  1. Yes you are..............
  2. If we are fortunate something like this will commit suicide on our road which will result in this but we usually get stuck with none of these willingly donating their steaks so we have to work our tails off which eventually leads to a fight between me and which always amounts to more work .. Of course, I am never alone in my misery but it can sure seem that way, specially when time to dust off the just before Santie shows up.. Good thing patience is a virtue during Christmas at our house, especially when waiting for some of Tippys smoked salmon chowder .. After eating though, people make up and are happy again.. The End. Merry Christmas
  3. Hi Kaj,, welcome to the family!! Is your bike an 87 Venture? Just didnt see it posted and its kind of important info.. Anyway,, assuming it is a Venture we are speaking of, the petcock is, while sitting on the bike - right side - just above the passengers foot rest.. Keep in mind that these scoots carry their fuel below the seat and utilize a fuel pump to get fuel to the carbs.. So, turning the fuel off is not necessary to do carb work..
  4. She is gorgeous Natty!! What an awesome way to get out, get some fresh air, roll thru some mountain twisties,, leaning shoulder to shoulder with the one ya love - all in classic style!! :clap2: Sure looks like the PO took care of it body wise,, seems like most of em I see around Michigan suffer from body rust pretty badly (probably from folks getting em out on salty roads in the spring).. Beautiful car Natty - CONGRATS!! THANK YOU FOR THE 's If it belonged to Tip n I we would have one of those little trunk lid ski rack things to tie the tent to cause aint no way,, aint no how we could not go touring the country in that puppy!!
  5. In my limited experience, I have found a different perspective in this DJ.. Got an improper helmet ticket in California a couple years ago, no helmet required in my home state of Michigan.. The officer who wrote us a warning ticket did not like the color (white - looked to much like a police officers helmet he said) of Tippys helmet but stated it was just a warning.. After getting home, couple months later we recieved a notice from Sacramento Superior Court that we owed em 500 bucks cause we didnt come down after we had gotten the ticket to give them 250 bucks.. I called and talked to a clerk,, kind of a grumpy person who basically told me that they never issue warning tickets and I owed em 500 bucks.. Said if I didnt pay it within 2 weeks the Michigan State Police would come, take my drivers license and lock me up until I paid that fine plus additional $ being assessed for not paying the 500.. Had a hard time believing what I was hearing so, before I sent payment, I went to our (Muskegon Mi) local courthouse and spoke with an actual Judge about it.. Was told this: Few years ago Michigan signed onto some "pact" that gives the offended state (California in this case) juristiction within a reciprical non-offended state (in this case Michigan) to enforce the offended states laws.. And that those State laws are superior even over federal laws.. The judge than told me that there were only 2 states in the USA who, at that time, hadnt signed onto this "pact".. His words,, bottom line,, you have to KNOW the laws of the state you are in and be in compliance of those laws or face the penalties.. He than told me to pay the fine or there would be an arrest warrant issued, my drivers license would be pulled and, get this,, my license would belong to the State of California and it would be up to them as to when it would be released!!!
  6. What da heck,, I havent even seen one in person yet and gotta say,, I already like em - A LOT... Of course,, I am kind of a gear headed geek who is attracted to motorized stuff, specially anything drivable/ridable, different, artistic or performance related - if it is related to motorcycles I am in trouble... A good example,, I cant tell you how many of my friends think I am wacky cause I happen to have always liked that great big V-8 Chevy powered Boss Hog,, just the way I am,, another flaw in my character Dont make no sense that they arent "legal" in some states,, I can see that if Polaris is trying to tag em as a "Car" than yea - they are not a car but,, tagged as a bike so owners have to follow state motorcycle laws - rock n roll:guitarist 2:..
  7. Actually Ang,,, I would encourage you to rethink that "wont happen again" thingy.. I was one of the respondents in that thread who helped push it over the edge in the politics thingy - sometimes my (and others) goes to far, and thats when our VR family peace keeping Law Enforcement has to step in and get us back on track - doing their job (gotta be a tough one),, keepin us upright... It was obvious from the git-go what you were referring to with the thread - you did no wrong and meant nothing bad.. That said, you cant control the direction any thread is gonna go at any given time, IMHO - that is why we gotta have Moderators and a Bossman...
  8. Trust me Rev,, he is not alone in his suffering!! Sometimes I feel like the Pied Piper of under privileged motorcycles... Now its YOUR turn PB = start counting,,,, where is waldo,, where can that rascal be?? PS,, still waiting to hear who is the closes on counting yours?
  9. Right back at cha Boss!! May the reason for the season with all His love and grace, place great joy upon your household and keep that smile on your face!!! Merry Christmas to all!!! The Pucs
  10. Yea,, waited long enough,, I think I see four.. Two obvious, one under that blue canopy (can see the trunk and the passenger grab bars sticking out) and one cross ways with the tail end sticking out in front of the pedalies.. Funny how sooner or later,, usually much later than sooner,, the truth always come out and it usually starts with one brave soul!!
  11. Close Papa Nelson but obviously, NO cigar!!! My fellow scallywags,, I mean these fine upstanding young scholars can instantly spot a wannabe Tweeks,, I am a little shocked that you fell so easily by the wayside,,, good thing she is in the basement cause her feelings would be hurt.... I gotta say though,, had I of given you a little longer to respond to PB and do some,, as me and my good buddy BikerJohn would say,, photo chop shop shoppin and you would have tossed a little dirt on that wannabe so it wasnt so clean than,,, yea,,,,,, I would have probably had to put some glasses on to see all the fine detail that these fine young men so perfectly pointed out!!! Not only that but the background is allllllllllllllllllllll wrong,, good try though Chief,, especially for a Harley kinda guy Sincerely http://www.sovietsteeds.com/forums/images/smilies/bs.gif

    Fracking

When we were goofin off on Tweeks in North Dakota last year I was SHOCKED at the job opportunities posted everywhere ya looked - reminded me of the old days around Michigan when good paying jobs were everywhere - we were OUT of workers,, even skilled trades!! I am sure fracking is responsible for part of this.. Yacked with a number of folks out there about it,, overall take that I came home with was economic appreciation.. Talked to a couple rancher dudes who were really really hurting not to long ago,, if memory serves me correctly he said that in Michigan it takes 5 acres to raise a cow - out there it was more like 1000 acres per cow -- then the drought hit... People lost everything.. Now alot of those guys are surviving ok,, partially cause of fracking.. Have always heard of methane gas being forced from the ground and things getting pretty stinky from fracking,, gotta say,, never did notice that while traveling - certainly NOTHING even close to the Methane releases you find around waste management areas.. No body I spoke with knew much about the ground water contamination stuff (or werent saying nuttin cause they liked making money).. Most of the comments I heard about that issue focused on it being kinda old school, new technology has improved the issue greatly.. Also have noticed the price of oil being wayyyy down,, gas around here is 2.19 a gallon,, feels pretty dog gone good.. Being a supply/demand kinda guy, cant help but think fracking is playing a part in the lower prices.. On another greater note,, be pretty neat if us North American peoples could some way some how get away from buying oil from people who hate us and our way of life,, if responsible fracking could create that I think we would be much better off....
  14. Sound asleep.........
  15. Hey Carl,, speaking of motorcycle scratch and dent costs, you do anything with Harley thru the years?? Get that bo-bo on a CVO,, those puppies are a horse of a different color at every angle
  16. Ok,, ok ok ok,, I will caption this one,,, "it appears hopeless but cha gotta admit,, those 2nd Genner dudes never give up in their bold attempt to catch the 1st Gen folk"....
  17. Cool,, a motorcycle version of where's waldo!!! PB,,, your my kinda people,, always coming up with sneaky little :stickpoke:and some pretty awesome !! I get a second here I will have to be a contributing factor here to your latest exploits!!

  19. Dont know how I missed this Coff!! Pheweeeee,, soooooo glad you are ok Sonshine - GOD IS GOOD!! Sometimes we all need a wake up call,, just to learn new stuff - reconnect us with reality so to speak.. Sounds like you had a dandy!! Hope all is well with the family AND the new baby girl that the Lord was protecting you for - so you could be her Pappa!!!!
  20. I have admired your work many many times over Mike - VERY NICE STUFF!! This isnt the first time I have seen your stuff come up in the "donations for a very worth cause" auctions - THANKS for all you have done around here! :clap2:
  21. Absolutely OUTSTANDING Z!!!! Looks like a very very worthy product too!!!
  22. I have and use both the HF Table and the HF Frame Lift.. The table is Air/Over and has always worked great, the Frame Lift is VERY Handy for ANYTHING fork/wheel related and I also use it A LOT on cars/garden tractor/atv's and all purpose jacking - it is really really handy.. I bought the Air Over years ago - using super coupon = 250 bucks.. Before that, I used permanent wooden platforms with removeable sections - hand made = worked awesome for many many years.. The Frame lift was under 150 bucks with the super coupon.. Best investment I ever made!! Have built several touring bikes on the Table, put down the feet, use clamp and tie downs,, works great.. It is the 1200 LB model.. Using the frame jack on anything without the frame exposed you gotta tinker with blocks or adaptors to lift the bike (Tweeks pipes are already 99% weld and in rough enough shape I just slip it under her and lift).. Once its captured the frame lift is also very solid.. The Frame lift wiggles a lot more with a bike on it than the table does though.. PS,,, I keep an eye on the welds on both lifts as well as supporting hardware/bolts, use the safety support pins and rods and try to avoid getting mouse trapped by em when working around them (pretty good idea anytime your working with this stuff).. Its not that I dont trust the manufacturing country (ummmmm,, ok,, I really dont ) but back in 01 when the same group of people showed up at the Dealer Expo in Indianapolis with little pitbikes that had "rotary" trannies (go from 5th gear to 1st gear with one click) they pretty much exposed their engineering "standards" to anyone who really cared... I had a professor in College who had three little words he lived by = "DONT BE DUMB",,, pretty good advice!!! NEVER had an issue - just be a little extra careful is all I am saying
  23. FANTABULICE FOOL!! I KNEW that all was well when I walked outside earlier and the car was covered in a fresh layer of White Wash!! Gotta say,, it actually made me smile,,, for a couple seconds - at least until I also glanced over at the white wash shovel leaning against the house, to see it back cause I KNEW you were BACK!!!!!! Congrats!!
  24. OUTSTANDING PB!! Ya may not be able to do a full report yet but,, heyyy,, that was AWESOME!!
  25. This may sound crazy but dont forget your gear, back when I had my shop I got "visited" by the adjusters every now and than.. You would be surprised at how many of my customers didnt realize their gear was covered under their comprehensive,, I know one person who ended up with an "xtra" 2300 bucks just cause we inquired.. Never ever hurts to ask!! If you do have gear coverage, helmets dont even have to have a mark on them to usually be covered - once they have been involved in an accident they are technically done .. Head to toe clothing has to be damaged.. Another opinion of mine Natty, and its just from dealing with lots of bikes thru the years, it is not uncommon for the deciding factor in a "totalled" bike to be frame damage.. I have noticed thru the years that, be it dirtbikes or roadbikes (cause of the weight involved) that high sided motorcycles have a very high rate of tweaked frames - especially at the neck.. Other than laying down on the road and having someone ride the bike toward you while you look down the axis of the bike, the easiest way to identify frame movement is checking welds and stress points for cracking in paint... If I were in your shoes and it were my bike I would go over it with a fine tooth comb looking for evidence of this.. After the adjuster goes over the bike and makes note of the things he sees I would look at his list and make sure that anything I see that is not on his list he is informed of... Different companies handle accessories differently.. Some cover "add on's" fully, some not at all.. Some will let you remove accessories that were add on's when they dont cover them, some wont.. Something you will want to check on.. Here is another something you might want to think about and I only bring this up as a friend - not to scare you in any way.. Back when I had my car accident in 03 I broke my back.. Spent over a year in a fiberglass body cast.. Ended up with all kinds of titanium in my back BUT, thank God, they put me back together and I made it out of the wheel chair.. The car insurance company forced me to go to a Doctor they had hired who declared me all better - cased closed and I had NO choice in it.. Since that time I have discovered a bunch of "little" things - collateral damage if you will.. Of course, with my case being "closed" - the "collateral" damage now came out of my pocket (still paying).. That being said,, if you havent done so it might not be a bad idea to get in and have a really good physical, write down ANY little thing that is bothering you and have it recorded by your doctor.. Pay special attention to your teeth,, it seems like cracked teeth can go unnoticed for a long time and can be VERY expensive to have repaired and most personal healthcare insurance doesnt cover dental.. Thoughts and prayers up for you both! Puc
