Advice needed. Engine intermittently stops
cowpuc replied to Rhybsky's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Never owned a 2nd Gen but if I had that new of one and was having problems like your describing I think I would start by draining the bowls into a glass jar and looking for water, check the tank vent for blockage and making sure that my fuel lines were not being pinched somehow.. If that didnt produce, move on to double checking the shops findings with the pump and then to the pump relay.. This didnt begin happening after washing the bike or riding in rain did it? -
So, what are the 10 heaviest bikes on sale right now?
cowpuc replied to Eck's topic in Watering Hole
What da heck,, am I the only one who read the article,, the last line explains in perfectly understandable english what a Kg is = "439kg is about 70 stone – as much as Britain’s former fattest man at his peak." actually I thought "Kilo" had something to do with drug running or something.. After reading the definition I am not sure I was so far off:think: -
@suds, I have spent a little time onboard the 1st Gens in perpetual tour mode and have swapped out a number of tires in the process.. Because of the minimal miles we have gotten out of our tires (due to 2 up, loaded up, HOT TARMAC of the western states) I have often thought about Dark Siding it.. Had a neighbor with a Valk that was Dark Sided.. Spent a fair amount of time on it - not bad after playing with air pressures.. He hated it - I liked it.. Spent a fair amount time pawing around for a Dark Side for my 1st Gens (have owned and wore out 5).. Found what I think may work to my satisfaction (click on link).. Problem is I have become so adept at swapping tires on my 1st Gens (can have rear tire off rim in less than 30 minutes) and usually able to find pretty good prices online for regular scoot tires that I just havent been able to spend the 150 bucks to "test" my hunch that the Dunlop below would do me for over 20k miles.. Would LOVE to though!! Anyway,, here is what I would try if I had the xtra cash to play with - https://www.universaltire.com/dunlop-tires/dunlop-radial-tires/175r16-austone-taxi-black.html

Dag nab it bro - ya beat me to it!! Actually did once, got a room, it was nasty, put up the tent on the lawn - we camped (wife and kids) on the lawn of the motel Another occasion, when the kids were little we took a weeks vacation over at Six Flags over Illinois,, in a place called Gurney (or something like that).. Anyway, we stayed at this really awesome joint called "The Hitching Post" - pool side room, ping pong tables, pool tables (you know - with que balls and all that), sauna room and on and on.. Had a BLAST playing there when we were not at the park riding the Bat Man!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway,, after a week of fun we headed home.. Had major traffic problems, then some car problems, got late,, got lost in Chicago,, ended up getting really late, kids getting whiny wanting to get another motel.. Pulled into the UNREAL joint (only place with any vacancy) - walked up to this three inch thick window,, shady looking character appears behind the window,, told him I needed a room for 6 of us,, dork wad says $135 - cash only, peeled off the cash, walked to the room, place was right out of the twilight zone.. I had to repair the air unit to get it to work (5 pound coffee can of nasty stuff off the evaporator to get it to work), lights didnt work, funny "spot" on floor turned out to be the outline of a body (just like on "cop" shows my 8 year old daughter tells me in the morning (as my wife and I were laughing about the fact that the beautiful "Hitching Post" back in Gurney was only $59 a night).. And people still still wonder why we tent camp...

COOL - wayyy cool!! Tell ya one thing though, would hate to have a flat on that puppy.. Have ridden down many a scoot with a flat tire (including fully loaded 1st Gen Ventures with 2 up) and, bar none - the very worst was our little Honda Helix.. All because of its low center of gravity and length = really tricky to get her stopped...

Oppsss,, someone musta forgot about the Slingshot.. Got yapping with my dear friend @Carbon_One at a recent event about his - I might be wrong but I think he said his scoot is 1700 pounds.. Also wonder where the Boss Hoss falls into our discussion Eckster,, seems like that big ol V-8 scoot would also be right up there.. Interesting discussion my friend - THANKS for posting!! -
Prayers Up GW, sorry to hear about all this (medical stuff can be SO frustrating).. Been a little over a year now with multiple doctors trying to figure what has been trying to put me in the grave (at least it felt that way). Long story short, it wasnt until I was jacked up with Prednizone (artificial adrenaline) during an ER Visit last spring that I actually felt better and, ironically - my blood pressure became controllable. Found out I was Adrenaline Deficient.. Ended up at an Endocrinologist.. After taking blood pressure meds for many years, this guy explained something I had never heard before.. One of the adrenal glands main functions is the control of BP - go figure.. Bottom line, if you haven't already done it (your pretty sharp - you probably already had this done) you might want to have your Cortisol levels checked just to be sure things between your Pituatary and Adrenal Glands are happening correctly, simple blood test and WELL WORTH THE TIME!! My thoughts and prayers are with you GW!! Puc

Chaplain Dusty made it safely thru Detroit and is ON HIS WAY!!
cowpuc replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
OUTSTANDING Chaplain (on both causes)!! Knowing that big beautiful fancy camera of yours, you probably are gonna have to resize the pics to post em up Dusty.. I been doing so using "Paint" - posted up a thread recently about the how to's of it but I know if you scroll thru the forum titles - somewhere toward the bottom of the forum page selection is an area where @Freebird has a thread that describes other way(s) of getting the job done.. I will say this,, most (if not all) of the struggles I have seen on here having to do with posting pics are resolved totally by getting the pics sized properly (someone correct me if I am wrong here ) After making sure the pic's are sized properly (I try to keep my camera set on "640x480" but have resized and posted pics up to 1000x750), if you are in a thread - click "reply" - click "Advanced" - scroll down to "manage attachments" , screen will open to "browse attachments", click on browse,, find the pic that has been resized that you want to post, Click "done" when ya got all the pics you want to post uploaded.. After you click "done", the file names should appear in your the rough draft of your posting down at the bottom by their prespective file names. When you post it is when the pics appear.. Best way to learn it Dusty is by trial and error,, dont worry if ya mess up - these guys are a forgiving bunch,,,, keep playing with the thang till ya make it work cause we SURE wanna see the pics of that Grand Child of yourn!!!:thumbsup: (and would REALLY love to see the pics of your trip too my brother!!) Any other questions, feel free to ask, call the house,, send a snail mail or just SCREAM PS,, ice cream sounds GOOD!! -
You da man Wiz :clap2:!!! CONGRATS on ride well done!!:dancefool:

Run Off VOTING for 2016 International Rally Location
cowpuc replied to Freebird's topic in Watering Hole
Here in Michigan our State and Federal lands are similar to most of the western States = open - camp for free anytime.. Anyone know if WV is like that and if there are State/Federal Lands in the area of where the International will be held? -
While I too totally admire his creativity and ingenuity I really fail to see the common sense (or respect for his neighbor) in running around the neighborhood dumping that nasty black soot on people out for a casual stroll . I have kids that live in California and KNOW first hand where @Condor is coming from but I honestly think that we creative folks (and there are a BUNCH of us on VR) serve an even higher calling than the ones laid forth by even the great state of CA Jack.. Probably sounds nuts but, from one gear head to another (like most of you folks, there are a few "off the wall" machines in my past too) he should never have even pulled the thing out of the garage until that smoke beltching monster's engine was brought up to proper running condition:doh:. Could make a difference between the smog cops showing up and having your tools takin away from you (or worse = BAD relationship with your neighbor's/fellowman) and having the neighbor's standing in line taking pictures and wanting you to build em one Other than that - heck ya,, running right = I would GLADLY ride that Mad Max Road Warrior machine right down main street during the Sturgis Rally with a great big smile on my sun tanned face :big-grin-emoticon: I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Took a long weekend to the Mountains. Payson, Arizona
cowpuc replied to videoarizona's topic in Watering Hole
OUTSTANDING DAVID!!! I can easily see how you could have spent a lot of time camping up there,, matter of fact - just looking at those 3 pics that you posted made me see 3 places I now have to go drop my tent at someday:big-grin-emoticon: Especially that last one with the perfectly good flat surface of rock just the right size for a 5x7 Menards tent:thumbsup: -
Hey Or,, bottom line - THANK YOU for paying attention to the road and not allowing those "stupids" to commit harie carie on the front of your pick-up truck (and possibly injuring my buddy Orlin either)!! Seems like that old saying of "ya cant fix stupid" is getting proven on the roadways a lot more often these days.. You da man brother!!
-
Why thank ya Bill for telling it like it is.. Indeed, it is a ton of work setting this stuff up BUT - well worth the time and effort cause the final outcome is ALWAYS AWESOME!! You are right brother, that last one was a dandy! I know everyone really enjoyed the pre-Hot Dog tour of the area and EVERYONE loved the parade - in the planning process I wasnt real sure how that would all fit into the culture and aura of what has become one of the nations greatest Meet n Greet opportunities (way things are going - I think the whole thing is gonna be bigger than the Sturgis Rally) but it worked. @mirider and I were talking and I told him that I almost had the funding together for firework's too but not quite there yet - perhaps next year..

Not bike related but- Im SOOOOOOOOOO happy to hear this
cowpuc replied to Eck's topic in Watering Hole
Right there with ya Eckster - to ALL the LEO's and civilians who had anything to do with capturing this varmint (if he is guilty)!! I know similar things have been going on up here in Michigan - seems like when they built I-94 down by Battle Creek they didnt know they had placed it on a rifle range between the bench rests and the targets - been a BUNCH of damaged vehicles and a couple people injured by flying lead down there. I dont think they have harvested those culprits yet but, given time, I hope they do my friend and will be :clap2::dancefool: just like we are right now over the incident you brought up! -
WHen I meet with my staff to discuss next years Party Planner I will purposely set out to adjoin some weekend get togethers just for you over worked, never taking a break to smell the hot dogs, sweat pouring from your eyebrows bunch of lop eared varmints.. I gotta say though,, there have been a number of folks who attended at least 1 of these great outings who were also employed at the time.. Some came from as far away as Canada (@Dogman, @Marcarl and the latest being @habfan).. As a staff member, @billmac has been a HUGE assistant in reminding me of upcoming dates for future Hot Dogging.. I am for ever thankful for his assistance and will be looking for his guidance in date selections too (Bill made ALL of the 2015 Greet - Meet n Eat Meats).. Concerning any fear of getting you bunch of lop eared varmints all in one place @Flyinfool,,, I actually think having you all together is safer than having you spread out - lots easier to keep tabs on the likes of you troublemakers when your all in one place!!
-
I be thankin ya mightely there Captn' Bob while me lady and I be listenin to the tune!! and the mast will rise again me friend.. Puc
-
Funny you mention that AWESOME tune brother!! I looked and looked and looked for it Bob,, I REALLY wanted to post that song up with this - would you be kind enough to relink me my friend - pretty please:fingers-crossed-emo
-
We have our heading!!!
-
All on the same team of trying to keep things alive around here Roller.. The last thing many of us want to see is that good ol International go by the wayside (that Bossman skeerd me when he mentioned the possibility of it disappearing) and I was SOOOO thankful that folks like you, Orlin and all the others stepped up with such AWESOME remedies:thumbsup:!! Count on me to continue with some healthy in an effort to get as many of these lop eared varmints to attend that AWESOME 2016 West Virginia International Rally that you folks are cooking up for us down yonder!! Look forward to seeing you again down there my friend!!
