  1. AWESOME ECKSTER!!! Thank you for the update!! that the rocking and bouncing routine does the job for our friend Sam!! While we are waiting for some kind of news from our California buddy, I wonder if you could do me some learnin with a brief explanation of how the Wing reverse system works.. In talking with Sam, we kind of concluded with the system working of an electric motor that is basically like a car starter.. Do you know if the bike uses the same "starter" to start the bike as it does to move it in reverse? When I first talked to Sam I thought we were talking about a Trike Conversion that came with a reverse electric motor installed on the trike kit rear end.. Being that the reverse is stock Honda, wouldnt there be electrical interlocks in place to keep the reversing action from even being possible if the bike were in gear? Have you heard of what happened to Sam happening to others - seems like bumping the reverse button while in gear would not be that hard of a mistake to make? Is there some kind of an aftermarket update kit that a person can install to keep this from happening?
  2. Wonder if ya rolled over in your sleep, pressed and held the "Enter" button on your puter with your elbow while your login was highlighted... Just thinking of thousands of YammerDan's running around the site causing trouble makes me ,,, might make the Boss but it makes me
  3. Sooooo,, how fast were ya going and how much was the ticket One of these days my smart alec is gonna get me into big trouble
  4. Running in high temps,, could be boiling your clutch fluid JF,, teeny tiny little air bubbles.. Experienced a little of that riding western US temps above 110 degrees.. Maybe try bleeding in some fresh fluid - pretty easy when riding an old scoot that you are just gonna ditch anyway.. You know how to bleed that system? Also, any chance you may have ran the master low enough that it now has a little air in it? A tiny bit of air will cause a lot of grief.. If the master has been low level full and that little rubber boot inside the master was not reset properly so its being pulled down inside the master to keep fluid from sloshing around around its possible for air to get into the system when your banging the bike around off roading it.. You could pull the res cover and gently work the lever in and out - using about and 1/8th of the stroke of the lever - while you watch for tiny air bubbles.. It dont take much air JF - ANY tiny little bubble you get out will make a huge difference.. Sorry to hear about the food poisoning ailment brother!! They got Pepto Bismal down there? Might give it a try.. Hope you get your strength back and the rest of your trip is worthy!! Also,, THANK YOU for the awesome pics and great write up - been a BLAST following your journey!! Puc
  5. Your more than welcome Kat.. Thinking more about this and wondering if you may be actually feeling a tire issue.. Maybe put the scoot up in the air and spin the tires and watch em closely as you do.. If this started at a tire change - may check the "bead line" on your recent tire install and make sure the bead is set in properly. Also double check your front tire for wear too.. Jack mentioned to check you front wheel bearings, good suggestion IMHO. Also, just for kicks - if its a "wobble" you might wanna check your swing arm bushings for wear and also maybe your triple tree bearings for looseness.. FYI,, I bought a brand new tire once that had a similar "feel" to it after install.. Sort of wallowing feel just before I stopped - sorta spooky really.. Come to find out it was all about a flaw in the casing of the new tire... It happens...
  6. Awe,,,,, THAT is soooooo cool Nanci!! Would LOVE to see Sam post a quick message up here and would LOVE to someday shake that musically talented pedal steel playing hand of his someday!! Sam,, if you are reading this, I want you to know it was a pleasure meeting you and I sure hope our best of the best VR member @Eck and you can figure out that gorgeous Wing of yours! Also,, my wife (Tippy) and I LOVE the Weed California area! We have made numerous trips out to the west coast on our beat up old Yamaha Venture named "Tweeks" and Weed is one of our favorite places to visit. We met your good friend Nanci on one of our trips out there at one of our VR Motorcycle Club Rallies at The Dalles in Oregon and can both certainly see why you folks and Nanci are such good friends - that @Luvdaleather (thats what we all know Nanci by) is one very talented lady and also the best of the best of our members here (you probably already figured it out, all of our members are best of the best in my opinion).. Sam, after you get that scoot fired back up and you and your wife start riding it again, you should think about coming out to a Venture Rider Rally or Meet n Greet sometime.. You two would have a BALL and I know these folks would be GLAD to meet you, I KNOW I sure would!! Your ol buddy from Michigan who kept buggin ya with strange phone calls... Puc
  7. Close but not all of em,,, Bill Mack and I sure packed our fair share away too brother :banana::checkeredflag: Just think, couple months and we will be right back at our Hot Dog chompin ways - CAN'T WAIT!!

Those Gyro's were one strange little creature,, Honda quality but definitely strange in design.. Oddly enough, they were pretty fun little riders - just make sure you relocked the frame lever when you got off or over she'd flop Another model that I did several of thru the years was the Honda MB5.. Little 50cc scoot that was pretty popular on the Gran Prix tracks cause with a little massaging they would really scoot.. I had one that I redid the motor on that, after freshening up I could break 70 mph on with me on it and it was stock!! One I never did get my fingers on and always wanted to play with was the Yamaha 50cc Crotch Rocket,, thinking it was called a YSR50 or something like that.. VERY well built mini crotch rocket that China (like a lot of the cool Jap scoots) copy catted.. The Yamaha was a high end piece of work and just gorgeous!! ,,,, another one of Ecks threads,,, thankfully I can blame the Bossman for this one
  9. Totally 100% AWESOME Dixie - JUST BEAUTIFUL!!! :clap2::dancefool::thumbsup: Makes Tip and I wanna toss a leg over Tweeks and hit that PS - give that PRECIOUS little Daughter? Grand Daughter? of yours a GREAT BIG HUG for Tip and I will ya = that princess sure looks like she loves her Grampa!!:big-grin-emoticon:.. What a sweetheart,,,, tell her ol Pucster up in Michigan said to turn around and look at you with that same look on her face and say "Grampa,, did that guy with the funny name just say you were gonna take me out for ??"

Yessiree Bossman,, had a couple of em.. If memory serves me correctly, kind of a different step for Honda cause they were 2 strokers - GOOD BIKES THOUGH!! The only thing I didnt care for about em was that none of them came with lites and you therefore couldnt just hang a plate on em and buzz around on the roads.. FUN trail bikes though.. I bought both of mine with probably the same issue you got yours with - dirty carbs from sitting? The kids had a BALL on em, they pulled pretty dog gone good for a 90 and the wider tires made em pretty stable in the sandy soil on the two tracks behind our old house.. They were electric start (with kicker backup) and it would have been fairly easy stick aftermarket lights on em and make em "street legal" (Michigan titling laws were really lax back then) but they didnt hang around long, like you - I found them to be GREAT SELLERS:thumbsup:!! By the way,, $70 ,, NOT BAD AT ALL YA LOP EARED BANDIT VARMINT!!! I got a lot of my vintage stuff at auction and both of my Cubs came thru dealer auction sales.. Thinking mine were closer to adding another zero onto what you got yours for:missingtooth: but still turned a handsome Also did a few Honda "Gyro's" a number of years ago.. You ever had one of those Boss? They were REALLY strange.. Had dual rear wheels and had an articulating frame.. Had a little lever on them that you could "unlock" the frame so it would pivot in the middle.. I did buy one of the Gyro's once for about the price you got your Cub for because the owner had picked it up from a guy who bought out one of those storage bins and the frame was unlocked - it wouldnt stand up and he thought it was busted .. Honda sure came up with some cool stuff!!
  11. Yep,,, I was ambi-sackual before being ambi-sackual was cool eh.. I gotta admit though, I come about my ambi-sackualism honestly because I always just grab what ever is handy on my way out the door so I dont Tweet in the store eh..

