  3. Funny ol world aint it.. Don just posted that thread about why he has become disinterested in the new Indian (good read brother!!) and then this link came in my mail http://www.smokinjoesmotorsports.com/default.asp?mobile=N Anyone in the Grand Rapids Mi area that wants a chance to straddle one of those Indians, heres your chance!! I may go ride em again just to come back on and the Boss a little, besides - Joes usually has free Hotdogs By the way,, I still dont know why Freebird would even consider going that direction anyway, that Glide of his is AWESOME!!! Just needs to have the wheels ran off it is all,,,,,,,,,,,, and maybe a few stickers:hihi:
  4. BEEEAAAUTIFUL!!! THANKS MIDNIGHT!!!:clap2:
  5. On mine there are numbers stamped into the face of the plate, these go on the outside, facing so if are standing next to the riders foot peg and you are looking toward the rear of the bike, look down and the stamped number is facing you and readable. This would be the left bag in the open position as shown in the pics. Never really noticed an indent, I just put it back the way it came apart.. Does this help?
  6. Wonder if the rear end pins need greasing and the noise is being transmitted to the driveline some how..
  7. I know @Prairiehammer - I KNOW,,, I have torn my gear from here to asunder looking for my other SD Card (lost 4 gig of pics and I have no idea what on earth happened to it).. I am certain that I have pics of you and your scoot on that other card but DOG GONE if I can find it!!!! MAKES ME SOOOOOOOOO MAD AT ME!! ARRRRGGGGGGG!!! I can appreciate your frustrations!!! Like I mentioned in my post, if/when I locate that puppy I PROMISE I will get those AWESOME pics of you up!! No, I am NOT happy either:confused24:!!! ARRGGGGGGG Sorry brother!!!!
  8. Tippy and I have been working stedfastly toward our daughters wedding coming this Saturday. We needed a break, a time to taste freedom from all the wedding stuff so we set aside our Saturday last weekend to ride over to and visit the LST393 located in our home town of Muskegon.. What an absolute amazing time we had!! The over all "feeling" that we walked away from this endeavor with was the overwhelming deep soul stirring thought of the true price of the freedom's we in the free society's of our planet we all enjoy.. I want to thank ALL members of the Military, past - present and future, who have served and who will serve!! NEVER FORGET THE TRUE COST OF FREEDOM!!

    Our Trip

WOW - AWESOME RIDE TJ!!!! Thank you for posting up such an amazing account of it all brother!! Its always a pleasure to ride along on trips like this with good buddies like yourself!!
  10. Hey you ol Sea Puppy!! Not exactly sure I can answer that, what you see in the pics is as far into the mechanism I have been.. I just always popped the cap, lube it and put it back together.. Are you referring to the cover that goes over the spring when you mention disc?
  11. Billmac and I were talking about the new Roadmaster at a recent Puc's Friends Greet - Meet and Eat Hot Dogs (get a plug in here - next time you see one posted make sure you take the day off work and come on out - so what if it cost you your job and you have total financial collapse - Hot Dogs are worth it!!!). Willy (Billmac) shared with me something really interesting that he discovered about the Roadmaster. I was telling him about the heat I had felt while testing the Indian and he was telling me that the heated seats on those puppys are "on" automatically when you start the bike up and that there is a switch on the right side of the saddle that you have to turn "off" after starting the bike. Just sharing this so if one of our VR Family does do a demo they give the bike a fair shake.. Now, in other fairness about the Indian, I too think it is very wise to do the research like Don did (THANK YOU BOSS) and maybe even watch for a posted gathering of Indian riders that you could sneak up on. Attend the gathering and listen to the chatter about how things are going.. I have found, that especially with a "new" breed of bike - folks arent always totally open to sharing vital info about there experiences with outsiders.. Places like the Sturgis Rally (planning on being there this fall) are ALWAYS good for this kind of stuff.. Following up on what Don was saying, I would like to add that Polaris had some real issues with the beginning of their Victory line and basically turned their backs on the first two years of warranty work drastically needed by those early purchasers.. Now I am not saying they are even remotely the same company as they were back then BUT - it might be prudent to also ask around about how they (Polaris) are treating the new Indian purchasers at this time.. Dont misread this, I LOVE the new Indians BUT - if I were gonna spend 30k on a scoot (or anything for that matter - THAT is a LOT of cash in my book) I would want to know what I was getting as a "package" before I dropped the coin:detective:
  12. Now for the feature presentations!!! WOW ZZZZZ WOW WOW WOW - WHAT A BLAST!!!!!!!
  13. I was planning on saving this stuff for great big fat juicy story over the course of this coming winter but (some of you will probably appreciate this) my hands have gotten bad enough that I can no longer touch type effectively and this one finger typing is way slow.. Probably during this coming winter I am gonna have this Dupentrens (crippling stuff) worked on surgically and I will be stuck with just 1 one finger typing.. All that brings me to the conclusion that I may as well post up these pics so all my MD friends can see and laugh at themselves - no fair for just me to laugh at ya bunch of lop eared varmints.. Also, I went to town and purchased a new card to do the video taping of Dan's well wishers and somehow, misplaced the smaller card with a LOT of shots on. I will post those pics as soon as I can locate that little 4 gig card. Till than I will share what I have!! Hope you all enjoy these shots as much as I did taking and viewing them!! Special thanks here to: Don and Eileen for making this all possible! Eagle Eye for not minding having Tip and I surprise him by greeting him at the boat in Ludington and for coming and staying with us!! Starfan for bringing the REALLY cool stickers and stuff from ICELAND for me!! My hero's - Squid and Lonna for making a surprise showing up!! FLyingfool for the excellent kick stand plates and for bringing Frosty who caused such a stir (pics are on lost card). Big Tom for hanging those his left over undies up on the awning that almost strangled a bunch of people (pics on lost card). The 9 crows who were so much help in putting up my awning (see vid). Big Tom for donating to me his winnings from the drawings = a really cool tank bag that he even signed!! Reinyrooster for bringing and giving me a spare 19mm allen wrench to fit the caps on Tweeks forks!! Ragtop69gs for letting me know about the pending bad weather coming our way and him and the Michigan crew willingness to let me ride back to civilization with them!! Ben, Olivia's new owner, for fulfilling his promise to me that he would bring Olivia out for us to view her AND for welcoming us to his home to view his AWESOME collection of WW2 stuff - WOW!!! All the folks who gave up their precious time to show up and make MD sooooo much fun - YOU FOLKS ARE AWESOME and I will always treasure my MD memories with my family during that special time!! I would also like to say how deeply saddened I was to hear of the accidents that happened to Yammer Dan, Eagle Eye and Tooch while traveling to and from MD. I felt your pain brothers (like everyone there). Your healing processes and bike repair (or purchasing a TRIKE) are in my thoughts and prayers! Thank you to everyone for your participation in the video cards for Yammer Dan!! I know I was kind of over bearing in the making of those cards by insisting that you give your name/origin of travel BUT I did it for everyones sake of having a good list to now go by in forever being able connect names with faces.. Terrible at the time I know but now, especially if any of you have as hard of a timing remembering people as I do - you may (or may not) come to appreciate your willingness to do so like I do!! Hats off to each of you!! Here is a link to those video cards in case you missed it: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?104022-To-Yammer-Dan-From-VR-family-who-attended-Freebird-s-MD-we-love-brother!!
  14. Not sure if this is the lock set you are talking about but I have found on the bag sets themselves I gotta keep the slide mechs cleaned and lubed or I am always facing a broken key.. I took these pictures last time I had it apart and was gonna post a thread about including this in yearly maintenance.. Good timing in your questions Sea Dog cause this kind of stuff (especially if your on a cross country trip) can really be a pain in the neck.. I have also found that synthetic bicycle chain lube works great for lubricant in these area's..
  15. Glad you made it home safely Steve. Sounds like your gonna be ok? If you need any help looking for parts to bring that gorgeous scoot back to its perfect condition let me know and I will do what I can!! Hey, those eggs were DELICIOUS!! Hows those egg layers survive having you gone - hoping all is well over there in the Cheese (and outstanding eggs) state brother!! Tip says hi and that too was worried about you!!
  16. Yea bro, I too can relate to the being knocked out and not remembering stuff.. When I was in eighth grade my friends and I would flood the shower room when the gym teacher wasnt looking. Then we would go running inside the school shower room and slide across the floor.. It all started innocently enough with kids sliding on their bellies and backs - just having a riot.. I came up with the idea of trying it standing up - worked perfect till I slid into the shower knobs or something hanging from the walls (part I still dont remember). Next thing I know I wake up with 15 kids and my gym teacher standing over me, laying on my back - naked as a jay bird.. Guess my buddies did the world a favor (depending on your perspective) and kept me from drowning as they dragged me out into the launching area.. Two black eyes and a little hurt pride was the worst of the damage.. Keep healing brother - we are all in this together!!
  17. Fool,, your ok twerk in my books... Wish someone would tell us what the heck that is,, maybe I should not have wrote that:think:
  18. I get that Skidder,, my problem is tweeking and riding seems to have always gone hand in hand in my ever challenging life:big-grin-emoticon: Now about that "Twerking" Cyrus thingy,, dont even wanna know,,, besides - between the riding/tweeking endeavors, aint got much time for movie star (or what ever it is) concerns.. Gotta enough problems trying to tweek Tweeks past 300k

  21. YOU are more than welcome on ALL counts Brad and the pleasure of riding together and spending time sharing with a great friend goes both ways!! Thank you for the phone call letting me know you made it safely back home - GREATLY appreciated @Squidley.. Now that I got your attention, gotta ask you a question.. I just checked my duc tape supply and seem to be missing a small portion of my tape - about a 2 inch piece.. Was wondering if you would look your bike over really good - maybe even under the right saddlebag - and see if you happen to notice a two inch section of my tape having found its way there? I know Tweeks really liked sharing her space with that gorgeous scoot of yours and I have a hunch she may have pulled a fast one on me.. Ya get a second, please take a peek:big-grin-emoticon:
  22. Knock it off Fool,, your giving away trade secrets here!!!!! Next thing you will be saying is that Puc is the kinda person who would do something like this on purpose
