OUTSTANDING Peg!! Hopefully you are talking about The Pie Butt 26.2 ride from Sturgis to Newell on Monday the 3rd of August? This particular thread is about The Hot Dog Butt 5.7 (which, by the way, YOU are also invited to), not that it matters cause, you know Tip and I - life is always mixed up around here anyway.. If you are talking about the Sturgis Rally - it might not be a bad idea to let your thoughts be known on that other thread - never know, knowing you might be there for THE BEST PIE IN SOUTH DAKOTA (according to @bj66,,, I aint never had none of that Blue Liner Diner Pie Butt pie but I totally trust that BJ) maybe it will inspire others to do the same!! Bottom line, CAN'T WAIT TO MEET CHA BROTHER!!!!! On the same token,, if you are on your way to Muskegon to enjoy THE BEST Hot Dogs in Michigan with us,,, wellllll,, get here will ya!!!! If Marcarl and Dogman don't chicken out on staying here at the house you are MORE THAN WELCOME to stay here and join the fun tonight!! Then you can join us tomorrow for the Dog round up!!!

First, WELCOME HOME BROTHER!!! CONGRATS ON WHAT SOUNDS LIKE A WONDERFUL TIME!! Second, thanks for the report on the HD, gotta ask how it did heat wise on you and your wifes legs,, seems like I have heard a lot of complaining about that.. Third, never did know that George had boogers, THAT is very important info that I will treasure for ever. We are planning on leaving for Sturgis shortly, will bring extra kleen-x just for George.. Forth, if you are into Native American and Cowboy lore you really need to give Wall Drug another shot. If you park at the end of the main road in town (where all the tourist trap joints are), go into the "Back Yard" and just inside the building on east edge of the complex is the most amazing collection of Cowboy and Indian pictures.. And Fifth Let me know how that works for you:big-grin-emoticon: Personally I dont think it will because of forum rules but hey,, you never know - it might work,,

Now that right there is a daughter to be PROUD OF!!! CONGRATS YOU TWO!!! Now,, about those pictures,, on my way to watch you play!!

Sheeshh Eckster,, been "borrowing" parts for so long I forgot about that... Now that cha mention that it's really got me thinking... Maybe Carl is in contact with varmint visitor's from the past,, snowball affect if you will.. Started the snow ball rolling with the 1st varmint pictured, I borrowed his carbs right after he got off the ship in Ludington, notice him looking down trying to figure out what I did to his bike.. Second guy was all grins when he walked into our home cause he thought he was safe after locking his trailer up to our picnic table in the back yard.. Apparently he had forgotten that I wasn't "borrowing" trailer parts Then there was the varmint who rode all the way over here, picked up a camping trailer from me but even with that - he acted like he wanted to leave before it got dark. And the last guy showed up on a Honda ST1300 which didnt appear to have any interchangeable parts on it except for maybe the mirrors.. Funny thing was that even after he personally showed me how easy the mirrors were to knock off the bike - I happened to notice they were still wired on (for security?)...

Thanks for the compliment brother but I really gotta reply to this.. Those stickers and stuff are actually fully functional animal warning devices.. The stickers confuse animal life and the Horns serve as a warning to the lop eared biker varmints attending Rally's like Sturgis.. The Horns are also fully functional parking locators for the same - see vid!!

Just got a note from Dogman.. He was gonna come and sleep over at our house and ride over to the latest "Puc's Greet - Meet and Eat Meat" on Tuesday with @bluestar99 and his wife, Tippy and I and who ever else happens to show up at our house for the ride that will end at THE GREATEST HOT DOGS ON EARTH.. Anyway,, according to the note Dogman P.M.ed me - Marcarl is gonna ride over with him but, get this,, Carl wants to get a MOTEL instead of staying at our house. I think M.C. is a scaredy cat... Or maybe this is all the result of me getting more hugs from the women at Don's MD than he did or maybe he is askeerd I will stick a sticker on his Canam :witch_brew::witch_brew:

TOTALLY AWESOME GARY!! :clap2::dancefool::dancefool: LOVED em all but gotta say,, it is REALLY good to finally see a pic of my buddy CarbonOne in his new scoot!! THANK YOU!!!!!
-
Besides that Yammer,, it pretty dog gone hard to get off a 1st Gen and get a really good look at it when your passing everything else on the road
-
Funny ya mention that Bill,,, I was chatting with someone early in the evening and after chatting with a certain person I think you and I may very well be thinking the same thing... Gonna scoot over for a Dog with us @billmac?? Be glad to have you!! This is gonna be FUN Let me know if you lost your list and need some directions - I am GREAT with directions
-
You betcha dogman!!! Gonna send you a PM here shortly with my address and stuff.. Looking forward to seeing you again and introducing you to Tippy - she cant wait to meet you brother and both of us look forward to sharing a BUNCH of mighty fine Hot Dogs with you!! PS - should be PLENTY of xtra dogs if you wanna bring along a pooch or two!! You should try and talk a couple of those other lop eared varmint Canuck friends of yours to tag along too,,, should be a really fun day!! OUTSTANDING TOOCH MY MAN - SOUNDS LIKE MY KIND OF LOP EARED ROTTEN EGG .. Seems how's we aint got no silverware left since the last set of lop eared varmints visited us that Dogman will have to be happy with the plastic ware we have been using since.. Side's that brother, I been building the coolest 2nd Gen Venture one piece at a time with parts I have "borrowed" from bikes of visitor's past and I happen to know that Dogman rides a gorgeous Midnight with some parts I could use:big-grin-emoticon:. Plan on using the motor out of Tweeks so my "new" bike should have no problem out running those hounds that keep catching dogman
-
I know one thing for sure,, if I had me one of those 2nd Gen thingies I would HAVE to have an add on center stand cause, sure as hounds chase rabbits, the minute I headed out on a two month tour I would pick up a nail on a rear tire and end up having to drain all the gas, water and oil out of the dag nab thing to invert it on the side of the highway right in front of a bunch of Harley riders headed to Sturgis if I didnt have me no center stand!!!
-
But,, they don't have as much sticker room either As long as we are yakking about the two,, have any of you varmints who have owned both noticed any major differences in wind handling abilities that they would like to share?? Maybe one of our western folks who live in area's where hard cross winds are as common as the tumble weeds they carry? I have always wondered if the sleeker fairing design on the 2nd Gens made a difference from the standard ol bat wings of yesteryear.. Another one that I would really be curious about is the Voyager fairing,, the one with all the "lines" molded into it.. Out of curiousity I wonder if that design is a functional design or was it just for looks...
-
Yea,,, and dont try using no weak battery as an excuse not to show up,,, that Jonas and his crew of misfits are the best bump starters known to man!!

A,, ,, refrigerator,, :rotf::rotf::crackup::crackup:,, NO OFFENSE my dear friend but THAT comment made me spit my cereal all over my keyboard :rotf::rotf:.. We got a LOT in common Tooch,, when I was a kid my friend had 1963 Yamaha 50 step thru (like in the picture if the picture worked). I always said it sounded like a cucumber.. At any rate brother,, you made my day with that one!! http://auctionsamerica.com/images/lots/LV12/LV12_r555_01.jpg I personally have never even ridden a 2nd Gen and really have no idea how they compare to the 1st Gens - that said it still is fun (and meant in :stickpoke:fun) to needle the folks who also enjoy tossing it back and forth. Personally I have always enjoyed the "refrigerators" :big-grin-emoticon:fixed framed fairings for long distance travel, especially in the high winds of the western states. I have ridden out there with a bat wing attached and the stand alone windshield types and can honestly say the uglier frame mount fairings are less tiring and seem to be more stable IMHO.. That said though, I have NO experience with the modern day "bat wing" stuff and would certainly LOVE to try a long distance ride on one.. My first 1st Gen was a Blonde Royale with EXACTLY the body that GW chose to stick on his "invention".. Gotta say that picture really made me :guitarist 2::happy65::beer:.. Would I buy one if that exact bike is what Mother Yamaha came out with for a Gen 3,,, yep,, I would if I could afford it (borrowing $$'s is not in my nature)... I LIKE IT, A LOT!!!! I know ya did it for fun GW but THAT IS AWESOME!!
-
Thanks Rbig!!! That may be all :photographing:'s you have but it looks like a whole lot more 's than anyone else has so ya done GREAT young man:witch_brew:!!

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:clap2::dancefool:

Very well put BJ! To go a little deeper with your point, IMHO, us guys seem to be a little more stimulated by vision than our counter parts. I will say this though, I am surrounded by a group of ladies who are just as deep into the Harley mode as their men folk. Funny you mention the NFL BJ cause that same "group" of ladies are just as passionate about their football team (gooooooo Packers is all I hear from them when its football season). Personally, I think when it comes to marketeering that Harley has done an amazing job and a lot of the Harley craze has been a result of that lifelong campaign on their part. When you think about it in it's purest form, they have single handedly managed to keep an air cooled tractor motor on two wheels for a very long time. Not only have they managed that small task (tongue and cheek of course) but have done so in such a way that the ol air cooled motor of theirs has been so tweeked that it is not only able to be as reliable (in most cases) as it's modern water cooled counter parts but it IS the most sought after motorcycle in biking history. It's copied over and over again by every other manufacturer in the world (what the heck - copy catting to the point that HD even had to protect the "potato potato" sound from their competitors) and it still maintains to be the most sought after engine/frame/style design in the history of biking - not just in North America but the world over. In the end though, I still think there is something about the raw eye candy appeal to the mighty HD Big Twin that most bikers find appealing. Perhaps it does have to do with some brain washing thru marketing of the masses like Barry mentioned, perhaps it has to do with something called nostalgia in some folks minds, perhaps it has to do with wanting to look cool for some people.. All I know is that when I see someone on their HD (or whatever) out enjoying the CTFW like the guy in the pic that DJ posted, I am inspired to lean back on Tippy's torso, stretch out my legs and put a foot up on a bar, lock my throttle, let the worry's of the day disappear and fill my mind with the thrill of enjoying another day of CTFWing all while listening to the wonderful song of "potato potato potato" for hours and hours on end.

I'll have mine to go please....

Now you folks are on MY kinda ride:clap2::clap2::dancefool:!!!! I LOVE the west too brother and there is NO better way to see it than exactly the way you two are seeing it!! MAJOR kudo's to each of you, THANK YOU for sharing your experience and THANK YOU for sharing each one of your GORGEOUS pics:thumbsup: May your awesome weather continue and those beautiful western roads continue to lead you both into more breath taking experiences like you have already shared!! Loving every moment of this!! Puc

I can TOTALLY understand that BJ.. Obviously your Argonomist has a got a really good head on his shoulders. Kind of like Freebird and what he has done for this place we all call home. It is amazing how just having to put a tiny little bit of skin in the game creates a better experience for all those who are willing to do so. Whether it is intended to work that way or not, it seems like it always works out that way. Also, concerning the water situation, years ago I was out Cow Towning in S.D. and noticed a big tanker truck attached to big overhanging hose thing with a sign next to it - so much $$ to refill your tank.. Got talking with one of the local town folk who turned out to be the Mayor of the town. Come to find out, the truck tank was that South Dakota's really neat little cow town's water supply. I was telling him how odd that was to see after coming from living on the shores of Lake Michigan. I can only imagine what could happen if someone, like your farmer friend, wasnt watching out for his own best interest - especially with thousands of people from all over the planet descending on SD. I DONT BLAME HIM ONE LITTLE TINY LITTLE BIT BERNIE!!!! I will say this my friend, I have met some of the most AWESOME people EVER out in your State! MY KIND OF FOLKS!!

Now that ya mention it Jeff, I havent either. All the bumper tow toy haulers I have seen have the garage rearward - kinda makes sense cause I wonder how you would access the garage of it were forward of the housing area - maybe side load? Personally, If I were going to have a toy hauler (and the rig to pull it with) I would want one big enough to haul a car if necessary. No idea what that would add up to size wise but it just makes sense to be able to do double duty with if needed.. Now if it was unlimited budget time,,, that picture that GW has been planted in my mind for a longggg time - GORGEOUS GW!!!!!!!

Right there with ya bro!!
