  1. BEAUTEEEEEEEEEEFUL DAVID!!!! JUST GORGEOUS BROTHER!!!:dancefool::clap2::thumbsup: Wont be long now and hopefully we get to pay you back with some pictures of our own here in Michigan!! Thinking that Fool has FINALLY tossed the disconnect on his White Washer!!! Currently its 59 degrees here at the house, got ANOTHER new tire ordered for Tweeks to chew on and cannot WAIT for our first official outing!! I REALLY appreciate ALL your 's brother cause they keep me primed!! By the way - that 2nd Gen is one pretty scoot!! One of these days Tip and I are gonna get a chance to ride one - perhaps THIS will be the year that this happens!!
  2. and CDI, if I remember correctly, stands for Capacitor Discharge Ignition. TCI is a lot more advanced and allows for multiple parameters to be considered for things to work properly. CDI has been around for many years now and is just a basic ignition module getting a signal from a pickup coil getting signal from the flywheel. These TCI's are a lot more advanced with all their inputs and outputs... Ohhhhh how I miss points ignition with their simple little condenser that kept the points from fryin brother!! ALL THE BEST IN YOUR REPAIR SEA PUPPY!!
  3. WOW ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ WOW WOW WOW - JUST GORGEOUS JOHN - CONGRATS TO YOU MY FRIEND!!!!:clap2::dancefool::thumbsup::thumbsup::ice_congrats-vi6886:ice_congrats-vi6886:ice_congrats-vi6886:ice_congrats-vi6886:ice_congrats-vi6886:ice_awesome-vi46644:ice_awesome-vi46644:ice_awesome-vi46644:ice_awesome-vi46644 And WOW ZZZZZZZ WOW WOW WOW on that pretty Kawasaki Voyager too brother!! Just BEAUTIFUL!!! Fact of the matter is, Tip and I have spent a fair amount of time on those Voyagers (bought/restored and resold a number of them) and found them to be AWESOME bikes! Really smooth, have an adjustable counter shaft gear set em that you can adjust to get the "whine" out if needed, very good performance, excellent seat height for shorter inseams and AWESOME fuel economy!! We would probably be riding one today if it weren't for the fact that they just didnt fit me well - to scrunched up (nothing seems to fit my long legs like those old MK1 Ventures ) but THAT is the only reason!! I even tried extending the pegs down (some fab work involved) on one and found out I had lost to much ground clearance BUT - I liked the bike so much that I gave it a good try!! They are amazing scoots with ALL the potential of many many miles of fun!!! Want a real quick pointer that may save you a ton of grief? One of the Voyagers I had came to me from a neighbor who had discovered a major don't do with his. He went to pull it into a trailer and found out the hard way that the bolt that holds the oil filter canister in place is the lowest part of the bike. He went to pull it into a trailer and snagged the bolt on the trailer floor - this broke the internal mounting bracket for the oil pump between the tranny and the forward gear set and, instantly, the canister with the broken internal mounting bracket came out from under the bike with all the oil - WHAT A MESS!! Of course the shops wanted a fortune to repair it.. I ended up with it, went thru it and was delighted to find that Kawi still had all the parts for it:guitarist 2: Just keep this in mind when your out having a blast with your riding instructor and I got a hunch the two of you will have many many trouble free, wonderful miles together on that beauty!!

  9. Look closer,, its a Venturerider.org "dome" sticker stuck to my chrome dome ,,,, does kinda look like a hole in my head though dont it:doh: Guess I better fix that so someone on the outside dont come to check our site out and get the wrong impression of what we're all about!! Tippy was staring at me when I was taking that Av pic and says "what cha doin now?".. After I told her she laughed and said "well,,, at least its not a tatoo!!"... Just had an epiphany (usually I get a headache when I have those kind of things) - how bout we take a collection up to pay for any pond monsters at Don's this year who would like to get their beaks tatoo'd with that same emblem on them - I will donate 5 bucks to that cause!!!

  12. ,,,,, thinking you missed the part in your official sign on sheet with the club Silv.. The part you missed reads - ""due to internet abuse in the form of people over:Im not listening toing and the limited amount of storage we have here on VR the staff is required to limit each club member with an annual allotment of 20000 posts - please note that a counter is supplied with each membership and the counter begins at 20000 and rolls backwards. The President of our club has worked very hard at obtaining this 20000 post limit for which all club members are entitled to as part of their yearly club dues. PLEASE NOTE (especially those who are part of the small group known as the "Three Mouthketeers") - Should you require more than this annual allotment feel free to contact "Cowpuc" and he will be happy to supply you with more storage space at the going rate of 10 cents per word. Cowpuc has also worked hard at obtaining this phenomenal rate and currently has approval to offer this same rate to all International club members too!! He (Cowpuc) has arranged with Paypal to coordinate the charges and fee's associated with this great opportunity and he would be more than happy to supply any club member in good standing with information on how to proceed should the need arise."":big-grin-emoticon:

Almost a guaranteed good turnout: "Come one, come all to the all new Orlin and Sharon's VR Wisconsin VR International - starring Mighty Moe and the Dancing Kits!".. Seriously brother,,, you folks live in some AWESOME country there - THAT IS JUST BEAUTIFUL!! Thanks for sharing!!
  16. and all my local buddies ask me why I LOVE the center stand on old Tweeks so much... In the crazy wide world of motorcycle touring and touring motorcycle tool kits, that center stand has become my favorite tool!!
  17. Hi Dad and to VR!! It is possible that hooking the battery condition wire directly up to the positive post of the battery to make the warning light quit flashing could be your problem. What you did is not uncommon but doing it properly requires putting a resistor between the battery and tci as the voltage from the battery is higher than the tci can sometimes handle.. I say sometimes because I have ran many miles with my battery indicator light hooked up as you are speaking and never had issues with it BUT - others have so I know damage is possible. All that said, I would do some testing and see if you have other things happening here. A couple quick questions: Why did you replace your battery in the first place? Was your bike not charging correctly and your battery was going dead? Did you do any testing of the charging system before you put a new battery in it? Go out and remove the connector from the battery - it will hurt nothing to run your bike with the battery warning light flashing. Check your connections at the battery carefully to make sure everything is connected properly. Fully charge your new battery. Turn your key on and listen for your fuel pump to cycle thru (you will hear it clicking down on the left side of the bike just below the passenger foot peg). Turn the key off and back on again and listen for the fuel pump clicking.. Keep doing this until you hear the fuel pump clicking slowly and come to a halt - this means the float bowls on your carbs are full. Now start the bike and see if it will run as normal. Look carefully at the volt meter on your dash, slowly rev the bike up to 3 grand and back down and see if the volt meter comes up to above 13 volts? Also watch your tachometer while your doing all this is see if it is acting normal - one of the signs of a failing TCI is a strange acting tach because it is electronic.. Report back here what you find as you try these things..
  18. In chat talking about it,, you guys read the small print on the auction? WOW ZZZZ WOW WOW WOW,, TALK ABOUT ADD ON FEES!!
  19. check this out - one of ours has his head on the chopping block CHEAP!! http://auction.repocast.com/details.cfm?ID=2624682
  20. Sorry to read this Goat, having something like that happen is NEVER fun.. I have heard of this malady on several occasions but Randy's and now this one are the only two confirmed incidents (knock on wood) that I know of.. Might wanna take a really close look under there and confirm that it is in fact a broken frame. The reason I say that is that, to my knowledge - Yamaha never made a Venture that did not have air adjust on the rear shock - if its not a Royale with the compressor control panel up on the right side under the bars - it should still have a shrader valve to get air into the rear shock and dampening adjust down on the left side - you might just be dealing with a broken shock if someone happened to have stuck something in there for a shock instead of oem. Randy, is there an area we should be looking at on our MK1's that we would see evidence that she's gonna be a problem (gonna go back and reread your article, if this ? is answered there dont bother doing a bunch of typing here as I will find it:checkeredflag:)?
  21. See your from Iowa C Dub,, you folks ever scoot up and ride the Black Hills of SD? If so and if you rode that gorgeous stretch from Rushmore around to Needles Hwy (Iron Mountain Road/16A) you will have lots of experience similar to Smokey Mountain hair pins.. Just a thought....
  22. is simply PRICELESS!!
  23. I KNOW lots of folks who will and over what I am about to say Trader.. I KNOW I am about to put my neck in a noose and risk being called a shameful Motorcycle Abuser but I gotta tell you.. I can TOTALLY understand where your dealer is coming from.. Tweeks has over 300k miles on her and never had her valves done:doh:.. She is number 5 for me, all of the others made it to well over 200k, a couple over 250K before being sent into retirement and none of them had ever had valve work done to them either:doh: and NONE of them died of valve failure:happy34:.. In my own defense and something to be understood about my experience with the 1st Gen Ventures, the main reason I have ridden Ventures all these years is because of the low initial cost of a very rideable machine (I still say that even though our Yammies ARE the best Touring machine EVER produced - they never had a following that drove up the costs) making it possible for me to raise a family of four kids and still be able to afford such fun.. I was never much into concerns with oil leaks, clean chrome and all that - just basic maintenance and chase the front wheel till it dont spin no more and buy another.. Personally,, if a person wants something to be concerned about when dealing with MK1 1st Gen's, I would say the second gear issue would be a far more interesting thing to wrap the worry gears around as that is almost a garunteed issue.. On the same token, even that can be over come for many many miles simply by going "click" and skipping 2nd gear making even that issue a non issue if a person is so inclined
  24. I LOVE this place!! I LOVE our family!!! Thank you WildBill for your insight!! Something you mentioned: ""No frame rails under engine/transmission You'll need to build a cradle to jack-up an Indian, "I Did"."" really caught my attention.. I have personally experimented with "integral" engine designs in bike building and have also experienced that design on several scoots thru the years and can say that - IMHO - there is nothing like the security of full frame mounting when it comes to large torque/high horsepower machines.. I had no idea that Polaris chose to go that route with their new scoots but did a little digging - see this link https://www.cheapcycleparts.com/oemparts/a/ind/54c964f987a86507241e234a/chassis-frame-asm-all-options - and sure enough, you were right on the money.. Bill, this is the kind of info that is GREAT to be aware of before any of us put our money on the table.. Being knowledgeable upfront about what we are buying is always a huge plus and I thank you for stepping in here and sharing with us!
  25. Sky is right on target!! Not to long ago I was reading on a Slingshot site that @Carbon_One told me about. There was a TON of chatter on there about Polaris Dealerships upcharging things like shipping and prep to over 3 grand in some instances. This modern social media day and age really hurt some of those Dealerships because there were also Dealerships selling at MSRP (or even a little below) with NO extra fee's.. As time went on there almost became a "movement" consisting of new buyers driving a few hundred miles to get their new Slingshots when the dealer down the street from them refused to be realistic.. Pretty cool to see people band together and refuse to be taken advantage of.. Sky brings up a really good point here IMHO!
