:scratchchin::scratchchin:,, I just read on here somewhere that Raggy is down in the south somewhere looking for a bike to take for a ride... Now I am not trying to or nuttin like that but perhaps you should start a new thread asking for any of our members who own a 2nd Gen Midnight and live south of the Mason-Dixon line to check their garage :rotfl:

Of course, after all the stuff I have heard about having issues trying to cross into Canada I think I would want to do a background check on ya before I would let you ride it Hope you folks are having a BLAST down there Oh,, by the way,, better bring back an extra snow shovel with you,, Fool's at it again here,, :snow2::snow2:

AWESOME!! In the spirit of thankfulness and greatfulness to the mighty and all powerful Wizard of VR and ALL the others that participated here and to paraphrase the words of the late/great Colonel John Hannibal Smith,, I LOVE IT WHEN A HACK COMES TOGETHER!! I am now coming to you LIVE on the Toshiba!! Mr. Wizard - I tried to and was able to change that ipv6 thingy, doing so did change the message I was getting - no longer had a "unidentified network" but ended up with something called an non-matching ssdi number or something like that. I went back and switched everything back and got back to my unidentified message.. In the process of hackin away at your suggestion I noticed an icon that said something about upgrading my wireless adapter driver software - no idea if I could find that page ever again . I clicked on that, had the little hour glass thing going on so I knew something was happening, went in and took a shower, came back out and had a "upgrade successful note staring at me!! Noticed right away my wireless icon had changed, tried to connect under my network and BINGO RINGO - now thats what I'm talking about!!:dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool: Still got some hackin to do,, ordered a new battery off ebay and 2gig of ram - this battery is SHOT and this thing only has 500 meg of ram.. Deleated all the games, Google desktop and a bunch of other junk that was slowing her down but still pretty bad.. Probably not putting it in proper puter language but I gotta say,,, makes me wonder who in their right mind would put a package with all this stuff along with an operating system like Vista on a puter with only 500 meg of memory:Bunny2: This has been fun and once again, I REALLY appreciate ALL of your input gang - you are ALL the bestest lop eared varmint friends a feller could have!! Tip noticed I am on here typing,, she says "I CAN NOT BELIEVE YOU GOT THAT THING WORKING ,, how did you do that:scared:".. I was like,,,, :scratchchin:,, how do I splain what happened to someone when I really dont know for sure myself:think:.. I asked her if she remembered looking inside the cockpit of the huge jet liner airplane that we had gotten to see inside of years ago, she said she did.. I asked her if she remembered all the little switches and buttons in there? She said yea.. I told her that making one of these puters fly is probably a lot like flying one of those big aircraft,, you gotta figure out which switch has to be on and which switch has to off and that if ya get it right it will work, if you get it wrong it wont.. She was laughing about that and bragging me to be some kind of a until I reminded her of the big difference in the result of getting those switches out of sequence and crashing a freebie computer and that of crashing a plane though...

