WELL,, THAT WAS INTERESTING!! Today was another big day in trying to figure out what da heck is going on with my health. Some of you may remember the ongoing saga Tip and I have been going thru in trying to get to the bottom of things.. Spent my birthday in the hospital back in April and, among other things, they found blood in my urine. That led me to a Urologist who led me into things like getting a prostate biopsy and bladder scope today. Other than being groggy and hungry (eating some skeddie as I type:big-grin-emoticon:) I am not doing to bad!! What GORGEOUS pics and awesome story!! :clap2: Gotta ask, probably sound dorky but are you finding the dryness to have a positive affect on the skeeters and bug life up there? Can a person just pull off the road and camp or is it mandatory to camp in a "camp ground"? Those gas prices are amazing - about 50 cents more a gallon then we are paying back here in Michigan - NOT BAD AT ALL!! Matter if fact - I bet its cheaper there than in California right now.. At this point, if you were gonna tell your friends back home who may someday follow your lead and CTFW all the way to Alaska - what are two of the best roads or sites that you would advise not to miss?? My gosh THOSE are AWESOME pictures!!!

Ya know Bubber,, if you would have contacted me before you posted this I could have come up with a much more believable excuse for you.. Something like, "I was there but it was late and I couldnt find the address on the mail box,,,, as a matter of fact - I looked for 6 hours and checked every mail box within a 20 mile radius and never did even find ONE address on ANY of those mail boxes"!! Hey Cowboy, just pulled in ourselves here and noticed your post.. OUTSTANDING that you got er up and going again!! Lots and lots of great advice in this thread and, even though its irrelevant now that you are back at it, would still like to add that I too have ran into "tight" shifting issues (even though I am also one that does not use his clutch a lot). I found thru the years of riding hot climates (especially desert regions where the tarmac can actually melt your tenner shoes) that loss of oil viscosity can also cause similar issues, as can "boiling" brake fluids associated with the clutch (HAD to ride many miles out there with no clutch due to this).. 15/40 Rotella and the like can almost turn to water in some of that type of heat. A good 20/50 will usually bring back some smoothness on those gear racks and, I have even added Lucas Oil Treatment (couple ounces) at times to assist... Thought might add my 2 pennies in case someone else may forget to move to heavier oil in the heat.. Glad you back in business Cowboy - WOULD LOVE TO BUMP INTO YOU FOLKS AGAIN ON THE TRAIL!! I kissed a frog once expecting him to turn into a gorgeous princess, didnt get a princess (until I met Tip, that scene had nothing to do with frogs though) but did end up with a great big wart on my lip.. Hey Unc - Many many years ago when I first started out in my bike restore business I ran across this very issue. After trying everything under sun to rejuvenate old moldy irreplaceable rubber parts I finally happened across the best answer (for me anyway) when I bumped into, of all things, a copy machine restorer . I was yapping with him in his shop when he pulled out this can of spray and began cleaning up old rollers - when he got done they looked like new. I grabbed the can, wrote down the info and set course to buy the product.. I really really do like intermmitent problems... Key switch had me going once on this same line and so did a main fuse line that had worked loose.. ANother time a bad set of contacts in a fuel pump first started out this way.. Gotta say though, Fools first response was also the first thing that popped into my mine too.. Stinking gremlins...
