cowpuc replied to Eck's topic in Watering Hole
Check this out Eck,,, apparently they were HUGE!! http://www.pinterest.com/rodss67/gemini-maverick-mini-s/ They werent that big in our area - this place was REALLY big with the Honda's,, lots of Bonanzas and other "lawn mower motored" stuff too but the Mini Trails were everywhere after they came out... Few more from years gone by that you might appreciate... Wasnt long ago that I made a pretty good living doing these ol scoots up,,, talk about a RIOT!!! -

Neat O' Eckster,, l have ALWAYS loved the minibike restore routine and THAT is a dandy:banana:!! Here are a couple shots of a 1970 Taiwanese made "Maverick" that I redid a few years ago.. Being a sister bike to yours (Gemini made a copy of this,, I wouldnt be surprised that they came from the same factory), this was a real sweetheart too!! It was actually Yamaha's version of Honda Mini-trail z-50 of the day... This sported a Yammy motor that was completely stock Yam only had "Taiwan" stamps all over it.... LITTLE SUCKER WAS A SCREAMER COMPARED TO THE MINITRAIL!! Looks like you got yourself a fun project there - ENJOY!! -
Thats right folks,, I am hereby officially nominating Flyin-the ointment-Fool to the Guiness Organization for his latest efforts with his handmade, basement built machine and the obvious umphh that his homemade supercharger added... Congrats Fool,, unlike many many people here who cant appreciate the outcome of a fine man's madness, I SURE CAN:hihi:!! Click on this to read that which I refer to: http://www.weather.com/news/weather-winter/us-snow-cover-bozeman-astro-20141117 YOU DA MAN FOOL!!!

What is your winter project for this year?
cowpuc replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Watering Hole
Hey PB,, got something for ya to try on that windshield,,, really really cheap fix that I have used for years.. Walmart sells this product called Plast-x, it comes in a kit (more money) OR you can just by the kit refill for a few bucks.. The last time I bought it, it was a blue bottle in color.. Anyway, after trying many many things to resurrect an old scratched up windshield I finally found that stuff - it works great.. If you just get the refill bottle, go by the instructions on the bottle and DONT use it like wax (you gotta not let it dry before taking it off).. Use a clean, soft cloth to apply - stuff is down right amazing!!! Tweeks has her original 83 shield on her,, still does great as long as I stick with using the stuff a few times a year,,, should have seen the spider webbing and glare in it when I bought her!!! Worth a shot!!! -
Hey Ang,, dont know where your quoted price is from but these guys have some pretty good deals.... Best wishes getting her done!!
-
Soooooo,, gotta ask that almighty question,,,,,, DID YA GET EM?? Careful now Dac,, thats a "loaded" question - you been around long enough to know the forum rules,, no pic - it didnt happen...LOL

