Any chance ya gotta link to said show brother?? Been feeling a little spicy in my surgery recovery process - if that show were to show up any where near West Michigan I may very well find the umphhh needed to go - check it out - interview some Mom Yam reps ON VIDEO (so we got em BIG TIME if they make promises and dont fulfill em) and report back here!!!! Thinking that @Flyinfool fell asleep over in Consin and left his White Washer idling - thawing big time again here so if that show is close - may even be able to sneak Tweeks out of the garage and ride her to the show - WOW would that feel good!!!

Definitely a KEEPER!! Wont be long and that little champ will be keeping the fridge drained of ice cream, the local McDonalds drained of fun meals and then your cars and bikes drained of gas !!! Good advice so far.. 2 other options: If weather is conducive (not FREEZING) down yonder = unload bike, leave truck at shop, tell them will pick up in 2 months - ride ur ride!! Next option, get 2 five gallon gas cans, fill with fuel - run till she sputters, check mileage - fill from cans - continue trip and stop n get gas within mileage parameters = part of the adventure.. Drive till ya get to warm weather = park that truck and ride the scoot!!! Where there's a will there's a way = never give up = the very best adventures are made from a good attitude that refuses to stop moving = attitude determines your latitude :superman: PS = AWESOME PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PS, PS = wheel bearings can cause wonder but so can brake drag or alignment/worn steer parts.. Wheel bearing replace shouldnt be to bad being good old rear wheel drive. If its steer parts, and parts arent ready to fall off, sometimes putting a little extra toe in on the alignment will help - maybe and 1/8th inch instead of 1/16th of toe.. Can set with tape measure across wheels.. Dragging brakes - same routine as with our bikes only probably wheel cylinders or brakes snagging up on backing plate (doubt its disc braked).. Sometimes squirting with brake cleaner and backing off adjusters will help... wish I was there - we could have a BALL ripping that puppy apart in an abandoned gas station parking lot:178: Will try to make chat tonight to hear all about stuff brother!!! Get your bike out - dont get bored!!!:bikersmilie:

Sooo, "trivia 1st gen carb part question". Or, "start to another debate"
cowpuc replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Sounds like a doable plan on ur part Snype except 4 the part where you n Tink get there before Tweeksis n i and she comes to a halt beside your unguarded scoot. Maybe a better plan would be to take a piece of duct tape, put an extra screw under it and stick it to the slide cover. Do this to each carb and you should be fairly safe to ride anywhere and park anywhere in the U.S. and Canada! -
One of the things I usually check on my 1st Gens when I notice that sluggish feelings is a quick spit check on the headers to make sure she's hitting on four.. These scoots will run remarkably well on 3.. A fouled plug is not uncommon if one is in the habit of over choking - these "D" plugs dont seem to have enough surface area to withstand a lot of blackening before resistance takes over and no sparky.. Next is to pull the slide covers on the carbs and check my diaphrams and slide movement.. Look carefully along the area where the diaphram meets the carb body and also any folds or rub spots on the diaphrams. Wear spots and small cracks can easily be repaired using YamaBond #5 (light smear),, have tried many many different on road repair methods thru the years and found #5 to be the best (carry a tube in your bikes Maintenance Dept).. have ran thousands of miles on repaired diaphrams - its a flaw in my character = make er run kind of guy.. Dont forget to sync those carbs when done with any of the above = out of sync carbs will also cause sluggishness.. Also, may sound far fetched but it not a bad idea to do a quick brake check to make sure you dont have brake drag causing sluggishness.. Take a rubber mallet, smack the side of the calipers to drive the pistons in enough that you can feel looseness in the calipers - do all three. Find a spot you can run a ways without using the brakes to see if it feels any better. May discover a brake problem is causing sluggishness.. Also, not a bad idea to free up those calipers once in a while anyway - tends to keep things moving in there and only take a second.. Do it in front of a group of bikers, looks cool walking around beating on your scoot with a hammer Short story about that = was at a Yamaha shop out in Utah - had to buy and swap out a rear tire in their parking lot so Tip n I would have a flat up in the mountains... Few minutes and I had the rear tire off, hardest part was finding something to back off the caliper with (forgot my rubber mallet).. Grabbed a pallet from the pallet pile behind there in the parking lot. Had the pallet in my hands and was getting ready to smack the rear caliper with the corner of the pallet - look up just in time to see the service manager and a mechanic standing in the doorway of the shop with a :yikes: on each of their faces... at em and said = works for me!!! Spooned on the tire, walked over and replaced the pallet - gave em as we rode off toward California to play with our kids!!

I got one of those fancy bit thingys in the form of a small punch.. I just take the punch, place it against that little nipple looking thing that protrudes in the center of the confounded secret agent security screw, give the punch a smack with my 007 framing hammer - that little nipple becomes nothing more than a short lived bump standing in the way of a good adventure out CTFWin.. Slip a normal allen wrench into the once upon a time security screw - remove and give it toss and replace it with normal, everyday, left over screw from the bike parked next to mine at a Maintenance Day event... **** ,, this is kind of an old thread ya bunch of lop eared varmints,,,,,, sure seems like one of you guru's would have come up with another,,, maybe even more , trivia question by now - thinkin 4 years should have been plenty of time for ya'll to have done so,,,,, maybe,,, maybe not:hihi: -
Well Master Dragonslayer,,, I aint gonna lie to ya brother,, I honestly cant say that I can relate... Have never really been much a sports fan,, just another flaw in my character.. Tip and I did get together with a slew of neighborhood friends for a Super Bowl Party though.. Went down to my buddies house who I helped build the Sporty Trike.. He invited several couples,, grilled a bunch of Rib Eye Steaks and had a HUGE smorgasboard of the FINEST viddles known to man (the stuffed olives were SUPREME!!)... Us guys sat in the garage - buddy had the hood of his Vette popped and I sat on the front tire eating my curbs and whey.. Got asked who I thought would win - had to to think who might be playing - remembered hearing someone say "Falcons" a few days ago so I said the Falcons by 12 cause the Lions aint been doing to good - all my buddies looked at each other and .. That was pretty much the end of our discussion about football - us five guys sat in the garage and talked scoots (friend Larry just traded in his V-Rod on a brand new Low Rider S - gonna be building on another one!! The discussion turned to a cross country - tent camping - ride plan for Sturgis this year.. Then we started digging thru the new Screaming Eagle parts catalog.. We were constantly interuppted by screams from the ladies inside the house who were watching a football game.. Tip came out to check on me and said the Falcons were ahead 28 to nothing (I think) - I looked at those bozo's I was partying with and said = I TRIED TO TELL YOU GUYS BUT OHHH NO:buttkick:!!! Later, after all the booze was drunk in the garage (not by me - I was sipping my Dr. Pepper) and the steaks were gone and the olives had disappeared - the ladies all came out and said "UNREAL" and then muttered something about "first time in history for overtime" - when asked who won = got told "The Patriots" - look at the guys staring at me and said - heyyyyyyyyyy,,,, kinda like the recent election,, the Patriots won - everyone ROARED and we all went home The End

,,,,, meet at DQ in Oberlin = 10 p.m. on the 14th,, bring tent cause I aint sharing my Menards motel.. Combine our retirement funds and eat till we almost puke.. Ride over to Don's at midnight, turn our bikes off at the end of his drive way and coast over to the pine trees.. After unloading our gear = Put branches around them and quietly (means NO Carl) walk back to backside of the pond where no monsters live. I looked there during MD (always looking for a "just in case" emergency camp ground - place is AWESOME) and noticed plenty of room to camp and not get .. Get up, go back to DQ for breakfast.. Bring your GPS so we dont have to trust my incredible skills in finding places we are heading so we get to auction before its over..

Hi RC and WELCOME to VR!! Sounds like your scoot and mine (her name is "Tweeksis") have a lot in common my friend.. Here is a shot of us doing exactly what you and your scoot just did under the same situation... FINALLY got a break in the weather here in West Michigan and the clouds of medical issues subsided enough to get out and suck in some fresh air!!! Get a chance - would LOVE to see a shot of your scoot!! All the best! Puc

ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup: Hey Bassett = if you dont mind - please take a few notes and pics about how/what you are able to loose on the scoot in this process and how you bypass any electrical stuff.. Personally, I LOVE where you are headed and LOVE your "minimalist" approach to bobbing (IMHO - thats what bobbing is all about)!! Anything - no matter how small may be helpful to others my good man!! LOOKING GREAT THIS FAR!! Carry on brother!! Puc

,,,, and by the way,,, that pooch is cute enough to smooch!!!!

I hear ya Cammy and I really have no answer for the solution to your question of why........ I always filed my issues with those issues under the heading of "some kind of flaw in my charecter" .. I do know this,,,, someday when Tip aint looking ,,, Lord willing and the creek dont rise,,, a v-8 powered Boss Hoss is gonna follow me home to seek refuge in my garage :biker: cause I got and have suffered all my life with the "there is NO replacement for displacement" syndrome..... :witch_brew::stirthepot:
