  1. Thanks Chief,,, now I feel like I'm really home......
  2. Yeaaa,, but from what I have heard of Big Tom, those 's probably have the distinct impression of a Banana Nut  in each hand Thinking of you Big Tom, be safe out there!! Puc
  3. YOU BETCHA PBJ - WOULD LOVE TO!! But,, ya gotta know,, Allegan County is nothing like our part of the State,,, its the area that I call a "work zone".. Our area marks the start of Michigans "play zone" and finest biking!! I know all the secret little spots and have been nominated as permanent Ride Captn by all my neighbors cause of my hap hazard dynamic way of doing such.. For instance,, my neighbor pulled into my yard and wanted to know if we wanted to go out for lunch,, while I was pulling Tweeks out of the garage and Tippy was putting her shoes on I asked the neighbor where we were headed.. His reply was "just lead us somewhere so we can get a bite to eat" - I said "how bout a fish taco at Long Johns".. When we arrived at the intersection to go toward Long Johns I yelled over at em,, "how hungry are you guys, wanna go north for a burger?" - looked like they nodded yes so I turned north... About 10 hours later as we pulled back into town from an OUTSTANDING day of chasing the front wheel in the north woods I pulled off the side of the road,, looked at my two exhausted neighbors squirming on the seat of their Ultra Classic and said,,,,, you guys still wanna run into town for a Fish Taco?? As we finished our Fish Tacos and were walking into John Hortons for Ice Cream my neighbor patted me on the back and said - that was the funnest biking I have ever done - you are our permanent Road Captn!!
  4. :dancefool::dancefool::dancefool: gotta LOVE that Aharbi!!!!! Now he got me stirred up..... Baby wipes are CHEAP for a quick bath and very refreshing and GREAT to carry for all kinds of cleanups including medical stuff - also fantastic for toilet paper/wiping da butt with (not keeping really clean down yonder is a good way to be SURE your gonna get monkey butt),,, Hospital Cafeteria's have the BEST food at the BEST prices (they are almost always non-profit), Wendys Chili and a dollar burger for lunch - Mcdonalds 1 dollar salad dumped on a dollar burger for dinner and you can live a long time in a crunch, if its late and no stores are open and your hungry - Aldi's has the BEST dumpster diving possible and ALWAYS full of apples/oranges/crackers and veggies - plus they dont seem to lock up their dumpsters - like they like homeless people and crazy bikers - always announce your presence before opening the dumpster though cause people without tents sometimes sleep in em, ALWAYS carry at least a gallon of drinkable water - more precious than xtra fuel, speaking of sunscreen - DONT FORGET YOUR LIPS - get 50 or better chap stick type - works GREAT over the eyes where normal sunscreen burns and blinds ya as you sweat - this stuff WILL NOT - also works GREAT on ear lobes and for writing your name on your bellie and ending up with your name permanently written in your skin = cheap tattoo, carrying an xtra large bike cover instead of a tent works GREAT too - cover your bike and sleep under the cover with it, if you are a dedicated helmet wearer be careful riding in the desert heat for long hours - overheating the brain while in the bucket is very subtle, ride the mountains from early mornings till 1 pm and 5 till dark - ride the foothills where you can easily see the weather - 1 till 5 is "storm time" in all mountain ranges - just be careful with em,, Walmart has the BEST windshield cleaner called Plast-x -- use it to keep your shield glare free and clear, Leatherbys Ice Cream in California has THE best Banana Nut ice cream EVER, about two miles out of the west side of Albuquerque on 40 is a small diner with the BEST BURGERS for the BEST prices this side of California - just watch the north side of the ick-spress way and ya cant miss it...
  5. I TOTALLY go with Jeff's comment about making sure all 4 of the tires are same/same if its a 4x4 of any type!! If its not a 4x4 than at least make sure that the tires are same/same on the drive axle... That said,,, I have many many times ran narrower tires on my vehicles during the winter,, especially the 4x4 Suvs/trucks I have ran.. I have NEVER liked the "feel" of wide tires on snow and ice - even on 4x4 vehicles and have many times had to take just the tires and wheels down to the shop and have them switched to get around the "we cant install them on that rig" routine... Even Walmart wont mount "wrong" tires now adays... My "tip over if breathed on heavily" CJ5 wouldnt do squat in the snow and was VERY dangerous with its wide summer tires,,,, narrow em down to 6 inches and it would go like stink.. FroDo,, we have a local shop here who does em out for 10 bucks,,, xtra 8 for balancing,,,,, check around your local small shops and see what ya come up with,, 139 dollars to do 4 tires sounds high... I am with Rbig,, I would do it BUT I always have been a little goofy....
