  7. Spent the weekend playing around Muskegon's Rebel Road/Bike Night. You bunch of lop eared varmints are probably gonna have to wait till fall/winter to read my full report (look at em run for cover Tippy ) but I gotta post this now... May sound crazy but one of my FAVORITE tires of all time was the Dunlop E2 - man I loved those tires.. Seems like a long time ago that they (Dunlop) stopped making em:95: Anyway, while Tweeks was hanging out at the bike show, our group meandered over to the Indian/Victory display.. While :178:over the new Indian Roadmaster I happen to gaze down and guess what I noticed (see pics). I asked about it and apparently Victory has an exclusive market on and some kind of deal with Dunlop to produce them again!! I havent had time to check out what, or even if, they are purchasable over the counter BUT - I did notice that they are the correct size for the rear (16 inch, 140 - pic is of the 130 16" on the front) of Tweeks!! To say the least,, I was SHOCKED!!! Must be someone out there that also agree's that those Elite 2's were AWESOME tires!! FYI, dont know much about the Victory line up (HELP SILVRT) but I think thats a "Gunner"? that my buddy Tom is sitting on - if so THAT is the scoot that stock with the E2's..

  15. Ahhhhh, but look closely at the riders face and notice his usual seems to be absent.. Now look closely at this little video and notice that at the end of the vid, even after Tweeks got second fiddled in the events bike show by a 57 Harley, both the man and his lovely bride are smiling again - allllll because they are all three, A MAN - HIS LOVELY BRIDE AND THEIR LOWLY 700 DOLLAR MOTORCYCLE NAMED TWEEKS, together again!!
  16. Also, if you remove the oil fill cap on your crankcase and take a quick sniff and you smell gas ya got a problem. Another test you might think about doing is keeping the bike parked on upright on a jack (or center stand if ya had one) and see if you accumulate fuel out of the overflows. As crazy as it sounds, I worked on a guys scoot one time for him who was having a similar problem and figured it out that his side stand had worn enough that the bike was leaning to far on the side stand, causing the floats to overfill the bowls and the overfill traveled thru the carbs and down the intakes instead of flowing out the overfill drains. Came right back to perfect after side stand repair.. Not sure if the Gen 2 have a vacuum line attached to the fuel petcock's (operating a diaphram shut off) but, if it does, it is also possible for that diaphram to go bad and fuel to flow thru the vacuum into the engine.. Just a couple more thoughts to entertain Semi, hope you figure it out brother!
  17. Hmmmm,, nothing? I have a hunch that something was wrong with their machines Joe.. You and I both know that there is something in there,, they should have at least seen a sign that read "for the time of your life, ride and camp with Joe and Bobbie".. Tell ya what my dear friend, take a ride up to Michigan, I will personally redo the Cat Scan for you here in my garage, free of charge. I have a welder to produce the intense light flash, neighbor has a cat that we can lay on your lap and hook the ground strap to - then run another lead from the Cat to your big toe, Tip and Bobbie can watch thru a welding lense for results (I dont see so good anymore) and I will run the controls AND video the whole process for our friends on VR.. Trust me, we will find something brother, we WILL find something!!
  18. Tip and I have ridden the Tri Glide twice, I spent a considerable amount of time on my neighbors solid axle three wheeled Sporty that a friend of mine and I converted to a 3 wheeler for them and have ridden an independent suspended trike (not sure if it was a Hannigan - don't even know if the Hannigan is independent).. Also have spent a fair amount of time on my neighbors Free Wheeler (sort of like a Tri Glide - it is a straight axle). My take is the straight axle types all suffer from one common malady, that being that any form of pot holes or bumps that jar the scoot enough to raise a rear tire can, and will, cause the bike to need the rider to do some steer correcting, an unfamiliar rider could have the tendency to over correct and this could cause some issue. I found this to be a little tricky - especially in corners. It would be easy to over look this if it werent for the fact that a person riding them has 3 wheels instead of two to be concerned with. The independents are way more forgiving in this scenario. Something that really helps in the handling on a solid axe trike is tossing some rake at the front end - rake combined with lengthening the forks and adding some trail into the steering makes them much more stable. Only problem with this is it also takes some of the thrill out of riding them, makes them less go-cart-ish cause it slows down the quick steering. Personally, I have ALWAYS wanted to "Chop" a trike - I think a 16" Springer with a 21" spooley front wheels set at 1/2" of positive trail and a solid rear axe would be a BINGO.. Also, the independents tend to have a much softer ride as you dont "feel" as much movement of the road surface in the bike itself.. Some folks really like to feel what I am talking about, others dont. Some feel more connected to the road because of what I am saying, others could care less.. Durability wise I think HD is right on par with the best of them. I also think HD has a super good thing going for them in the fact that they have support EVERYWHERE, break down with an X,Y,Z independent in the far off reaches of CTFWington and it may take a day or two or week or two longer to get repair parts.. Something to consider on most of independents is that there are a number of additional moving parts with them that a person may want to think about concerning parts availability if one were gonna spend lots of time out CTFWing it.. I gotta say something else here, I spent a LOT of time thru the years riding a Honda 350x three wheeler, my son and I had sooooooo much fun - me chasing him on his Yamaha Banshee (actually it was MY Bansh too ) thru the forests of Northern Michigan. After I finished setting up the rear end on the neighbor's sportie I did some "field" testing with it (the owner was right their egging me on) and I will tell you that there is NOTHING like the fun a person could have with Sporty powered straight axled trike if you wanna ride one like ya stole it.. Completely capable of raising a rear wheel and balancing on two, spinning donuts = NO problembo, slide outs in corners while you tossing it side ways = oh heck yea!! Little trickier on the Sporty because of its "differentialed" rear end (ATC's like the X are solid axes - no differential) BUT - very doable and LOTS of fun - plus that Sporty is street legal...
  19. @Aussie Annie? Lets try this Bill,,AUSSIE ANNIE WHERE DA HECK ARE YA SISTER???

    Why me

Yep, spoke to my staff today, its on... I have a Dentist appointment at 2 pm (only date available pre-Sturgis so I had to take it) so the staff and I are planning a little earlier, it will start at 11 am, figured we would cram hot dogs, chips and pops until noonish, grab some fine CTFWing in the area till 1:30ish and I will have to head to the dude with the diamond bit drills. Gonna post a new thread on this but thought I would post it up here first cause I just KNOW how much you folks, and Drews, LOVED those Puc Dogs!!! Planning for +50 again Bill so you KNOW there will be endless food again!!
  23. Something that always impressed me about the Honda's (I am talking the older 400/750's - NO IDEA ON THE NEWER VERSION 700 OR WHAT EVER IT IS) was that they were true automatic's in the sense that they had an actual fluid drive torque converter (notice the larger "clutch area" on them if you ever see one).. Honda used regular engine oil (not ATF) as hydraulic fluid to power off the veins in the converter - plus they were both air cooled engines (the 750 was still the early SOHC motor like we used for years in chop builds).. This was actually doing double duty on the oil and caused necessary early oil changes - lots of folks did 1500 mile changes.. That said though,, beside "normal" bike maintenance, both the 400 and 750's were totally capable bikes reaching into the thousands of miles with NO problem = VERY durable!! I actually found my 400 auto to be as fast in performance as the 750's automatics that I have owned, probably sounds nuts but that what it seemed like. The smaller 400 ran pretty dog gone good for what it was. If memory serves correctly, the 400 was 3 or 4 valve heads, again the 750 was the old school, pre double over head cam (Honda used the SOHC 750 up thru 78) heads that were 2 valve and the cutest little valves ya ever did see.. Tell ya what though, I honestly think the 750 would have been good for 200k, the 450 more of a 50k bike before needing topend work - especially cam chain guides and new chain type stuff.. The 750's had Hyvo chains to the cam, dont think the 400 did.. If any one decides to take a serious look into finding EITHER of these scoots, PLEASE keep in mind that if they have not been ran for a long time, you HAVE to pull the cam cover(s) (simple on the 750 - almost as easy on the 400) and get lube on the cam journals BEFORE you spin up on their own power.. The journals are aluminum and will gaul instantly if you dont prelube em..
  24. Thats a good one I wonder if the keyfob's on the newer Honda's have a self destruct button on them That would be bad to the bone,,, guy steals the bike - gets a 1/4 mile away - pistons and rods come out of the top of the jugs slicing just the soles of the hoodlums feet up enough so he can barely walk, all the cops gotta do is follow the bloody bare foot trail:yikes: Sorry gang,, didnt mean to sound so inhumane,,,,, I just really despise/have no use for thieves
  25. Spear, THANK YOU for posting this. Tip and I send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of your fellow countrymen/woman who lost their lives in that horrible accident. THAT is a true heart breaker my friend. They have our thoughts and prayers. Puc and Tip
