow what tuff stuff.... Thank you again for all the tender support and encouragement.. I have read thru all the beautiful responses and can now relate to those who have responded with memories of going thru it,, this is hard stuff.. When I get a chance I am gonna try and post my Dads Obituary up,, or a link to it.. I really really wanna say,, what a great Dad I had,, he truly was a remarkable person in his own way.. We were different, he the athlete, me the rebel gearhead but somehow God gave me him for my Poppers.. We found a bond of enjoying the great outdoors together - a lot of hunting, fishing, camping.. That said,, it is amazing to me to now walk out in the fresh fall "Deer Season" air and feel his presence,, and can appreciate the comments written about exactly that! After I "grew up" (go ahead and laugh,, I KNOW he is) I had a long talk with him about my early years struggles,, he forgave me for my mistakes and I forgave him for some stuff too.. After that our relationship was grade "A"... It was so wonderful being able to hold his hand during those last few hours and KNOW that we had shared in something very special because of forgiveness,,, something that nothing can remove... Thanks again to each of you! Puc By the way,, anybody have any problem with me printing a copy of this thread off to share with my family?? Don (or Mods), is there a rule I would be violating by doing so??
  2. Just wanted jump on real quick and let all my family here know.. My dad (Norman) has not been well for a while now. We spent last evening with he and mom and things got worse.. I come from a large family of seven kids, by 3 a.m. all were there,, really tough stuff.. Thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated as we travel thru the grieving and turmoil of the funeral/burial.. I loved my Dad and am soooo happy that he is finally pain free.. He and Jesus were very close friends.. This is hard.. Thanks for the support gang.. Scott and Cheryl Barnhard (Puc n Tippy)
  3. Toy,, THANK YOU for the heads up!! This is the kind of stuff that makes our site special.. Are the models you are referring to all Turbo models and a problem only associated with Turbo Kia's? Sorry to hear about the issues you have had, best wishes in dealing with trying get some re-embursement!
  4. Thanks for all your hard work and for keeping us updated Don!! YOU are appreciated!! Now,, about the orphan files deleting thingy and complaining business,, I am gonna try and help out here.. I think we all agree that all orphan files should be deleted.. Especially ones with titles like YammerDan.crashnburn/harassmentexpert, Flyingfool.whitewash/rideruiner, Etcswjoe.troublemaker/potstirrer and any other files that should be in an orphanage, especially any with those types of suffixes.. If you would like some assistance in sorting them out I would be glad to help.. Having me do so would also help with the amount of complaints you will end up with as I will only delete the files that are orphans anyway so the only ones to complain will be like the following...
  5. Lunch time with fresh Smoked Salmon,, Prayers Up - Blessings Down!!
  6. Well,, I certainly see no mistake in anything you did Bob.. Sounds to me like you folks are developing the fine art of being a motorcycle family.. I think its AWESOME that you two evolved into each owning and riding the bikes... On the same note,, I would get a little squeemish if Tippy started down that path of wanting her own bike.. Not that I dont think she is capable,, I just know her well enough to know that somewhere in her plan would be the part where I end up on the back:rotf::rotf: CONGRATS ON THE NEW STEED!! Looking forward to some ride reports if ya get a chance... Oh,, by the way,, unwritten forum rules dictate, no , no :cool10:

    Pony

My 42 John Deer,,, still not sure how to hook up the implements on her Rob:detective: LOVE THAT PONY!!!!
