  1. Its a Yamaha XVZ12 Birdy..
  2. WOW ZZZZZZZZZZZ WOW WOW WOW - JUST GORGEOUS!!!! My very first 1st Gen was EXACTLY like that sweetheart!!! Brother my kids and I had a BALL wearing that old bike out!! Matter of fact,, I just recently switched the original side covers from that scoot over to our new bike!! BEAUTIFUL!! ,,,,,,, that 42 flat head Harley War Bike has it going on too :cool10::cool10::cool10::cool10::big-grin-emoticon::big-grin-emoticon::thumbsup: Now I REALLY miss Olivia!!
  3. But I like assault rifles:95:!! Matter of fact, if it weren't so dog gone expensive to get and maintain one of those Class,, what ever they are, licenses to own and operate fully automatic assault rifles and so blasted expensive to buy the hardware - I would have a garage full of em ,, I'd have Uzi's, AK's, FN's, Thompson's, Colt's, CZ's, Heckler's and even a nice collection of Sig's!! I like em and if I were rich - I would have em all and maybe even change my name to Assault Rifle Puc:big-grin-emoticon: Whoever mentioned the .22-.250 beat me to the bunch as far as varmint artillery.. I had 700 Remington Bow Barrel in a 22 twofiddy years ago that was deadly accurate.. Seems how ya got that covered though BJ - maybe think about a .222.. Had a Savage in that caliber too that I used for Turkey Shoots and shooting dynamite at our gun range years ago and it did a fine job for a less expensive shooting iron. It was not heavy barreled though and did require some cooling off between rounds to maintain accuracy but still a really good shooter for what it was.. What ever you choose - CONGRATS on winning the raffle Bernie - THAT is AWESOME!!
  4. Sorry to hear about your brother Doug - he will definitely be my thoughts and will have my Prayers Up!!
  5. Tuffy,, if memory serves me correct they are no different than any of the metric scoots internally.. The shift shaft passes thru the case - shifter hooks on the left side of the shaft and clamps to splines on the left end of the shaft. The shifting apparatus is on right side of the shaft and hidden under the clutch basket and has the typical fork that grabs the pins located on the end of the shift drum. There will be a small cam follower roller used to hold the drum in position.. If the shaft assemble is actually the problem - repair is fairly straight forward and not that difficult.. Now if someone took out a shift fork and started ramming on the shifter trying to get it to repair itself - different story.. Personally, I would look at/negotiate the price of the scoot as a "parts bike".. Offer 2 or 3 hundred bucks for it.. That old Sunkist Orange ad that says "if it dont say Sunkist on it you dont know what's inside" can apply to buying broken motorcycles too - you really dont know what ya got until you open it up and take a peek!!
  6. I gave up waiting for Mom Yam, snuck in and snatched the only 3rd Gen Prototype they had.... Really really cool scoot - almost like Mom had been reading in our 3rd Gen wish list section,,, got a fixed fairing - Center Stand - no cassette player - zerks on the neck/swingarm - braided hoses and all that high end stuff,,,,, much faster then the 2nd Gens too
  7. You betcha my friend, you are more than welcome!! As far as any apologies for being late to the party brother,,, NONE NEEDED:thumbsup:!! Matter of fact, if it were not for the pouring rain (Tip says I have turned into a wuss) and some health issues (I tend to agree with Tip) we would probably be out chasing the front wheel like you have been doing:thumbsup: - your reasoning is ROCK SOLID for "being late to the party" brother:thumbsup:!! IMHO,, "The Party" here is no different than IRL - once brothers always brothers !!! Here are some more pics of Tweeks and her sister that Tip and I just snapped to bring you even further up to speed!! Her sister is not quite fully ready to head west yet but getting closer every day!! The more we get to know each other the more trust is established (notice how she will now allow me to stand on her new saddle (Tweeks old seat) in perfect stability?)).. Yesterday, after our 2nd MGnEM, I gave her the long reins and she managed to turn a 1 1/2 hour ride home into over 5 hours of PURE delight - she DEFINITELY has Tweeks spirit!! During that ride I was leaned back,, stretched out in usual fashion sucking up the sunshine like a kid eating spagetti when a small board with a nail sticking out of it spooked our new bike.. The choice was hers - flat tire or gravel shoulder.. She chose the gravel shoulder, instantly throttled off the gravel and back onto the paved trail proving her connectivity with Tweeks love for off roading.. Tip gave me a hug and said "GOOD JOB SWEETHEART".. After snuggling back into Tips arms and getting back into our normal ride position, I respectfully commented back to Tip "this new scoot is one amazing critter"!!
  8. Oopss, more to your question,,, take a peek at the mono,, look for oil dampness on the bottom of the shock.. Also might wanna test ride it and see how much clutch whine it has and whether you can live with what ever it produces - some folks can and some folks cant..
  9. ,, is this an even up swap - your 03 Classic for the Venture? If so - GO FOR IT!! If its your Classic PLUS $2999,,,, not so much IMHO...
