Hey 40,, here is an online copy of the 1300cc manual that I just found that @yamagrl posted up - its a PDF file. http://www.yamahaventure.nl/pdf/servicemanualxvz13tf.pdf I tried to locate a file like that for our scoots but so far no luck.. Lets see if Yamagrl may be able to help us out here with locating one? By the way,, if your inquiry in the manual has to do with basic engine/tranny - drive system I am thinking the 1300cc should do you - again,, lets see what that guru - Yamagrl thinks!!

2nd gen center stand
cowpuc replied to bikerjohn's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You betcha my friend - ANYTIME!! THANK YOU for the thoughts and prayers about all this health nonsense John = GREATLY APPRECIATED!! John, here an Ebay ad for the Rivco (turns out I was correct,, this time ) - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Centerstand-for-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-Royal-Star-Tour-Deluxe-RSV001-Rivco-/112063622374?hash=item1a17832ce6:g:VdgAAOSwbYZXe0pz&vxp=mtr Thinking I also remember someone mentioning that once you add a stand you can no longer use the "Carbon One" lift adapter on your bike lift if you have one - something else to consider brother.. -
2nd gen center stand
cowpuc replied to bikerjohn's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
As you know brother, I have never owned a 2nd Gen but,, I think I remember a company called "Rivco" or "Revco" making a center stand for your scoot my Texas Hero - no idea if they are still available but it does seem they were fairly pricey = close to 400 bucks if memory serves.. Now I will REALLY go out on a springy limb and say that it also seems like I remember something about @Freebird taking 1st Gen Center Stands and converting them over for use on a 2nd Gen - lets see if the Bossman responds with some thing about that John:think:.. Hopefully I dont end up with double club probation (thanks to @Marcarl my recent escape from club probation didnt last very long) for waking the Boss up if I am wrong.. No idea what the mod consist of to convert one or even if I am on the right track there BUT - if Don responds positively about it and can shed some light on what you would be getting into to find success in such an adventure - I would be MORE THAN HAPPY to see if I could come up with a 1st Gen center stand for you to work with!! Least I could do for one of my Texas Hero's who I love!!! Puc -
My guesstimate on whether or not a 1300cc manual will suffice would be that it would meet 85% of your needs. I tried the link to trunkful.com 40 and it took me to a web development page so I could not see exactly what manual you were referring to so I cannot tell you what kind of quality (whether you are looking at a Genuine Yamaha manual) but I can refer you to this link: https://www.yamahapubs.com/results.php?cat-id=3&year=1983&family=VENTURE&lang=en that shows what you probably are looking for. I just inherited an old, well used, manual for our bikes (83 XVZ12) and still have one that I purchased.. I would be willing to part with the one I purchased a number of years ago (still in great shape) for considerably less than the quoted price of $89 on the Yamaha site. PM me if your interested.. In the mean time, I will also do a little research here and see if I can assist you in finding a copy on the site here for you that you can access because your a member here...

You are more than welcome Riv!! SOOOOOOOOOOOO glad to hear that's all it was!! When I read this thread I was like,, ahhhh ohh,, better check.. At first glance it all looked fine but then I realized the Vanriver/Puc ice cream fund may have been hacked and I was INSTANTLY like :stickpoke::stickpoke: = hack our motorcycle funds,, that's one thing but hack our fund = NOW THATS SERIOUS :big-grin-emoticon:!!! Just checked back at Paypal and yeppers = ICE CREAM FUNDS NOW SHOWING:essen_018::essen_018::essen_018: .... Tip just asked what all the cyber excitement was all about. I inadvertently let the cat out of the bag about our "Ice Cream" fund discussion, after shaking her head and making a comment about "you guys and your marble trading",,, she suddenly got a great big on her face and mumbled something about seeing a Big ol Banana Split in her immediate future

Hey DanL,, I been using "Plast-X" to keep my old windshield alive for years now and it does an amazing job at removing scratches and stuff from it. Wonder how it would work for the application your talking about - thinking it might be worth a try brother. Personally, I am not one of the "cleaners and polishers" of our group - a lot of the memory gear I transfered over to Tweeksis from Tweeks has dirt, dust, rocks and sticks from all over the country and I am pretty fond of it all, almost as fond of it as I am my memory stickers - sicko eay.. BUT - because you and I are such good buddies, I would gladly grab my little bottle of Plast-X, pick a really worn spot on a saddle bag or something and give it a try.. If it works, Plast-X is available at Wally World fairly cheaply. Just give the word DanL if you would like me to give it test.. Puc

This will be an interesting topic I am sure - not unlike a good tires or oil debate:crackup:,, sorry Rob - couldn't help myself! Personally, I have found stopping and putting on rain gear to be more of nuisance than it's worth - I am more of the type to just speed up a little in the rain if I dont find getting wet to be to my liking (I have often been amazed at people stopped under a bridge to stay dry when its 98 degrees out and the cooling rain feels SO GOOD). I usually end up using any form of rain gear that I happen to be carrying for times when added warmth is necessary than for staying dry.. From that perspective, I have found that an x-xtra large cheapy little Walmart full rain suit (the kind that comes in a 4" x 8" x 1" package) with an big pair of jeans and an old sweat shirt to slide over it fits the bill perfectly. Crude but effective. Can also use the big jeans and old sweat shirt for rag clothes to wear when needed bike repair happens - double duty as it were. I do know that Harley Davidson rain gear (as well as most of their clothing) is amazing stuff - little pricey but good stuff. Another thing to consider is some of these modern day Armored and Meshed riding gear outfits you see folks wearing now adays. Most - if not all of those new outfits are amazingly waterproof as well as vented to keep ya cool PLUS the vents are closeable for warmth. Personally, before I invested in high dollar "rain gear" persay, I would harrass someone like @The Tooch (who I am certain I seen wearing something like I am talking about during his recent cross country trip - which I happen to KNOW included some real downpours) and see if he or his band of like minded lop eared cross country riding varmint friends would be willing to shed some light on the subject. You'll like Tooch - he's a bit of a :big-grin-emoticon:but still a likeable feller and a good friend..

cowpuc replied to Yammer Dan's topic in Watering Hole
I feel your pain brother and know EXACTLY where your coming from!! These computers and all the scamming virus injectors can sure be frustrating - a love/hate relationship if there ever was one!! Wasn't long ago that I was going thru very similar waters.. Is there any chance you happen to have the recovery disc(s) that your computer came with? What brand/make/model/serial number of machine is it? I have a couple recovery disc sets for different machines laying around here that I would be happy to send you if it would help. Bottom line DanL,, dont let no wacko Computer wrecker with a mind filled with viruses and sicko pranks get in the way of enjoying life around this joint - let us help you put a cyber thumpin on their heads and show em it aint just our V-4's that will bury em!! -
:crackup: ya know,, for a quite - shy - gentle - Hot Dog lovin - always smiling varmint - that Raggy sure has his moments :rotf::guitarist 2: Reminds me of a time when my girls were no taller than field corn on the forth of July.. We were all laying around the house watching "Little House On The Prairie" = their favorite show.. There was a real naughty girl named "Nellie Olsen" in the show who was constantly being mean to Laura and Mary Engles.. One day karma struck and Nellie got pay back from a school mate - Laura and Mary saw it happen and as Mary watched it all unfold she said "I could never do something that naughty no matter how mean Nellie is"... I will NEVER forget hearing my second born say the retort words that Laura spoke at the exact same time that Laura stated them = "I could" ,,,, :rotf:,,
