Funny you bring that up @Marcarl,, Tippy just walked in the backroom with a BRAND NEW package of French Roast Coffee and said "look what I got,, now the next time one of your buddies comes to spend a night and ask for Coffee we are all set". So I told her that you had a spare bike you didnt want to put pictures up of and that you probably would ride it here to show us just so you could get a cup of real coffee.. Know what cha mean Mama, our Venture keeps going and going and going and going (should a named it E.B. for energizer bunny).. Poor thing just wont give it up.. They are truly remarkable machines arent they sister! Havent heard if Ron figured out the clutch fluid loss problem? May be a slave cylinder seal leak. That is not that uncommon on these and other hydraulic clutch systems.. Please tell him all the best in the repair!

WOW ZZZZZ WOW WOW WOW they sure are GW! LOTS of folks who clearly blame him (the rider of the bike) for the accident. Had he just not chosen to break the law and cross the yellow lines non of this would have happened.. There are lots and lots of folks who clearly show no "situational compassion" for someone who clearly broke the highway traffic laws and who may have been attacked by a very disturbed individual with the intent to kill , few others that do show compassion (obviously - his go fund is over 8k at this time) thru their monetary support and prayers.. Definitely some polarized perspectives... Something occurred to me while reading thru the opinions over there.. Anyone on here happen to remember the Green River Killer deal that happened back in 80ish.. The people being hunted and killed were Prostitutes, ladies of the night who were breaking some of our countries oldest laws and also most moral laws of God - real hardcore everyday law breakers.. Apparently some guy finally had enough and figured it was time to off a bunch of him - to some, like myself,, a REAL nasty bad guy who clearly had something wrong in his way of thinking (IMHO).. One day I was out with a group of buddies and we got chatting about those murders.. The guy hadnt been caught yet and it was the hot topic of the day.. During our discussion a point was brought up and yapped about.. The point being that if the Prostitutes would just quit breaking the law all would be good.. A couple of the guys even mentioned that the Prostitutes were responsible for their own demise because their illegal activity was clearly making them targets for this lunatic.. I argued the point of wondering if once the guy got control of the Prostitutes thru his murderous ways if he wouldnt just start on the next group of folks who happen to upset him, maybe even people who were perfect, never broke no laws, never swore or even told a lie or nothing..

Gonna scoot over and check that out GW,, definitely lots of stuff coming to the surface.. Thanks for the update!! Also, here is a copy/paste of some follow up I posted in the Water Hole thread on all this: Take a look at what the circumstances surrounding Crum's "Terrorist Threat" guilty verdict in the past was founded on.. A lot is brought up in this article that may or may not shed some light on Crum's actions.. http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2015/10/20/m...shotgun-in-07/ And then there is this article: http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2015/10/20/d...orcycle-crash/ Where this was found: Deputies booked Crum into the Hood County Jail just after midnight on Tuesday, saying that he was uncooperative then and remained so later on Tuesday. His bond was set at $75,000 for each charge. Before being arrested, Crum explained that the swerving was his reaction to a spider bite. However, he was captured on video saying “I don’t care” about the motorcycle crash and the two victims. “On that particular road,” Crum said, “I’ve seen them do wheelies at 60 mph, and I thought he was one of them. I didn’t know there was a passenger.” In Crum's mind,,, it seems that this whole incident would have been explainable and justified if this double line passer on a scoot would have been one of the other bikers who he had seen doing a wheelie at 60 mph?

BEAUTIFUL PICS DAVE!! :clap2: Congrats to you and Sue on getting out and enjoying the day my friend..:dancefool::dancefool: Now,, about this lop eared varmint Puc not being home.... If you folks originally from Fremont Mi would have hired teachers who would have taught their students how to use a tape measure I would not have had to run all the way back up there to return a 14 inch wheel that was suppose to have been a 15 inch wheel and I would have been able to have gotten the ol snow bustin KIA finished yesterday Or, another version,, if Tippy would have reminded me to take a tape measure and check the rims the guy at the scrap yard sold me to make sure they were the right size.. In the end though,, I sure wish I would have just held those rims against the diameter of the rims on the car before we headed in to have our new tires put on YESTERDAY cause we could have been riding/visiting with you two today:95::95: THANK YOU FOR THE 's!! Tip says HI to Sue!! I say :rasberry:to you!!!!

