First open highway ride with the 130/90 on front....
cowpuc replied to YamahaLarry's topic in Watering Hole
I wonder if the contact area on a 130 is just a little smaller than on a 150 and that is what makes it feel "lighter" in its steering.. I know you also swapped out the links on your mono, in the dirtbiking years ago - I had a full set of links for my KX - each set would alter the that feel in their own way.. Could also have something to do with swapping out those links,, maybe.. Either way,, sounds like your headed for fun Lar!!! Have fun challenging taming that Dragon!! Be safe! Puc -
AWESOME!! THAT is GORGEOUS Larry:scared:!! I love those white walls!! Had NO idea that Shinko did WW's!!! Had I of known that I would have looked into a set for Tweeks years ago (different sizes though, wonder if they have them for 1st Gens).. That really really looks nice Larry!! CONGRATS on a job well done my friend!! Thanks for the post and THANKS for the

Tell ya one thing bro,, if I were fighting for my life against cancer like our friend Skid is I would be HONORED to know you were praying for me. I too have been thinking of our buddy and praying for him on a regular basis but, unlike my friend Dan, I have fallen short in keeping that thread going like you have!! YOU have been a major encouragement to many, let alone the immense encouragement you have been to Jeff.. Sounds to me like the person who spoke to you may have picked a really really inappropriate time and setting to have a "religious" discussion with you - thats a shame.. Concerning whether God hears ALL prayers,, I aint God but I have this gut feeling that He is all knowing and all understanding and if thats the case - he even hears the perverbial tree falling in the forest when no one is around.. He could not be God if he didnt hear your prayers. Try not to let it get you to far down and damage the spirit that you have been showing in all this Dan. Let people think what they want, focus on the healing power of prayer that we have all witnessed because of your support for your good friend.. I will also add this (something that the person that spoke out of place to you missed). I am aware of a small passage in the Bible that says "there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother".. I bet if you sat down with Skid and asked him if those words have any meaning to him, he would wrap his arm around your shoulder and tell you that because of you being you - he gets it...

DOG GONE IT HUGGY,, if I wouldnt have stopped to write this poem I would have made it:big-grin-emoticon:!!!!! Think we may have a little sibling rivalry going on:stickpoke::buttkick:and I lost:duck:!! Oh well.... Happy Mom's Day to our Mothers, where ever they may be. Playing with their children, or riding - living free. Child bearing is a blessing, but not an easy thing to do. I watched four times in my own life and still dont have a clue. To carry a little one deep inside, and feel that body grow. Thru all that pain and agony, and then come home with such a glow. If it were not for your tenderness, your love and caring way, what kind of place would this world be in work and even play? The ethics that you taught us, demonstrating right from wrong, fixing scrapes and bruises when we didnt listen to your song. A Mothers work can be thankless, even painful some would say, but not while Puc is on the job - wishing YOU a HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!!!!!!

Hi Yah, WELCOME TO VR !!!!!!! In my humble opinion ya gotta be somewhat careful about what cha listen to concerning Yamaha Inc.. They have tried a number of times to cancel all support but, problem is, most of the folks around here, who happen to be the ONLY support the Ventures have had for a very long time anyway, havent slowed down one bit.. Matter of fact, Yamaha's past attempt at pulling support actually increased actual REAL support from REAL people (VR) the last time around (when they dropped the Gen 1) and it turned out to be a positive thing (in my book). Our Boss, a likeable fellow named Freebird, also seems to be a little bull headed about being told whether he has to pull support or not and I highly doubt that even if Yamaha told him to do so he would without getting new Harley's for all his friends paid for by Yamaha.. So you see,, even if they did pull out - you might be very fortunate for signing up for VR cause you might get a new bike out of it:guitarist 2: Just pulling your chain Yah, seriously,, welcome to the family!! Its a great place and Yams are AWESOME scoots!! Pay no attention to rumors - enjoy the site and ENJOY the summer ride!! Ride safe, ride free!! Puc

Just hit me here,, next weekend, 15th - 17th is Blessing of the Bikes in Baldwin Michigan.. Wondered if anyone was going to make it.. If you do, keep an eye out for Tweeks,, if you see her I probably wont be to far away and would LOVE to say howdy!! Its a great time if you have never been there (like most bike gatherings).. I tend to hang out more on main street Baldwin or at the BP Gas Station south of town (vendor alley) - be LOTS of bikes parked out front of the grocery store... Just look for a bike with a couple stickers and a set of antlelop horns on it!! Puc http://www.cyclefish.com/event/9357/

I read that Harley Davidson, the leader in OEM EFI programmable tuners has an adapter for their Screaming Eagle Tuner that they sell for the Ultra Limited's. The adapter will hook up to your bike Prairie. This tuner is programmable in 200 rpm increments on the injectors, can pull and add ignition as needed, set rev limit, records top revs, reports sensor issues and lots of other parameters. WHile under 600 bucks a pop they are still fairly expensive - making Harley a LOT of money so its no wonder Harley has decided to go ahead an offer it for the new XVZ17 as it appears Yamaha isnt concern with making money at this time.. Hope this helps...

Wish I could Bub, believe me, I wish I could.. That Fool,, he just wont get off the machine... I tried, I really really tried but it didnt work.. Maybe an offer to cost share with Jeff on the profitability of those fine print service fee's would give the company some say so in the machines yearly application but I am not even sure about that.. It's kind of complex because I know the Kanucks would want in on it for maintenance fee's associated with door hinges and locks.. Would take a lot of negotiating, possibly even raising monthly charges slightly.... Think it best to see how stable the company is at the end of this year and go from there.. Speaking about "fast ones", I am trying to leave Tweeks out of the equation in case I have to change the name of the company to "Bank and Ruptcy"..

Side Stand Question
cowpuc replied to Patmac6075's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Totally agree with TIME FOR PROGRESSIVES!! Dont wait, if your fork springs are sacked out (and it sounds like they are) the internals of your forks are in danger of damage and your cornering capabilities are infringed upon.. -
Side stand warning
cowpuc replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Another excellent reminder Rand - THANK YOU from me personally and I will say thank you for anyone who reads this, checks their stand and is saved from issues like you are talking about.. I have a hunch that you wont mind if I add a small amount of input to your already great thread (just like we were standing around yapping like a couple gear headed buddies).. The bolt that holds the side stand on on our Gen 1 Ventures (never worked on a Gen 2) is a shoulder bolt that shoulders against the inside side stand ear after the bolt passes thru the frame mount. If you find the stand to have more play in it than your prefer (as Randy is talking) be careful when tightening the bolt in trying to remove the looseness in the stand. The threaded end on the shoulder bolt is fairly small and easily breakable (they are hard, hardness increases brittleness) - when the shoulder hits its spot there aint much forgiveness. I am sure there is torque spec on that bolt. Also, if your bike has a fair amount of miles on it or the side stand has not been lubed regularly, it may end up getting oblonged in its surface area where the bolt ride. This too can result in a sloppy stand. In a pinch I have added .020 of shim (flat washer - on the outside of the sidestand under the head of the shoulder bolt to "squeeze" more life out of my side stand. It worked well and got us home so I could put another stand on the bike.. Not the best fix but it worked for a while. There are LOTS of these scoots in bike yards for parts bikes, I am 100 percent with Randy on this often over looked subject that folks dont think about until - OUCH!! Problem is, these scoot are HEAVY and, not to sound paranoid but, if a side stand fails broken bones or worse have been known to happen as a result.. Plus that stupid micro switch acting up can drive ya crazy!! -
Not me Phone,, I wouldnt buy no used Yamaha.....

The way it stands right now, it looks like the three of us should be passing thru your location around 9:30 am on Friday. Gonna ride 96 over to 275, down 275 to 75 and than to x-15. Should put us on target to be able to party a little with Raggie and others, gawk at Larry's new Slingshot before causing a nuisance in OHIO.. Glad to have ya along if you folks decide to..

ET, THANK YOU for posting (and with pics)! BEAUTIFUL SCOOT!! I would personally be interested in any morereal life pro and con comparison's you could make between your 88 and your new baby and appreciate those you already mention.. Noticing you mentioning obtaining a center stand gives me appreciation for similarities you and I just may share in needs for the ultimate open road machine. If your ride style includes 2 up riding, I would be especially interested in hearing direct input from you as you grow to love your new machine.. THAT is a gorgeous machine ET, may she endure herself to you and your future by adding many many miles of great times together!! Looking forward to meeting both of you at MD this year. If you see a wore out ol has been on a nasty looking sticker covered 83 with a pretty little lady on the back at MD, PLEASE let me know its you, shake my hand and point me to your new machine!!!!! CONGRATS ET!!!! Puc

In an unrelated topic, did I tell you that I started an investment firm last night? That's right, its called Puc Exclusives.. Minimal investment amount happens to be .001 USD.. Annual growth prospective likely to reach 28 1/3 percent!! Happen to have no sales at this time and only 12000 openings for perspective investors.. "Fine Print" associate with Puc Exclusives investment group: $2000 per month non refundable service fee applicable to all new accounts for one year. Why, go down and help a friend work on his 120k mile Harley Twin Cam Road Kind of course.. This is an early model T.C. Carbed 88 inch. Has had the tensioners swapped out 3 times (including this time). The cam plate with the severely worn front tensioner is the cam plate out of the bike. We are swapping out the oil pump too as the internal race on the sump was in pretty rough shape from scavenging pieces of tensioner plastic - Harley T.C. Motor's have isolated tranny/primary fluids from the engine cases so they are not subject to clutch plate pieces and tranny debris (uncommon anyway) like our Yammies might be. But, those devilish little plastic tensioners can really wreak havok.. The reason we have Wendels Hog down is he noticed a sudden drop in Oil Pressure recently, found the o-ring that sandwiches between the oil pump and the cam plate had failed.. Also took some quick shots of the cam bearings for anyone interested such stuff (I know, most folks find all the gear head nonsense as boring as all get out but,, never know,, might be another wack job like me out there). 1st set of bearings in this bike had PLASTIC cages between the rollers, last job got INA bearings with metal cages, this job is getting full needle Torringtons with no cages.. Have a bored everyone enough? Enjoy the pics, hope your weather is better than ours and your not even reading this but are out riding,, maybe somewhere like Western Utah in the dry, warm desert!!! Oh, by the way, in case anyone is interested.. THAT is the original belt and pulley in the pics too - 120k!! Pretty interesting IMHO.. Puc