WOW!! This is MUCH better!! Still on the old desk top but got enough going on with it now that the Flags on each of your post's try to wave momentarily,, a waving American flag has GOT to mean I am headed in the right direction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have tried several times to do the start from scratch routine on the Laptop to no avail.. Am wondering if it is possible that the wireless adaptor in the Toshiba is to old or something. I know the Toshiba is considerably older than the Asus I was running. Wondering if they are interchangeable,, can I hack open the case on the Asus, hack out its wireless adaptor and duct tape it into the Toshiba? The Toshiba has little doors on the back of it, I will try and see if I can to it's wireless card and see if I can get numbers off it that tell me what breed it is. Seems like I remember there being something said about that when I signed up for our provider,, like it needed to be a "G" card or something.. I also know that the battery is SHOT on the Toshiba and it has to be plugged in to do anything, wondering if that may have something to do with it. I JUST replaced the battery in the Asus about a month ago (RATS) and its to bad it wont fit the Toshiba (RATS). @Eck, thoughts appreciated.. That ASUS appears to be new enough that the manufactures used some form of light to do the same thing that canned smoke use to do. The little sucker released NO smoke but it did release some strange rays of light. Real bright white n reddish in color and a fairly audible "snap". I was disappointed in the lack of smoke BUT very impressed with the light show - almost like seeing a really really fast view of the Northern Lights - if I'd a known she was gonna go I would have video taped it!! @Flyinfool, my service provider had some similar thoughts to yours. He had me push the little button on my router to reset it to its default stuff thinking my Laptop didnt like the password I had chosen for access into the network. Then he gave me all kinds of new numbers to start from scratch with in the Lap Top. Apparently the WPA number on the back of the router is the original number that is normally what is used,, no go - same message. Definitley worth a try though. @Yama Mama , THANK YOU for the well wish sister!! Will keep on hackin till I run out of hacks!! LOL @rbig1 , you NAILED it on the hate to loose pictures brother!!! I have a massive external drive storage device that I use to back up my pictures on.. Bad enough to not be able to roam around on the site or check my email, if I lost all my pics too it would be a REAL disaster cause I am not sure I could find all the back roads and people to go back and retake them all!! @oldgoat , is your last name really Hack?? Guess what,, we may be related!! Any chance you know Dave Hack from Fruitport? Got a REALLY cool old Sporty - thinking its a 61 - BONE STOCK! Great guy and good friend besides being my cousin! @videoarizona , see my reply to Fool,, still wondering if it has something to do with the wireless adapters age.. Also, this was all after a complete recovery off from the factory recovery discs.. Reading what you wrote does make me think of something else though having to do with what I think your saying David.. Maybe somehow get some updated software and drivers for that system if they are available. Will go to the library tomorrow, jump on one of their highspeed machines, do a little searching and see if anything is available. At this point,, I think I can see why I have heard to stay away from Vista.. You guys wanna hear something way cool? The desktop I am working on right now has "Word" on it for word processing.. Haven't seen that in a longgg time.. Oh my gosh,, remember "Word Star" LOL.... Back to the hack (NO offence meant to you OldGoat!!) Thanks again for all the advice ya bunch of lop eared var,, I mean my loving friends!! Puc

I LOVED Yama Mama's recent response to another thread I posted about hackin with a hacksaw!! She mentioned other forms of "hackin", little did I know that life would find me doing one of those other forms of hackin so soon!! Our ASUS Laptop that I have been using for many moon went POOF (literally, something shorted out internally). It was running Windows 7, had a 500 gig hard drive and 1.5 gig of ram. Worked AWESOME for moving pics, streaming the news and all the fun stuff on here but it is shorted out DEAD.. Had a Toshiba that uses Vista given to me that reportedly was also dead BUT, I hacked into its systems setup and was able to do a systems restore using the recovery discs that came with it when it was new.. FINALLY got er fired up yesterday (YEEE HAWWW) only to discover that it refuses to hook up to our internet. It will hook up to our router but it keeps displaying a message that reads "unidentifiable network".. To me it seems like the network is talking one language and the computer is talking another one - make sense? I spent a couple hours on the phone with my service provider yesterday trying to figure out what that is all about. My router is new (provider provided), it worked fine with my other lap top until it shorted out internally, still works fine with our "Roku" that we use for our TV and is working fine with this beater desk top that I pieced together from other hack job parts out of my computer hacksawing department I have in my basement LOL. So,, fellow hackersmen and hackerswomen.. Do any of you have any idea what may cause an old Toshiba Sattellite A135 running Vista and having a wireless card that DOES turn on and does connect to the router but refuse to identify my network? I cant post pictures or nuttin YET on this Desk Top and it is slow like molassis - got my fingers crossed that this goes thru here.. THANK YOU for any suggestions you may have!! Puc PS,, you should see how wierd our site looks on this thing! Gonna go back downstairs and see if I can find some ram sticks I can hack into this thing - HACKING IS GOOD FOR THE SOUL!!!!

Would take a LOT more than chrome for me to give a second head check if Mom Yam decides she is gonna try and pass a belt drive V-Twin off as her next venture into Ventureland!! If thats gonna be the case and Tweeks decided it was time for retirement and I decided to venture back into the V-Twin world it would probably be back to Harley Davidson.. May as well pick up a good ol under powered FLH, points ignition, carbureted chain drive Shovelhead. Do a top to bottom restore, have the crank, rods and pistons balanced by Falicon, high output oil pump and stator, get rid of the ratchet top 4 speed and drop in a Baker 6 speed for a good gear selection when riding two up, toss on a set of Beach Bars, set of boards front and back, genuine dual "speak to me you little tater masher" pipes with fishtails, flip up hinged rear fender and center stand for quick change on the road rear tire swaps, set of Big Bertha bags to carry all our junk and a fender rack for the tent, buddy pogo with grab rail for around home and full saddle - mid height sissy - King/Queen for touring, heavy duty inner primary case and a manual adjust on the primary chain, paint her denim pink and have "My Lady" stenciled on her gorgeous twin capped fat bob tanks.. If I am gonna ride a V-Twin may as well be one I can fix when it breaks and that sounds as good as it looks!!!

Well, that's it. My career in military SAR Is over....
cowpuc replied to Great White's topic in Watering Hole
I would also like to thank you G.W. for your of service in the Military and congratulate you on your retirement - WELL DONE brother! :clap2: All the best in what ever direction you choose as you anticipate your next career move. With spring right around the corner and all kinds of great VR Rally opportunities you could take the pre-spring time to finish that amazing bike project you have going. Then climb on that puppy and chase its front wheel all over North America, meet some of the crazy varmints here on VR and get some touring time to clear the mind.. -
the less powerful V-Twin motors that had been used back on Mars in cheese trimming tractors and later converted for use in their Saucers. While ET's were flying around in V-T powered Saucers they came to Earth and discovered the highly advanced, extremely more powerful and better sounding V-4's and were trying to steal one so they could

Figured with the latest outbreak of Cabin Fever that is working its way across North America, I would take a few minutes and do my part in the spirit of Marital support for all my friends.

Not me brother,, I am as pure as the driven snow:biker:!! Hadn't heard that,, I do know that I recently noticed a 2014 EBR (Eric Buell Racing) RX that a guy was trying to get rid of.. Way cool 1200cc scoot that is suppose to put out 185 horse at the crank STOCK - how on earth they see those kinda numbers out of a V-Twin is beyond me... Anyway,, he was only asking 5k for it,,, maybe what you are saying is part of the reason why:doh:.... Hopefully who ever bought Buell does something with it - be great to have a production motorcycle plant in my backyard like you get to have!! Maybe create a 1700cc V-4 powered first class touring bike seems how Mother Yamaha dont wanna do it

OUTSTANDING MAMA!!:clap2::clap2::dancefool: That stack of hog meat makes my mouth water!! Gotta ask,, where on earth did you find your assistant? I swear that is the Lady who use to cook in the cafeteria at the High School I attended.

I would name it "Bergy" short for Ice Berg cause that's what the poor thing looked like sitting in the corner next to the White Washer the last time I was there to "tune" that infernal ice sickle makin contraption:stickpoke:!!

to VentureRider Gnest - GLAD YOU FOUND US!! Since some of these other lop eared varmints have stole my thunder about our secret forum rules concerning our ongoing quest for 's I can only add one other warning about this place. That being the issue concerning a new member showing up with a 1st Gen Venture to restore = that is like popping a Penyata filled with 50 pounds of candy into a group of 5 year olds:big-grin-emoticon: .. We eagerly await your many questions,,,,,,, and also any 's that you can muster:cop: PS.. @Freebird,,, I tried to copy the image of the flaming "VentureRider" you have placed at the header in the chat room (I LOVE that emblem!!). Wanted to use it in the first sentence above and was unsuccessful.. Wondered if there was anyway that could be made available on the site for such an application?

