-
AWESOME brother - sounds like you got the best Christmas present a Bikenut could end up with!!:clap2::thumbsup: Wanna wish you folks a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR that finds you folks putting a whole bunch of amazing "0"'s behind that "15" miles on the scoot!! Have fun in Florida! Puc

Have you checked that valve/linkage area out closely on the scoot? Possible ya picked up a stone or something that caused some strange braking effects, or even oil on the road.. I have had some weird things happen on bikes brother, stuff that had me my head too - usually though I have been able to come to some conclusion as far as what happened. Had a friend go down beside me on the road one day, one minute all is fine, next second he was down.. Got turned around, went back to help him pick up the pieces. Tried to figure it out and finally discovered a different shade of color on part of the road, walked over to it and it was SLICK like ice.. Smelled the stuff and it smelled like cutting oil from the bed of a lathe or something - really strange too cause you could barely see it on the road.. We came to the conclusion that a chip hauler had left a small trail of fluid from his load on the roadway.. REALLY REALLY WEIRD!! Tossing in the towel is your choice bro - would NEVER look down on anyone for making that choice. Plus you KNOW, just like all the other folks who have gone to a different breed of a steed, or cagin for that matter, that YOU will ALWAYS be a part of us and always be wanted/needed around here.. I am just THRILLED that you made it thru like you did - you out of ol Pucster!! Looking forward to seeing you in 2016 whether you show up in a trike, bike, car or whatever!!

Right back at cha @Daveand Barbie - Merry merry Christmas to you!! Hey @Flyinfool,, looks like you made some more good friends here:big-grin-emoticon:

BEEEAAUUUTIFUL @Condor!! :clap2::dancefool: Looks like you lop eared varmints had an AWESOME time out there!! Looked thru the pics brother and didnt really notice anyone other than yourself that I recognized. Are "Ponch" and "Little Bit" still around? LOVED the pics of your bike of choice back then = Blonde MK1 1st Gen. This was especially neat for me cause that is the exact model that I started out on as my first Venture back in the late 80's - kids and I had a BALL wearing "Beeg" (the bikes name, short for B.G which was short for "Big Girl" which is what my kids named her) out!! Man what a pretty machine you had there my friend - just beautiful!! Still got her? Aint that some majestic country out there, so rugged but SO beautiful - you folks sure picked the right time and place to go touring (IMHO)! Gotta ask this,, any chance you noticed the misspelling of the "US Cavalry" in the story about the Nez Perce Indians in the pictures? I was and :rotfl:cause I had always thought Calvary was in Israel and I was pretty sure the Israelis didnt have Cowboys and Indians in their history :rotf::rotf: Anyway, GREAT post Jack:thumbsup: Thanks! Puc

Prayers Up and Blessings Down for Janet and the Doodle family!! Thank you Brenda for bringing this to our attention!! Puc -
Hey Z, I have not had dealings with the later model (MK 2) Ventures so I looked up a 93 online and indeed, it appears that Yamaha used that valve all the way thru 93.. THANK YOU for doing what your doing!
-
Hi ya Fowl - to VR!!
-
Maybe it was just not adjusted to your "feel" Dan O'.. The way I read that post of Ricks - that particular valve is fully adjustable? You know what, after reading thru that link a couple times, I began to my beaner too wondering if that valve could replace the one on our 1st Gens.. I have never owned an 83/84 whose rear brake I really cared for as I always had the opposite end of the spectrum compared to your experience on Silver = I have yet to have one that I could lock up at will.. People who would ask me about my brakes I always retorted with "what brakes,,, this thing is suppose to have brakes?"

have the results he was hoping for. Eileen giggled and said "just because you bought me all those all those beautiful Harley Davidson clothes for Christmas does not mean that the reflexes you had before you bought your Harley have returned". Then she nailed 3rd gear to show Mr. Bird what he was

The new guy needs carb help
cowpuc replied to Fl Hermit's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
While I am certainly no expert and I do HIGHLY suggest that you check back to this post and see if one of our much more knowledgeable mechanics gets involved with answering your question (I KNOW I will be watching too - I LOVE to learn:big-grin-emoticon:) I am gonna guess somewhere around 125 CFM should be good. I am thinking maybe a little larger if you are planning on keeping her spun up in the R's and looking for some extra on top, maybe a little less if your planning on low R torque. I also know the V-max 1200's "v-boost" is actually a device that turns 2 carbs into 1 (increasing CFM) BUT, they also do so at high r's (above 6500 with a peek horse at 9500 - much higher than the normal Venture - different cams and valving and all that make it necessary). For a stock 1st Gen - my GUESS would be that 125 CFM would do ya. I LOVE your question and LOVE where your headed - have always about doing exactly what your up to but just never shut my bike off long enough to play with it to that extent. By the way, to VR FL and all the best in what sounds like a VERY interesting project!! Please keep us informed about your project and any 's would be greatly appreciated! Puc -
WOW Dodger,, that Dart was beautiful - sorry it was the one that had go my friend BUT I TOTALLY get where your coming from! THANK YOU for sharing the amazing story about you, your Dad and the love you two shared for restoring cars = BEAUTIFUL!! One of the wonderful things about all of it is that no matter what happens in life (like having to make tough choices like you did) the memories of the time spent with your Father can never be removed = what its all about my friend!! You two did nice work, it was an HONOR getting to see the pic of the car and getting to read your story! :clap2::thumbsup: THANK YOU Puc

Had a hard time clickin on the ol "like" button on that one brother = A YEAR?? But in the end I had to cause it sounds like you are on your way to being able to get around without so much pain being involved Now wiggle those sausages and do your exercises ya lop eared varmint - maybe you can trim some of those 365 days back a little:fingers-crossed-emo PS, have no worry about the White Washer,, got er lubed up with brine for ya while you were sleeping at the Veterinarian's office - should be all set when ya try to fire the infamous thing up in November of 16!!
-
GOOD ON YA Z!! :clap2::dancefool::dancefool::thumbsup::thumbsup: That right there is what I am talking about brother!! Glad you got er done and THANK YOU for posting this up!! One never knows when one may encounter such a malady - makes one wonder if your conclusion might oughta should go into the 1st Gen Tech library so if another lop eared VR varmint did encounter such a thing the answer would be easily found:178: @Freebird, @Eck, @Marcarl = what do you think? Either way Z,,, CONGRATS on another JOB WELL DONE!!

Wayy cool and MERRY CHRISTMAS to the Nelson's!! Glad the two of you took the time to have such a wonderful time together Don, THAT is really neat!! Concerning the "drinking of the cool-aid",,, OH HECK NO!! I happen to know for a FACT that Harley Davidson has the BEST OF THE BEST when it comes to accessories - be it clothing or whatever, THEY GOT AWESOME STUFF!! ,, now if you had said you bought her a new Soft Tail Slim to try and lure her away from her steadfast thinking about how much better a Yamaha MOTORCYCLE is than a Harley,, then yea,, I may be one of those lop eareds wondering if you had been sipping the cool-aid.. You did GREAT Boss!:thumbsup: Oh,, one thing though before I forget,,

You da man @Yammer Dan!! Actually I KNEW one of you lop eared varmints had to have been there done that at sometime or another - it was just a matter of time before ya responded!! Thats what I LOVE about this place, collectively there seems to be NOTHING on these scoots that has not been dismantled and rebuilt at some time or another - GOOD LORD I LOVE THIS PLACE!! Hey Dan, bumped into this thread (click here ya lop eared varmint = http://www.venturerider.org/brakes/ ) while searching for an answer for Zzzz. Wondered if our buddy Rick may be onto some of the reason for your accident last spring.. Take a peek and see what ya think.. By the way, EXCELLENT piece of work @Rick Butler :clap2:

8,000 DOLLAR SALES TAX:scared:!! HOLY LETS BALANCE THE NEW YORK CITY BUDGET BY SELLING ONE CAR BATMAN!! If he were my son I would let him put it in my name and just pay the Michigan taxes on it. I may even let him drive it when he came to visit on the weekends if I were home!!
