I have a little over 1000 of them (Grand Prizes) left over after distributing them ... I am a man of faith in my fellow lop eared varmints though so when I just reordered for next seasons Grand Prizes I ordered the same amount as I did last year..

  12. This place is wayyyy to quiet,,, just for kicks I went to the very last post in the Watering Hole and thought I would say something here to bring it back to the top:witch_brew:... Now that I noticed what its all about I think I will go order a new battery for Tweeks, sounds like fun dont it? I like to buy her a new battery every year anyway cause I really dont like battery problems.. Gonna go search Ebay,, last one I bought cost me 20 bucks for one I had to go to the Auto Parts store to pick up Acid to fill it,, ended up costing me 26 bucks for a new battery.. Gotta treat that stickered covered ol girl right ya know!!
  13. Hey Audi - :welcome1: to VR and :ice_congrats-vi6886:ice_congrats-vi6886 on the "new" scoots!! Got yourself a couple a DANDIES there my friend - YOU are gonna have a BALL!!! Got an awesome thread going here,, thought I better jump in and share some thoughts before all the points of interest get used up!! First of all - looks like you are headed PERFECTLY in the right direction with all your doing!! If it were mine I would also let all the air out of the front forks - stand her upright and pay special attention to how much travel I had left in the forks. You get below two inches of static height and it is probably time for some progressive springs.. I would, at a minimum, swap in some new fork fluid even if it didnt need new springs.. I would also centerstand the scoot, free roll the rear wheel - jam on the brakes and make sure the caliper and stickin.. Fairly easy to clean the caliper pistons if ya catch before they hang up.. Do the same for the front wheel BUT remember these have a linked system - left caliper on the front is linked to the rear brake.. Bleed in new fluids into clutch and brake systems.. CONGRATS MY FRIEND ON THE NEW SCOOT(S) and again WELCOME to the family!! Puc
  14. Bugs Between The Teeth,

  16. Hey C - THANKS for a really good question!! May as well toss IMHO here too, hope it doesnt really confuse you.. There are two different forms of "plates" that make up the clutch on your scoot - some are "fiber" and some are steel.. Those plates are stacked inside of a "basket" in alternating sequence and are held in engagement by some fairly stout spring pressue.. There is nothing between the plate stack (other then a thin film of oil because its a wet clutch) to encourage the plates to separate when you disengage (pull the clutch lever). If not used for a period of time it is not uncommon for the fiber discs to dry out and become fairly well attached to the steel plate causing the clutch to fail in its disengagement and to remain in an engaged state.. I have seen those plate so severely stuck together that I had to actually take the clutch apart and separate the plates by hand in order to free them up - another common prodecure to do so is to put the bike in gear and rock it back and forth until they free up.. Concerning the vibration or rumble you may be feeling. As the fiber plates dry out - the oil coating and impregnation in the fibers will (because of gravity) move downward in the fibers. It is possible for the fiber plates to end up with an imbalance of oil within them - oil soaked on the bottoms and not on the tops - resulting in a vibration - make sense? I ran a centerless grinder for a while years ago and the grind wheels we used had to be soaked in oil before using - it was extremely important that operators rotated the grind wheels in oil storage to maintain their balance or those suckers would/good actually fly apart from the very type of imbalance I am speaking of.. Does any of that make sense? All that said,, I totally agree with riding the scoot and keeping track of the vibration's your feeling and see if it gets better over time - it should.. If you notice your clutch slipping - especially under a load in higher gears you may want to consider a plate swap. Here is a question you really need to ask yourself.. Think back carefully of when you disengaged the clutch and it didnt disengage.. Do you recall the "feel" in the clutch lever? Did it "feel" normal or did it "feel" like there was nothing there? The reason I ask is there is always a potential of a small amount of air having found its way up into the master.. What color is your clutch fluid? You might want to consider a fluid swap in the system before you do any real long distance rides.. As far as Amsoil goes (watch me hang myself with this one ),, I personally like good ol fashion Dino oils myself.. Running 15/40 Rotella around Michigan and 20/50 Super Tech out in the heat of the desert regions - both in NON ENERGY EFFICIENT -truck oil has served me well thru the years.. The problem with any of the speciality oils, high energy stuff and synthetics is (again - watch me hang myself) they arent usually "wet clutch" friendly from my perspective.. I have NO experience with Amsoil products in wet clutch applications and would be curious to know what type of Amsoil product you have been using.. I would LOVE to google the product and see if others have had similar issues with plates sticking together after sitting in storage over the winter season.. Another? Did you check your oil before starting your scoot? Also, hopefully you remembered to check air pressures in your tires before heading out.... Wow,, did this turn into an essay,, sorry bout that:missingtooth:
  17. Hippy Lookin
  18. Prayers Up for you and your family Rand - hope you folks are doing better!! LOTS of it going around,, our Dentist office had to close down recently - talked to the business Manager there who told me her hubby had a temp of 106 - really nasty stuff!!
  19. Personally I LOVE all this Political stuff and LOVE to with em.. Get em all chasing their tails and with each other!! If they are busy with each other maybe they will not notice Tip, Tweeks and I sawing logs behind a hay bale out in the middle of nowhere and leave us alone
  20. Roger dodger my good Canuckian buddy!! Will keep my eyes and my ears for any and all info pertaining to such information.. Soo,, can you just a little in a bold Toochonian effort to clear some cold weather around here and give us some hints?? Maybe tell us stuff like color, wheel count, whether or not it has a motor (it's not a bicycle is it)? with your permission I would gladly start another Puc Poll to play a little guessing game in the Watering Hole.. Think I got the Poll process figured out and my fingers could use some excersize.. I LOVE hearing about my buddies new scoots.. :big-grin-emoticon::big-grin-emoticon:
  21. Oh wait,,, on the reread it says you DID sign.... CONGRATS on the new scoot brother!! Now where's them 's? Better hurry Toocher ya have 15.65 seconds and I am headed to the Yamaha site to see if I can find your new bike:stickinouttounge:
  22. Did you look at him and say "how come your smiling like that is good news or something".. ,,, hey,,,wait a second,, maybe that is good news,,, maybe the V-Twin thing will be a Canuckian model - eh and the States will get the 1700cc detuned V-4 V-max motored Venture with all the fixin's :dancefool::dancefool::dancefool: So, ya lop eared varmint,, did you order one?
  23. Hows it been starting? How olds the battery and have you noticed it starting hard lately? Could be battery/charging system problems.. If I knew the battery was fully charged, I would probably try a quick jumpering of the starter solenoid just to see if the starter will roll without hesitation - its a quick way to make sure its not the starter.. If it were on one of my 1st Gens I would be taking a close look at the kickstand switch after I made sure some lop eared VR varmint hadnt came along and turned off my kill switch to try and trick me.. Hey Bob,, seems like I remembering reading something about folks having problems with the starter relay on those 2nd Gens.. No idea if they are talking about the actual solenoid that houses the contacts for the amp load of the starter or not.. Seems logical that it would not be so as there as numerous interlocks (like kickstand) involved and I would not be surprised to find out that the "relay" they are speaking of is a relay that services the actual starter solenoid.. Even seems like I read somewhere about someone offering an "upgrade" to that problematic relay.. Regardless,, if you can get to the actual starter solenoid (it will be the one that the large starter cable terminates to) you should be able to hit the input of the solenoid with a jumper wire from the battery and engage the solenoid to make it start (easy way to check the actual solenoid). If that dont work, jumpering across the larger wires should spin the starter and let you know its not the starter and get you home if your stuck somewhere.. Sheeshh,,, did any of that make sense
  24. Hey Alma, I have run many combinations of tires through the years on my 1st Gens. Am currently running Continental on the front and have a Michelin (wore out - needs replacing) on the rear of our 83. Matter of fact, I dont ever recall running "matched" tires thru the years and have never ran into problems associated with mixing brands.. Have NEVER ran "Radials" though and,, kinda wondering if mixing radials with bias might create some issues... On the same token though, I have NO experience with white walls but would think that one brand of white wall may have a different width of white wall than another brand.. Something else to consider.. Now I got a question for you.. Dont the 2nd Gens have 15 inch wheels? If so,, and this may sound crazy, it seems like most of the HD tour scoots (maybe we should ask @Freebird - he would know for sure) do have 15 inch wheels and I know for a fact that white wall tires are still in vogue on the Harley's.. If what I am thinking is true, you just might want to check with a Harley shop and see what they offer.. You may end up with tires that say "Harley Davidson" too
