Sounds GREAT Huggy :dancefool::dancefool: ,, with your Canadian connections then we can go into business together - run a pipeline from here up into Canada , open our own fuel station line up there called "Huggy n Puc's", sell our fuel for 2/3 of any one else in the area and still make a good living!! Why we could even give a 5 cent per gallon discount to all VR Members and even have free Hot Dog Days :scratchchin:Quick question for ya my soon to be house guest, any idea if,, being an "international company",, would we have a choice between or systems to spend our retirement years in together if our endeavor proved to be slightly underhanded?

I feel for you (and all my Canadian brothers) Hugger!! I remember paying just under 6 bucks a gallon out in Death Valley California a couple years ago - cashier didnt even smile when I handed her 30 bucks to fill up my scoot .. Be curious to know, short time ago when we were paying 4 bucks a gallon here in Michigan - what were you folks paying? What has been the highest/lowest you guys have had to pay for fuel? Wonder what off shore prices are like, @StarFan - what are fuel prices like in Norway and Iceland?

YEEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWWW $1.69 in Muskegon Michigan:happy65:,,,,, oh, wait a minute there's more,, using a 3 pennies off card its $1.66 Now if it would warm up I would summon's my Hot Dog cookin crew and toss a great big old fashioned best of the best Puc's Greet Meet and Eat Meat and invite EVERYONE to come for a...... Oh, wait a minute,, got over overly excited about the price of fuel and almost hi-jacked another thread:buttkick:

Thats weird Don, I was thinking the same thing about the Strat/Roadliner - checked the roster and could find none of the "1900"'s listed so I didnt go there.. Was kinda scratching my head cause I thought the Yamaha Dealer in Sturgis told me that he was anticipating an updated Strat into a touring bike.. Hey,, you notice that East Side in Toledo is having some killer deals on left over Indians? Man those are pretty bikes!! -
@Pegasus1300 ,, hey Paul - how's your weather there in Utah? You still riding? You thinking of doing the Pie Butt again next year? Hope so - was LOTS of fun brother!!

Funny you bring this up Cruise, I was just playing around checking the same thing out,,, come on Mother Yamaha!! Speaking of 1300's,, it seems like just yesterday that 1300cc's of motor was HUGE... Where'd the time go.... -
See ya got tank vent checked off already cause that was the first thing I was mention,, lets see here.. Beau, if I were there I would grab a new plug, ride the scoot till it stalls and wont start -leave the key ON - unplug a plug terminal and plug in the new plug - ground it and hit the starter to see what cha got spark wise. If spark checks good I would repeat the same process, run till it dies - turn fuel petcock off as soon as it dies, open carb drain and see if the bowl has fuel in it. If it does, remove air filter, take a squirt bottle of fuel, run till it dies and squirt a little fuel into the carb throat and see if it fires. You said you did a compression check already, never worked on a Roadstar (I am assuming we are talking about a "Roadie" = 1700cc pushrod motor?). Gonna go out on a limb and say if it is a pushrod motor it probably has hydraulic lifters. If it has hydraulic lifters - perhaps the lifters are collapsing under usage so the valves arent opening correctly - seems kind of far shot but I suppose its possible.. Must say though, in the end, it would not surprise me to find that your problem is fuel related and related right back to that rusty tank. I have done many restores thru the years and lots of rusty tank jobs in my bike restoring and have never had any kind of luck with just cleaning the tank and then adding in line filters with hopes of removing remaining rust - just never worked for me. That nasty fine stuff would always find its way thru even the best of filters and plug up jets. Always seemed like I ended up in similar shoes to what you are going thru and then recleaning carbs and all that - got tired of chasing my tail and started coating everything that came to me rusted. My last several years of business I used a product called "Red Kote" for relining tanks and found it to do a great job (I still know of several bikes running around with tanks I sealed 20 years ago that are doing great) - far superior to anything I had ever used before. I KNOW how ya feel brother - been there many times.. Stick with it, you will get it figured out!!! All the best Puc

Another one for you Eck, years ago - when I was a kid we had this thing called "State Insurance" that we could purchase through the State of Michigan. Most of us kids carried it cause it was the only way we could get on the road (no money ya know). For 25 dollars the State would "insure" you BUT - ya had to pay them back if ya got in a wreck.. I had the brakes go out on my 1964 Chevy Pickup one time at the last stop light in Grand Haven while carrying State Insurance. Lady in front of me with a brand new Cadillac slammed on her brakes when the light turned yellow - I ended up with one of those big ol Caddy tail lights embedded in the hood of my truck. State Police were across the street so we went over there. Ended up costing me 350 bucks to get her car fixed (dont sound like much now but back then that was a ton of cash).

Now that I loosened my chin strap up my brain kicked into hyper mode.. No idea how this fits into our topic here but, wanna know something that has always bugged me? Around here most folks call a "water heater" a "hot water heater"... That has always bugged me Sorry for the hi-jack

That we did Bernie,, that we did Thinking you might be asking a lot brother,,, I had to tighten the strap on my thinking cap pretty tight just to come up with the "A's and B's" Ok,, how's this Chap Stick Coke Dremel Tool Cresent Wrench Channel Locks wow that hurt, gotta loosen the strap and take a breath:hihi:

Now THAT is fantabulous Eckster, sounds like even though the guy who damaged your truck is a bone head he may have gotten a decent insurance company:thumbsup: Prayers Up that it all works out the way it is suppose to my friend! By the sounds of things you did the guy a HUGE favor by not getting the police involved - could have ended up with some real problems if parking lots down there are considered public right of ways and those DUI laws would have been enforced. Hopefully that loser learns something from all this and puts the keys away next time he decides to Long as I got cha on the line here, do you folks have, what we in Michigan call a Catastrophic Fund attached to the No Fault that you pay into with all your policies? Around here there is that "fund" that we pay into (last time I checked it accounted for 130 bucks on each policy - may be higher now) that once a claim goes over a certain amount the Insurance Companies access it for reimbursement. We have to pay into it on our bike policies too BUT, get this,, unless a bike accident involves an Auto that fund is not accessible - kind of a crazy setup.. You guys got something like that?

and we're off and running!! :stickpoke::witch_brew: it's kinda strange, I took that @bj66 as the last person in the world to create the biggest thread known to man - gonna be a long winter for those who dont have Pella windows to keep the cold out.

I met some of those lop eared varmint southern VR members a couple times and can attest that Jarhead picked the right area to post this thread in!! :guitarist 2::guitarist 2::cool10::cool10::cool10:

In Michigan we have "No Fault" Car Insurance,, its really kinda cheesy cause it pretty much removes personal accountability from the equation and leaves it up to each parties insurance to take care of the damages to the car that the policy is written for.. I am no insurance guru but I am thinking the most a person here can get from another person's insurance is something called "mini-tort" and it has a limit of under $1000 (last time I used it it was $400). Eck,, are you guys a "No Fault" state? Not sure when is the best time to bring your insurance company up to date on all this BUT I do know that at some point they will become involved, usually this stuff becomes a battle between them instead of addressing the real issue of the lack of personal accountability.. Lets all hope the guy is just sleeping one off and he proves out to be a decent person and reports this like he should.

First off, let me say to VR @Rossboyd.. Now onto the question you asked in the shout box. Couple questions about your question just for clarification.. By "low speed" are you talking about the infamous 25 to 40 mph wobble? I am assuming that is what you are asking about - THAT has been a common problem for many of us 1st Genners. Personally, I have had 5 of the early models and have dealt with it on a number of them. IMHO, that nasty wobble that keeps us from being able to stand up and go no handed at slow speeds is a pain in the neck and one of the downfalls of the 1st Gens. If I were going to attack solving the problem on your scoot I think the first thing I would do is smack the brake calipers with a rubber mallet - couple wacks each on the exterior to make sure they are loose/not dragging and then see if the wobble goes away by riding it before you hit the brakes and reset the calipers, might sound crazy but I have found that brake drag can cause that wobble. I would also check is the front tire - center stand it - spin it and see if you can feel or see wear. Look for cupping and distortions or anything that does not appear correct. Nock the calipers loose again and check wheel bearings for movement. Also check air pressures in both tires. Also, it is possible that a front tire/wheel balance may help BUT (and this is just my opinion) most unbalances from a tire seem to become more noticeable at high speeds = low speeds like we are talking usually mean something else is wrong. Next would be neck bearing torque, that setting acts a lot like a steering dampner in many respects. Because of the weight on that bearing it is VERY common for it to be out of spec on one of these beasts. Also, how are your fork springs? Sacked out springs (this is VERY common) can also cause it - Progressive Springs and a fork oil change can also help a lot. Also,, the bushings in the fork legs that guide the upper tubes thru there movement can become worn to the point that they allow fork movement which can cause issues like we are talking too. If you look between the fork legs above the front fender you will see a chunk of aluminum that binds the forks together. This serves as a fork brace to stabilize the front end. Maybe double check the bolts holding it in place (never found a loose one but it could happen). Many of us have gone to a heavier brace, I think we even had a member or two here who actually made these - @Carbon_One (REALLY GREAT GUY!!) comes to mind - may be wrong but even if I am he is still a great guy and a good friend. In the end, and if you can find one, you may find one of these to be of assistance.. Good luck on your endeavor to be rid of the wobble! Post up here to let us know that you got this! There are MANY folks on here with lots more experience in solving the problem you have touched on - we can get some of them to chime in!! All the best! Puc

Not bad really my man!! WOW that exchange rate is stupid crazy The one in the pic that I posted is on the other side of the State from me. Be a perfect scoot to park over Olivia's vacant drip pan !! Thanks for the info brother!! -

The CB Radio thing was a comment made from very older experience (not even sure if either of those companies still exist) so cross off radio's. :lightbulb:you like Leopold Scopes Oh Lord please dont let that Harley Rider come out of the closet and now confess he actually likes Mcdonalds Quarter Pounders :crackup::witch_brew::crackup:
