Craig I honestly think you did post that up in the right place! It might have gotten a little deeper response than you initially intended for it to get but what the heck, sitting around here yakking bikes together while its -5 outside - THAT is what its all about! I didnt mean to come across in anything I said as having taken offence to that little vid, my responses were soley based on talking motorcycles.. I gotta tell you friend - your comment above echoes our neighborhood and surrounding area - we harass each other endlessly about who's is best and which is fastest and on and on,, its ALL good.. Its always kinda funny cause when we are all out riding our Yams, Harleys, Honda's, Suzuki's, Indian's, mopeds and minibikes together - if one breaks down, we all ban together to get her up and going again (no one goes home till we all go home) and then we will sit around out front of one of our houses - break out the Hot Dog toaster and chips and the :stickpoke:will start all over again!!

Shouldnt that have read,, "maybe wipe the dust off my 2nd Gen from all those 1st Gens ripping by it"? P.S. - listen carefully at the end of this short vid, most folks think thats Tip, its actually Tweeks little snicker that many a dust wiper has learned to despise!!

Tippy and I are deeply saddened to hear of your great loss Mike. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you grief the loss of such a precious loved one. May you rest in peace Lorella.

WOW is what I think!! I LOVE the new Indians too!! I have rode em (not the Roadmaster yet though) and I not sure if it would work for a replacement for the Ventures for me.. These 1st Gen Yams have my body molded and contoured to em, I fold the bars back and in, take the lowers off and stretch out my legs, lean back on Tippy and ride for hours and hours and hours... Just not sure how to think "replacement".. Now,,, "in addition to",, thats a whole nuther story!! THEY ARE GORGEOUS THOUGH RAIDER!!

Oh great Bum,, now ya got him so twisted up, he will probably show up with 4 kitchen chairs hanging off Silver and a note from the Warden to Eileen tacked on his jacket that reads "Dan said he needed to bring these to the event to sleep under? Remembering how he forgot his tent poles in the past - could you please send them home with him as our kitchen looks kind of empty without them"

a one of those crab ragoons that they bought from that backstreet alley Chinese Restaurant in Chinatown while visiting lower Manhattan a couple years ago. Its a good thing they had a bike cover than because those street dancers who were spinning on their heads like a top in front of the lady painted to look like the statue of liberty could have gotten their

Wonder what that would sound like if we played it backwards
-
Yea,, knowing you ya probably got a couple ol bikes permanently stranded down there with your tent stretched between em just in case ya happen to need a place to hide from da Warden!!!!

Been a while Mraf but yea,, sleds and dirt bikes with Kold Kutters in the tires were a way of winter life for me for many years. I helped establish and worked in an Arctic Cat shop back in the 70's (called Grand Haven Arctic Cat, also sold Hodaka Motorcycles too - couple years later picked up Yamaha). Working at the shop, I was always dragging home trade-in sleds, everybody and their brother was building em back then. Opened my own bike shop back in the 80's and did sleds in the winter. Did a LOT of Michigan touring - it was much more expensive than motorcycle touring (not impossible but hard to camp so motels were it and sleds are not real effecient - better these days but still not like a bike). I REALLY enjoyed snowmobiling, my family did too. My bike shop was 1/2 mile from the legal sled trail here on the west side - near our snowmobile clubhouse called the Red Barn. From my back door I could ride all the way up to the Mighty Mac all pretty much on legal trails, down the other side of the state to the cross country connector and back home - BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! I also had several Thundercats (both the 900's and the 1000's) - I LOVED MY T-CATS that I modded and put long travel suspention on them (M-10, M-12). Tip and I always had at least one 2up, my favorite was a little 2 up Polaris 500 Twin all decked out - we rode the living daylights out of it!! Got older, arthritis started setting in (I can barely open my hands now beyond a "C" shape) and the cold really started causing me problems. The 4 stroke sleds were just starting to get perfected. I hear from guys I used to do a lot of cross country sled touring with who tell me that everything has really changed. Now there are sleds that will actually get 20+ MPG (just getting started in my day) and 20k miles without a whole lot of work on em ( WAY unheard of in my day - maybe 1k back than before wrench time). For many many years I dealt with an auction service in southern Michigan called White Star Snowmobile Auction. They had a standing rule that payment was allowed by CASH ONLY. Cant tell you how many times back in the 80's I walked around nervously down there with 15 or 20k in my possession to pick up inventory, LOTS of other dealers doing the same. After a few years of doing business with them my son and I were there, sold a few left over machines , brought home a few bikes and was suppose to have not received a check from them. Week later I got my statement and there was a check for 6800 bucks, their accountants had messed up. I called the owner (names Brent) and explained what was going on. He told me to just destroy the check and than said if there was ever anything he could do for me just to let him know. I asked about accepting my checks (UNHEARD OF DOWN THERE). He said NO PROBLEM and from that day forward - I never had to carry cash!! VERY SOLID PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH!! As the internet picked up, they setup a website. Thru the years they have, by listening to a bunch of us business guys, developed it to the point of reporting past sales with prices so we could market study and know what machines were worth and what sell points were.. I made a good living in the business and they were a part of my world for a long time. They are GOOD people to deal with - if you are anywhere near Bronson Michigan (near Coldwater - Indiana border) it would be well worth your while to investigate them for your future sledding needs - you can save some serious cash but ya gotta know what you want and what to look for. Also, LOTS of people come from other States and Canada to attend the auctions (I shouldnt say that - things may have really changed down there with ebay and craiglist at full swing). Of course, if you examine the "price reports" and compare them month to month (they keep a years worth of back log) you will soon notice that the best time to buy (cheapest) is March to September. Back when I started attending this place it was a one ring auction selling both the new and the used sleds - use to be 9 pm before we would be loaded up and out of there - seen many auctions with over 1000 machines. As far as I know, they now have a full crew and most times they are done by 3.. LOTS AND LOTS OF FUN!! yea, also a GREAT place to pickup clothing an accessories if you hit it just right!! Anyway, the website is Snowmobile Auction and more White Star, Bronson Michigan - take a peek! Hope this helps Puc

Couple other things too.. Back in 78 I won a brand new Low Rider in a raffle on a job site here in Michigan. It was a 78 and 1/2 year model, 1/2 year was when they 1st moved from the 74inch to the 80inch Cone-Shovel. I LOVED the bike, rode it all over out west and it did a good job.. Only problems I really had with it was keeping the rear brake caliper tight, a few wires breaking off and regular maintenance stuff.. I sold it 7 years later with over 100k on it - it was tired BUT - I ended up getting almost what it sold for new on resale. I have come to respect HD for where they stand on resale compared to almost anything else on the market. Also, back during those AMF years and early EVO days, HD parts prices were UNREAL compared to the Metrics, that is one of the reasons I stopped riding HD as a full time rider. Back when I had my Low Rider a Clutch Cable for it was 70 bucks, Honda 750 Cable was 12 - this was NORMAL for HD.. In todays market place that has pretty much balanced out and on some things - even gone the other way. This is another HUGE change! I personally have total respect for HD and how they really do listen to their buying public, they may be slow to listen but at least they do try. Things like the change over to Delphi injectors in 00/01, cam chain tensioner/oil pump upgrades and 6 speed tranny all within the Twin Cam era and pretty much all coming from actually hearing their buying publics squawking voices.. One last point,, I find it astounding how that age old HD v-twin tractor motor is still the bench mark that everyone is shooting at - everyone who is anyone is producing a copy cat of them in some way AND they sell!! We can poke fun at HD all we want (it is FUN) but the fact of the matter is, Harley Davidson has probably done more for the sport of motorcycling and motorcycle gear heads like us guys than all the other manufactures combined. Yes, they pulled some stunts with Buell, the import Tax back in the Regan days was crazy and they do tend to over kill with the high price T-Shirts but,, you guys gotta admit, Copy Righting and Patenting that "Potato Potato" sound was brilliant AND HD remains profitable today because of things just like that..

Bubber, I dont have any interest in buying another one (dont use the one we have) but I would LOVE to see pics of what you have built!! I enjoy seeing what others creatively built!! I saw a Tear Drop last year at the Goldwing Midnight Ride to the Bridge. Guy started making these, turned it into a business, I made a little vid of his work.. Really really high end stuff - he had air/heat, stereo, kitchen in this one... Stuff starts at 5 grand though..

That would be really fun,, build a 502 Hoss Trike up with a 5th wheel unit on its backside. Make a small 5th Wheel trailer, fully self contained.. To bad we aint Jay Leno rich, we could get into all kinds of endless trouble:big-grin-emoticon:!!

amphibious undercarriage for his real SlingShot so him and Joyce could follow Puc, Tippy and Tweeks the next time they went out fishing. Larry knew that Puc was a professional bass fisherman and that if he and Joyce could only figure out where the three of them caught all their fish..

WOW ZZZZZZZZ WOW WOW WOW!!!! That is GORGEOUS WildBill - congrats!!!

I totally get the budget thing Kat, we just sold Olivia to get a handle on some of medical bills too.. Hope I didn't take you guys away from enjoying your Valentines Day - thought I better ask about it before Raggie and I went to yapping.. Raggie, here are a couple more shots of this puppy. It's a "Vista" name brand. Literally smells like new inside, it came with both the 6 and 10" vinyl covers that go over the top to carry extra stuff under. There is no mattress (probably suppose to use a blow up mattress?). I looked it over very very carefully when I had it open last spring to figure out how to put it together and I found one spot, about the size of the end of a pencil eraser, in the canvas that appeared slightly worn (like it had gotten pinched somehow). Every where else looked perfect! I did some horse trading, had an Honda XL350 that I was not able to get my investment and labor hours out of (nice bike), crazy bike business - at one time those XL/XR's were GREAT sellers, 1500 to 2000 all day long.. This last one I did was a sharp bike but no buyers (had a guy offer 700 bucks for it). Ended up with this trailer out of it, original owner used it 4 times, Tip and I never did use it cause we tent camp (why am telling you - we left our tent bottom impression on your lawn last summer LOL). Probably shuold stick this thing in the VR Trailer for sale section if you folks decide you oughta stick to your original plan of getting a motorhome!!

Ahhhh,, the summer of 14,,, ADVENTURE SERVED UP GORMET STYLE!!!!
cowpuc replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
I just asked Tip about this one Fool,, she said that having me around keeps her smiling and that the only time she knows of when she stops is when I have to go away for any length of time , this together is really fun.. As soon as our youngest is married and out of here - the fun is REALLY gonna start, hit the road and find some REAL adventures out there!! -
When my kids were real little, l used to take all the kitchen chairs and drape sheets over them to make a house for em. We would play for HOURS in their "house", what a blast! Of course, poor Tip was always running out of bedding for night time:missingtooth: but,, it was a lot of fun!! We should get a couple great big tarps, line our bikes up and make a BIG tent area with the tarp secured to our bikes, all camp out under the tarp Stay up all night, eating ice cream and just generally driving Don crazy!

Will do Raggie, I really need to get confirmation from @GAWildKat or @StormRaven before we do though cause I distinctly remember telling Kat that I would give her first dibs. Lets see if we get any comments or thoughts on the subject here from them by using this new fandangled "@" quoting thing that our Boss bought us all for Christmas.. If we dont, I will give em a shout and go from there..
