Ugly with a Voyager kit and a set of wheelie bars Gotta hunch that Voyager kit wouldn't slow down the elevator at all Dan... ,,,,,, maybe mount it rearward some so the outriggers also serve as wheelie bars :guitarist 2::guitarist 2::guitarist 2:

TOTALLY AWESOME VanRiver =:thumbsup:.... Gotta say bro,, I LOVE the one with the working pistons = like you,, brings out the gearheadeyetist just RUMBLE inside!! WAYYY COOL... ,,,, wait a second here,,, just watched it again and noticed the Christmas marketing scheme,,,, not so sure about that idea - specially after raising 4 kids.. I had my hands full finding the time to put together tricycles, swingsets, Pocohantis tents, hamster cages, doll houses, H.O. race car sets and on and on.. Not so sure that I like the looks of the labor entensiveness of what I see here... And dont be pulling the old "but Puc,, your SUPPOSE to build it WITH them routine on me either brother ... Back when my son was 4 I thought it would be "fun" to get him started into model cars = bought him the coolest 65 Vette model ya ever did see.. 15 tubes of model cement, 15 bottles of paint and paint remover for the cupboards and 2 months later we ended up with something that looked more like a cross between a Motorhome with a Dinasour glued to the top of it and something out of Road Warrior than we did with a 65 Corvette.. Never forget it Riv,,, kid looks at me,,, points at the box and says "Daddd,,, how come THAT dont look like THAT :confused24:"... Solved the problem,, next year I bought em a great big box of bottle rockets (for stocking stuffers) and a REALLY cool Rocket set up - now THAT was hit!!! 2 minutes and we were set up in the field launching rockets .. Following year was a 71 Honda CT70 (still in the basement - WOW the memories attached to that lil scoot) and NO turning back from that... I dont know Riv,, thinking if this setup were available back then,, ,,, probably still be putting my kids 4th Christmas gift together

If she dont ya pronounce that MAL-AH-DEE as in Malady when ya introduce er P.S. = hope ya do a poll ya lop eared varmint,, I LOVE polls,,,, besides - tis the polling season ya know

After waving at all the tourist on the way thru, camping at and waking up behind the Shell Station - hop on the scoot - stay on the main road south outa Pigeon Forge.. Next really cool town is Gatlinburg,,, keeep going right into Smokey Mountain National Park.. Hook a right and ride the loop around Cades Cove and all that in "The Park".. Back out to main road = hook a right.. Follow it for a ways till ya exit "The Park".. Hook a left and your on your way up thru some of the most awesome riding ever = area known as "The Tail of the Dragon", AWESOME riding but dont speed = lots of !! Stop at Deals Gap Store,, spend the day staring at the junk hanging from the tree and eating road grub from the little store,, buy a sticker for your scoot,, harrassing the bikers:Cartoon_397: for an afternoon is fun too.. ,,, ol Smokey is FREE entrance = just saved ya enough that now ya can go and SPLURGE at one of those AWESOME eating joints down yonder:thumbsup2:... LOTS of really good rib joints down there but I always like to eat like the southna's while in there midst and usually end up with a big ol plate of Fried Chicken with mashed taters and gravy .... ,, just thought of something,,, maybe you aint the riding type and just wanted to hang out elsewhere than that Dolly World nonsense they got down there,,, ,,, ,,, lets see here.... What would I do if I werent a biker or forgot to bring Tweeks along ,,,, GOT IT,,, north of Pigeon Forge is another town called "Seveirville" or something like that.. They got the coolest biker leather shop there with all kinds of goodies,, also a Yamaha Shop along the highway with TONS of really neat scoots to over for a couple days.. Best I can do brother, HAVE fun!!!! Puc PS = if you are going to different Pigeon Forge = sorry,,, no idea what to do.. Maybe take some 's for us and come back and report about your adventure (suppose to do that anyway ya know:missingtooth:)... Here's a shot of the Shell Station camping area in case ya need it...

Had it happen on an old Shovelhead once, had to disconnect the battery to disengage the starter.. Turned out to be a failed solenoid.. Maybe you have a relay or solenoid that stuck.. Be thankful you weren't cruising down the road and had that happen if thats what it is - can sure mess up a flywheel or starter if that happens..
-
Probably was bro,, I carry a bundle of zippies with me and only a 1/4 pound of nuts n bolts.. Always figured I saved 7 3/4 pounds of xtra weight by doing so.. Every ounce helps when making sure I can still outrun those 2nd Gens ya know (given away trade secrets here )..

Get that one Gary,,, had a vacuum pressure regulator on an injected 302 Ford loose a diaphram and fill a jug with raw gas.. Motor was locked up and it was on its way to the junk yard when I grabbed it.. Pulled the plugs just for kicks - bumped the remote start and SWOSH = about nocked me over.. THANKFULLY I had draped the plug wires over the center head so no INSTANT burning Pucster but, I tell you what,, the thought crossed my mind of what that incident could have turned into if I wouldnt have -
Carb Washer Shimming
cowpuc replied to VerntureVet's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Might add for anyone else reading this thread,,, dont forget to check for pinholes, check for ease of movement on the slides, check for that sneaky little o-ring under the diaphram cover and DOUBLE check for diaphram alignment in the carb body before you button er up!! The quality of work you do today may result in a worthy sync job tomorrow -

Yea,, go back to :35 and watch carefully and you can tell he either had a blow out or he hit something in the road.. I watched it several times and it doesnt appear to be a road flaw that makes him jar - also nothing standing on the side of road (like a deer) waiting to cream him.. The "wobble" started right after that little bounce.. Have experienced blow outs like that (if thats what it is) and can tell ya,,, it will sure make for a not so much fun ride!!!!!!!
-
Thought EXACTLY the same thing 93,, either a front or rear tire went flat = that would do it.. Loosing a front fender would do it too.. Have had LOTS of experience with the age old low speed wobble and, IMHO, this looks nothing like what that is all about.. That wobble dissappears once ya get over 45 (or less) and is easily controllable by not letting go of the bars.. I do gotta say though,, I have had death wobbles like that at high speeds (had Honda 1100f that had that propensity) and it can come about from several things.. Loose fairings, worn fork bushings, low air pressure in tires to name a few.. Had a buddy get killed when his drinking cup fell out of its holder (why I only use Styro foam to this day) and found its way down between the yoke and frame - I just betcha a front fender coming loose could have the same affect.. Seems like I remember @Flyinfool experiencing the affects of a loose front fender? No matter why,,,, I hope the rider came out ok on that one = NASTY CRASH!!!!

Well drain my battery and call me a discharged dork,, for the life of me I cannot recall anything like that being associated with the side covers on any of my 1st Gens,,, maybe associated with the shifter linkage or something Wish one of you lop eared varmints would enlighten me What cha'll talking about??????

Oh yea,, and looking at the pic in the article Don,,,,, I thought the "Rocket 3" was a Triumph name sake that they snuck in after the early BSA Rocket 3's were gone ,,,, now India brings the Beezer back and the first thing they do is and with BSA's life long arch rival :guitarist 2::guitarist 2::guitarist 2: this is great = MY KINDA PEOPLE :crackup: Least they arent doing yet another HD Clone I reckon :cool10::cool10:

I always LOVED that ol British iron... Cool in a purist motorcycle kind of way IMHO.. Hopefully they have a little better luck in the industry than India made Enfield's have had (sort of a hard sell - again IMHO) but still,,, nothing wrong with the revival of yet another icon!!! PS = I have been saying and saying and saying I never had a Royal Star like most of the lop eared varmints around here.. Seeing this reminded me of a BSA Royal Star that I owned for a short time many many years ago.. Guess that makes me a Royal Star owner before owning a Royal Star was cool
-
You heard em Jeff,, pull a bead with those nozzles - lock em down for the season and let er buck:thumbsup:

May or may not have paid to much Twisted - one nice thing about these good old Ventures, after ya get em sorted out they are very solid machines. Finish her up and begin the process of racking up the miles of smiles:thumbsup:!!! By the way,, to VR and alllll the best in getting your scoot up to par... Puc PS - ,,, start a new thread (this ones kind of an old one) and include some 's of your scoot = the lop eared varmints around this joint would LOVE to hear about it!!!

Hey Coff,, here is an EXCELLENT article by another lop eared VR varmint named Marcarl you really find interesting pertaining to diaphram replacement. Every once in a while Carl actually does say something that makes since and this was one of those times http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?19271-Carb-Diaphram-Replacement

Main jet needles different lengths?
cowpuc replied to garyS-NJ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Sorry about being a day late and hope I aint a dollar short on this one (that Yamagrl snuck one in on me:big-grin-emoticon:) - been having to lay low trying to get some blood clots under control while getting ready for my next biopsy this Monday,,, at any rate,,,, here's what I know.. This is STRICKLY from an 83/84 MK1 1st Gen perspective (all I have worked on) so keep that in mind.. The needles are all the same length. The American market 83/84's did NOT have the adjustable metering rods - I have heard that the Canadian models did come with the notches to move the e-clip up and down for adjustment but I have never owned one of those so I cant confirm. I did have to adjust the metering rods in one of my 300k bikes due to the emulsifer wearing (bike could not handle the extra fuel from the main jet) - I did so by purchasing nylon washers and replacing the little plastic collar and lowering the needle 1mm - this made a HUGE difference and worked perfectly. From that I highly suspect that someone - somehow put the wrong metering rod in your scoot Gary as the differences you gave between your metering rods is a LOT more than what I am talking about.. Here is a short thread about what I did with some pics: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?86325-Carb-metering-rod-question/page2&highlight=metering Concerning patching up diaphrams. I have experimented a LOT with finding just the right patching method (keeping old 1st Gens has been an on going experiment ). I have found the best sealant to use is Yamabond #5 . Clean and dry the outside area of the Diaphram real well with spray carb cleaner and make sure its dry. Lightly smear #5 on the pin hole slightly larger than hole. Let dry. Make another light smear over that only a little larger and let dry. I have successfully ran diaphrams patched like that for MANY MANY miles. Hope this helps! Puc
