  1. Indeed,, that @Flyinfool sure knows how to and .. The "Premium Custard" threat hits hard but the "Worlds Finest Hot Dogs:scratchchin:?????? Now thats a challenge that DEFINITELY gets me going cause we Michiganders,, we be Hot Dog connoisseurs!!!
  2. Silenced to the point that even my image has now been eradicated,,, ohhhhh the suffering that comes when one person has all the power (this is where I would click on the "evil" sound if we were in the new chat room right now:rasberry:).. That new chat room is AWESOME!! Thanks again Bossman for ALL your hard work!!:clap2:
  3. Nope,, thinking Fool has perfected the efficiency on the nozzles of the White Washer to eliminate over spray with it's resulting collateral damage. At this time I am happy to report that the arc of his trajectory for the east coast is spot on with no leakage detected.. Tried to tell you guys to be nice to FlyinFool but some people just wont listen,,, give em books and give em books and what do they do,,,,,,
  4. Back when I was young I spent a fair amount of time racing dirt bikes. Later in those years, O-ring chains became all the rage (probably still are) because they were sealed and supposedly never needed lubing. Problem with them was they robbed a fair amount of power that could be useful if you wanted to have a small competitive edge so I usually stayed with non o-ring chains. Problem with the non-ring chains was they wore quickly if not maintained with good lubrication. Similar to your situation BJ, I found that any form of "wet" lube that I used on my chains actually worked against me because the wetness would pick up dirt from the tracks and turn my chains lubricant into more of a lapping compound than a lubricant. I found a solution that worked really well in the bicycle chain lube world with their high wax "dry" lube. In spray form, the wax is suspended in a fast drying agent that, after it dried, left the dried "wax" in place as a lube. Worked GREAT except it took a fair amount of applications before a heavy wax film developed.. I too tried using spray on white grease BJ, it worked fine except it was grease so it never dried and still collected dirt. Another down fall with the aerasol white grease was that it too had to be applied many times before it built up a good grease base. Problem was once I made the initial application, all added applications were made over the top of contaminated grease.. Thru the years going all the way back into the 60's, I am thinking I tried about every experiment known to man trying to keep from wearing out chain/sprockets on my dirtbikes (including things like dipping chain in a heated mix of 90 wt gear lube/grease mix) but thru the years found nothing worked as well as the bicycle chain spray on "dry lube" when it came to the dry, talcum powder like dust that was found on some of the sandy tracks around here..
  5. Your welcome ya lop eared varmint,, that will make up for all the bad things I said about you for "silencing" me in chat tonight :rotfl::guitarist 2:

Glad I aint sitting out in the desert with a flat tire waiting for my shipment Still DEFINITELY worth a try though (thanks a Patmac:happy34:),, those would have been some AWESOME skins for the money!!
  9. In the spirit of an attempt to and maybe get some input on this discussion from folks who know a lot more about the later model MK2 1st Gens than I do (have never owned or worked on one) I would like to add: I think the frame issue's that @VenturousRandy was addressing was more of an issue with specific model(s), 83's I am thinking.. Certainly worth a look see to make sure the frame isn't kaput but I gotta hunch the issue is CLASS related. I have owned a number of "linked" mono shock dirtbikes thru the years and discovered that the added rear suspention travel due to the dynamics of "linking" can and does translate into a reverse of that (resulting in an increase in the loss of sag) when a shock goes south. I am no math genius but I do know that 1/4 of an inch of sag loss on the shock of a non linked set up can translate into a LOT more sag loss on a "linked" system. Looking at the two set ups we are talking about here (87 vrs 89) the 87 is not a linked system and like the 89 is. The 89 may or may not also require a shock with more travel to accommodate the type of linked system it has - might not be a bad idea to check Yamaha Part Numbers and see if the two shocks are different. While I do totally agree with the mechanic whose logic tells him that a blown shock should not affect sag because it is the spring that controls sag (carries the weight of the bike), IMHO he is missing something. Our shocks are air over coil shocks, meaning that air pressure does play a part in supporting the load carried by the spring. That is why your bike will raise and lower when you add or release air. Also, most modern dirtbikes use a "damping" form dynamics with another gas in their rear shocks, Nitrogen is used for this. I have never torn a Venture rear shock apart but it would not surprise me to find out that our Venture rear shocks are also Nitrogen Gas charged for dampening but this would NOT have to do with the CLASS system that employs under 70 pounds of compressed air (Nitrogen used from dampening is usually charged at a much higher PSI). Alllllll that said KIC,, YES - it is highly possible that the entire problem has to do with your bikes "Class" system and not the shock. It is highly possible that there is something wrong in the circuitry of the Class system that is telling the "release" air solenoid to release air. It could also just be a sticky or malfunctioning release valve but it sounds to me like the valve is not maintaining signal when you go from ACC to On on the switch.. Do you have a manual that shows you how to check the system, including the solenoids?
  10. HEAR, HEAR!!! :clap2::thumbsup: Very well said Bongo!!
  11. for some of my wonderful fluffy stuff and blizzard like conditions!! I also left the White Washer's nozzles pointed easterly so all my good friends along the east coast of the US will get
  12. Never owned a 2nd Gen but, first thing I would do is make sure the fuel petcock is in the off position if your bike has one. Another thing you could do is slip something under your bikes kickstand to keep it in a more upright position if its not being stored on lift. While I am sure its possible for you to have overfilled your tank a little and for a little venting to be taking place, I would personally lean toward a float bowl over flowing and seeping some gas out of an over flow - having the bike more upright may help.
  13. Just thinking out loud, considering weather and motor home traffic patterns,,, I would take 90 to 78, 78 down to the Red Lodge, turn right and head into Yeller Stone on 212 via Beartooth pass in the morning, follow 212 till you come to a "T" and turn left (right turn will take you towards the North Entrance), the left turn goes down thru the center of the park = I would go down the center road), follow that road - watch for "Water Fall" signs as you travel along the Yellow Stone River - worth the walk to see the falls! Keep going till you come to the left turn that goes to East Entrance - DONT TURN (stop for gas though) - keep going straight along west side of the lake, road will "T" off again, turn left, follow down to the South Entrance and into the Teton's, wait to do the Teton loops till morning, ride into Jackson Hole for dinner, park on main street and eat Hot Dogs at outside cafe and harrass all the Harley riders, back up to Teton entrance, right after entrance turn right toward campground - set up tent and go bear, Moose and Elk hunting (camera of course). Do Teton Loops early in morning to avoid huge traffic backups, back into Yeller Stone thru South Gate, come to corner that leads to East Gate (its the road you came in on the day before) dont turn right, keep going up to Old Faithful, see old Faithful, ride around old Faithful "trails" to explore the smelly water area, back track to west side of Lake where you came thru the day before, turn left this time and follow around to the East entrance, out to Cody, Cody's cool - LOTS of good food,, going east out of Cody take "14 A" not "14", follow 14-A up thru Powell, fill up in Lovell and cross the Big Horn Mountains (I wont ruin it for you trying to explain the beauty but will say that it took over 30 years for them to get the pass in leading up into the Big Horns - IT IS AMAZING and very very little traffic), 14A will join with 14 - stay east on 14 and come out to 90 real close to Custers Last Stand National Park - worth the explore too.. 1 pm till 5 pm always seems like thunderstorm time in the mountains, keep an eye on the sky.
  14. Come on in!!

  17. WELCOME TO PARIS AND THANK YOU FOR FLYING WITH US FOLKS!! As the Bird and Eileen were departing the little Cub, Eileen noticed a big building with a funny looking pointy top off in the distance and a vehicle coming toward them with a Hammer and Sickle emblem painted on the door. The Bird was busy searching thru his official FlyinFool Airline's Easy To Learn French Book to try and decifer what the driver of the Hammer and Sickle car was yelling at him when it occurred to Eileen that they were
  18. Works GREAT only I left it for a while, it logged me out automatically and I lost my All Star Status so now I am normal again.. Did get my ability to use the "Sounds" again though and think I found out why that feature was not working - ya gotta double click on the word inside the little box to get it to broadcast REALLY neat set up Bossman,, gonna be a LOT of fun!!
  19. I get four "*"'s between all my words when I type a sentence in the new chat so I ended up with this: cowpuc: Thought****I****would****talk****to****myself****for****a****second..
  20. Ratss,, I missed all the fun!! Did just try the new Chat Room and it was hilarious,, as soon as it loaded our doorbell rang and Tip went to answer it.. No one there.. Then I discovered that our door bell is somehow connected to the new Chat Room.. Pretty cool really!! Hey Don, not to complain or nothing but I was wondering,, how much extra is the chat room software that includes the ability for folks to actually appear at the door when the doorbell rings:big-grin-emoticon: Looks GREAT Boss!! THANK YOU for all your hard work - YOU are appreciated!!
  21. Looking good John!!

  24. I hear that brother.. It is interesting though from a Michigander stand point.. For years our prices here were considerably higher than you folks were paying, seconded only by California prices.. We were always told it was because of special fuel additives required in Michigan.. Last couple years it seems like that has not been the case, wonder if they ran out of additives and now we are buying non-special gas like you Buckeye's have been burning for years..
  25. Nope Don, Houghton Lake is north and center state of us. It is where we had our first Greet - Meet n Eat Meat Hot Dog special last year though - just a little to cold to drift up that way other wise I might have ran up there, filled the bike up and gobbled a Dog or two!! We are still at $1.73 here, how's prices down in the land of Pond Monsters, raffle tickets and free camping? Close,, I remember pumping "200" for .17 a gallon at our home town Sunoco during our gas wars back in the late 60's.. That sweet smelling "260" was still close to 30 cents a gallon,, the price difference had no affect on the Goats, Super Bee's, Chevelles and Stang's appetite's to feed on the stuff though