  6. Where at Jeff?? Gonna be in my area?? Bet I could muster some Hot Chocolate and a Brat or something...
  7. Hmmmmm,, why do I have this gut feeling that you are doing this with no passenger on board??? If that is the case and it were me I would drag that FJR out by its ear lobes, whisper in one of those ears - come with me,, you and I are going to God's country - a place of endless twisties and open throttles - yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaww!! Than hug that Venture tenderly and tell er ya will catch her next trip (Ventures are very forgiving bikes,, just DO NOT come home with Harley exhaust lingering on your clothes - knowing you were hanging around with them is bad enough but knowing you had to FOLLOW enough to pick up its scent = bad news).. Toss a sleeping bag wrapped up in a 20 dollar tent on the back of the FJ, stuff some xtra cash in your pocket in case you find motels along the way that you feel like sleeping at,, grab truck stop showers when you get tired of smelling funny but found out that you really enjoy open camping out on the prairies or up in the mountains.... Of course, I would pack my little computer tablet thingy,, stop at McDonalds (ALWAYS a hot spot) and keep us informed (with pictures,, we LOVE pictures) of where your at and how much fun your having and remind us once in while of being open to Meet and Greets along the way,,, than,, after you show these folks what a kind/understanding/loving/tender hearted/non-pot stirring type of person you are (trust me Dave,, most of these folks are kinda shy in the judging good charector abilities) ya just kinda yawn a little as the folks are finishing the ice cream cone ya bought em.... If that dont work,, there is ALWAYS a Walmart Parking lot or the Village Cemetery if your not in MO, OK, TX, AZ, NM, UT, NV, CO, WY, MT, SD, ND, ID or OR where they have endless open camp area's and lots of room to REALLY let that FJ RUN!!! Oh,, by the way,,, dont forget that the Bonneville Salt Flats are OPEN to the public - PERFECT place to camp and let the FJ "unwind" after twisting thru the Rockies near Salt Lake and only a few minutes out of the way to Yeller Stone and Montana and Cody and the Big Horn Mountains on 16a, and little big horn NP and Glacier..... Yes Sir,,,,, who says ya cant have it your way AND have it all!!! PS - by the way,, if ya happen to get into our area, Muskegon Mi, and need a place to snooze we almost always have a spare bedroom and for sure an open couch - hot shower too... I also know some pretty nice rides on this side of the State,,, not the fast pace open riding like Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, South Dakota or Utah but still really really fun!!!
  8. Seems like only yesterday doesnt it... http://www.ebay.com/itm/June-1987-ROAD-RIDER-CYCLE-MOTORCYCLE-CAMPING-MAGAZINE-COMBI-CAMPER-TRAILER-/310529130911?pt=Magazines&hash=item484cfa819f
  9. QUICK - SOMEBODY TOSS A WRENCH INTO DA FOOLS SNOWPER CHARGER!!! Oh my goodness folks - THAT dont look good at all!!!!!! PRAYERS UP FOR EVERYONE OUT IN NY DEALING WITH THAT MESS!! And indeed,,, PRAYERS UP on the possible flooding stuff - THAT would horrible!!! Hope all of our family out there are ok,, thinking of you guys!! Puc
  10. Your welcome my friend,,, you will have to check with your buddy Lewis but I think you beat the bell anyway... If not,, I wouldnt worry to much about it,,,, the other part of that rule is that those guys gotta be able to catch ya to collect on the ice cream bill and,, after checking out the pics of your new ride you have NOTHING to worry about with this bunch,,, like DragonRider said - very very few of us ride the faster MK-1's,, most of these lop eared Varmints are riding the much slower 2nd Gens so they always have to pay for their own ice cream anyway.... Unless the Boss is around,, he rides a Harley so he buys a LOT of ice cream,,, but,, he is the boss so we dont tease em much.... THAT is one sharp machine partner - CONGRATS!!!
  11. Hmmmm,,, you will probably get in a lot of trouble here for bragging up your bike,, showing pictures and all that.. Not from me but I wouldnt be surprised if someone asks that this thread be removed....... GORGEOUS SCOOT K-RIDER!!!! CONGRATS ON YOUR NEW RIDE AND THANK YOU FOR THE PICS!!! :dancefool:

:dancefool::dancefool: Long as we are on the subject,, here are a couple shots of my bike Tweeks.. Notice the fine sticker coverage that she has,,, far superior to any paint job or scratch removal process that can be purchased.. Only showing you this cause many folks have commented to the fine job we have done so far with Her but very very few have given thought to the costs involved with doing this.... Just wanted you to know that, yes,, she is gorgeous,, but also x3 of the cost of even the best of the best paint jobs!!!! Worth all the time, $$'s and effort though!!! Being my neighbor,, let me know if you need help finding some of these Michigan's finest stickers,, like the Bliss Michigan sticker on Tweeks,,, I will help you find them if you want me too Mirider!!
  13. This 880 was brand new when we left Michigan last spring.. I watch my tire pressures very closely, the tire was never ran low and maintained at Metzler Specs.. It was subject to a lot of hot tarmac, did Mexican Border in Texas, across Az, up thru Nellis and California Coast, up to Washington and back down to Sacramento - this is what we pulled into Sac with!! I checked it over very carefully before I left Oregon (I have witnesses - Sargent Coffey can verify) for Sacramento and there were NO signs of what was to come!! I picked up a CHEAP (70 bucks) Full Bore to replace this junk 880 - tire did GREAT!! Suffered thru the same high temps on way home, same fully loaded up bike.. Yes, it was wore out after going across the country BUT it did NOT come apart like the Metz and it was a "cheapy" Full Bore!! Ironically,, I mentioned this to one of our buddies (a straight shooten Texan) and come to find out,, he and his wife had the same thing happen to them only theirs blew out and resulted in a very bad accident!! Almost lost their lives to one of these Metzlers coming apart!! I wont share his name (he can if he wants) but I think he even complained to Metzler about this issue with not good results.. I cant say I will NEVER run another Metz cause ya NEVER know what ya might be stuck with out on the open road BUT,,, it would have to be the only tire available after finding what I found out!!!
  14. Hmmmm,, I thought I heard somewhere that Buffalo NY is buried under 4' of white wash??? Bongo,, is this anywhere near you? On a side note,, I also heard a rumor that the Fool is taking a break this weekend for maintenance and we are suppose to see 50 degrees by Sunday,,, :dancefool: Winter's only a month away Crazy Joe,,, just a little longer and you will get what you have earned I bet... I get that Yammer BUT,,, I gotta hunch that the Fool picks up his White Wash coloring from the local Habitat for Humanity Store and the only other color they carry is Pink... Dont push em to hard Dan O'..
  15. Well how bout that,,, just like two riders on different roads ending up at the same location....... LOL

    Scratches

You guys,, I have used this stuff called Plast-X to remove scratches and spider webbing from my windshields for years (have tried lots of other methods, found this stuff to actually work).. I get it from Walmart - last time I bought some I think it was under 5 bucks for a bottle.. I wouldnt be surprised that it would also work well for fiberglass cleaning too.. Stuff really works great on shields - Might be worth a try... Mirider,, your in West Michigan,, I am right on the lake shore in North Muskegon,, be glad to give it a shot on your scoot if your in the area or stop by grab it and try it... Or,, I can find a spot on Tweeks fairing and see if it will clean it up,,, she is down stairs staying warm so it really wouldnt be a problem.... Another thing you can do is just put a sticker over the mark....LOL
  17. Yeaaa Kev,,, I am down on fluid by halfway so I gotta multiply every thought by two,,, and that aint easy when the half thats left is freezing!!!! You know what we gotta do Fool,,, seems how you dont control the cold we gotta figure out which one of our Northern Neighbors does... I gotta hunch that one of those Kanuck buddies of ours is a Closet Canadian Cold Climate Controller and we need to figure out who it is... We should work together and figure it out so we can make sure he has his rightful spot in this perpetual motion cycle thingy.. Sorry Fool,, I already passed those patent rights onto my offspring to ensure they continue in perpetuality:rasberry:
  18. Oh oh oh,,, thats it,,, only wrap a tent around that bag so ya got an instant place to snooze out in the middle of nowhere (pull into the first cow town ya have seen after riding 4 hours searching for one since it got dark and find out there aint a motel within 200 miles and you will be GLAD to have that tent!!) on your way to your buddies houses!! Not only that but the tent makes a perfect sack for keeping the sleeping bag and pillow dry!!
  19. dag nabbit bongo,,, i gotta learn to type faster...
  20. Once again,, THANK YOU CHIEF FOR REMINDING FOLKS TO DO THIS - I have been sandbagging on mentioning it now that our State/Provincial flags are gone!! I have been racking my brain while reading some post wondering where the poster is from... Read one a while ago,, person was from "Peru" and wondered if that was Peru as in that country called Peru,,,,,,, some of us directionally challenged folks REALLY appreciate this assistance Don!! That said,, I messed around here trying to do as you instructed.. Here is what I came up with.. You have to click on the "Settings" icon found at the top right of this page.. Next to it is an icon marked "My Profile" but that is NOT the one ya click on - that one will lead you into some strange zone with all kinds of info about colors and stuff... After ya click on "Settings", if you look at the left side of the screen there will be a box with Edit Profile in it, click on that and it will take you to what appears to be as Don is describing... If you read the titles of the boxes you will see two different areas asking for location, one that appears with your posts,, one that does not... I already had the one that appears in my posts filled in - that is the one that lets everyone know that I live in North Muskegon Michigan - not Peru Peru.. The other one I did not have filled in,, the one that is not viewable by posters (I think this is the 2nd part Don is talking about)... Hope this info is correct Boss, just trying to help anyone who is as challenged with this stuff as I am... Puc
  21. Sittin in the hospital x,ray room again, soon as we get back home to the laptop i will post some picks of the metz 880 that came apart on tweeks out in cali last year.. I betcha it will look familiar to ya... gotta run
  22. GORGEOUS! Did you try that wadded up tin foil trick that was recently posted up? I get back on my feet and building again I am gonna give it a shot. Lookin great there Eck!
  23. And around, and around, and around, and around Thing that bugs me most though is how and why innocent bystanders like you and I always end up getting caught in the perpetual motion of that vicious cycle......
  24. Your welcome K,, we all know that patience is a virtue and most of us really are virtuous... I think Lewis was just trying to give you a heads up about how it works around here,, he was just trying to let you know that everyday that goes by that you dont post a picture of your new bike is gonna cost ya big time at the ice cream store when we all stop for a cone,,,, it can get embarrassing when an unsuspecting pic rule violater gets handed a bill for 50 bucks worth of ice cream,,, its especially bad if ya happen to be with some of these yahoos who eat 5 or 6 cones at a stop....
  25. WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY COOL DAVE :clap2::clap2:!!!!!!! Personally,, I wouldnt toss the tent idea out unless you KNOW for sure its a no go - I would go to Menards - by a Puc special for 20 bucks, toss in a sheet of that egg cartontop foam rubber on the floor, add a bag and try it out for 3 or 4 nights - a little back yard campin :cool10:.. Doing what your talking about doing with a tent and a bike is amazing - THE FREEDOM IS TRULY ADDICTIVE AND INTOXICATING!! That said,, that "style" is basically all I really know about - I am SURE that others have found the same experiences thru touring while trailering or Moteling,,, just pick what fits YOU and sounds the funnest for YOU and go get it!!!! A LOT OF GORGEOUS COUNTRY WHERE YOUR HEADED - RIDE YOUR RIDE - DONT BE IN HURRY, GO THE DIRECTION THAT TUGS ON YOUR HEART SO YOU DONT LEAVE WONDERING WHAT WAS DOWN THAT ROAD - BUY A KID A CANDY BAR WHEN EVER YA STOP FOR GAS - EAT BREAKFAST BEFORE SUNUP AND DINNER AFTER SUNSET AND RIDE IN THE DAYLIGHT BETWEEN THE TWO.. Oh yea,, PLEASE DONT FORGET OUR PICS!!! Would LOVE to and HOPE to see ya out there!! Puc P.S. I swear,, you melted 3 inches of snow off my front yard with this thread - THANK YOU!!!!