You know your scoots Larry!! She was a Honda CT70 - also known as the famous "Honda Trail 70"... Sold that one to guy from Maine, drove all the way to Michigan to pick it up.. Did a bunch of em back in the restore days.. Also did a good business with the original hard tail Honda Z50 ("Honda Mini Trail") = LOTS OF FUN!! Still have one of the Trail 70's in my basement. It is the rarer bird, an original CT70-H model that has the 4 speed with manual clutch..
  15. VR Hillybilly's Come n listen to my story bout some VR friends,,, riding their scoots where the road never ends,,, then one day they was hungry as could beee,,, so they pointed their bikes to where the hot dogs was freeee:big-grin-emoticon:
  16. SEE!! THAT is a perfect example of just how much smarter than me my Trak Phone really is "eh"!!! It's so smart that it probably would have known that - telling ya,, it's a really smart phone for not being a Smart phone "eh" Now ya did it, ya'll (done got corrected by one of those suthin States varmints before too) went and got me started "eh".. :scared:just figured something out,,,,, I'll be shoehorned,, I'm a multi lingoed Puc,,, eh...
  17. Just got off the phone with Sam in California. The idea of tapping on the reverse button did not work. @Eck, I passed on your information to Sam and he will be contacting you my friend. Hopefully he does so and somehow you are able to help our buddy our there. PLEASE keep us updated here if you find out anything Eckster - YOU are the bestest of the bestest!! By the way, I know Sam's scoot isnt a Venture but as far as I am concerned - this thread is still open for any input and chit/chat.. We all know how the story goes = a couple million heads is better then 1 ,,,,,, and besides,, what could possible be more fun than yakkin bikes on the best bike yakkin website on the internet? (watch some hot dog eatin lop eared varmint say something like - "dah,,, eatin hot dogs while we're yakkin bikes in real life would be better")
  18. We have a 10 dollar Trak Phone that is smarter than I am so I see no point in buying a smart phone that is smarter than a Trak Phone.. Pretty smart eay?

  22. THANK'S Z!! That may come in handy.. I received an email from Nanci late last night that she has been "copy/pasting" this thread over into an email and sending it to Sam's wife - that Nanci (@Luvdaleather) is a real deal biker gal who is doing her derndest to help her friend out,, AWESOME VR biker lady in her own right!! By the way,, in case anyone did not know this - Nanci is the same person who has provided lots of our members here with some AMAZING leather work - she is the owner of "Ace High Leathers" that you see advertised on the site (how's that for an unsolicited Nanci ).. I only bring that up cause I am constantly amazed at the high caliber of members we have on this site.. I dont know how Freebird did it but he built something here that just amazes me.. Been said before and I know I am preaching to the choir BUT our MC Club is like no other - real family if you will!!
  23. Good question @Eck!! Thinking its still pretty early out there in California yet,, I would call Sam and ask about it but I dont want to disturb anyone's beauty over a motorcycle cause I know how I am about having my sleep interrupted over such trivial stuff..... ,, what am saying,,,, when it comes to bikes - I could care less about sleeping On another note,, I noticed that "Sam from Weed" joined up last night (take a peek in the "welcome to VR" forum).. Thinking our friend @Luvdaleather (Nanci) who knows Sam and his wife and introduced him to us lives not far from Weed so I am now really curious whether or not Sam may have signed up on the site.. I did pass along our VR address so maybe its the same Sam.. Think I will meander over to the new member section and leave a note over there.. Eck,, if its not him and I end up calling Sam later to find out what happened, would you mind if I ask him about putting you directly in contact with him? Nanci gave me Sam's phone number and I can verify that he is a GREAT person.. Not to pass the buck or nothing like that, I think you know I love helping folks Eck, I just dont know squat about the Wings - have never even ridden one, much less actually tinkered with one.. Would you mind chatting directly with him Eck? Either way my friend, I really appreciate your efforts in helping him and I KNOW he does too!! 85 years young and he and his wife are still out chasing the front wheel - DEFINITELY my kinda folk!!