  8. For a mild mannered genius who just created free power for the world I get NO respect!!
  9. Me and Tip,, we go way back and have a number of things in common.. We both love having Tweeks show us around the country and introducing us to new friends ,, both love being around our kids, both really like Banana Nut Ice Cream, we also like eating Sea Food and Fish Dinners at Long John Silvers (I like the Hush Puppies more than her though)... Speaking about fish,,, I wreak of it right now.. Strong enough that Tippy made me leave my fish smelling jeans and sweat shirt out in the garage to collect some fresh Michigan fall air before getting dunked into her wash machine.... Every year about this time I go and dance with the Salmon.. Unlike Kevin Costner performing his dancing with the wolves act, I tend to be less agile and romantic in my performance of Dancing With Salmon.. For me,, the dance is all about eating baked/fried Salmon or stuffing my tummy with Smoked Salmon Chowder... Unlike Mr Costner and his attempt at making friends with that wolf,, I could care less whether the Salmon I am dancing with like me or not.. Its been a long fall here in searching for dancing partners.. We have been watching the Lake Michigan/Muskegon lake channel entrance for 2 months,, very few dance partners came around earlier here, way down from usual.. The pro's around here blame last winters extreme tempts for the low turnout at the annual dance.. Some say the warm/cold/warm/cold weather is to blame.. I, on the other hand, have a hunch that the Salmon have taught their young about Puc - The Dancing With Salmon legend and that they simply bypass the stage entrance when choosing a channel to swim up.. I was speaking to another young actor down by the river not to long ago who shared with me his assumption that what we have are a bunch of Salmon who dont know whether to swim up stream or back out to the Big Lake.. This business of scraping ice off the cane pole one minute and the next minute wanting to take a dip in the dance waters to cool off would have me not knowing which direction to swim too,, if I were a Salmon instead of a Puc that is.. This fellow may have a point...... Well,, FINALLY, after I displayed about the same patience as most Venture Riders do during a homepage upgrade,, our dance partners started showing up.. One particular Salmon apparently didnt care for my bearded Costner look cause she slapped my face with her tail fins as she slid from between my fingers and back into the river.. She did slow down long enough to wipe her gills and eye lids on my sweatshirt and pants on her way down,,, I think thats where the fishy smell came from that caused Tippy to demand my pants and hoody stay in the garage.. The dance partners that decided to come home for dinner with me were not to displeased with being forced to ride in a tub with their friends.. If you look closely at them you will notice they all appear to be smiling.. This is good cause pretty soon I know I am gonna be smiling too cause after the smoker comes the Salmon Chowder that Tippy makes using fresh smoked Salmon... Unlike Costner and Dancing With Wolves, in Puc and Dancing With Salmon everybody goes home with a smile..

    Renewed

Way to go Bill!! Besides being a great friend who I finally got to meet this last year, you have also succeeded in maintaining a proper balance on VR.. Keeping it from being over run by Buckeyes, Eastern gangstas, Hilly billy's, Classic Kanucks and West Coast sun worshippers.. Us mild mannered Midwesterners gotta stick together ya know,,, maintaining a sense stability that only we can add..
  11. Jim, extremely sorry to read the news here but VERY VERY glad to read the two of you are ok!! Thoughts and prayers as the two of you go thru the healing process and also on the bike repair my friend.. Puc
  12. Hi MiRider,,, thanks again for helping to shore up the Michigan riders here on VR - lord knows we need some more representation - especially over here on the west coast!! Anyway,, I am with you on the not really being an extented warranty kinda guy.. I have been had a couple times on those plans ( electronics related) - seems like the people who write the things are nice and really like to take the money up front but play a different tune when its time to pay out.. I am also with Raggie though, if it could be had for less than 4 or 5 hundred, at least added 2 years with unlimited miles,,, yea I might go for it.. but I highly doubt that is the case.. I know these bikes are not perfect, that stopped when the last 1st Gen was produced:stirthepot:.. But I also know they are very close to bullet proof, reguiring only maintenance to derive a couple hundred thou of miles... Tell ya what I would do... I would put my extended warranty money into a "go to VR meet and greets/rallies and maintenance days" funds jar instead.. In the end your Extended Warranty monies will become an Extended Family Fund and the return on investment potential is far greater on the EFF (not necessarily in silver or gold - but, like Capt'n Sparrow said "not all treasure is silver or gold)... Welcome to VR and CONGRATS on the new bike!! Puc
  13. Sounds AWESOME Bob!!! in your endeavor to land the land!!!! Hard to believe your selling your scoot but totally understandable,, best wishes with your sale too my friend!!
  14. THAT is just flat out fantastic Painter!!! Day late and a dollar short for the hundreds of bikes I could have used that trick on,, I always did like Condor,, really fine steel wool.. I also used a lot of vinegar in rust removal around chrome joints then hit em with steel wool... I have never heard of this trick, will definitely give it a shot!!! Thanks partner!!! Puc
  15. That Skidder must have picked up a case of 2nd Gen Slowsteritous cause I beat em too.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LESLIE!!!
  16. Probably not the type of fellow you would want to have riding near you while touring with a group of riders either eay Dale..
  17. Just noticed this gentleman in the "New Member" area asking about info on an 05 he is thinking of purchasing.. I thought maybe his question would get better exposure here in the Watering Hole and, due to the upgrades we are undergoing, thought I would help him maybe get some info before we shut down again.. Here is the link gang.. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=868946&posted=1#post868946
  18. He will think he has those Harley vibes whooped until that single pin crank, viberating big twin viberates the pin loose between the bike and the chariot and bike takes off at highway speeds by itself and that little piece of electrical wire is all thats left securing the chariot to the bike.. Give a whole new meaning of being dragged by your horse I tell ya... I would ride it:cool10: Thru the first couple gears,,,,, 3rd maybe GREAT VID M6!!
  19. I was going crazy till I remembered Touring Hogs.. I just went over there and let my fingers have fun.... Looked around for any other mutineers,,, I even had time to stick the very first poll up on Touring Hogs searching for them... Ironically, there was only one other person who voted on the poll and he wasnt very nice at all, more of like the king of mutineers if ya ask me:rotf:... http://www.touringhogs.com/showthread.php?283-Did-you-come-to-Touring-Hogs-and-visit-while-VR-was-down All and all I had fun while the site was down but,,, be it ever so humble,,, there's no place like VR.. Thanks again for all your hard work Boss:backinmyday:!! Puc
  20. Nahhh,, went for way more than it was worth - to me anyway.. If you go back and look at the pics you will notice the primary cover had been off for a long time and lots of rust damage was the result.. Certainly repairable/restorable but.. Anyway,, here is the link to the actual auction of the bike It sold for 4500 bucks!!
  21. So,, the old guy at the auction called it a "writer target plane motor" used in WW2.. Did a little digging here and come up with a Righter Drone that fits its picture really well.. Pretty good shot here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radioplane_OQ-2 of Marilyn Monroe building one up - how cool is that!! The way the old guy explained it to me is that these things were basically a drone target used to teach soldiers to shoot and that most of these motors are in the bottom of the ocean... Bunch more pictures of the "Righter" that resemble the one in the auction vid found here,, https://www.google.com/search?q=righter+ww2+drone+engine&client=firefox-a&hs=XWG&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=sb&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=8mxMVM-LN42zyASLioGQBg&ved=0CB8QsAQ&biw=1366&bih=657 After reading your last post OldGoat,, I can also see where that little motor is a direct fit for the ultralight application,, almost sounds like what they did during WW2 was hook up some RC controls to an ultralight airplane and used em for target practice
  22. Oh wow brother,, that dont sound good at all,, talk about spooky... Want you to know Jeff you are in my thoughts and prayers... Hopefully the process wont take to long in finding the correct drug,,, just doesnt seem like it would be good for your heart to not be functioning fully... Also seems really weird that you didnt "feel" anything... My friend,, that doctoring business is complicated stuff... Please take care of yourself over there Fool!! Prayers Up!! Puc
  23. Man I dont know Motiv,, I think if I were you I would join now so after the change you can always say that you were a member before the very slow running Orange and Black color days:stirthepot:
  24. You may be right on the money Goat BUT I was told something way different... It appeared to me to be somewhat older in design than the era of snowmobiles,, the only reason I looked closer and thought that was my curiousity was peeked by that older gentleman.. In the end,, we may very well find out that you are right on the mark though!!
  25. So,, Gary got shined some light on the "hit n miss" coolness,, anyone into Airplanes and wanna take a shot at figuring one out? In the video, go to 3:40 and check out the little Airplane motor.. I got talking with an old gentlemen about this after the auction and he filled me in on what he thought it was all about - REALLY NEAT!! Anyway,, lets see if anyone of our members knows what it is and if that lines up with the story I got about it... Go to 3:40 in this vid...
