Indeed, THANK YOU for the update about my friend and family member Angel - thanks Larry!! Prayer still Up and Blessings still Down Angel!!

First, I really really want to thank my good friend Skid for bringing this subject up in another thread. Probably because Tip and I spend wayyy to much time covering the country on Tweeks and then tweeking on tweeks to be able to do all those miles - I just lost my connection with modern day lingo and what that lingo meant.. After taking the suggestion to google Twerking (not advisable for younger children), I discovered that I too could Twerk.. I made a video of myself doing the Puc Twerk and it is found below.. My video has only a couple moments that little children (your choice as parents of course) probably shouldnt see BUT - my Twerking is completely safe (ok, except for the scarey face maybe) for younger viewers.. All that said, I now expect to have a Puc Twerking contest at all my future Greet - Meet and Eat Meat parties in the near future..

Oh wow, I had no idea you guys.. Guess I guess I have spent way to much time riding cross country and Tweeking on Tweeks to even have heard of this Twerking thing.. In response to it hearing about it and in an effort to become modernized like a lot of folks, I just googled Twerking and I was shocked.. Actually,, kind of amazed.. As I watched the video of this girl doing the twerky thing it hit me,, heyyyy I could do that.. So I gave it a shot and was kind of proud of myself at how quickly I caught on. I made a short video of the ol Pucster Twerking and am in the process of sticking it up on youtube.. I will start a new thread though cause this Twerking thing maybe the biggest thing to hit VR since my friend Carbon One created those lift adapters to keep our bikes from Twerking on the lift and all of our family here may want to join into this new phase of life!!!!

Dont forget your 50+ lipscreen (chapstick kind of stuff). Works great on noses and above the eyes (wont sweat off into your eyes = burns like crazy when that happens), ear tips and bald heads.. Also can use it to write stuff on your belly and have your name sun tanned across it!! Here is wishing ALL of you Venture Westers the GREATEST time ever - with NO sunburned lips!!

Tip and I would like to THANK to all of our family here for the thoughts and love expressed toward TOTR and our family during this very special time, it is GREATLY appreciated! What an amazingly wonderful, yet the biggest roller coaster ride of emotions possible it was for all of us!! I am now ready to face the next one - I think I may have found my next addiction that is wayyyyy more exhilarating than even riding cross country on a motorcycle and only slightly more expensive You know me well enough to know that I was the first, yep, lost it right when we got to the altar,, I am soooooooooooooooooo happy for Totr but,,,,, believe it our not I am lost for words to explain the emotional roller coaster ride I just got off from ... It was a WONDERFUL experience that rattled my cage of emotions like nothing I ever experienced before!! Tell you one thing, I have got some news for the next person I hear say that us guys have no emotional makeup - THAT was tough!! For some reason my wedding pictures didnt come out the best BUT, I got some great video!! In the following vid: At the beginning is my wife - Tippy, being escorted by our third born "child" who's biker name is "P-Dog" (he LOVED prairie dogs!!), followed at 2:10 in the video by my first born daughter = Awahoo who is seen fooling with the girls hair in front of her - right behind her is our second born daughter - Cappy. Both of these girls are our California crew and have their menfolk with them visiting with us at this time.. At the end of this video is a quick glance (you will notice her scolding me for taking video when we are suppose to be getting ready to walk - also notice how quickly she (the Bride) snapped out of for a quick smile with her dad) at Totr and myself just before the altar walk:big-grin-emoticon:! What a wonderful day!!

I made my living for many years in bike restoration and buiding customs. There were times that I had the honor of landing an opportunity like you are now in possession of Shady, YOU DONE BEEN BLESSED - CONGRATS!!! It is very important that you pre-lube the top end of the engine really well before you ever attempt to fire it up. Dry cam journals, cam lobe, and as mentioned - bore surfaces and all other precision machined area's only take a moment of motor running while dry to end up galled and destroyed. I have also obainded many bikes thru the years that came to me after the owner tryed to start it after an extended storage time and they did not take the time to do what I am talking about and the results are never pretty. Pre-lube it, spin with either a hand drill on the crank or starter with no plugs in it, and pre-lube again.. In the end there is no reason you cant be riding a brand new scoot - how cool!!

Lost a friend of mine 4 years ago to having his cup pop out of his cup holder and get caught in the steering.. I personally use of styro foam cups (even a capped bottle of water can cause problems) and have had them jump out of my cup holder many time (sometimes I catch em, sometimes they bathe me).. I only mention this cause I happen to know first hand how terrible those east side roads can be.. Watch the rough roads - at speed those holes come up REAL QUICK!! LOTS of great VR family over there that will probably chime in here, IMHO, pay attention to their advice..

