HOLY FLAPPIN FLAMINGO WINGS BATMAN - THAT THING IS HUGE!! Hate to be a passenger when the pilot accidently bumped the throttle when a bump jars em!! -
Sad indeed!! Prayers Up that thru the legal system your friend finds some justice for his false arrest and he is released very soon Sapper.. Man what madness!!

Raggie, thanks for sending me those 200 copies of those flyers.. I got em in all the bike shops here - even stuck the left overs on the telephone poles like you suggested.. This should REALLY be fun!!! PS.. did you look in a mirror and see anything strange like was mentioned? I did,, nothing wrong there at all.. I think someone is and trying to :stickpoke:us..

WELCOME TO VR EW!!!! 100 and 25 million percent in total agreement with what Stache is saying!! Its just like anything else in life, practice practice and practice.. And the roadways are no place to get your practice time in.. The key (IMHO) is to not get over zealous and get in a big hurry to jump on the roads.. I gotta say EW, we have a Honda Helix and ride it A LOT when we are home.. "Scootering" is a ton of fun!! That said, I am also fully aware of the differences in riding skills associated between "manual" shift bike and the automatics. Clutch/throttle control is very important to survive out on the roadways, says nothing for having your feet busy shifting and braking.. It is in your best interest to spend time developing those skills to the point that they become "habit" or "second nature" long before hitting the road - being confused while at the helm of touring bike sitting in an intersection can cost you your life.. These Ventures, ALL OF THEM, are amazing motorcycles. Heavy, absolutely, but totally rideable on and off road with just a little training.. Like Kat said, it might not be a bad idea to start with something smaller and work your way up. Something where the weight of a touring bike isnt in your way of getting the shifting, clutching and braking down pat without dealing with weight...

Rats!!! I thought you might like him though, he was a really really nice guy. It has always amazed me at the cool people I have met along lifes trail (had a conversation with Flyday last night about that - he is another awesome varmint).. Seems like the guy you talked to was disabled or something (think he was even in a wheel chair), had switched over to trikes and still able to ride - AMAZING!!!.. I had a gorgeous xl350r that just didnt sell, neighbor found that guys ad - showed it to me and asked if I would swap the bike for the trailer if he paid for it. Figured what the heck, went down to Holland and got it. Spent almost a day down there yakking with that guy and playing with his bike stuff. Kinda guy that I even told him about VR, thinking he might enjoy the familiness around here. I did have a hunch that he would not get off the rack though cause it seems to me that he told me he was using it for something else.. Oh well, worth a try and at least you got to meet em too:bighug:!!

Mork calling Orson,, today I learned about zippers Orson.......
cowpuc replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Glad you guys found that interesting.. Gotta tell ya, I am planning on making the "chap sticking of the zippers" part of my spring maintenance program! I just cannot get over how amazing it works. I have fought my leather jacket zip for a LONG time and to see how it works now !! I am gonna stop at the little sewing shop that the guy owns who told me about it and tell him THANK YOU again for the info.. I still shake my head when little secrets like that come into my life (even here in geezerdon) and am always shocked at how I can go thru all those years of leather jackets (snowmobile leathers, carharts and hunting clothing included) and have missed that my whole life. Same thing applies to our family here, I am always amazed at the idea's a lot of you folks have come up with and shared - makes this place a LOT of fun and VERY interesting!!! -
Impressions after 100 miles

Another possibilty.. Start er up, take her for a couple mile ride without hitting the brakes, side stand it, spit check each brake rotor for heat. Now reride, hit brakes a couple times while in motion, ride a few miles after doing so without hitting brakes - redo spit check and see if rotors are hot.. Its possible that you have sticky caliper that is leaving enough on the pads to create an over heat at fast speeds - will act like brakes are on.. I know, Puc your crazy BUT I have seen it happen more than once.. -

Could be its starving.. Maybe put her on the center stand, turn the key on and off till the fuel pump quits clicken (carbs are full), get some baby food jars and drain each carb bowl one at a time and see how each amount compares to each other.. Maybe have one or two floats set to low.. Not exactly how sure how much they should have them BUT, I would be happy to drain one of mine out and see what it compares to with yours.. Would not surprise me to have one of our members know exactly how much they are suppose to have.. How is the air filter in it by the way? Also, have you checked the exhaust for mouse nest, bent header pipe and the like? Also, pull the plugs and check em,, maybe so old that they have lost plug gap (worked on one once for friend doing what you are describing - instead of .032, gap had enlongated to .085) and ya got a good case of long arcing happening.. Dont give up, you will find it,, that puppy is just waiting to put a BIG on your face!! -
Puc, Dan,, the name is Puc:big-grin-emoticon: Now that cha bring the subject up though,, please show this to the Warden: Dear Warden, Would you mind making a two sided name tag for YammerDan, put his name on each side - attach an alligator clip to the bottoma, clip the name tag on Dan's nose so he can clearly see his name.. The other side should face outward so others can read his name and be able to remind him just in case he leaves his classes ta home. Thanks Puc

POND MONSTER @ragtop69gs, about our security supplies - I completely missed this thing about the POND MONSTER ,, please grab some aught 6 XTP Hollow Points too (a box of 20 should work out ) just in case that great big ugly mud sucker should decide to play that "I see a bad moon arising" thing and scare some of the ladies:big-grin-emoticon: Gotta protect our women folk ya know!! actually I am kind of surprised that the boss man aint already got that situation under control by now, its all good though - we can just get the critter while late night mole hunting.. Wonder if shining Pond Monsters is legal in Ohio...

Have always liked the idea of having a Chevy 350 mounted on a couple of wheels and have always wondered just what that would be like.. Thought I was gonna get a chance to sample one at Sturgis a couple years ago but, after I got all signed up for the demo ride the guy wanted me to give em 50 bucks and that was a deal breaker.. Anyway, any of you varmints ever own or ride one?? If so, wanna tell us about it? Interested in other folks who, like me, have been deprived of such an experience too..

Oh man Flyday,, end of summer is a long time to be without your scoot brother!! Mississippi is a foreign country to me but, what da heck,, they gotta have bikes down there that you could pick up.. I know one thing,, I would have a hard time leaving Tweeks for the summer BUT, I would at least have a Helix or something hidden down there if I were you.. JUST DONT MENTION IT TO YOUR 1st Gen cause they have feelings that easily get hurt!! Anyway, have a GREAT summer no matter where you land my friend!!!! We can pick up the carb discussion as soon as you get back (or sooner)..

Did you check the diaphrams closely when ya had the carbs down and do a carb sync? Also might not be a bad idea to double check the slides too - they like to get sticky and will keep the throttles from opening all the way. New plugs are a GREAT idea, you could spit check your headers (like checking a hot iron, wet finger tip) as its idling and make sure it is actually running on all 4. 5 grand and that puppy should be just starting to really pull hard and pull hard easily to red line.. The clunk could easily be caused by forks bottoming, all of my 1st Gens came to me with sacked springs. I have hunch (as pointed out a number of times, my hunches arent always correct) that the springs in these scoots will sack just from people storing em on the side stand.. Stick in some progressives and I would not be surprised that your clunk will turn into a noise associated with someone screaming "OH MY GOSH DOES THIS THING HANDLE!!!".. All opinion of course.. -
Note to self: Dont hand FlyinFool my carbs and ask em if the pilot jets looked plugged while he is trying to land the plane