  10. @VanRiver Hi Riv!! Yep,, after many many wonderful miles of chasing the front wheel, Tweeks finally earned full retirement.. After living a somewhat sheltered life her lovely sister has come to live with us. Tweeks legacy lives on within the very soul of her sister however as her sister needed a heart (carb) transplant in order to live up to her full potential. Unlike Tweeks, her sister had received many upgrades prior to her moving in with us, including amazing things like the 2nd gear upgrade, Barnett clutch upgrade, braided hydraulic lines, grease zerks on her neck and swing arm assembly, reinforced frame and on and on making her the perfect platform to join forces with her sister and create an opportunity for Tweeks to live on:thumbsup:!! The first pics here are how Tweeks sister appeared as when she arrived at her new home and the final pic of how she looks after combining forces with Tweeks... You wondered about those historic side covers that adorned Tweeks sides for all those wonderful miles.. Look closely at the last picture and you will find the answer to that question:thumbsup:.. As you know, those covers came on our first Venture that I purchased in 1987 - an 84 Blonde Royale that my kids named "Beeg" - and have been on our first 5 MK1's (including Tweeks). With only 1 million miles of accumulated miles and due to the endless personal memories attached to those covers, there is NO WAY they, are ready for a museum or even Mom Yam (I do agree with you though - Mom Yam should take our new bike, put it into production as a Gen 3!!) to aquire them - way to many more miles to go!! We have already began the process of fulfilling your well wish (THANK YOU for that my friend!!) and heading those precious covers now on Tweeks sister (MK1 #6 ) toward the 2 million mile mark by putting 2000 break in miles on Tweeks sister since her voyage home from Carbon One's in Detroit just several days ago.. No official new name yet - normal course of events is for the bike to "earn" a name by surviving at least 3 days of hard core chasing the wind.. I got to admit though,, Tweeks sister is WELL on her way to becoming part of the family.
  11. Tweeks sister - our new bike - even got into the action of the day!! Raggy christened her with this awesome POW/MIA sticker that will serve as a reminder for us to never forget the price of the freedom we have to chase the front wheel as a free people!! Tip, Tweeks Sister and I THANK YOU @ragtop69gs!!
  12. WOW what a FANTASTIC day:dancefool::dancefool::dancefool:!! Just pulled in at home here - THANK YOU to all attenders:thumbsup::thumbsup:!! Pictures of the great time we shared coming very soon!!
  13. No idea brother,,, I tried painting the sliding door on a Chevy Van once and ended up with the paint being 3/4 inch thick and it never did harden .. Just wanted to give ya a  on your project - THAT IS GOING TO BE GORGEOUS!!! ,,, now stickers,,, I could help ya with stickers
  14. Good thing that thing is air cooled - seems like all the anti freeze would leak out driving like that!! Hey Dave - looks like you fellers are having a BLAST out there!!! You get out on 1 in California and happen to find yourself in "Stewards Point" (North of Bodega Bay) you will see Skaggs Springs Road "T"ing into "1".. You guys will be doing yourselves a HUGE disservice if you dont jump on Skaggs Springs and chase it for at least 10 miles - that roadway should be a National Park.. Few mile in and turn around and ride it back out you guys will be - promise!! All the best brother!!
  15. When you make the left turn in Wellston off 55 to head toward Dublin you will come to a stop sign.. You will need to go straight thru at that sign or you will eventually end up going in circles and end up back on 55.. Larry should be able to show you what I am talking about cause he was following me when I found that amazing short cut back to 55 when seeing if I could actually still find Dublin after our last MGnEM... ,,, never did find Dublin,,, - should be ok this time though cause I will be using an old Indian trick my Dad taught me about walking in a straight line in the woods.. When leaving for my deer blind in the morning his last words were always "keep the sun on your right shoulder son and you will be headed North"... Remind to tell you about the time I walked sunup till sundown with the sun on my right shoulder
  16. Oh,, and yes,, totally rebuildable by leaving the tubes in the trees,,, at least I know the MK1's are..
  17. Yep,,, at least on the 1200 lb air over hydraulic - I know this for sure.. Screw the frame pads on the front of the stand down to keep the table from rolling around. Pull the drains on the forks and pump the fluid out before benching it. Pull the scoot up into the wheel chock - roll it as far forward as possible so the front tire comes to a stop at the end of the stand and center stand it , pull the removable rear plate from the table - raise the lift until you can put the scoot into a wheelie and secure it with tie downs in a wheelie (you should notice that due to the amount of "trail" - your forks will now be pointing well beyond the front edge of the table). A word of caution = I have been working off my Harbor Freight Lift for a while now and know that mine is rear end biased - meaning that if you load toward the front (put the scoot in backwards) they may flip up when removing weight (such as front end parts).. Just look at the construction of your table and dont load bias beyond the lift frame wheel/lock down pads.. Not all bike lifts are created equal!!