I AM SOOOOOOO GLAD YOU HAD THOSE SKILLS TUCKED INTO YOUR BAGGAGE AND ARE ABLE TO WRITE THIS THREAD TO US!! What you just went thru doesnt always end in such a pretty picture (these big ol scoots are a handful to ride down a flat on - specially when ya get below 20 mph) and when it does - I believe a great big pat on the back is earned my friend - here is one for you :clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2: Wish I was there,, I would help ya swap out the tire!!! I was sitting in the Hospital about 4 hours ago waiting for my next shot at the MRI machine.. While sitting there yapping with Tip I noticed our little Tablet sticking out of her purse.. I snuck it out, and logged onto VR (of course) and this thread was the first thing I noticed!! Talk about PERFECT timing Randy - THANK YOU!!! Upon reading that email I got thinking about allllllllll the times I said to my wife and kids throughout the years that we were going to sieze every moment cause they go by so fast,, in a blink - they are gone.. We chose to live large while we could,, so to speak.. That thought led Tip and I into a conversation about all the great memories we have created throughout the years,,, the family times, the things we do and have done and, of course,, all the great riding we are able to do together... We also yakked about the deep point in that email of how quickly the time has gone by and how cool it is that we actually are able to chose to do some pretty crazy stuff still,, as mentioned,, slower - little more painful at times - lose more stuff off the back of the bike and be more careful of what we eat BUT, as the letter says,,, keep going cause ya never really know when it may be over ... I reminded Tip of a recent article I had read about some guy complaining about guys in their midlife crisis stealing the "cool factor" from the "real" bikers.. How the writer had mentioned these posers going out, buying a new bike - biker clothes - taken the bike to a shop and had em install loud pipes all in an effort to be "cool" - somehow "stealing" the cool factor from the "real" cool bikers.. Than a couple years later, selling the bike and buying a Cage proving that the dude really was just a poser.. I told her that my response to that summation was: the guy the writer was speaking of may very well have spent his whole life raising a family, paying bills and now feels he has a small window of time to sieze a very special moment,, another chance to pursue happiness before time runs out and I saw nothing wrong with it... This is a really good thread Randy and perfect in timing!! Thank you for sharing this!!
-
Of course,, you KNOW I have been waiting patiently for this Boss Man!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! Being one of those complainers who is just never satisfied I gotta mention,, I noticed when I clinked "thank you" on your post that the "Like" icon went bye bye - is this just another one of those tricky things where we gotta choose whether we like the post but not enough to thank em?... Greedy little sucker aint I:shock3: You sure know how to spoil us chief!! P.S.,, I wanted to "like" your post too,, good thing I clinked on "thanks" first or you wouldnt have known how thankful I really am,,,,,,,, didnt want you to think I didnt like your post too,,,, its a freakin paradox,,, LOL

Beautiful piece of work there gentlemen!! THANK YOU!!!

Oh man B,, no idea how I missed this!! Hopefully you folks are having a blast out there if your still at it! I LOVE that area you just toured thru - IT IS GORGEOUS OUT THERE!! Would LOVE to see some pics of your journey!! Speaking of pics, your pic loading problems are probably pic size related.. I think I remember Don mentioning that this new site will handle a little bit bigger pic BUT,, my experience has been that 640x480 works the best for downloading/uploading with all this puter stuff.. On my computer, if I open my picture files, let the cursor sit on a pic - the computer will display the actual size of the pic.. I also know that my little camera that I take pics with has a "size" menu in it,, that 640/480 is usually found under "economy" and is where I take pics at cause I like to stick em on my computer... If your pics are to big, there is a way to resize em - you will have to get that info from some other genius cause this genius dont got no clue!! Hope all is well!! Puc

What is your winter project for this year?
cowpuc replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Watering Hole
Walkin on mighty thin ice there Sarge,,,, I happen to KNOW that there is a member here who is seeking out new targets to swivel the nozzles on his White Wash Machine towards and he do love a challenge:big-grin-emoticon:... I gotta head gasket I plan to have finished by spring, some work on my hands if possible (still gotta meet with that surgeon).. Speaking of Tweeks though,, she is only half my age, only 250k miles and pretty much still wet behind the ears,, so probably an oil change - new plugs, pull the slide covers and check some diaphram patches, sync the carbs again, maybe a new battery, oh yea need to do a headlight.. If I can get to it before my hand surgery - I have a new speedo from George and a new fuse panel from Squid I would like to swap out too... Now that I think of it,,, even if I only get my head gasket replaced and feel better by the time ride season returns, if I have to I could just take off next spring and do some of this stuff on the road - thats always fun.... Maybe even FINALLY make one of Don's MD's, pick up some oil and plugs,, take my headlight/speed o' and fuse panel along and let Tweeks mark her territory down at Oberlin while I spin some wrenches down yonder,,, after all,, some one's gotta teach that new Harley of Don's how to mark territory/pee in the woods and knowing ol Tweeks,, she would LOVE to do it!! -
WOW,, THANKS BOB FOR THE THOUGHT AND THE OFFER - THAT IS AMAZING!!! I sit here reading your response Bongo and it really really makes me wonder about some stuff... A famous poet once wrote: "The quality of mercy is not strained; It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven Upon the place beneath. It is twice blessed; It blesseth him who gives, and him who takes: Within the context of this poem is found a multiplier of the act of being merciful.. This poem uses the multiplier of 2.. Bongo,,,, your response here forces me to question whether or not true mercy is bound by the perimeter of the x2 multiplier.. It almost seems like that multiplier has the potential for being indefinite.. For instance,, I know that I am blessed richly by just your offer, much less the fact that I may actually need to accept that offer and be personally blessed again.. I also know that Lewis is blessed by just your offer,, I also think that some how every person who reads the interaction of all this is probably blessed somehow too.. Then, of course,, there are those sweet little kids at St Judes who are also blessed,,, all because of folks like you.. Crazy eay.... Now that I think about it,, about the only person I can think of that wont be blessed by all this is B2Mom,, the only time she gets blessed is when the actual MONEY is given to those St Judes Kids :dancefool: Thanks Bob,,, you made my day!!

Well,, I seem to have found a new full time job and have spent a lot of time working on it this weekend.. I been working on Health Care Insurance stuff,,, I THOUGHT THIS NEW SYSTEM WAS GONNA BE A PIECE OF CAKE once ya got your provider and all that:starz:... Not so much,,, learning ya gotta be careful in what ya choose, when ya choose it,,, fine print so small these ol eyes have a hard time reading it and this ol half empty brain has an even harder time remembering what does and doesnt apply... And people ask me why I prefer Carbs, throttle cables, points ignition and non-abs brake systems...... Puc is DEFINITELY a K.I.S.S. kinda guy!!!

A poem I wrote for my departed Father, sure do miss him...
cowpuc replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Thanks for the heartfelt responses and understanding ya'll!! Thats is awesome Dan,, it is remarkable how similar our existences can be to one another even when we are located many miles apart... I guess parents back than had a lot in common,, raising kids on a shoe string, teaching us to shoot straight and trying to teach us right from wrong (harder for some of us to learn than others:rotf:- speaking of me of course)... Not that dissimilar from today,,, parenting sure aint for cowards.. Anyway,, you (or any of this marvelous family) NEVER have to worry about hi-jacking any of my threads!! I INVITE it Dan O',,, matter of fact,, as guilty of that as I am I TOTALLY deserve any hi-jackin I get!!! Thanks for the kind words my friend!! Indeed Natty,, that 59 was the beginning of it all.. My Dad had a hard time trying to understand a young Puc, he had NO desire in gearheadedness and I was born with grease under my nails.. I had to destroy a number of bicycles (the hacksaw, hunk of board replacing pedal assemblies to mount an ol 2 horse side shaft engine, stealing pullies from wash machines to make hand clutches.. I was terrible in those early years... He finally caved and split the cost of that 59 with me.. After owning many many two wheeled contraptions thru the years I STILL have the frame to that old 59 in the basement.. I have another matching parts bike for it too (of course) and have always planned on combining it all and actually making that 59 that we loaded in his Linen Van roll down the road again... Time will tell... Think I got a pic on here of that bike, a Bonanza Mini Bike I picked up a few years later and I,, I will do some checkin.. Thanks for the well wishing to my health stuff too Natty!! Made me burst into tears Evan,,,,,, take it from a man who knows,, hope you are over there with your poppers!!! Thoughts and PRAYERS UP for your Dad and what ever he is going thru!! This part of life is NOT easy - your Dad sounds like a real hero Evan!! Way cool that he helped you with your first bike (scooter, moped, mini bike, dirtbike, full size Harley - two wheels and a motor - all fall into one category with ol Puc = BIKE = GREAT MEMORIES AND FUN!!!).. Got any pics:fingers-crossed-emo Thanks for the encouragement that all these words help others,, it sure helps me too thru this stuff..