I would be saying something along the line of,, Prayers Up for all the folks involved in that horrible traffic accident and if it were put to a poll like this thread was I would have voted "Accident" instead of "Crime"... Probably still be involved in a pretty interesting debate here though:big-grin-emoticon:

Count me as one to agree with you Starfan. Now let me add just a little insight into how strange/different I would respond if I witnessed something like you just described Jonas.. If I came upon you and Gretta (or anyone for that matter) facing a person shooting at, or even pointing a gun at you for an unpaid meter charge, he would be hit by an 800 pound Jacketed Hollowpoint Howitzer round named Tweeks and it WOULD BE INTENTIONAL.. In other words,, I think there actually is a time and place where turning a vehicle into a weapon is both honorable and justifiable.. On the same token though,, if you were getting written up at that same meter by some honey on cushman scooter (Meter Maid?) because you broke that traffic law I would probably and then :rotfl:cause ya got by a lady on a scooter... It's what I been trying to say,, I am having a hard time seeing the "apples for apples" - one I see NO humor in, the other is full of endless :stickpoke::crackup:

Or,, would it have just have happened somewhere down the road,, perhaps to you or I just out for an afternoon ride and ending up in the wrong place at the wrong time, a place we should not have been.. Take a look at what the circumstances surrounding Crum's "Terrorist Threat" guilty verdict in the past was founded on.. A lot is brought up in this article that may or may not shed some light on Crum's actions.. http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2015/10/20/man-says-i-dont-care-driver-chased-him-with-a-shotgun-in-07/ And then there is this article: http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2015/10/20/driver-arrested-for-granbury-motorcycle-crash/ Where this was found: Deputies booked Crum into the Hood County Jail just after midnight on Tuesday, saying that he was uncooperative then and remained so later on Tuesday. His bond was set at $75,000 for each charge. Before being arrested, Crum explained that the swerving was his reaction to a spider bite. Thats the point I am still over Lenny,, I just can not see it.. I dont care if the guy had no insurance, no plates, no helmet, crossed 20 yellow lines, and was riding backwards on an R1 going 150 miles an hour with his girlfriend sitting on the front fender.. All of those are traffic violations which I simply have a hard time seeing the same as someone who attempts to take someone elses life.. Thats why I mentioned earlier that if the guy on the bike had abducted (had the girl on the scoot against her own will) the girl then yea,, he and the guy that tried to kill em (if its proven in court he did - we do still have "innocent till proven guilty" I hope) would be on equal footing from my perspective.. I DO respect your thoughts here though Lenny (and everyone elses too) and truthfully NO hard feeling on my part cause we dont agree.. I just cant see the "apples for apples"..