  18. Some of you know that Tip and I recently retired Tweeks (well over 300k miles - WOW was she tired) and, with a very special THANK YOU to your friend and ours - Carbon One, we were blessed with Tweeks Sister = a new 1983 MK1 1st Gen.. I have been slowly but surely getting our new scoot sorted out and dolled up to give her the best chance possible to survive life on the road with Tip and I.. Carbon One had purchased this magnificent machine from a person named "Denden" and apparently it was Denden who had put the bulk of the 76k miles that were on her when we picked her up and had also done most of the prior work on the scoot (including doing the 2nd gear update).. As I have been meandoring my way around this new scoot getting her ready for travels to parts unknown,, checking this and that,,, massaging her back and patting her between the antelope horns she sprouted over nite,, I noticed something that made me ... I noticed this new scoot had been "hardwired" at the stator terminal under the left side cover:thumbsup:.. Carbon One had passed on the new scoots maintenance records that both he and Denden had meticulously kept thru the years,, out of curiosity I grabbed those notes and thumbed for anything addressing "stator update" - could not find anything.. I did notice Denden's old phone number attached to some info about the Progressive rear shock that he had installed in our new scoot,,, figured what da heck - worth a shot:big-grin-emoticon: Denden's wife, a very nice lady I now know as "Vicki", answered the phone.. After heartely admitting that I had indeed located our new scoots prior owner and that I was talking to someone who had spent a fair amount of time on the back of the scoot that Tip would now be enjoying - Vicki and I chatted briefly about my question as to whether or not our new scoot has an updated stator in it (she said Denden would return my call and let me know - he was not available at the time).. Then, or course, our conversation turned to VentureRider.org and folks we knew from our club experience.. She said to say HOWDY to you all, to let you know they were doing fine and enjoying life "Miataing"..
  19. OUTSTANDING!!! Absolutely no problembo brother!!! Matter of fact,,, I will do my best to keep the lil nippers away throughout the summer so if you ever get over this way and need a place to hide from the c,,,, I mean need a place to camp it will always be ready!! :sun1::sun1::sun1::sun1: makes me :cool10::cool10::cool10:
  20. Michigan and a Puc's Meet - Greet and Eat Meat is not that much further Brenda!!
  21. Its all good brother!! Keep your eye on the still waters of the Watering Hole for more great MGnEM's to come - YOU are invited to any or all!!! :scared:,,,, YOUR MORE THAN WELCOME TO STOP AND FEED THE FAMILY BG!!! Elvis will probably be doing his thing till around 2:30 and the Hot Dog feeding frenzy till 3:30... ALL of ol Pucs Meet - Greet n Eat Meats throughout the summer are OPEN to families - keep that in mind as we progress thru the ride season and you see these MGnEM's being posted!! Regardless - wishing you a GREAT time with the family out on the road!! Hope you folks have a BLAST out there!!!
  22. I once inquired about ticket prices if I only wanted to go half way across - figured I could afford 1/2 price.. Been banned from the Ferry ever since:rain2: Used to be the only real hassle I ever had with going around Chicago was finding a quiet place to camp where I didnt have to with the Crips and the Bloods after a long day of being in race mode in the fast lane.. Since Moe The Viroguain Guard Dog and Tweeks got to be really good friends - we have a permanent invite to sleep in his private camp ground any time we want so the ride around Chicago has just become another day of chasing the front wheel
  23. OUTSTANDING @mirider !!!! Be GREAT to see you folks again!! @bluestar99 , how's 11:30 at that gas station on the corner of Fruitvale and Old 31 sound for you? @Carbon_One ,, @ragtop69gs - looks like another beautiful day tomorrow,, come if ya can!! Raggy - looks like the local skeeters really did not like the fogging - been cutting grass and not a nip to be found!! Also just nailed a Chip Munk sniffing around on the slab where you might wanna park your Camper - he had an acorn in his mouth that I think he was looking for an RSV pipe to put it in - took care of that right smartly too so the coast is clear!! We will be pulling out of here around 11 if you wanna come here first.. Havent heard from anybody else about showing up but I do have this overwhelming feeling that droves of lop eared varmints are gonna try to sneak up on us now that they have seen some Elvis clips.. Good on ya if that is the case!! If you happen to get up there in the willy weeds and are having a hard time finding your way around - we should be passing thru Baldwin Mi on M-37 around 12:30.. There is a Shell station on the corner of M-37 and US-10 that I will glance at as we pass by headed North.. Park your bike/car/canoe/moped/bicycle/baby carriage or running shoes out front of the Shell Station facing M-37 and we will stop in so you can follow my excellent navigational abilities up to the land of Hound Dogs and Hot Dogs!!! Looks like it is going to be a BEAUTIFUL day for a ride folks!! Get on your scoot and join us!!!!! ,,,,,, :Venture:,,,,,, ,,,, = @Drews ,,, @billmac = you two are going the wrong way ,,,,,, :bikersmilie:
