AZZI!!!!!!!!!! short for The Arizona Zippinator:bikersmilie:,, as in - perfect for zippin around the Arizona country side on one snazzi azzi of an AWESOME Yamaha MK2 Venture!!!! could do another one of my FAVORITE things here Vanster,, we could have another Name That Motorcycle Thread like I did when Yammer Dan forgot to name his poor 2nd Gen and I had to take the bull by the horns (that was soooooo much fun!!!).. Get a bunch of suggestions, then run a Poll and see what wins - may be surprised at what these varmints could come up with. I do really like "Azzi" though,, short - sweet and to the point!! GOOD ON YOU YA LOP EARED VARMINT FOR NOT LETTING THAT NEW SCOOT GO TO LONG WITHOUT A NAME - YOU ARE WELL ON THE WAY TO A VERY GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH ONE AWESOME MACHINE BROTHER!!:dancefool: WOW ZZZZ WOW WOW WOW,, THAT AZZI REALLY TRULY IS ONE SNAZZI SCOOT!! I WOULD RIDE THAT PUPPY TILL THE WHEELS FELL OFF, THEN PUT EM BACK ON AND START ALL OVER AGAIN!!! -
Is the battery fully charged? If it is, go ahead and turn the key off and then back on until the pump refuses to come on when the key is turned on. Leave the key on and tap on the face of the fuel pump with the handle of a screw driver - these pumps have a set of contact points in them that like to wear out over time - see if tapping on it will get it to run momentarily. It almost sounds like you have a fuel pump with bad or dirty points. Another way to check and see if it is the pump is to disconnect the output hose from the fuel pump, take a squirt bottle of gas (I use an empty gear case oil bottle with the little nipple on the end to slide into the fuel line for this kind of stuff) and attach it to the output hose that leads to the carbs. Close the carb drains and squeeze the bottle of gas until I feel it not moving fuel into the carbs. Slide the output line back on the fuel pump so I dont shoot gas all over if the pump starts back up. Try to start the engine and see if it will run the gas out of the bowls.. You can also do the same thing with a syringe full of gas shot thru the drain tubes on the carbs - basically filling the carbs thru the drains. Just thought of this!! Another thing you could try is pressurizing the fuel tank thru the vent hose. Putting air pressure into the tank should move fuel thru the pump and into the carbs. The vent hose runs down the frame spar on the right side of the bike (as you are sitting on the bike) under the right plastic side cover. There should be a small one way valve in the hose about half way down the spar - you will have to remove the hose from this valve in order to blow air into the tank. Remove the line above the valve, make sure the fuel cap is tightly on the tank, put air pressure on the vent hose (even blowing with you lungs should be enough to move the fuel) and watch the drains and see if you can move gas thru it. If the drain shows gas moving - close the drains and fill the bowls and try to start it.. I traveled a long ways by blowing into my tank like this one time (lost a fuel pump out in the desert) and it worked great.. Might give it a try!!

WOW ZZZZZZ WOW WOW WOW VANSTER:178:,, THAT IS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME:guitarist 2:!!!!!!!!!!!! What a gorgeous scoot and a fantabulistically deal to boot!!:clap2::clap2::ice_congrats-vi6886:ice_awesome-vi46644 AMAZING STORY AND THANK YOU:You_Rock_Emoticon:FOR THE PIC!!! Now, about this Deal Of A Lifetime Club.. Been a member of that elite organization for a number of years:dancefool:!! Let me explain, years ago I was playing on the internet and discovered this website called VentureRider.org. For a buck a month (or, put another way,, for 10 Michigan Pop Cans a month - our cans are worth a dime each) they were offering companionship, endless access to the best of the best high end mechanical/electrical/hydraulical advice concerning my scoot, a warm place to hang out when the Fool started messing with his White Washer, AMAZING stories and pictures of others ride experiences and on and on.. At the time, I was flat broke and unable to pay the 1200 pennies to sign up (was in the process of paying off some HUGE medical bills), a person who is a very dear friend of mine now but I had not met them at the time - PAID my initial "dues" for me (you know who you are out there - THANK YOU again!!). Thru the many years of paying my own 1200 pennies per year to keep my membership going I have met with, ridden with, ate dinner with, slept at their houses - in their front yards - had them sleep at our home, been helped by, have had the honor to help them, laughed with, cried with, took pics and videos of, had my pic taken by, ridden their bikes, shared my bikes with other members all across America - all for a dollar a month!! Thinking that makes me an official member of the Deal of a Lifetime Club As far as bike deals themselves,, our current 83 Venture (Tweeks) was not quite as good of a deal as your new scoot (THAT my friend was a STEAL!!) - she was twice that amount and required a fair amount of Tweeking to get her road ready.. By the time we headed out for her maiden voyage across the country a few short years ago I think we had about 700 bucks in her.. At the time, she had under 30k miles on her - getting her above her present 300k has taking more tweeking BUT - I am still thinking I have less in her than my buddy has in the new exhaust system, tuner and LED lighting for his new V-Rod .. Tweeks is our 5th Venture that we have worn out thru the years, although NONE were quite as good of a deal as you are sitting on (THAT IS AWESOME), all of them were a grand or under scoots and all made it out to well over 200k+ miles. I am still amazed at how wonderfully under priced and over looked these scoots really are and have been able to enjoy many many carefree miles with these amazing scoots because of being blessed with memberships in the two clubs (V.D.L.C. and VR) that we are talking about -
Thats why I suggested turning the key on and off to let the pump cycle. The pump is set up to operate just momentarily when the key is turned on - what your scoot is doing is normal. Not sure how hot wiring the pump by running it directly off the battery would affect the entire system as far as getting the bike to actually run. I would suggest going back over my initial response and reading it carefully and following it thru so we have a baseline to start with. Close the drains, turn the key on, leave it on till the pump quits pumping, turn the key back to the off position and then back to on again, the pump will cycle thru again.. Keep doing this until the pump slows down and quits pumping meaning the carbs are full. This should not take long, probably less then 15 pump cycles to fill the carbs (never have actually counted the number of times it takes to fill the carbs). After the carbs fill by doing what I am talking about, attempt to start it normally and see if it will start. Try doing that and then get back with me..

Man I LOVE this place!! Good on ya @TDunc, you da man brother!! If I were in your shoes TR this is trail I would follow!!

Hi Jm and a healthy to VR!! Also, THANK YOU for becoming a Supporting Member my friend - the support in keeping our/your club operating for all our benefit is appreciated!! To your question.. I would locate the drain screws on the bottom of each carb, open the screws and drain the bowls. Then I would turn the key on and off to cycle the fuel pump and watch the carb drain tubes and make sure I am getting fuel up to the carbs and into the bowls - close em one at a time when they spurt fuel to make sure all carbs are filling. After all drains are close, keep turning the key on and off allowing the fuel pump to cycle thru each time - keep doing this until the fuel pump audibly slows down to a stop signifying the carb bowls are full. Try to start it and see what happens - should start with choke and be able to slowly move choke off. By cleaning the jets in the carbs you probably cleaned the float valves too?, you may have stuck floats and they just need some jostling to get em settled in. Any chance the ride back when this all began was a wet one JM? Any chance that your issue could be related to getting the bike itself wet, so we may be dealing with an electrical issue? Didnt notice your tachometer acting funny when it was acting up did you?

Indeed,, back Doug!! 86 Royale sounds like you are WELL on your way to an AWESOME 2016! Like Bluesky mentioned, you can find the path to paying club dues by clicking on Settings in the upper right corner of any screen, then look at the left side of the screen that will appear and scroll down almost to the bottom and you will see "Paid Subscriptions" (being a touring motorcycle site - I think this ought to be renamed The Toll Road ), click on that and its pretty straight forward from there.

Yea,, seems like there is HUGE difference between SS Dollars you get if you wait till 65 and what you would get at 62.. Also Medicare if your gonna need it, seems like that dont kick in till 65 either.. Lots of stuff to think about aint it...

and then this one pretty explains doing the resize in Paint. I know this one is in Windows 7 but the video of locating Paint in Windows 10 shows the same icons used in 7 for resizing so it should be the same..

I caught that too Bum ,,, good thing Tip don't have an account of her own here cause she'd be :buttkick:these lop eared varmints and would them with,, "you guys obviously have not spent much time on the back of Tweeks with Puc at the helm :big-grin-emoticon:" I live in that passing lane when on the scoot, ride a little faster than traffic to keep from gettin run over - normally the passing lane is smoother PLUS - I always like to have an extra lane to give deer a place to run down the road without running into me.. I am a hard core "dont block traffic" person though, if I am hanging around out there and I see one coming behind me I MOVE OVER = ALWAYS!!! Now to really and :stickpoke:this thread, here are some other things I would LOVE to see: 1. Pass a law that requires ALL stop lights to be in "time" with all other lights in the area in all States. Drive the speed limit and never have to stop. Saves gas, saves time AND would save lifes. 2. Pass a Federal Helmet Law that lets people choose for themselves whether they wear one or not in all States (still a hard core personal freedom lover here). 3. Country wide law that requires all Semi Trucks to maintain forward passing movement when passing another vehicle, if they pull out to pass and they are caught blocking traffic by not making forward progress while passing its ticket time - no more blocking traffic, especially with miles and miles of open road in front of them. Some people need to realize that traffic control/patrol is not in their job write up unless they have a badge. 4. Lane splitting allowed country wide for all motorcycles when traffic slows to below 15 miles per hour. I LOVE this about California!! 5. Motorcycles allowed an extra 5 mph above speed limits. An example, On open interstates = Trucks - 75 mph, Cages - 80, Bikes - 85. 6. IRS tax refund on 50% of license fee's on Motorcycles to encourage people to use bikes for commuting and to ride more. More bikes equal safer riding environment for all AND less fuel used country wide! 7. States to have "Virtual Reality" motorcycle testing (onscreen viewing of everyday on road situations - computer records and quantifies users responses to these situations) for licensing.. Didnt head check the intersection and got ran over on screen? Forgot to pull the clutch in when ya came to a stop sign 5 times in a row? Came to a stop in 5th gear and took 2 minutes at a busy intersection figuring out what gear you were suppose to be in? = no license this time, go practice and come back when your road ready.. 8. Same "construction zone" type of fines/fee's/jail time's levied on Auto drivers if found guilty for purposely injuring a biker. Yes, we gotta watch for the cars just like the construction workers do BUT it would be good to encourage cagers to watch for us too. 8. No more Star Motorcycle imports until they produce a new Venture with the 1700cc V-4 V-Max motor!!

of Banana Nut Ice Cream that a person known as Condor he had sent from an ice cream store located in Elk Grove California named Leatherby's. Only a couple of people in the crowd had ever even heard of such a joint or the Banana Nut ice cream they are well known for on the West Coast. The Bird had been flapping his wings and tears were in his eyes as he watched Big Tom shovel the last four cups of Rocky Road into his bottomless canyon of ice cream desire when Mini Muffin took a small spoonful of Banana Nut and placed it in the Birds mouth. The Birds wet tear filled eyes lit up, with his uncuffed hand he grabbed the spoon out of Muffins hand and

Big Tom, whose ice cream spoon looked very familiar to the crowd gathered around him. A ladies voice was heard over the crowd, she was asking people if they had seen the spatula that had mysteriously disappeared from a large bowl of spaghetti. The crowd turned from the lady and glared with suspicious eyes at

cowpuc replied to camos's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Sorry about your scoot Camos BUT VERY glad your ok!! Sure looks totally repairable to me too! I was kinda thinking similar to @Marcarl here only I thought the Calipers appeared to have gotten really really HOT.. Wondering how much you had ridden with the brake caliper sticking.. I know this may sound crazy (you would be surprised how many times I have been told "Puc,, puc puc puc,, thats just crazy" but I have personally seen a sticky caliper causing brake pads to drag, the dragging pads actually got hot enough to cause the brakes to start seizing on the rotor and I happen to notice it all cause my buddies bike that it happened on ended up with a cherry red hot rotor that literally was glowing red before he came to screeching halt (it was his rear brake - front brake and it could easily have had the results you experienced @camos!! I point that all out because the pics do show some strange looking caliper - like it got really hot.. If that is the case I would be checking the rotor and the brake lines too very carefully.. Sort of like damages I would look for in a fire restore.. Just not wanting you to hit the road thinking all is well and discover you have other issues that needed to be dealt with to have it be safe.. All the best in the rebuild my friend!! Puc -
, especially if he did not feed Mr. Freebird some Rocky Road Ice Cream before he returned him to his wife. The two of them snuck over to the Ice Cream table where

@bj66 Bernie I use "Paint" to resize pics, it really easy,, you can find out all about it PLUS some other varmints posted other methods they use in this thread = http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?109624-Just-discovered-something-picture-resizing-made-easy&highlight=paint+pictures Also,, that Freebird guy has really good tutorial section about it all too = found here = http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?92609-How-to-add-a-picture-to-a-post Now,, about those pics?
