Well put Dana and totally understood:thumbsup: It didnt go far the last time I mentioned this but I honestly still think it would be cool to have an International Rally located as close to the center of North America (Canada/USA) as possible. I am sure part of the reason that this would never work out is because the bulk of our membership (if looking at the members map is accurate) is in the south eastern U.S. (strickly an opinion I formed by looking at the map) and because no one has volunteered to host one (pulled that thought from reading what Freebird has written in asking just that).. In the end, I personally looked at Orlin and Sharon's offer to host the International this year in Wisconsin thru the very lense that you are speaking of and saw it as closer to ground zero than any of the other choices. That is one of the main reasons I voted for them (besides the fact that they do have some AWESOME riding right out their back door) - fact is I think it would be WAYYYYY cool to have equal representation from all corners - southeast and southwest Us to Northeast and Northwest Canada:thumbsup: I know,, I am crazy,,,,,, a lifetime of attending that big centrally located Sturgis Rally out in South Dakota and meeting folks from all over the world can do that to a guy:big-grin-emoticon:

Yep, ditto and word for word on what Dan is saying.. I have worn out 5 of the 83/84's (that includes our current scoot with 300k on her). I lost 2nd gear on 3 of the 5 all before 50k. The 2 that second lasted on made it all the way well past 200k and still had second gear. I have been short shifting our current bike (named Tweeks) since she lost 2nd - over 250k with no second gear. Concerning the frame issue, I have personally yet to experience a broken frame but, if you read what these pro's (thanks for that response Randy) have written you can take it to the bank that they are shooting square with you Lit.

Rats, was hoping there may be an easy way for Lit to take a peek... Sounds like he will know right away if he takes it for a ride? Any idea if we are talking about the same general area as,, I think it was @Venturous Randy dealt with not long ago (seems like he took one all apart and had it welded up)? Is there a "common" breakage weak spot on our early frames or was this just something with the MK1's? Sorry to hi-jack your thread Lit - just trying to help out a little...

Can you see it by looking under the scoot Dan O' or do ya gotta rip,, I say,, rip er apart in order to see it? Hey @litteacher , did you happen to check for the tranny stamp that its there!!

Indeed, it was GREAT to meet you Chaplain and to get a first hand peek at your new scoot!! Prayers Up and Blessings Down now as you hustle around getting that speedo cable reattached my brother!! Heyyyy, Gladwin Michigan,, how cool is that @ChiefCass!! I did a LOT of dirtbike stuff over there back in the day.. Also did a fair amount of deer hunting in the Glenny area. Tell you one thing,, that Icelandic brother of mine sure does mighty fine work,,, JUST BEAUTIFUL JONAS!!!:clap2::dancefool::bowdown:

Yep, my memory worked,, this time.. Check this out Lit, we got a super mechanic here named Dingy who answered the question perfectly with a pic - that @dingy - he is keeper!!! http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?100987-Anyone-know-where-what-the-quot-Repaired-Stamp-quot-is-suppose-to-be-for-83-85-2nd-gear-issue
-
Hey Lit, you could also check above the forward gear for the little punch mark that is suppose to be there if it happen to have gotten the second gear repair way back when.. It would be WAYYYYY cool if you happen to be one of the fortunate ones who got the stamp of approval.. I think there is a picture of the stamp floating around here somewhere - if I run across it I will link it to you. Otherwise, if you look at the top of the forward bevel gear area you will see a couple raised area's about the size of dime, I think its the front "dime" that is suppose to get the stamp.. Personally, out of all five of the 83/84's I have owned I have yet to have one with the stamp,,,,,, and have also driven a fair amount of miles on em having to short shift from 1st to 3rd too .. GOOD DEAL ON THE SCOOT AND HAVE FUN WITH THE PROJECT!!!

cowpuc replied to Freebird's topic in Watering Hole
Ah ha!! Finally the comes on!! Dont feel bad brother, I have ridden near the area that Orlin lives in for years on my way to Sturgis or just heading west.. Just never Ventured down into his area - always wondered what was down there.. Made it to his MD this past spring - could not believe what I had been riding right past all those years -

toure classic squeaky forks
cowpuc replied to hell yea's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Another thought, just thinking out loud here.. Maybe the springs are sacked enough that they are actually rubbing against the wall of the fork.. Possibly time for some Progressives... Or,, maybe they dont have enough Fork Oil in them and you are just hearing springs work... Any history of fluid loss? When was the last time you swapped out the fork oil? -
Just discovered something,, picture resizing made easy..

That is way back on a Two Track on the back of the Bad Lands in South Dakota @Brake Pad.. Open prairie camping at its finest!! On another note though,, yea,, I pretty much have always enjoyed just riding till tired - drop the tent - fall asleep and get up and do it again.. Do wake up in some strange places though my friend!! Not all quite as plush as camping out in the middle of no where OH MY GOSH I FORGOT MY HAT!!
