    Why?

Why is it that Fool thinks Puc has forgotten about the highly classified high temperature snow the Fool is suppose to be working on.. Once the formula is perfected, there will be many lop eared VR member varmints asking why anyone would do such a thing... :stirthepot::stirthepot:
  5. I KNOW some of you will appreciate this as much as I did/do.. I recently learned that @Old Man Zzzz is another one of us old school types who lived the life of the Chopper rider back in the day... Z disclosed this to me in a recent conversation we had about our scoots and what we have been thru to get us to where ever we happen to be at this time. Z e-mailed me a couple pics of his early day rides and, of course, I asked about sharing them here - to which (thankfully) he agreed!!!!!! Z,,, I am gonna leave it to you to describe what we are looking at here brother (VERY IMPRESSIVE - Pan's I over but Knucks I am in LOVE with).. Ok,, I'll shut up... Tell us how it was and what it's allll about brother!! AND THANK YOU FOR BEING WILLING TO SHARE!!
  6. RATSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS,,,, :lightbulb:toss Becky in the passenger seat, pick up Wiz on the way thru and drive the cage Telling ya brother - these Hot Dogs is worth the ride,,,,,,, and the Hot Dogs we will be eating are worth it too!!
  7. You be nice to that Granny of yours Fool - we got LOTS of Hot Dogs and Hot Dog outings coming up and a sweet little 103 year old grammy is as rare as,, well,, as rare as a sweet little 103 year old grammy.. Tell her I said HOWDY and that I told you the two of you could skip the moving and bring her along for a Hot Dog:thumbsup:
  8. Awe,,, thanks a zillion Mi,, it does take a fair amount of :scorched:to put these on but I am very glad to do it:happy34:.. These weekend Puc's MGnEM's are a little more challenging and I hope those lop eared trouble making varmint,,,,, I mean those hard working wonderful VR members who have to work during the week will heed your advice and take full advantage of the opportunity and come out and have a Hot Dog with all of us!! Like we always say brother = HOT DOGS FOR EVERYONE!! OUTSTANDING BROTHER:thumbsup:!! Looking forward to seeing you again and gobbling a Dog or two,,, or three with ya brother!!! For what's it worth - I double checked with my staff this time and all things are up and running..:thumbsup: ahhhh yes,,, I forgot to mention our famous GRAND PRIZE contest = YOU DA MAN DREWS = THANK YOU!!!:thumbsup:

  10. WOW ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ WOW WOW WOW LARRY :dancefool::thumbsup: Seems like just yesterday that Tweeks, Tip and I were out west and heard about the "Cannonball Race" with pre 29 scoots getting ready to leave NYC and headed for Frisco.. We boogied to find em - I told Tip I wanted to find em and follow them with the I would get a chance to work on one of them - those older scoots had a tendency to break down once in a while ... IT WORKED (see pics) - I actually got to reinstall a push rod on a JD and was able to get the rider going again - WHAT A BLAST:thumbsup: Wish my health and the timing was a little better - I would be on the road following this amazing outing quicker then you could say "Puc is crazy"!! Really really neat @Carbon One - THANKS FOR POSTING THIS!!
  11. Never have been a trailer pulling kinda varmint but I have seen a number of scoots with trailers traveling long distance while out west chasing the wind. A number of really nice ones including both cargo and popup.. It used to be that the little Harbor Freight type trailer with the plastic cargo box on them was really popular = thinking because of cost and light weight.. I did see one once that the owner had a mounted covered generator/cooler and cargo box filled to the brim with stuff. Said it pulled well at around 450 pounds.. Last number of years we started seeing a number of Tear Drop type rigs.. Not sure on weight and all that but - these rigs are sleepable outfits with all the fixin's.. Here is a pic of one we saw getting ready to head up into Northern Michigan during the "Midnight Bridge Ride".. I bumped into @rickardracing at this outing, he was participating in the actual ride (we were just messing around harrassing the riders and looking at scoots) - perhaps Randy got a better look at how this much of a trailer went down the road on the groups ride north.. Had lots of varmints pick on me for loading up my 1st Gens like I do (always been a tenter, do a fair amount of off roading and cant even imagine trying to drag a trailer on Deer trails trying to find the North Rim of the Canyon). Someone mentioned a single wheeled outfit with a hitch designed like a universal joint.. I finally bumped into one of those outfits in Deadwood South Dakota a couple years ago and snapped some shots of it.. Not a bad looking design if you consider that the single wheel more or less follows the bikes track thru the woods..

    Why?

Why do I think if anyone could invent fried snow it would be Fool.
  13. I know the V-Max rear brake master does not link to the front and is still currently available new - thinking like 150 bucks.. Not sure on what you would need to do to make it fly but, by the sounds of your detailed question - welding on a couple tabs and routing a couple hoses if you need to does not sound like it would be a problem.. You could also order up the V-Max front brake system and end up with dual front brakes and a rear brake.. As far as speedo - I know lots of folks are just using their GPS system as a speedo.. My nephew just bought an Escort radar detector for his 30k dollar Beemer Dual Sport bike and, if I recall, even the radar detector will tell you your speed.. As far as new OEM replacements I highly doubt you will find anything and, not sure, but I highly doubt a plug n play new OEM is available - MAY BE WRONG THOUGH - lets wait and see what the guru's say!! Been riding these 83's for years and LOVE them!! Just started on my 6th one.. I have numerous parts and pieces laying around and that I would be willing to part with BUT - they are not brand new - decent usable stuff but CERTAINLY NOT NEW!! CONGRATS ON THE SCOOT AND Buyer!! Enjoy your stay and hope you get that 83 up and going!!!! Puc
  14. Our amazing band from Loueeeezzana has been practicing, my staff has PERFECTED cooking Hot Dogs, the weather is suppose to be nice and guess what - found a PERFECT spot centrally located in lower Michigan willing to share their town on a SATURDAY with a large group of lop eared motorcycle varmints.. I told the Chamber of Commerce that there may even be some Canned Nooks, some Bucks Eyes, Hoosiers or even a Cheesy Head from our club wondering around their town and they said fine, not a problem and stamped my party permit - APPROVED!! So - here ya go: Date: Saturday, July 9th - 2016 Time: 1:30pm Location: 6037 30th Ave, Sears, MI 49679 Costs: FREEEEEEEEE Preferred mode of transportation: Does not matter - just get there! ALL WELCOME - CLUB MEMBERS OR NOT!! FAMILIES WELCOME TOO!! ****** WE LOVE KIDS!!! Children are MORE THAN WELCOME!! Please note that the band does tend to get a little LOUD - you may want to bring some ear plugs (especially for those little ones).. Ok,,, lets see,, what am I missing,,,, oh yea,, EVERYTHING IS PROVIDED! Dogs, Chips, Jerky, Pops, Ice Water, Candy, party beads.. Think of it,, all ya gotta do is jump on your scoot and GET THERE!!!! Oh,, just thought of something else,,, if it does decide to be a rainy day - I have my staff ready for a Sunday outing (will be in a different location).. Just keep an eye here on this thread for an update concerning the matter!!!

  16. :confused24:,,,, I always thought "FlyinFool" was swihillian for "White Washing Maniac That Not Even A Fool Will Mess With"
  17. YAAAAAUUUUUUUUUMMMY!! I learned not to eat so many 1/4 pound hot dogs at my MGnEM's cause I gained 2 pounds in a week ,,,, ,,,, of course that doesnt mean I am gonna cut back - got all winter to shed off any excess before starting again next year
  18. Yup,, what Bill said! You can lay a nut just big enough to slide over the broken stud and hit it with either a mig welder or arc weld it - the heat from either will make the removal easier. Dont over do the weld though - it dont take much and to much may chase the threads out with the broken stud. I have also removed em with Vise Grips.. Nose as big a pair of vice grips onto it as possible and clamp as tight as you can.. If its impossible to get a side ways grip - go in with the nose and use a set of channel locks across the body of the vice grips to turn it.. I like to work it back and forth to go easier on the threads and add a little penetrating oil to the stud as I am working it.. If you can get a dremel tool or a die grinder at the stud - carefully grinding a flat surface onto the stud will help the Vice Grips A LOT!! If its snapped right at the head, pick up an easy out a little smaller than the stud diameter - I personally like spiral easy outs but square ones will work, center punch the broken stud in the center of the stud, take a good sharp small drill bit (I like using brand new 1/8th inch bits for this - very inexpensive at Menards for GOOD ONES) and carefully drill a pilot hole into the stud 3/8th inch deep - dont forget to pull the drill in and out to clean the shavings off the drill bit as your drilling - this will keep you from breaking a bit from the shavings binding it up.. Watch carefully and keep the drill bit lined up as closely as parallel with the broken stud as possible - I know its guess work but if you look at the other stud or if the surface around the broken stud is machined you can just hold perpendicular to that surface - its fairly easy to guess accurately - it does not have to be perfect - you just want to keep from drilling thru the bolt body. Now select a drill bit whose outside diameter is slightly larger than the very end of the easy out. Finish drilling the bolt with that bit and drill only to the depth that you set with the pilot drill. Now take your easy out and start it into the hole - tap on the end of it with a hammer and drive it into the stud, put a wrench on the and see if you can break the stud loose. If not, pull the easy out out, beg borrow or steal an acytelene torch - use a brazing tip (not a cutting tip) with the flame adjusted to a good hot cone - heat the stud internally where you drilled for the easy out - I like to heat to focus the cone of the flame onto the inner edge of the ID of the drilled hole and heat till it just starts to turn red - then retry the easy out. Not that bad of job! Hope this helps! Puc

  20. This is gonna sound nuts but Fool is hitting it here - I just retired Tweeks with well over 300k on her and I never touched the valves in her (and she actually still ran pretty dog gone strong - used/leak some oil but still ran) - she had 30k on her when I got her and I have NO idea if some previous owner ever did have the valves done before I got her.. She was number 5 for me in a long history of short shifting (no 2nd gear) low mileage 1st Gens out to retirement.. My other scoots all made it well past 200k and never did valves on them either.. I know - I am one abusive, mean person for doing so BUT - I been riding em cause - well,, cause I liked to take vacations away from fixing bikes and always figured these ol Yams were the PERFECT scoot to do it on!! All that said,, here is something I find VERY interesting... I have the books on this latest sweetheart 83 I got from Carbon One that belonged to Denden - a past member I believe.. According to his amazing maintenance records, he did the valves on this thing regularly!! It will be interesting to see if Tip n I can chase this one out to 500k
  21. Ohhhh no ya dont,,, not letting you ruin my legend status David
  22. ,,, talk about a waste of time,,, I just noticed I had every slot filled on our "activity stream" AND on the "new forum posts"!! I really am a legend in my own mind
