  1. Yeaaa,, good thread @VentureFar!!,,,, how I know I am getting fatiqued when touring,,, ,,, when Tippy taps me on the shoulder and asks me to wake up:big-grin-emoticon: Seriously though,, thinking out loud here,, I may be somewhat limited to exposure to the fatigue that we are talking about because I/we dont do a lot of night riding. I have never been much of night rider when it comes to touring.. I like to be able see the scenery (and dangers) and not being able to do so kinda takes away from a big part of the purpose for touring on a motorcycle in my case so I dont do a lot of it.. Most of the time we ride sun up till sun down (I always called the hour just before dark "magic hour" when touring because it just seems like the most relaxing part of the day for me,,, maybe that is some form of fatigue thing - I suppose thats possible) and usually start looking for a hidden spot to drop our tent for the night just before dark. On the same token though, I have driven a LOT of miles while caging or truck driving during the night and I do know from experience that night driving DOES have a much higher level of causing fatigue - both mental and physical - in my case.. Another thought of mine in this discussion has to do with traffic.. I also lean more toward being a lazier type of tourer and tend to seek out the laziest paths of travel (a week of direct travel can easily turn into a month of time when avoiding traffic) and thinking about it now that you brought the subject up, fatigue may have something to do with why I do that too.. While I really like driving at speed and competing with traffic (like the 99 or the 5 out in Cali - puts me into race mode sometimes) at times,, I have noticed how tiring that can be.. A number of years ago I was touring California, had been playing in the traffic around LA for to long, got really really tired around noon,, pulled into a Burger King - parked the bike - unrolled my sleeping bag and laid down in the parking lot next to my scoot and slept for a couple hours.. Thanks a lot Neil,,,,, now I gotta go take a nap cause all this thinking about fatigue while touring made me tired

  5. Wayyyyyy cool Leroy!! Any of that Iron Buttin, long distance touring on the VTX 2 up touring? How did passenger do with engine heat in the desert regions if you were two up - problems in that category or are they a "cool" runner?
  6. ,,, thinking you didn't read the full text on that page in your Websters and got taken in by the handsome, debonaire, yet rugged biker look of a glowing picture of yours truly Birdy.. If you go back and check you will notice that the pic is actually a mug shot with the caption "3rd place for longest served VR probationary period".. I heard the 1st and 2nd place holders of that infamous standing broke the camera and thats the only reason my pic is the only pic on that page of your Websters.. ,,, Just an FYI Sky,,,those pretty little stickers, tie wraps, patches of duct tape, smudges of superglue and 4 pounds of brazing rod you see covering Tweeks are not all just for looks ya know:detective:
  7. RocNWing - I LOVE THAT!!:guitarist 2: Tupperware,,,, ,, thats interesting? In that case,, if I had a great big gorgeous Wing like yours I would name her Tuppy (Tippy, Tuppy and Puc - kinda cool) and have a sticker made for her backside that said "long distance ride freshness and quality Guaranteed!!" :cool10::cool10::guitarist 2::guitarist 2:

  10. ,, been needing a new mailbox,,, Tweeks would make an AWESOME one!! Just park her out by the road, put some FINAL stickers that show 2780 (our house number) across the back of her trunk and leave it unlocked for the mailman!! Your new sticker offer inspired me Ragster - ROCK N ROLL Raggy - YOU DA MAN!!!
  11. Hey Raggy,,, does it seem to you like something changes with that statement as age creeps up on us? I was thinking of turning in an addendum to section 12, line 18.5 in our Man Card Manual where that "mans gotta do" clause is found... Something along the line of "after 60 years of age it is acceptable to change "do" to "go" (as in peeee)... Wonder how everyone would vote on that addendum....
  12. Nary a feather ruffled on my end Birdy:big-grin-emoticon:... Brother I hope and pray your wrong about any kind of influence me not wearing a lid (had nothing to do with riding that GORGEOUS Harley - its a flaw in MY character - had nothing to do with the HD) has on ANYBODY else if that is where you were coming from - THAT could be VERY dangerous - I always say, "Ride your ride" and choosing whether to wear a lid or not is part of that simple statement IMHO..
  13. I hear that brother,, I HEAR that!!:95::95: Hey Larry,, does Tweeks sister still have 2nd gear in her? Got that right Bongo!!! One of the things I ALWAYS loved about riding a beater is if something happens and the bike and I had to part company out in the middle of nowhere I could come back on here and laugh about it with the rest of my buddies... Pretty hard to laugh about something like that if your gonna be paying for it like FOREVER:missingtooth:
  14. Never did know about that Bar,,, seems like the older I get the dumber I get or something:think:... :lightbulb:I always thought the motorcycle equation looked something like this: 2 Wheels + motor = motorcycle, 2 + 1 wheels front or back + motor = trike, 2 + 1 to the side = a hack, 4 wheels + motor = car, 6 wheels + motor dump truck, 18 wheels + motor = way to haul all of the above at once.. :scared:maybe time for another Poll in an effort to define exactly what is real motorcycle... rock n roll Goose = ROCK N ROLL!!!:dancefool::clap2: I LOVE them ol Guzzi's!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. OUTSTANDING and CONGRATS AWS!!!!:dancefool::dancefool::clap2::clap2: You get some pics on here and I promise - you'll get the ol WOW ZZZZZZZ WOW WOW WOW but I'm one of those typical lop eared visually stimulated varmint biker types who tend to be kinda stingy with my wow zzzz's Wow,, that took a while,,,, lets see,, 2016 - 1983 = 33,,,, it has taken 33 years for our 1st Gen adVenture touring life style to become a trend .. I suppose the next step is becoming Generic ,,,,,,,, brothers I hope not,,, that word is just way to close to sounding like "geriatric"
  16. with 110 cubes all cammed out pushing 10 degree's of valve overlap spinning on roller rockers and bee hive springs so its 10.5 to 1 high domes can master the scavenge in the two into one header where shes tuned to perfection thru its Screamin Eagle race tuner which will all make even the hardiest Harley hater

Like you said,, definitely a 10 my friend!! Congrats to both of you!! Maybe not most of these varmints first thoughts and probably sounds kinda brash (say right up front - this is coming from the heart of a beat up ol woods rider turned tourer) but I see MANY MANY miles of Montana back road/two track riding, mountain exploring,, pup tenting, cross country touring - maybe even Alaska mapping fun sitting there staring at ol Uncle Puc if she were my bike.. I would have that gorgeous young lady so spoiled she wouldn't know which way to turn!!!! :dancefool::dancefool: Gorgeous scoot my friend!!:thumbsup: PS: THANK YOU FOR SHARING!! Burrrrrother,,, its a good thing you Canucks got American friends like me who are OK and can help keeps things inline around here!! C above.. (look at that Carl,, just two little words:thumbsup:,, working on avoiding be to long winded,, not bad - eh?)
  22. Not trying to or nothing like that but I remember not to long ago that real hardcore bikers like us never even gave a thought about to much heat and all that stuff.. A few years ago it was actually kind of cool to be running around with a wet grease rag wrapped around our burned leg knowing full well that when the owy under the grease rag healed up we were gonna have a really cool alligator skin looking scab to show off. Speaking about trying to figure out the maturing process that each of us seem to be going thru:scared:,, my neighbor just stopped down and asked if I would be willing to lead a motorcycle tent camping expedition up into the UP of Michigan.. Said Tip and I could ride his 2012 Limited even though I didnt buy it from him , his wife could ride her new Tri-Glide and he would ride his new Sporty.. First time they ever showed interest in actually sleeping in a tent - I always thought they thought we were a little "off" for doing so.. Other neighbor looked at me, shook his head and said THIS I GOTTA SEE!! We started making the list of things they would need to carry,,,, got to the part about bug spray needed to keep the hoards of skeeters, black flys and No-see-ems off our backs while setting up the tents and the whole plan went right out the window.... The skeeters would never of even came up back a few years ago...
  23. might as well see if we can get Mick to sing us a tune while we wait....
  24. My guess is that in Canuckian "ok" is the short version of "alright" Bongo.. Hey Carl, I've had a couple of run ins with Tooche' before and I can pretty much assure you he is not alright,,,,, he is like the rest of us normal varmints and is half left.. Speakin of half left,, there's only half of Friday left too!!!!! :think:Maybe Tooche' aint so half left like I thought he was,, most us normal varmints woulda had that new bike named, broken in and pictures shared with us buddies by now:think:.... Good grief I hope that prankster salesman didnt make some more off the wall comment trying to sneak 50 more Canuckian dollars from Tooche',,,,,, if he did I hope there is half of him left - eh:rotf:
