WOWZY WOW WOW WOW BRO!! 6k miles - sucker aint even broke in yet!! Dont know nutting about the Wing 1800 - no idea if they have a 6 digit odometer? If not, I would be going over that puppy with a fine tooth comb and asking LOTS of questions cause - WOW that is LOW mileage!! From my perspective (which I KNOW matches yours) = who on earth would own a GORGEOUS machine like that and then punish it by not riding it - SAD!! Anyway,, maybe we need to get someone like @Eck (aint heard from Eckster in a while - hope he is ok out there) or another Wing guru and find out the differences between years.. Something in my gut says they didnt change em much over the years.. I know Honda had some frame issues in the first year model but beyond that - all I have heard is good about em.. IMHO - 17? NOT BAD AT ALL if it really is a 6k scoot!! 30k and up for a new one is common - now that I think about it - aren't those sweethearts closer to 40k new? I can see why your BIG TIME!!!! Is it a 1 owner scoot? Is it near you so you can go look at it? If not, get one of our trusted members who live near it to go take a peek and give it a once over. Tell you one thing, from all I have seen out Chasing The Front Wheel across America = those 1800 Wings are AMAZING scoots bro - and thats a fact!

Homer,, CONGRATS on the new scoot brother!!!! Hope it serves you for many many miles of smiles!! Like Riv, I would LOVE to see some pics.. Gotta ask,, is it an RSTD or a RSV? Either way,, they are both GORGEOUS scoots.. Sounds like you spent some time on that 1st Gen by the miles you had on her = GOOD FOR YOU!! I am way more familiar with the MK1's, a little familiar with the MK2's and have only ridden 1 of the newer machines so not much good on the advice end of things for you. Will say though, you may get a little more response to your question if it were posted in the Water Hole.. Seems like lots more yappin happenin over there.. Notice in your profile your a retired LEO = THANK YOU for your service my friend. Did you know that the Boss (Freebird) now has obtained an Honoring Badge for all our First Responders on VR? If you would like to post the badge you have earned you should let Don know.. Also,, I am going to send you a "Friend Request" cause I love being friends with those who like helping people At any rate = CONGRATS again on the new scoot = BE SAFE AND HAVE FUN OUT THERE!! Puc

Glad to hear you folks got out and TOTALLY enjoyed the ride Dave!! Just thought of something here,, wasnt very long ago and someone on Craigs was selling an IRS system - no idea if it was Motor Trike Dan.. I was amazed at how much happening there was going on there.. Wonder if any of us have chased one out to high mileage,,,,, say,,, over 150k and just how durable all those moving points are.. Also,, how user friendly to the "grease monkey" are they = lots of zerks? Might be worth discussing from that perspective.....

Got great advice going thus far IMHO.. First thing I would ask myself is whether or not I am 100% positive the fuel gauge/sending unit is functioning properly and I am not just running out of fuel. Next I would activate the fuel pump on and off with the kill switch and listen to the fuel pump to see if its pumping consistently. Then I would double check the flow valve on the tank vent and make sure it is wide open, while I got it off the hose I would blow hard on the vent hose into the tank and see if the stumble clears up = could mean weak pump if it does. Then I would replace the fuel filter down on the pump which should be replaced regularly anyway = not out anything if it doesnt help. Next I would pull the seat, open the tank up by removing the sending unit - take my pen light and look in the tank and see whats in there - good time to take a mirror or your finger tip and check on the roof of the tank for rust stalagtites.. Remove the remaining fuel and do the pet cock thing... The pumps on the MK1's seem to be more durable than the newer stuff - no idea if that is factual but it sure seems to me that is so from all the fuel pump issues I have read about on here.. 6 MK1's and only one pump failure to date here and that was a points issue = still carry a spare pump though cause me and Murph never got along well.. Ok,, I'll shut up

Only till I walk out the door and climb on my scoot Leo .. Getting up there in my motorcycle traveling years has found me = "see those rain clouds sweetheart? we better go the other way!!" = "but sweetheart, isnt that gonna add 1200 miles on our trip" = "I would rather ride an extra 1200 miles than risk getting wet"

Sounds like a RIOT Leo!! Wishing you all the very best but,, wait a minute here,,,, isnt that the area where the Hurricane is happening???

Anyone ever seen a Corbin seat n bags like this before? Pretty cool IMHO..

Me too Bongo!! Those things always had that longgggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg distance look to em.. Just put gas in and go.. I know EXACTLY what your saying brother!! I think that 800 Coaster was wrapped around the Honda Shadow 750 drive train.. Quiet and durable like rock.. Probably AMAZING MPG too.. Only problem I could see was the 2 up thing,, power and price wise = these ol 1st Gen Yammies are hard to beat.. Talking scoots here,, any of you varmints had any run ins with the VTX1800? The one in the pic can be had CHEAP.. 11k miles - looks to be a clean scoot from the pics.. I rode one many years ago when they first came out (buddy owned the Honda shop - called me when they first came in and says "Barney - you GOTTA come ride this thing").. Total recall from that period brings back memories of a FREIGHT TRAIN on two wheels.. Betcha the rear tire on such an animal wouldnt last 3k:big-grin-emoticon:.. Maybe a good prospect for going darkside:missingtooth: -
Not sure where that will land Tip n I with this recent "tuner" on the ticker ordeal Bongo but BROTHER - THAT SOUNDS LIKE FUN!!! ,,, wonder if this new scoot has a homing device built in it.. It didnt like leaving Larry and Joyces a few months ago,, got all lost and all that... Maybe going the other way will be easy peasy.. Sort of like riding horses,, going away from home is a chore but once you point em toward their ol stomping grounds = the race is on!! Will definitely keep it in mind brother!! PS - if we do,, PLEASE bring along some electrical gizmo's to help me figure out how Raggy got an extra 50 Horse out of his scoot.. I REALLY want to do that!! Your Michigander friend Puc

Got that right Dog,, clocked over a million miles on em,, short shifting my way (#6, our latest pride n joy is our first one with the second gear repaired) to shear bliss and LOVING that beloved sound all the way!! Could never get over how CHEAP you could find em on their way to scrap cause no second gear... One man's scrap is another man's glory I guess -

May very well be Cammy,, I just finished off "Tweeks" for my 5th MK1 and am now started on number 6.. All MK1's and all did it.. Take a quick listen on this video.. Go to :38 and run thru :46 and you can clearly hear the whine I am referring to.. Same all the way thru the gears.. "Crud", my 89 Vmax did it too only he had Super Trapp pipes on him (loud) so the whine was not so easily hearable.. He was also a "1200" where your MK2's are/were 1300's.. Maybe some changes with the 1300 clutch/engine gears.. Dont know - never did have a 1300 I ran enough to give an opinion on that one.. -

Ya know Mike,, they do kinda have a scooter look to em:moped:.. Now that you mention that,, remember that 800cc Honda with the wrap around rear end that opened up to be trunk like.. Racking my brain,, maybe called a Pacific Coaster or something?? That kind of had that look too now that you mention it.. I do like the way this Corbin set up on the VTX blends in though,, like its in the process of transforming to something exotic right before your eyes -

I never did own a 1st Gen that didnt whine thru the gears up to about 3 grand.. Straight cut gears on the clutch drive maybe.. Sort of always reminded me of a gear driven supercharger -

Yeppers,, thats the outfit Cammy!! That link shows the seat though - bags must be from another company? Pretty fancy stuff indeed!! You notice the fairing on that Roadie? Looks kinda like a Voyager fairing in its style.. Thats not Yamaha OEM is it? -
I have done a fair amount of cross country touring with both Batwing, regular windshield, naked (no shield,, not a lot of naked body on the scoot - a little but very little) and fixed.. Personally I LOVE my fixed fairing 1st Gens - very stable in high winds like out in Wyoming with 2 up, even those nasty cross winds.. I would LOVE to see a Batwinged 1st Gen though.. Someone on here has got to have done that? As far as that Kawi dashboard look Dee - right there with ya brother = IMHO,, that is GORGEOUS!! Matter of fact, there is another thread here where Big Lenny was commenting about the Voyager.. Think I made comment in there about how much I LOVE the looks of that dash,, definitely a nice setup for old school crazies who like to watch dials and gizmos.. It's funny cause redid an 85 Honda Wing SE years ago.. I nick named the thing "the shuttle" cause it had more electronic gadgets on it than the space shuttle and more wiring then such.. Wayyy to much electronic stuff happening for my tastes.. Dials and guages for this ol grease covered gear head,, love my analog dials and gauges... PS Deej,, LOVE the looks of that Victory dash too:thumbsup:

What kind of cash you think that guy laid out for that set up Raggy? Knowing Corbin - couldnt have been cheap.. Without doing any kind of digging I am gonna guess 3 grand for the seat and bag set up.. Sort of different,, kind of makes me think about some of the HD's I have seen around with the gap filled in between the bags and fender.. I like em but still not sure how much.... Definitely more space for stickers!! Always need more space for those puppies!! -
You lop eared wiley tight lipped bandit varmint!!! Next year during a Hot Dog feast I guess I will just have to dismantle your scoot while your not looking and see if I can figure it out for my own self...

Hopefully that great big nasty storm hangs a right and launches its way right back out into the Atlantic!!!! Prayers Up for all down there!! ,, sorry to hear this about your Mom Bob!! Hoping and praying she is ok and any medical attention she is getting works out!! That is the kind of collateral damage to this stuff that is NEVER fun - Prayers Up brother!!