Another GREAT thread Larry:clap2: In response to your request, here is a short story of how a normal everyday Half Tube became a Cowpuc.. Back in the late 80's I salvaged my first Venture,, an 84 Blonde Royale (whose side covers can be seen on 1st Gen #5 known as "Tweeks" with close to a million miles on em).. Bought it to take my kids cross country touring (was doing a lot of it on Dual Sports and stuff but needed KID time - grabbed an "estate sale special") to get some one on one with em.. Two oldest were already riding, used to camping (deer woods) and loved the outdoors.. Took my time with em around Michigan on the 84,, starting with the two oldest (7 and 8 year old daughters).. They named that great big beautiful blonde girl "Big Girl", which instantly became B G, which soon became BEEG - crazy world raising kids. Next summer I announced that I was looking for a rider to go out west on a motorcycle trip,, 1st born has always been the timid one, a precious little girl just a little timid,, always liked to let her younger sister "test the waters" before she would bite.. Looked at the 2nd born and teasingly said your too little,, still remember the look on her face http://i.imgur.com/BV4YY.gif We packed up, headed west, my 8 year old, always the brave one of the bunch,, little crazy like her dad, daughter of mine and I. As we cuddled up in a tent under the stars on the rim of the Grand Canyon we got chatting about biker life.. One of the things we talked about was weird biker names we had heard mentioned along the path.. She was really intriqued by those colorful names she had heard.. We decided we needed biker names and talked about "finding" them before the trip was over... One of the weird things that always seems to happen to me when I am touring has to do with cows.. I always manage to find and step in cow manurehttp://www.sovietsteeds.com/forums/images/smilies/bs.gif when we camp - still happens to this very day!! My daughter always laughed at me shaking the stuff off my tennis shoes.. Our kids were never allowed to swear, even "questionable" words like poop or crap were not allowed as youngsters (think thats bad - they were even forced to call adult neighbors by Mr. or Mrs. - addressing an adult by a first name was a no-no around our home).. My daughter had a "lisp" back than,, it was on more than one occasion that she pointed and yelled "dont step in the cow pucky daddy",, somehow I could never miss all of it... As a result, she figured I had earned the name of Cowpuc and it stuck One of the problems we had while crossing AZ headed toward Needles while on that trip was keeping a hat on her little head... I wasnt about to force her to wear her helmet in that heat (+115) but she had really really fine hair that absolutely had to have a cap of some kind.. We finally managed to figure out that one of my caps on backwards with a couple rubber bands poked thru it and wrapped under her chin worked!! I named her "Cappie" - that stuck too.. Other kids all wanted "biker" names but each understood the "biker code" = they had to "earn" their names,, 3 days of touring or more... Now Tip and I have an "Awawhoo" (1st born - woke up out in North Dakota with her singing to the Morning Doves), "Cappie" who you have met, "P-Dog" - son LOVED looking for and playing with Prairie Dogs out in South Dakota, "TOTR" (pronounced Totter), last born LOVES the Tunnel Of Trees up in Northern Michigan = Tunnel Of Trees Rider and TIP,, that Tippy earned her name after the kids were grown,, she stayed home many many times and watched over three little kids while the 4th one was out chasing around the country with ol Puc... She has been, still is and will forever be a "Treasure In Person".. Many years ago my oldest daughter had a shirt made for me for my Birthday.. I only wear it for very special occasions cause it means a lot to me .. She has taken it and added the shoulder patches as my youngest and Tippy earned their names.. You will notice the name "K-Puck" on the back,, a result of a young girl not wanting anyone to think of her pappa as poop.. Later in life she offered to change it but,, aint no way,,, aint no how..... PS Larry - THANK YOU for your service to God and Country!!!

I'm not offended by that little hog (spose I might be if I had the the poor little fellers papa tied up in my garage and was trying to pass him off as a motorcycle) but he sure gives me the willies. Thinking of him while eating my Bacon, Lettuce and Mator sandwich is making my lunch taste funny!!