StarFan is being offered a new old car-what should he do ?
cowpuc replied to StarFan's topic in Watering Hole
Now THATS what cha call a good Father-In-Law,, AWESOME !! OUTSTANDING MY BROTHER JONAS - "WE" DA MAN:clap2::thumbsup: Sounds like a really awesome way to get into a really awesome rig Starfan, CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE THOSE 's (you knew that was coming didn't cha ).. Only couple questions,, are there regular Jeep Dealerships in Iceland to do maintenance and repairs ( you and Gretta NEVER need em cause I love you guys)? I don't know a lot about owning/maintaining a diesel powered vehicle but have heard there is a little more to them in that regard than with gasoline - maybe one of our buddy lop eared varmints will point things out. What da heck brother,, gotta drive something,, MAY AS WELL DRIVE SOMETHING FANCY LIKE A "NEW" MERCEDES POWERED JEEP - FANTASTIC!!!:dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::clap2::clap2: Jonas,, I thought I had remembered hearing something about a major recall thing on the Jeeps.. I was able to find the article below (in Wiki) that was the one I had heard about. You might wanna read thru it too but on first read it does not appear that the 07 Cherokee was involved (the Liberty was). May be worth doing a little deeper digging my friend, gotta keep you and that precious Gretta safe you know!! ALL THE BEST and CONGRATS!! Puc In 2010, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) launched an investigation into 1993–2004 model year Jeep Grand Cherokees which involves the fuel tanks of these SUVs. Because the gas tanks are mounted between the bumper and rear axle, a rear collision could cause the fuel tank to leak, causing a fire. The NHTSA claims that it has reports of 157 deaths resulting from fires caused by Grand Cherokees crashing. Also affected are 2002–2007 Jeep Liberty models and 1986–2001 Jeep Cherokee models, which totals about 5.1 million affected vehicles.[41] In June, 2013, Chrysler Corporation responded to the recall, agreeing to recall 2.7 million Jeeps, though eliminating both the 1986–2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ and 1999–2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ from the recall. The recall will include 2.7 million 1993–1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ and 2002–2007 Jeep Liberty KJ vehicles. Two weeks prior to this recall, Chrysler Corporation claimed that the affected Jeep vehicles were safe, though agreed to recall the affected vehicles later. To remedy the problem, Jeep dealerships will install a trailer hitch onto the rear bumpers of Jeep vehicles that will protect the fuel tank if the vehicle is involved in a rear impact. If an affected vehicle is not currently equipped with a trailer hitch, one will be installed onto it, and older Jeep and non-factory aftermarket trailer hitches will be replaced with one from Chrysler Corporation. Despite the recall, the market for these Jeep vehicles has not suffered.[42] -
Shooot Sailor, even I know the answer to that one, then it would be all the gun's fault

Removing a Broken Key
cowpuc replied to Patmac6075's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Go back inside Harbor and purchase one of their cheapy jeweler screw driver kits, go back outside and use the backside of your 16 inch Channel Locks and carefully beat the one of the screw driver blades against a rock into flat, bendable piece just a little less in width than the remaining key thickness. Repeat with another of the screw drivers.. If you do not happen to have a pair of 16 inch Channel Locks, it can be done with two rocks but they need to be fairly smooth.. Now bend the flattened surface of the blades at about a 15 degree angle.. Slide the blades one at a time carefully into the lock while feeling for the outer edge of the key where the tumbler notches are cut.. When you feel the key find the slot, gently push down until you feel resistance.. Do the same with other blade. Now move the handles of the screw drivers carefully toward the outside of the lock and gently lift up.. -
All opinion,, maybe someone who really knows will chime in!! Shifting pin maybe but I find it difficult to think the fingers on the arm that engage the pins have enough throw to actually grab another pin to index the drum to the next position if ya got a pin missing.. I am guessing maybe a loose screw on the end of the shift drum (the one that holds the "star" with the pins in it in place. Maybe the "finger" mechanism that connects with the pins is bent from heavy shifting or somehow not engaging the pins correctly.. I was contemplating that maybe the cam follower that holds the drum in place as it is located with the pin/finger engagement could have a fractured arm or broken spring but that usually results in a "will jump gear on its own" syndrome so I doubt that is it.. Alllllll that said,, you will have to pull the clutch cover, dig into it and let us know what you find!! At least it doesnt sound like a case splitter!! PS,, dont wait cause waiting and riding it like it is could easily turn it into one!! All the best in the repair Puc

I would agree as long as it could be proven that the rider of the bike had abducted the passenger and she was not riding with him under her own free will..

