Indeed, you will probably get all kinds of response to this Spence and most folks are gonna say = that Puc, he is crazy but - I wouldnt hesitate one minute on purchasing that jack, slipping her under my 83 and jacking it up.. I am gonna try to attach a pic here showing exactly that.. Been doing it for years, have never had an issue with crushing pipes, pipes loosening at the head or elsewhere.. On the same token though - I do a little trail riding on my scoots when the need arises and most of the undersides of them are not exactly dent free anyway - few goobs of welds and weeds hanging down and all that.. I have tried many different approaches to what your talking about and have found right on the pipe aronies to be the solidest lift points.. Another point though, I think the square tubing on the lift in the pic is about 2 inches in width.. Depending on on the width of the lift arms on that jack your looking at, gotta be careful with narrow lift arms - I think the potential for crushing pipes would go up if your lifting with 1inch width arms... Maybe cut a couple two by fours to lay on the arms must to spread the weight wider on the pipes... The lift in pic is a harbor frieght lift, I lifted my 83's many many times on it from the pipes - works great..

No idea if the clutch parts are interchangeable but I am thinking the 87 may have the diaphram spring? If they will swap out, I would grab the clutch, fuel pump, water pump (83's had the plastic), Stator, Rectifier, speedo and all the relay's from behind the headlight.

One of the GREAT things I LOVE about our site is that each one of us now have the scamming world kinda by the toes if you will.. What @stanG has done here is exactly why I say that. Also his stopping and prechecking the scoot out for Dusty BEFORE the Chaplin found himself faced with that sick feeling of facing a machine that was totally misrepresented.. Personally, I think we are fools (go back to sleep @Flyinfool - your radar picked up the wrong message = wasnt talking about you behind your back = this time ) if we are seriously headed down that familiar road of purchasing something in another demographic area and dont at least post it up and see if some innocent bystander VR member varmint () who might live near said scoot and give em chance to get a quick peek.. He said something about it being old and being set to being constantly looked at for authentification where this new one goes right thru and is not being constantly monitored.. Also moved it upstairs so now I have 5 bars of signal instead of 3.. Checked all the lines, set up the phone on 1 pair and the router on a separate pair too.. I explained to him how competitive our site is and that, being a hard core 1st Gen rider - I aint use to losing.. Owners of the shop probably took their marketing classes at the same place the folks at places like ABC Warehouse,, the old "sorry, we are out of that model but...." Hmmm,, I wonder if a person could use that same scam for a Meet n Greet,,, M n G sales ad reads - free Hot Dogs - Pop - Chips and all the trimmings.. Then folks from all over North America show up only to find the scammer has nothing of the sort - tricked em all into showing up just to take advantage of a chance to get to meet some new friends, maybe get some pictures and a few half baked video's Seriously though Stan,, THANK YOU for the heads up about Approval - between their sneakiness with our friend Dusty and now this little ploy I too would suggest steering clear of those rascal's.. Start at the bottom and work your up with the spray, that way if its a leak in the lower area it wont be triggered by spray running down - leading you to a false location..

Back in 01 when I still had my bike shop it was common practice for me to help the Franchised Dealerships out by purchasing their left over new scoots. A Harley shop in Indiana had a Concord Grape Purple Wide Glide they just couldn't sell (thing was drop dead GORGEOUS - had golden inlaid Harley emblems on the tank that looked like they were imbedded 3 inches deep - WAYYYYYY PURDY:178:). I picked it up way below wholesale - brand new still in the crate.. They wouldn't let me take it with Certificate of Orgin so I had to leave it a couple days while they put it together. Jumped on Ebay looking for buyers.. First guy I contacted was bidding on a new Black Wide Glide. Told him what I had, he said THAT is EXACTLY the color I really really really want BUT Harley told em 1 year wait for that paint job - offered me 1500 over MSRP? The man asked how soon I could get it to him out in Jersey.. This was a Thursday, was picking bike up on Saturday in Indiana, told him I had just finished a 2 month western tour on my Venture, could do 50 mile break in (thats right - Harley had an UNDER 35 mph 50 mile breakin back then ) on way home in Ravenna, head to his house and be there by Monday no problem.. Come to find out, guy owned a HUGE car dealership in Jersey - about 1/2 hour from Manhatten.. He said if you would do that, I will Bank Transfer money for the bike, overnight you plates - insurance, pay ya a buck a mile for your time, treat ya like royalty when here, put ya up at a top class motel at the airport and fly ya home first class . I reminded him that owning a new car dealership - maybe he could have the biked shipped with Certificate of Origin - still in crate - put his own bike together for fun,,, NO NO NO _ WANT IT NOW!!! Met me in his driveway, patting the back of his 3 month old baby girl (PRECIOUS), dressed in shirt n tie, super nice wife - LOVELY couple! Guy lived in a home high in these hills, told me place was 30 million - it was BEAUTIFUL!! He says,, wanna go explore the City - I will ride my new bike and you can ride my "old one" (his "old" Harley had under 2k miles on it).. Of course I said YOU BETCHA!! He disappeared for about 20 minutes while I sat playing with da kid.. Came downstairs dressed EXACTLY like you are talking Lenny!!! LOTS of really super awesome Professional folks do exactly what you are talking about - go to the Sturgis Rally sometime if you wanna see the extreme of it.. Pretty unique really...

Pull the little cover on the master cylinder up on the left side of the handlebars. Check and make sure it has fluid in it, let us know what you find..