Any suggestions between a used Royal Star, Road Star, or V Star?
cowpuc replied to TylerDurden's topic in Watering Hole
Coming off those Interceptors you will REALLY appreciate the V-4!! Might wanna dig around in the "history" area here at VR and take a quick check as to when mother Yamaha went back to the higher HP though.. I think up till 03 or something, the RSTD Royal Stars were trimmed a lot.. Nothing wrong with the V-Twin Yams either but, like I said, if your use to Honda V-4 umpph, you will LOVE these Yams.. Durability wise - the Yam V-4 has proven wayyy into nothing short of amazing in what it will put up with, tough as nails - if ya take care of its maintenance needs. Now, all that said, if your thinking you would like to ride a comparable bike to a Harley Potato masher,, Yam V-Twins are great. Personally I think Yamaha comes closer to the "sound" of the Harley.. I also think the V-Stars (I happen to be in love with the Raiders) are great bikes - very durable!! Best wishes in what ever you choose to ride Ty!! Oh yea,,WELCOME TO VR!! Puc -
Oh,, by the way,, need wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more pictures,, pictures pictures pictures - Puc LOVES pictures!!

:clap2::clap2::dancefool: OH MY GOSH BREN,, SHE IS A BEAUTY!!!! Ok, gonna go out on one of my long shot limbs here and guess that to be about a 1985 (tank badge sure looks familiar) FLH Electra Glide in all its natural beauty - WHAT A FIND WHETHER IT IS OR NOT!! BEAUTIFUL!! Being an Evo (not a shovel - I happen to LOVE my Shovels BUT - they are more wrench intensive than the Evo's were). I am sure there are many folks who know wayyyyyyy more about the Evo's than I (have only owned a dozen or so of them) but let me tell ya what - there are lots of good ol Harley boys that believe (and for good reason) that the Evo was the best motor The Motor Company ever produced. One of the reasons why is they are stock gear driven cams, there rocker assemblies are outstanding (shovels were cool looking BUT - again - better know shovels if your gonna do more than look at it), unlike the modern twin cam's - their lifter blocks were still removable (T.C.'s are machined into the cases, Evo's have Timken bearings on the crank. Your bike may be the 5 speed - I always really enjoyed my ratchet top 4 speed shovels BUT - all the 74 and 80 inch Shovels and Evo's (talking stock stuff here) are low R bikes with a short attention span and that extra gear is AWESOME for long range touring.. GOOD NIGHT THAT IS PURDY BREN!! Ok, downfall of the early Evo's, Harley got into a batch of soft cams back then, helped LOTS of buddies and folks on the highway tend to broken cams. If it were mine, I would trust nothing anyone has told me about my bike - I would open it up and start fresh. They also really liked to seep oil around the rear cylinder base gasket. New gasket makeup has been the cure for that for many years. The items you will find hard to find (amazing how much of the stuff you can still buy from Harley or Big Twin or JP or...) will be things like pins for the calipers,,, little high wear stuff like that.. I am with ya my friend - IMHO - DO NOT PAINT IT!! If its stock and original, let it keep its earned scratches and scars,, I LOVE THAT BIKE JUST LIKE IT IS BROTHER!! WOW that is PURDY!! GOOD ON YA BREN - NOTHING SOUNDS AS SWEET AS ONE OF THOSE OLD BIG TWINS,, WOW I MISS THOSE DAYS!!!

Hey Reiny, just a side note about renewing stuff,, read the fine print - some of those internet renewing thingys come with all kind of strings attached.. Just might wanna make sure your not getting involved in something that could lead you into the abyss of , , , , , and from which you can never return..
-
Doesnt Gary (Venturous) have his 02 for sale in our classifieds for the same money? I only ask cause I know he has already swapped out the problematic rear shock for a Hagon (or something like that) and even that is a huge plus.. Plus its 3 years newer.. As always, value is set between a willing seller and a wanting buyer, way it seems to have always worked in my dealings with stuff.. Understanding that, I think an 02 for 3900 is fair and 3 for a 99 would be closer to the mark.. Of course, that is just my opinion which,, in reality is probably not worth even the time it took to read it By the way Phoneman, THANK YOU for helping out your friends!!

Three days,, three days and TOTR (pronounced totter = Tunnel Of Trees Rider) will be a married woman. She is our last born child and has been a treasure to father.. Tot and I go wayyyy back. Her days of sleeping in her Pocahanos Tent, learning to ride a bicycle, playing for hours and hours with her on Hercules (1987 Yamaha Warrior Quad) following me thru countless adventures into areas not fit for man nor beast, crossing America on one of our 1st Gens, attending 3 colleges to become an ISL (interpreter for the deaf) are history.. 3 days and her last name will change from matching mine to that of her soon to be husbands:confused24:.. I love that girl:sun:.. In case you ever wondered what marrying off a daughter (I have 3) is like, here is a blow by blow drama of what can happen. I often wondered where the terminology of "wedding shower" came from.. I mean,, do those women actually spray each other with water or something.. Well, I am now fully informed, I have grown. Now I think the term "shower" should be changed to "flood" because that would closer denote what our home looks like it had happen to it, looks like a flood went thru here with debris of girly stuff associated with setting up a household being scattered everywhere.. The towel industry just got a huge boost in sales as did the silverware industry. Not to far behind is the small appliance industry which is closely followed by clothing and makeup.. In my sneakin around thru all this stuff I have yet to find even a set of screwdrivers or pliers, certainly NOTHING along the line of anything a man could use - like a set of vacuum gauges or even a quart of 20w50 for that matter.. I kind of feel sorry for her fiancee cause I highly suspect that he has no idea that he didn't get included in the flood damage, but alas, he too will soon be an informed person just like his soon to be Father-in-law.. Keep in mind that all the above is PRE WEDDING day, I will keep you varmints informed as TOTR and all her family here finish this task before us.. This is CTFWing to the MAX!!!!

TOTALLY AWESOME ECKSTER!! :clap2::thumbsup: I wonder why manufactures didnt devise a mounting system like that in the first place = lower the center of gravity!! I LOVE IT ECK - you, my friend, are AMAZING!!

I LIKE THE WAY THIS VARMINT THINKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You and me John T - we could have SOOOOOOOO much fun at Sturgis!!
-
I want an Audi just like that one ,,, well,, ok,, maybe just a few more ponies so I could go blasting by the whole mess with nothing but a glimpse of Tippys pretty face staring at all of them as they disappear into the rear view...

May be the little bit of I have inside of me (not normally that way) but I like the way that one's lower trunk looks like its sticking its tongue out at people behind the bike:rasberry:

Excellent response IMHO there Stealthy, all except for the proper name for where I hide my storehouse of Anti Gremlin Ware = its called "The Maintenance Department":big-grin-emoticon: = all Tweeks belongings.. Ladies clothing, make up, shoes, and toiletries are in the "Ladies Department" more commonly known as the trunk. Left bag is Housewares Department.. The rack on the back is Sporting Goods Department = Tent. Left side Fairing Compartment is "ER" or Medical Supplies Department where Tip keeps suntan lotions, finger nail clippers, tooth brushes, soap and stuff (never use any of that female stuff - I just roll on the ground when I get sticky = perfect sunblock). Right side fairing compartment or General Merchandise Department gets frivoulus souveniers that wont stick on to Tweeks.. All this leaves me my very own area for storage = Tank Bag - I LOVE my tank bag!! Not much room for clothes storage in there but what the heck - wearing the same clothes for months on end is kinda fun!! Cruiser, read and reread what Stealthy wrote, he makes a VERY solid point about preparing for others breakdowns too!! It not hard to just carry a complete set of 1/4 drive sockets and stuff instead trying to just pick out the ones you may need.. What this does is create a much deeper appreciation for your fellow man, there is nothing on earth like being able to stop and help others (and just happen to have the tools to actually do something).. This has resulted in some very very solid life long friendships for some of us.. I know it sounds deep and sounds impossible but its really not that big a deal,,,,, at least once your able to get the Maintenance Department door to actually close after packing it:missingtooth:

@cruiserlover, I would be one of those that has benefited by your response. THANK YOU for taking the time to respond!! They you for including a good overall perspective of the differences between the two bikes including both responsiveness to gearing differences and handling thoughts.. My friend, you even touch on something I have been wondering about for a long time = comparing seating comfort!! Very well done Cruise!!

Yep, I have actually seen the overheat you are referring to Don.. This may sound really far fetched but I have a hunch that the water cavity on the Rushmore heads just arent big enough to handle the coolant needed for even just cooling the exhaust valves. Another interesting thing - Larry, a really good friend of mine, bought a brand new Ultra Limited in 2010. That puppy was one HOT son of Harley - especially for his wife. After the bike got about 500 miles on it we ripped into it - mainly to make it pull like it should. Tuner, head work, after market pipes (rid of catalytics), cams, more effecient breather ect ect.. Dynoed out a 103 horse and 106 torque - torque curve straight as an arrow.. Suprisingly, after getting his bike to run like all Harleys should (IMHO) we were shocked to find how much cooler it ran - A LOT COOLER!! I think even just getting rid of the catyletic and sticking on a race tuner so a dyno guy can fatten it up top to bottom (they are really lean from Harley - regs and all that) would be a really good start!!

In an effort to stir the pot a little, sorry Boss - cant resist..

I HEAR THAT BROTHER, I HEAR THAT!!! COUNT ON IT FOOL!!! May see more of em than you want to,, that Tippy is a remarkable lady - she hauled my butt down to Penny's - got me all frizzed up just a styling with an awesome new tux, got to the counter and she pulled out her little tablet and yanked a great big ol juicy 25 percent coupon out by its heals, ended up buying the complete Tux gizmo for less than I was gonna pay to rent one!! As we were walking out the door I told her and my daughter that I could not wait till after the wedding stuff is all over and Tip and I got our next group bike ride in - I KNOW what my new biking clothes are gonna be!! :big-grin-emoticon: That little comment resulted in a knot that matches this mornings!! Tip, she dont need no training Fool and her little knuckles dont need no fry pan!! Of course, iffen I was as deserving as that Yammer,, maybe, just maybe a fry pan would be necessary:scared: -
Now thats some eye candy right there!!!