Remember those Black "8" Ball fortune teller things with the window on top,, the one you would shake as you asked it a question, stop shaking it and your answer would appear in the window (I LOVED PLAYING WITH THAT THING)??? No? Oh well,, guess I just "dated" myself... Anyway,, just asked this question to the "8 Ball" that I remember in my brain and it said "Undoubtedly, irrevocably, irresponsibly, undeniably, certainly decisively, totally conclusively YES"

:clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown: Gotta let you know Eckster, all that above is in response to what your neighbor did!!! He kinda put it all in perspective didnt he:guitarist 2::happy65: In a world that can seem overflowing with people trying to take advantage of others, a land of hard found real respect for a person's long earned skills and patience in applying those skills and where it seems like most times people only care about themselves - suddenly we get a wake up call that all that really isnt so.. There really are some very decent people out there and YOU my friend have one for a neighbor!!

I keep my spare keys in my "tank" bag (which is actually a CD Case Tip and I bought at a Goodwill out in Idaho for a dollar).. I usually dont take the keys out of Tweeks when we park her cause I am afraid I may loose them and not be able to find my spare keys cause of all the junk in the bottom of the bag.. The main reason I even have spare keys is because I have broken off keys in my bag locks and I really dont want to have to crack the bags like an egg to get inside to get Tippy her girly stuff.. Concerning the matter of "theft" protection,, sometimes I park Tweeks in high theft area's (not talking places like Sturgis - aint no thief even remotely interested in taking her when she is parked near a bunch of 35k dollar HD's) and watch her, hoping that someone will try to take her. It would be fun to watch some low life ride off - hit her missing second gear, then watch his face as he realizes she has no brakes either That Tweeks is one crazy ol girl,, I gotta hunch that if some thief actually figured out how to ride her she would eventually find her way back to her stall with a note hanging from one of her horns that would read - "Dear crazier person(s) than me - I am sorry I took your bike, she turned me into an honest man, I will NEVER EVER EVER steal ANYTHING from ANYONE not EVER again" signed "a rehabbed thief"

It didnt LOL,, -
Back in '78 I took a month off my welding job at Unit 3 for the Boilermakers, hopped on my then brand new 78 HD Lowrider (MY GOSH I LOVED THAT OL SHOVEL!!) and headed for California.. Outside of Ventura I was zipping along on a 4 laner, feet propped up on forward bars, leaned back on my tent/bag going no handed (had tooth pics shoved into the throttle to lock it down).. A "CHIPS" officer came cruising up beside me a couple lanes away - riding a Kawasaki ,, I reached behind my head, grabbed my camera and snapped a pic (still got it somewhere)... WOW ZZZZZZ WOW WOW WOW, thought I had just become public enemy number 1 CHIPS pulled me over,, ask me WHAT THE HECK DID I THINK I WAS DOING?? I was VERY apologetic for taking his pic (thought that was it).. He reamed me up one side and down the other for going no handed,, both hands on the bars at ALL TIMES when your in Cali he screams.. His non-debatable platform consisted of a threat that had hardly ever really concerned me,, that being the "fact" (his words) that there are people out on those highways that HUNT motorcyclist, "that will purposely go out of their way to run you over" he says.. As he began to clearly see I was listening to his every word he calmed down and told me of several instances that he knew of where "criminals who were clearly not fit for society who had actually purposely killed motorcyclist, I have personally put away a number of them".. I guess this "Crum" is one that he missed

Wonderfully put Jonas:clap2: Its times like these when I begin to understand why our site has to be limited as to what we can discuss. Truthfully, I LOVE open debates and treasure other persons thoughts and opinions on subjects like the one contained in this thread. Not because I want to stand in some form of judgement but because I really really enjoy us all being different. Truthfully I enjoy the sharing of opinions on here almost as much as I enjoy it in real life. IMHO though, the problem is that debating from behind a computer screen causes us to miss the better part of communicating, that would be body language, voice tones and the like. I truly think those missing elements make it way to easy for folks to become disagreeable just because they disagree in opinions - also IMHO, being willing to openly disagree is an honorable and noble thing - also a WONDERFUL part of living free , becoming disagreeable destroys that nobility, honor and erodes the freedoms we all enjoy.