OHHH YEAAA!! Me too brothe:thumbsup:r!! They actually made a couple of Soft Tail springers too Don. The one I REALLY would LOVE to have is the Heritage Springer - thats the one that has that "Olivia" look to it.. Had the horn mounted up under the headlight and the "hood ornament" on the front fender = wow zzz wow wow wow.. I personally liked the last year of the Evo's in that bike cause they still had the reflectors on the seat.. The early Twin Cam models were VERY SHARP though.. The other springer soft tail had a narrower front tire - more of chopper look, they were sharp but I like the Heritage Springer better, that dog gone Olivia poisoned me I think By the way @Condor,, you are more than welcome champ!!

Just got off the phone with my provider,, they tested their junk and said they will be sending a repairaholic out in a couple days. Said my line tested outside of their parameters. Also looked up my router, said it was 3 years old (where da heck does time go) and that he would also look replacing it while here. I tried to get em to ship me a new router like they did once before but the tech on the phone said "lets let our guy take care of all of it at one time", good with that since its only suppose to be a couple days till he shows.. So far I have recovered my hard drive (started from scratch), rebooted my router (unplugged and restart), got all my pics and vids backed up on a new external hard drive, tired Explorer on the "new" system = wont run VR, downloaded Firefox = what I am on now and able to get on the site a little, downloaded Google Chrome since my buddy @mirider is putting a whoopin on me with his = cant connect to VR. Puters running superrrr fast again (NICE) but VR is still a hard one to log on.. Another interesting thing that popped into my mind you guys, remember a while back when someone was questioning not being able to log off on the site? I have noticed that I too have a hard time logging off on the log off icon. I know Don mentioned back then that it really doesnt matter cause we get logged off automatically (if I remember correctly:missingtooth:). One of the things I have noticed is that after not being on the site for a couple days is that I am still logged on.. Don, just curious,, is it possible that everyone who logs on is being kept logged on and that is creating some kind of bottle neck or something.. Not trying to make more work for you my friend - just tossing out random thoughts.. Usually, especially lately, it has taken several attempts to log out here.. Not thinking virus stuff Jack cause this is a brand new recovery - like getting a new puter... Wish this were a bike we were all working on together,, puters aint as much fun THANKS AGAIN YA'LL!! Been trying again all morning, was only able to get onto this thread by clicking on the link in an email that came because Kev responded to this thread (clicked on the link and it loaded). I have another tab open that has been trying to log in for 15 minutes - little swirly is still spinning but nothing happening. The little swirly is also still spinning on this page while I am typing this note so no idea if be readable. Gonna try those sites that Jack posted, also - what is this ping thing Boss or Kev? How does one go about doing that? Oh, by the way - THANK YOU for the help folks!!

Gorgeous scoot Jack, looks like a twin cam (99 or newer) judging by what appears to be the modular tranny. Cant really see the cam cover of the space between the push rods well enough to see there,, what the heck is that between the pipes right under the breather:think:.. Almost looks like a magneto setup on an old sporty but that aint possible,, not enough mass or piping for turbo,, not long enough for gear drive blower,, interesting - veryyy interesting.. Anyway, for sure its a "B" motor (balanced) cause thats what they used in the soft tails like that - notice the oil lines? B motor for sure.. Not as peppy as the "A" motors like they put in the other models (non soft tails) but good motors. Wheels make it look like a CVO/Screamin Eagle.. Tell ya what, bought an 07 Super Glide Custom, nice bike 18k miles - running rideable for 3500 from a Harley dealer who needed money bad (bought in January - they hadnt sold a bike since October). Resold in spring for 6500 without to much trouble.. Would guess you would be "safe" between those number,, make sure it runs good before you bid though - if ya cant run it thru the gears = take 2 grand right off the top cause they aint cheap to fix:happy34: Thats my opinion brother,, next time I am in town I will buy ya a cup of coffee = the java's probably worth more

:rotf::rotf::crackup:My puter is made in China and I think there is a little Chinese guy living in it Well,, I went to full extremes,, we picked up an external hard drive today, pulled (get this) 195 gig of pics of this beater, did the old recovery routine (wiped out the hard drive and reinstalled to new specs.. It got so bad that I couldn't even open the opening page here - tried and tried earlier and finally got on - it was when there were well over 100 other users on the site (hate to beat on a dead horse but it just seemed like the more users on the site the more difficult it was for me to get on - maybe it was just my imagination but it really did seem that way).. I just tried Explorer with the fresh recovery and Explorer would not load the site. Downloaded Firefox and that is what I am running now.. It did take Firefox several attempts before it would load up VR - also noted that there are 58 others signed in = less than the 100 plus earlier.. My next step is going to be to get ahold of our Service Provider and see if they will send me a new Router and line filter. I am running DSL, land line phone here in the house is crystal clear so I dont think its "noise" on the line thats causing issues. Running Windows 7, 3 gig of memory. Loads all other sites right up including Youtube, netflix, Craigs, and other forums (spent some time on a V-Max forum - bunch of smarty pants - I missed you bunch of lop eared varmints:doh:.. Anyway, gonna keep at it till I figure out what in the wild world of sports is going on here.. Maybe hafta set a "mouse" trap with some Sweet n Sour Chicken on it for bait Dan:guitarist 2::guitarist 2::crackup:

What in the wild world sports is a PEBCAK Joe???? Ok,, so heres the deal,, I am running Windows 7, Firefox for a browser.. Thing that's crazy is that the problem is happening with both Lap Top and our Tablet. Even happens on hook ups away from home (Mcdonalds).. I can access all other sites - load right up and navigate just fine at Ebay, other forums, Craigs and on and on.. Here is the really really weird part,, I have noticed that if there are over 70 people logged on to VR I have trouble accessing the site and it gets worse the more folks that are signed in - if its all about only the strongest survive I feel like I am riding my little 1 1/2 horse moped .. Maybe its just my imagination but I dont think so.. Gonna try to post this now and see if it will load..

Not sure about that right now but it sure is the fix for my neighbor with the brand new V-Rod :stickpoke:
