VIDEO OF AIR FORCE ONE LEAVING MUSKEGON MI TINY AIRPORT!! AMAZING!!
cowpuc replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
I use to attend the Air Shows in Muskegon,, they were AWESOME!! One really fun thing that my little boy and I had happen to us at one of the air shows in Muskegon was we bumped into a Chopper pilot who told us about Steel Gate. We were looking at a Cobra Gunship, he over heard me tell my son that I would LOVE to see one fly.. The Pilot told us about a practice area up by Waters Michigan where it all comes together at.. He took my address and sent me some video's (VHS) of Steel Gate.. Jay, my son, and I made several trips up there (up near the Mackinaw Bridge) to watch them do fly ins, drop bombs, shoot mini gun cannons from A-10s and lots of other cool stuff.. Got to go up in the Towers and watch them.. One time we were there the ground troops were there with tanks and stuff,, wonderful times!! This was all wayyyyyyy before 9/11 changed everything. A quick phone call and I could actually get the Militaries schedule for the area and drive up and watch them work out. Tip and I stopped up there on the bike (miles and miles of sandy two tracks and tank track areas to get to the air base) and they were sealed right off after 9/11. We returned up there last year in Trooper and they have it completely revamped and I dont believe they allow civilians in any longer. Maybe,,, not sure.. Anyway Deej,, that air show you speak of has some really special memories for me/us!! Do you remember the metal eating "Dinosaur" they always had at the show?? My kids loved it LOL.. Another extreme memory was the Stealth fly by!!! I could not believe how it flew sooo quietly,,, like it barely disturbed the air!! I know NOTHING about aircraft but I gotta tell ya,, that thing was crazy cool!! -

Thanks Fool!! Good info!! So,, if it wasnt a 757 or a 747,,,,, what was it? -
I took this video of our countries BEAUTIFUL 757 AIR FORCE ONE jet departing from our teeny tiny airport here in Muskegon Mi! I was telling Tippy that it is a known fact that our air strip is wayyyyy to small for the big boys like this MACHINE to land/depart on and that is why all of our areas big jet flights work out of Grand Rapids International.. I was therefore thinking our President would fly in in Marine One instead of Air Force One but,, guess what - THEY DID IT!! WOW was it beautiful and amazing!! I have also been knocking on doors and chatting with a lot of our areas elderly about our country and current issues.. They gave me a message to pass on to the President, which I do during this video.. If you have no interest in hearing their idea's/input, just turn off the sound and enjoy the Wings of Liberty in lift off!! Puc

Thumping from the floor boards
cowpuc replied to dragonstorm's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Can you duplicate it by tapping on the front brake? Get er goin about 30,, pull the front brake ONLY in hard enough and quickly enough that it makes the bike jump/respond.. Listen/feel carefully and see if it does it.. If it does, watch the neck area/nut on top of triple clamp.. If, as Chief mentions, nut is loose retorque BUT do not discount or over look possible loose neck bearing spec.. Watch area below top clamp at bearings too!! Also,, what are you doing for new front tire balance? Are you now using beads? Did you add anything inside of tire that was not in there when new - like anti flat stuff? They said it was ok like that? A Yamaha shop? Write a sheet of paper up stating they will be responsible if an accident occurs due to front end wobble turning into the death wobble - it happens!! Make it look professional! Have them sign it.. They will back peddle LOL.. -
As the aging process continues in my life so does my focus on fulfilling my after puberty bucket list. Many of you know that one of my last go arounds in bucket list fulfillment was my AR shooter line and also Maggie my R1,,, soooo much fun!! Not long ago,, think it was during the early summer when feeling like I was gonna die from digging while preparing for next springs 500 year flood, while doing some other digging in my Bucket List bucket I discovered a longggggg forgotten dream of owning a big block Vette. I told Tip about it and we were off on another adventure!! A recent realization that my love for AR's was being over takin by the cost of ammo in these uncertain days (stuff I paid 20 cents a round for was now over a buck a round) plus the fact that my hands are shot and not coming back. Fact is,, it is hard to enjoy shooting when it cost so much and you have to load up and pull the trigger with your elbow or toe.. Thinking that over I decided to sell out my shooters (not all) in one big swoop and apply the proceeds toward - The Vette!! Now I know we are not suppose to buy/sell in the Water Hole,, this aint that.. It appears at this time that the sell is done!! So why,, I can hear you lop eared varmints asking,, all the hub bub.. Well,,, I thought maybe some of you would enjoy a gander of the ad I wrote and stuck in the paper that produced what appears to be a pretty nice boost into the possibility that Tip and I will be cruising the beaches here in the Muskegon area in a genuine, 427 big block, 4 speed (still do not get why GM ever put an automatic in a Vette?) Tri-Power (means 3 carbs - wayyyyyyy cool!!) Vette,, all show n no go though -- any form of go has got up and gone LOL.. Anyway,, read and enjoy if your so inclined.. Puc Oh,, P.S.,, take it from someone who knows,, if your not out fulfilling your dreams right now,, you should be!! It is amazing as fast time goes by!! Get out and ride!! I am 100% soooo there with ya Vaz!!! 100%!! Matter of fact,, the small town that I grew up in (Fruitport Mi) had a Hobby Cop who drove a Hemi Plymouth for his Cop Car.. Use to chase me on my minibikes with it LOL.. It was wayyyyyy cool,, he was a wacko but his car was to die for!! Also,, pumped hundreds of gallons of 260 into them when working Co-Op at Sunoco as a kid!! Then later,, my best friend went 1970 Challenger 440 6 pack when I went 1970 Mach 1.. We had a ball!! My only issue now that I am old and geezered and working on my Bucketlist is that the C2/C3 big block Vettes were my "dream car".. Aint rich like Jay Leno so I gotta pick and pick soon before bucketlisting becomes a thing of the past. Tip and I are probably going to make the Indy Mecum auction at months end in an effort to find and bring home that perfect bucketlist dream car. Move over Maggie!! You are headed to the basement for storage and The Vette is taking over!!! LOL -
"WORK SUCKS" - a quote written on the front of the hat that a young man was wearing when he came into my office to interview for a job at a warehouse I was managing.. No,, he did not get the job LOL..

Actually, and I think I speak for others as much as myself here,, Fool reminded me last night of how easy it would be for other unknown intities to enter that Emergency VR Chat Room and watch, read, monitor, copy, paste, distort, use against us anything we say.. This alone is a good solid reason for us lop eared varmints to once again return to the lovely chatroom you have provided for us brother!! Personally,, I spend very very little time on Facebook either because of just that type of stuff. It will be GREAT to be back home!! THANKS!!!!

THANK YOU Josh where ever you are, for helping out our hard working Commanding Officer like you are,, YOU are greatly appreciated!! Also,, no fear Don,, we have the patience of Job and are PROUD of what you do for us and thankful for it!! Personally,, I am amazed at how much energy you have brother!! Glad you folks had a great, much deserved vacation and are now safely back with us! As always,, its all gonna work out just great!! Keep the faith,, we are!!! Puc

Ahhh ohhh,, too late,,, @Flyinfool has already taken advantage of the clubs downtime and set out to capitalize on the crisis by creating his very own version of the then defunct VR Chat Room and, I gotta tell ya Boss,, it is downright amazing!! Sorry about waking you up from your beauty sleep @rbig1!! Here is a copy/paste of the story behind the video that I just posted on Youtube and also found on Youtube!! Our clubs website was down for a couple days as the owner of the site was doing some updating (THANK YOU DON!!). There is a group of us that regularly attend Yama Mama's (biker name for a biker chick) VR Chat Room parties all of who went instantly into withdrawals as soon as our clubs webpage went down. One of those regular attenders, a lop eared varmint by the name of FlyinFool (a dear friend of mine who, it is rumored, actually has a machine that produces the SNOW that covers our country and Canada when Fool decides he needs to do that), decided not to take the clubs missing chat room laying down and decided to go forward and create his own version of the clubs chat room.. After finally figuring out how to navigate Fool's new chat room and while in the process of participating in the same, I noticed an icon shaped like a video camera at the top of the chat room page. Being somewhat of a curious type I could not resist the temptation of clicking on that icon to see what would happen.. This video I took of the response I got is a perfect example of what makes our club so much fun!! Watch as I wake up another Venturerider.org member, a cheerful lop eared varmint named Rbig1, from a solid sleep just to be confronted by the likes of me!! Like what you see? Come join us at Venturerider.org and meet some of these wonderful people in our club!!

I have absolutely zero idea if this is even remotely related to what you are experiencing but can tell you for a fact, I have seen very similar things happen in the back room of my shop a few different times. One example I can think of is having one of my employees working on a scoot, doing wheel bearings so the caliper is hanging from bungee cords. Another employee comes up and starts yapping and while he is yapping the brake lever gets activated enough (why someone would play with squeezing a brake while chatting I have no idea) to force the pads out and empty the master putting air in the system.. The mechanic doing the job thought it was odd that the pads were out when he went to put the wheel back on but didnt think past just forcing the pads back in and putting the caliper back on,, problem solved,, right?? Wrong.. Ended up having to bleed the system to get the air out of it AND,, this was on a system that liked to capture air at the high point (IMHO,, this is common but many really good mechanics do not agree with me on that) which required some tedious bleeding from banjo fittings and leaning the bike just right.. I know,, getting long winded here but I really did want to let you know/answer your question concerning whether or not any of us clubbers have ever heard of such a thing. Bottom line,,, it happens IMHO. Maybe take it back in and let the dealership deal with it? Puc

Will check my supply of parts Pops,, I got a TON of junk left over from riding em since 87,, I may have a set.. If not,, I would dig thru E-Bay.. Personally though my friend,, I would pull it down first and make sure it is only a top end gasket set you will need.. It is not impossible that a reporpused head or block may also be in order.. At 28.99, Yamaha parts house/Babbitts here in Muskegon Mi does show that head gasket available - if nothing else you could just grab a new OEM and do one side.. Here is a link to them:https://www.yamahapartshouse.com/oemparts/a/yam/50042475f8700209bc787e26/cylinder-head -

I hear ya Rod! Was listening to Pops tell me about the leaking frame issue. I was lost for words which, as you of all people know, is really unusual for my backyard mechanican mind.. The ONLY thing I could think of while he was explaining what he was seeing was that maybe he had landed a scoot that was a flood bike and the frame was full of water. I asked if the frame leak increased with flow as he pumped up the raditator pressure test we mentioned to him to try.. Astonishingly he said YES,, could not believe what I was hearing.. He then said something that made me think of those overflows,, he said he was also getting a stream of water coming out of the sync nipple for that pot!! For some reason, my normally unreasonable back yard mechanican brain pictured the carb right above that nipple on that intake manifold filling with, and overflowing with coolant.. When asked, Pops said that indeed,, that was exactly what he was seeing!! All of a sudden my pea brain went PING - I bet the float bowl is filling with coolant from backflow coming thru the carb body and is flowing thru the overflows!! All my bikes had the overflows gather together like a set of plug wires along a manifold on a v-8 right at the top of the frame uprights on that crossbar that sets in front of the fuel tank.. There is a small hoop of metal thats opening is just large enough for the 4 hoses to lay in,, keeps them in order. That area that Pops said his frame was leaking matched up with my minds eyes memory of where number 1 carbs overflow would have laid on my bikes,, ironically exactly where he said his frame was leaking. CRAZY!! Got one strange mind dont I LOL.. Yep,, last I chatted with him, he and both agreed that IF what my pea brain was imagining,, the prospect of the whole issue being tied to a blown head gasket was increased substantially!! I asked Pops if he was gonna fix it,, OHHH HECK YES was his answer!! GET ER DONE POPS!! THE ROAD AWAITS YOU AND YOUR MIGHTY,, BEST TOURING BIKE OF ALL TIME,, 1983 Yamaha Venture with no 2nd gear!! Puc -
4:57,,, even on the slow go Blue Ridge Parkway with speed limit set at 45 mph ya still gotta really watch out for cagers!!! Good job on avoiding that one Chief!

FINALLY got to chat with @Popsnana19655 on the phone! GREAT people!! Other than an AWESOME southern accent which I totally love (my grandparents were southerners from Lil Rock) - I actually think Pops and I are related!! He and his wife are big time tent droppers and BIG TIME lovers of riding beat up ol scoots with no second gear just like Tip and I too LOL!! Anyway,, chatting with Pops,, it occurred to my pea size brain that the over flow hoses for the carbs actually exit via the upper frame area via a small bracket that captures the four hoses before they head down to exit in front of the rear shock.. Ok,, this may sound wayyyyyyyy out there in left field but on the 5 MK1's I have retired and on the one I am currently working on chasing out past 250k miles too,, that is how those hoses are/were routed,,right or wrong that is how they are in my memory. When talking to Pops, it sounded like he was getting a LOT of water accumulating above the piston on the number 1 pot when pressurizing the radiator to test the system,, enough to easily over flow the whole carb.. It occurred to us that it would be completely possible for the carb to be over whelmed enough in its float bowl with water that the overflow hose could actually be flowing water and if that hose had a crack in it at the bend up there on the frame that indeed water could easily appear as coming from the frame. I am not sure but I believe that is what Pops found!! Now lets see if I am right? What say you Pops? -
OUTSTANDING!!! Glad to hear someone who knows what they are doing is working with EC on it!! LOL

That worked awesome!! Are your video's on youtube?? If so, if you go to the video on youtube you want to post up,, scroll down and look under the video,, near the "like or not like" icons.. You see the "share" icon? Click on that.. Now copy/paste that URL into your post here.. Make sense?

That does not surprise me Chief as I know the site is strickly primitive right now,, not sure vid links will work right now,, I will try one in this post and see what happens.. I know Don is taking a much deserved break but will be continuing the upgrade to our webpage as soon as possible when he returns.. I am pretty sure pictures still work though as I see a "choose files" icon at the bottom left of this page.. Tell you what,, in this post I will include a video of how I resize my pics when posting on the site. We have always been under the 1000x750 rule for pic size and usually to large of a pic is the number 1 cause for now being able to post pics.. I will also include a pic here to see if it works.. I am sure there are others as well as myself interested in seeing your ride stories!! Puc

Ohhh yeah,, @ChiefGunner,, spent some time chatting with another of our members who rides an SVTC,, he also lives north of me in Michigan,, @ecbaatz is his name.. I dont think Ec was a clubber here when you were around,, maybe.. Anyway,, EC and I were chatting about a low speed wobble his SVTC developed and some possible cures for it.. Of course,, at best my advice was strickly backyard stuff but I did suggest he ask around and see if any other SVTC/Eluder riders had experienced such... Ever experienced this or know of anyone having this issue?
