Tip and Puc will be doing the Pie Butt 26.2, there is 2 confirmed for your count BJ. As far as leaving 20 bucks at the gate and getting it back on the way out,,, WOW,, thats a first!! Must be just far enough from the Rally that they are still operating under "normal" South Dakota code of ethics or something.. I know the Rally folks normally operate under the pirate code of "take what cha can, give nothing back" policy Cant wait to meet you BJ (and others)! ANYONE reading this who has never been to a Sturgis Rally and always wanted to go - DO THIS ONE!! Being the 75th it promises to be a real hummmm dinger:thumbsup:

They have no monopoly on that market Mr. Owl!!!

Gotta hand it to The Motor Company, they have made some major improvements over the years.. Back in the Shovel days I used to pick up enough parts along the trail to the Sturgis Rally to be able to leave home on my Low Rider and come home riding an FLH ... Now adays it seems like the trail is only covered with Tee Shirts, Scull Caps and an occasional pair of riding gloves.. Glad to hear they are finally returning to the old days (I am a retro kinda guy), I will be keeping an eye out for some saddlebags this year - thanks for heads up Eckster!!

CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE SOME AND HEAR THE ENDLESS STORIES OF WHAT WE MISSED!!!! Like Larry said, everyone ride safe out there!!

Personally I would make a toy hauler 1st priority, slide out (at least one) second priority and probably would stick with bumper pull.. Reason why is having the back of the truck readily available for more junk is always handy and its usually a lot easier to find someone with a hitch on their truck in an emergency than it is someone running around with a 5th wheel hitch. Also, as mentioned, these modern day Reese hitches with sway bars pull amazingly well.. Not quite as stable as a 5th Wheel but, set up right on those bars - suprisingly well.. To add to points to ponder on what to watch out for. Before you purchase ANYTHING, kneel down behind the rear tandem and line up the outer wheel surface with the wheel in front of it. Do both sides.. Make sure they are parallel.. If it appears to not be parallel with the naked eye, stay away from it.. I have seen quite a few trailers during our travels with tires eaten off and have noticed a rash of improperly hung spindles (not square) for some reason... Just a thought..

Ya know,, I always wondered why people gotta tighten those little suckers down so tight.. Yamaha spent all that time to make such cool little rubber gaskets and to do such a great job in designing the cover so the rubber gasket fits so nicely.. There really is no reason for those little screws to be put in with an impact driver .. I have ran all my Ventures with those screws loose enough that I can bump em out one handed and never had a leak problem... Same with the oil fill cap, seems like Magilla Gorilla was hired to put the oil fill cap on all my 1st Gens just before I get em.. Things got the most beautiful seal on it,, finger tight for thousands of miles and never an issue..

Also didnt notice anything about upgrading for the 2nd gear issue, never owned one but heard they had the similar shim wear problem as our early 1st Gens. Guy did a REALLY nice job and highly enjoyed the read! Thanks Beau for posting the link! -

So, I got this 87 (I think thats what it is, may be an 86) Mk2 with a good motor in it sitting in the garage.. Plan was to do some repair on it (needs LOTS of electrical work). As time goes on with all this health stuff I am dealing with the making it rideable idea seems to be fading away.. I recently got into a discussion with a guy at our local bike time event about him buying/using the motor out of it to liven up his early model RSTD. Of course, the questions (which I could not answer) began to roll leaving me Anyone know if: Mounts line up? Carbs height the same = will the MK2 carbs fit under frame rails (never worked on an RSTD)? Exhaust ports the same so the RSTD headers will line up? Drive shaft/swing arm mount the same? I also told him that the TCI on the 87 would have to be implemented on his 96, meaning there may be other devices that would have to be transferred? Told him I would ask around here (said he had heard of VR but never checked us out - maybe he will now) and see if one of you lop eared varmints had ever done such a swap.. Actually sounds like a lot of fun, I guess those early RSTD's were substantially detuned - being so, seems like a good running 1st Gen motor with all the fixings may be just the ticket:biker: Thoughts? Opinions? Pro's? Con's? Counsel? Got a true life story to tell? Recipes for cookies? Pictures of your grandkids? This is a hijack approved zone:rotf:

Interesting, Buell might enter the Polaris stable.

Certainly an interesting read Fool, thanks for sharing.. I always thought the term "going concern value" had to do with determining whether or not it was financially feasible for a business stay in operation for a short time while bankruptcy proceeding were in process.. I am with EagleEye in the on that one.. I wonder if, in the context of the story, it just means that the business has production value beyond the actual material asset liquidation value.. Wonder if we got any Accounting major's lurking around here.. I hope somebody like Polaris lands it, they sure did a bang up job in reviving Indian. -
Talking tires,, guess I what I noticed this weekend..
cowpuc replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
's ? How long has it been mounted Sys? I would take it back to the place that sold it and mounted it asap!! Side wall problems are not repairable and nothing to fool with brother, just not worth the risk.. -
