PS - how do you spect to win the contest by helping out your competition?
  5. Ok,,, here's the beginning of my entrance into the bling contest... It took some doings cause my memory is failing me and I actually had to walk out and stand on the porch in the garage in my stocking feet (got me in trouble with Tippy over that one ya bunch of lop eared Bling Contest varmints) and look at my purdy scoot.. This is a list of what I could see on the right side of Tweeks, our precious 1983 Yamaha XVZ12 Standard Venture.. 6. WOWZY that is gorgeous Boss!!! VERY CLASSY!! ,,, every time I look at your new scoot more 's pop into my mind... Is that one of those specialty plates from the DMV? It says AMP37,,, was it just luck of the draw or is there a hidden message in there like - "this puppy is so enriched with extra lighting it draws 37 amps of juice" or "at 37 years old I got a new amp for my guitar" or "I was A Military Police when I was 37" or "Almost Made Perfect after 37 tries"....
  7. ,,,,, I hope you know your on the verge of losing your 3 Mouthketeers membership
  8. Sorry to read all this KIC,,, aint no fun when a planned ride is messed up like that ,, I know EXACTLY how ya were feeling brother!! Crazy how one little tiny nail can mess things up!!! Same token though,,, sooooo glad you found out that it was nothing really major and that the good Lord was watching out for you and your wife and nothing really bad happened as a result of having a flat tire while out chasing the wind!
  9. :beer:A BLING CONTEST:cool10:!!!!! LOOKS LIKE WE GOT US A GOOD OL FASHION BLING CONTEST IN THE MAKINS:guitarist 2:!!!!! :think:I GOTTA GET IN ON THIS:scratchchin:..... :lightbulb:BE RIGHT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Yep,,, good ol Uncle Hildo!!:clap2::dancefool: GIVE IT TO EM UNC - SHOW EM HOW ITS DONE!! Biggest difference tween Uncle Hildo and his nephew Puc,,, ven he varm's the rear tyre on his chop with the brakeless spooley front wheel he does it with enough finness that his front end stays on the ground,,, mine woulda climbed the fence pole and went over backwards:Laugh:
  11. ,,,,,,,,, I snapped a picture of that switch for another member a while back and posted it... Might be able to find it with a search here - will check it out... Hey Bob,, most of the times I have had problems with that sending unit it has been a loose connection resulting in the gauge reading nothing (needle reading no temp).. If the device actually fails is it possible for it to fail with the result being a "high" reading? Britt,, dont let ANY of my questioning Bongo here be misleading.. Picture yourself having just walked into an Electronics 101 classroom with yours truly leaned back in a students desk and Professor Bongo standing at the chalkboard covered in dust and at me wondering why he ever took the teaching job .. Oh,, by the way,,,, signing up for the actual classroom is only a buck a month - well worth it,,,,,,,,,,,,, especially if you enjoy giving college professors a hard time:crackup::crackup:
  12. Hey Bongo,,, got another one we both forgot!! Hey Britt - me and that varmint BongoBob would like to you to VentureRider!!!
  13. also may want to check the coolant bypass valve down below the rad and make sure it is in the correct position.. Its a small black valve Teed into the coolant lines,,,,,,,, located above the oil filter housing,... Need a picture?
  14. Got some mighty healthy advice from my good friend Bongo there Britt.. Might add that the early Ventures had a problematic plastic water pump impeller. I have swapped out a couple of them that had gotten so fragmented that they circulated very little coolant.. May just need to change it out. Not a bad job but very important and one that if the bike were mine and I could not verify thru the previous owner that it had been done I would take a peek at it. In the process of doing so I would also swap in the new seals for the impellar shaft.. You also may find when you open the water pump up you have a bunch of goo built up in the water pump cavity. If so, dont be fooled into thinking all is good just by cleaning it up. If she's still got the plastic impellar, swap it out even if it appears ok - those plastic pumps are a disaster waiting for road gremlins to gather at the most inopportune time..

  16. BEAUTIFUL!!!!!:clap2::dancefool::dancefool::thumbsup: and ENDLESS :ice_congrats-vi6886:ice_congrats-vi6886 Few years ago I ran into a group of guys from Germany riding those puppys out at the Sturgis Rally.. Said it was all they could find for rental bikes within a few state area.. Those guys were having the time of their lives playing in the mountains on those puppies and I know for a fact they had wayyyyy more than a few hundred bucks just in rental:biker:!! GREAT FIND RR!!!

  18. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I may not know the difference between a "Mike" and an "Earl" or which direction North is but I sure as beans know the difference between a Cat Tail pod and a root!! Seriously though Boss,, I have heard the same thing - I guess Cat Tail Roots are suppose to be delicious - sort of a celery like taste.. You ever tried em Don?
  19. Hey Boss,, I know we're not suppose to wheel and deal in the Swimming Pool here but just an FYI - I got one of those P.T. boats I will sell ya for a couple hundreds bucks.. Its located over on the east side of Michigan,,, just pay pal me the money and go get it.. Best time for pickup is between 1 and 5am.. Pay no attention to the Bearded guy with the sawed off shotgun if he happens to be around - I emptied all his shotgun shells last time I was over there and the "bang" you might hear is just a primer bang.. Here's a pic of the P.T. - let me know and I will send you an address for pick up!! http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160513/cbd4ac5b9719e159481686644a5a494a.jpg
