  1. JEROME :dancefool::dancefool:,,,, I LOVE JEROME!!! LOOKING GOOD OUT THERE BROTHERS!!
  2. Never owned an RSTD Richard so I dont whether or not they have a tach? Assuming it does not and trying to help: You could be lugging it,, what gear you in and how fast you going when you wick on it and feel it chugging? These V-4's are pretty torquey but not like V-Twin - in good tune they pull real strong right off the bottom and up to red line but - wicking on it in 5th at 10 mph and you will feel some chugging.. By the way,, to VR:group cheers:
  3. Indeed brother,, not a bad job.. Slide a steel rod thru the axle hole and knock one of bearings out - hardest part is catching the edge of the first bearing internally cause of the center bushing. Probably has original bearings in it so it may take a pretty good rap to get em to move. I like to work off an old couch cushion when dealing with a wheel with rotors to prevent any chance of bending one.. Works great.. Also should take a peek at the brake pads as long as your right there.. I have a 5 pound beater, bead breaker, spoons Ron, if you need em your more than welcome to em.. You have a lift? When you gonna do it?
  4. Elvis interrupted our conversation yesterday so now I gotta hi-jack my own thread,,,, what kind of kind of new tire did you end up getting for that front wheel Ron?
  5. Fogged the yard last night - sent all those nippy little blood suckers on vacation,,, swept a spot off on the slab out front right next a power outlet in case you need to have a light so you can see to shave ... Tip and I just did a skeeter head count,,, nairy a beek in the bunch.. All set if your skeerd to stay inside and wanna drag your second home along!!
  6. Just wanted to give my good buddy @StarFan a quick shout and tell him THANK YOU again for the Icelandic Gremlin Bell - WE DA MAN BROTHER!!
  7. OUTSTANDING @mirider!! Looking forward to seeing you and Sue again!! I triple checked with my staff brother and they have promised this time they will have Hot Dogs ready
  8. I wonder if they keep the prices high so the troublemakers from one side of the pond dont go over to the other side of the pond and have a bad influence on the non-troublemakers on the other side:big-grin-emoticon:
  9. yaaa haaa,,, you just gotta keep pushin buttons,,,, you gotta work for it so to speak http://www.dublinstore.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=ds&Product_Code=MAPLE_ELK&Category_Code=Wild_Game

  12. You are welcome my friend.. Condolences on the loss of your Mom brother - life seems so short don't it - remember when we were kids and seemed like days lasted forever,, get a little older and it seems like days last for seconds.. Probably sounds crazy but it seems like that to me..
  13. Ok,, here is what I found: http://www.yamahapartshouse.com/oemparts/a/yam/50042b01f8700209bc78972f/front-fork Looks like I may be wrong.. If you look at the parts diagram - locate part 7,38 (this means 7 and 38 are the same parts - just shows 2 cause you need 2 of them - 1 for each fork) - notice these parts refer to "spring washer"? A spring washer is probably a "wave" washer.. This would go below the fork seal according to the parts diagram for you bike. Part 22,53 is a flat washer and that goes above the seal then part 3,34 is the clip that goes above the flat washer and that holds the seal in. Possibly who ever put the fork together last time got an extra washer under the seal and that is what is forcing the seal back out.. Another possibility is the retaining clip is not getting completely set into the groove in the fork leg.. Looks like all those parts are still available (notice they have prices and the option to "add to cart"). Hope all this helps and I didnt confuse you more my friend.. Puc
  14. Hi Brian, Going from memory here from working on MK1's (MK2's may be different but I highly doubt it), the fork seal itself should have 1 flat washer under it and 1 flat washer above it - then the "clip" that holds the fork seal in goes above the top flat washer.. The only place I can recall there being a "wave" washer would be at the very bottom of the inside tube that the screw threw the bottom of the fork screws into - its the screw you have to remove to get the fork all the way apart. Those wave washers down there serve as dampening orvices - the fork fluid passes thru them, they cause a restriction on the oil which makes for dampening - make sense? We always called that the dampening shim stack and it consists of a wave washer - then a flat washer - then a wave washer.. The shim stack consists of much smaller washers then the washers up on the fork seal.. It is possible that the remaining shim stack for the other fork is still inside of the bottom fork leg if those are the missing parts from one side you are referring to. If you are referring to washers on the fork seal itself - it sounds to me like someone who didnt understand what they were doing put the fork seals in it.. I am going to see if I can find a link to a parts picture for you bike and a possible place to purchase the correct parts from for you.. Be right back..
  15. Here ya go Trbl!! http://www.dublinstore.com/mm5/merchant.mvc FYI - my Father started hauling me up there as a little boy way back in the late 50's to Deer Hunt with him.. That Dublin Store was always a favorite hang out for my Dad and I as we would brow's the place - munching on Jerky,, buying hunting supplies - looking at new Guns and stuff!! Place is out in the middle of the Great Northern Michigan wilderness - middle of nowhere and just and awesome place!! That yearly trek went on all the up to the point when we lost my Dad just over a year ago.. Lots and lots and LOTS of great memories up there!! Sorry for the ramble Trbl,,,,,,, they have the BEST Jerky ever - give it em a shot - they come with full 5 star GOOD references from your ol buddy!!
  16. Here ya go Dad,, just stepped out into the garage and snapped a couple shots for ya.. The TCI is located directly under the battery box - my finger is pointing to the connectors.. Remove the cover over the battery/air box (lift your tank cap cover, remove small screw holding cover on - slide cover forward a little and lift it off). pull the side covers so you can access the clamps holding the airbox on to the carbs, loosen clamps and lift air box off carbs - you can now see clearly what I am pointing at.. I gotta hunch you should be able to slip the connectors out of the TCI.. If it were me and I was replacing it anyway, I would just leave the old TCI in place and remount the new one top side like you have been advised - looks doable from what I can see - like already mentioned, looks like lots of harness there to work with...
  17. Best way I have found GnV is to attach a section of clear gas line to the bleed nipple - drape it so it stays full of fluid when your bleeding, you can put a jar under the draped end to bleed into but make a loop so the fluid between the loop and the bleed nipple get no air in it.. The just keep bleeding until clear fluid is all you get.. Careful when refilling the res not to get tiny air bubbles in the fluid.
  18. Bongo is once again right on the money IMHO... Another thing small thing that can create a ton of grief is to make sure the bleed back hole in the bottom of the master is not plugged off.. When you get the fluid where it should be as Bob suggested, with the cap off CAREFULLY move the lever in and out a little and watch the smaller hole in the bottom of the master and make sure when you release pressure on the lever you see fluid moving from that pinhole back into the res.. By the way,, if that bleed back gets plugged on one of the brake res's it can EASILY cause the brakes to lock up - its that crucial that those bleed back returns are open..
