Hmmmmm,,, as long as you and Molly are talking a variety of flavors here,,, thinkin out loud,,,, perhaps any kind of yeller snow would not be good form,,,,,, I am thinking the Chocolate Chip idea would better serve the general public who have been trained to not eat yeller snow..... On another note and springing off that tiny lettered comment you tried to hide from us ,,,, those Chips would probably serve as a better nozzle plug too... Giving my good buddy FlyinFool x2 the chance at increasing his good buddy count!!! Gotta remember Jeff = this is a motorcycling family and most motorcycling family members are pretty shy about riding their scoots on white wash,, even if it has a special flavor:guitarist 2::rasberry:

Looks great,, if it works (and I have no doubt it will) = for us folks living in the rain belts,, maybe fill a small spray bottle with this and use it for regular windshield cleaning.. Let us know what you discover will ya Vaz!! Thanks

Really look forward to a ride report if you do go demo one... Thing looks amazing to me too.. One of the main issues I would have is the potential for having to depend on a dealer for repair stuff and,, from what I have been told about BMW,, $$$$'s associated with that (both parts and labor) = NEVER owned one,, only saying that out of hear say.. I think @VanRiver has a Beemer now - what do you know about that Riv? Wanna a little brother? I had a neighbor offer me a really really nice Wing recently for a super price - his wife has major health issues and they are done biking. We kicked it around and came to the conclusion that I/we probably dont have enough CTFW time left in life to start the learning curve on a new scoot and a whole new brand.. I think the memory stick sitting on my shoulders is 80% 1st Gen data - be a sad day to have an issue up in those mountains of Utah and have no idea how to even begin taking the plastic off one of those things, then have to haul it 2 states to a dealership that is gonna charge me 400 bucks an hour cause the issue was something not covered by a warranty...

I use RainX sometimes on my old windshield but its usually long gone by the time the rain hits from me cleaning my windshield at gas stations LOL.. I know its not good for the plastic but I regularly clean my windshield with PlastX and any way so it dont matter.. Pledge spray on furniture polish works awesome too but I am usually to lazy to go inside and steal the stuff from Tippy.. I keep my sunglasses wrapped in one of those micro fiber windshield rags (cheap at Menards). When I clean bugs off my windshield,, or if I am riding my R1 with my full face flip down shield I do the same, I like to wet the shield - rub in circles with my finger tips to loosen bugs (NEVER use paper towels in those gas station stands = will scratch em bad) - grab my micro fiber and clean it off.. Its amazing how even this helps a LOT with rain run off...

AWESOME!!!!!!! Hopefully Ready had one of his family sneak out back and stuff some Custard in those infamous nozzles.. At least add some flavoring this year.. Heyyyyy,, wait a second,,,,,,, somethings missin here.. ,, GOOD ON YA AIR READY FAMILY!!!

One of the things I LOVED doing while out CTFW on the far Canadian east coast was hunting for Tidal Bores (no Americans,, NOT the same as Snipe Hunting).. The young ones may find it boring but the adults would probably enjoy it.. Also, exploring the tides of the Bay of Fundy and clam digging is a ball.. There use to be a free Marine Life exibit thing also somewhere along the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia that was awesome - sort of like a tiny version of the Monterey Bay Aquarium out on our west coast. Farther east right on the coast is a freebie Zoo like thing full of animals that ate all the apples I had on my bike and even further east and up farther is an area with,, surprisingly warm - almost bath like temps - water and great swimming,, still puzzles me why that water up there was so warm.. Lots of awesome roads or CTFW out there but those are the only things I can think of that besides just riding.. Wish they was coming this way,, would LOVE to say howdy to your daughters and spoil your grandkids up some for ya Carl!!

Alright,, just thinking this threw in case someone else has an issue like this and needs to travel to a spot where they can repair their scoot.. I have had to run my bike(s) to safety/repair under similar circumstances off battery only on several occasions.. Disconnect everything, including lights and stuff - buy a battery charger (and even a car battery strapped to its side for long range) and head for home.. Not a biggy.. That said.. If a situation happened like you mention Joe,, you think the best way to handle it,, to ride out to safety and protect your stator in the process,, would a person unplug the stator wires and disconnect the faulty regulator so the battery could not discharge thru it.. Then ride out under battery power? Maybe even disconnect the fuel pump = run a full tank of gas so your gravity feeding only? Ya think spinning that alternator without the wires hooked up and no place for the voltage to discharge would be hard on those coils?? Hmmm,, I think I would assume not.. I think I would go ahead and disconnect it - its not like those windings are electronic - they are still just coils... Anyone follow my train of thought here?? Joe? -

Indeed that does sound like a Regulator issue. Agree with Don,, do a voltage test at the battery with the bike running,, it should show 12 to 13 volts at idle and then jump to 14.5 volts max with throttle.. Higher, unregulated voltage will fry a battery.. Be careful in there with a fuming battery - a spark can cause a boom... I would also double check my connections at the battery - make sure I didnt somehow forget to hook up a ground wire or get something crossed up on hook up of the new batt.. Did you replace the old battery because it was shot - was it kaput because it had been fried? Possibly an ongoing issue not addressed?? I have zero experience with the 2nd Gens but seem to remember reading of regulator issues,, maybe,, maybe not.. May do a quick search.. Seems like I read that the regulator on them is mounted right behind the front wheel.. If so,, is it possible that that area is exposed to a LOT of moisture/mud/rocks whatever and that it might not be a bad idea to look closely there at any terminal connections - maybe you have a bad connection on a ground wire in a terminal causing regulator issues?? The mounting position of the stator wire terminal on the frame of the 1st Gens has been VERY problematic for me thru the years - to the point of not trusting it at all and hard wiring that terminal is manditory for me - I really dont enjoy issues like your experiencing.. Dirt = resistance and resistance = real problems when dealing with that stuff.. Hope ya get it figured out and this helps somehow.. Puc -
A little more follow up on this thread.. Take a read on this one: http://theforneypost.com/index.php/government/1466-indian-motorcycle-franchise-will-not-open-in-forney-after-all,,, it seems Polaris's lack of sales in their Victory line and their ultimately closing of that line caused a 2 1/2 year planned Polaris Indian dealership investment to be shut down.. I still cannot help but think there might actually be something to the slowing down of the industry/market.. It does seem like there are more and more less actual "touring" of scoots going on out there IMHO,, and,, our local Rally's - similar to the Sturgis Rally the last few years dont seem to have the attendance they used to have.. On a different note,, it also seems like more and more people around West Michigan are using high end "touring bikes" (LOTs of HD's = still never see any Polaris's - seems like their screw up at the beginning with the Victory trannies and our local Polaris Dealership kicking Polaris out because of it has had lasting affect) being used as "bar hoppers".. Definitely an interesting topic if one is into CTFW Jack!!

Correcto mongo Fool!! Kind of puzzling too cause even with just the watercooled exhaust valve they gotta have radiators, water pump, over flow res and plumbing.. May as well just went ahead and cooled the thing.. Was yakkin with one of the factory guys recently about it and said that to him - he made it absolutely clear that the next step - of cooling the entire heads - was already planned and would be very easily accomplished.. He also reminded me that the traditionalist in their world are kind of sensitive about this stuff and the Motor Company has to take baby steps as they move forward with water cooling = his words not mine..

OUTSTANDING Tom!!! Glad to hear all went well!! ,,, ,,,,,, been meaning to ask you Canuckians something,,, can you folks buy 's up yonder?? Reason I ask,,, I was trying to follow along with some of your countrymen about another recent rally some of them went to in New York and noticed that even after asking about 's - they either didnt want to or couldnt produce any pics.. Just wondered if there is a shortage of camera's up there or something... :witch_brew:

Thanks Mike but I really cant take any credit for it.. In all fairness and honesty, that quote of "" the rumble, heat, and heft of an enormous V-twin is a necessary part of the road-trip experience."" was actually something I copy/pasted from an actual article about the top 5 long distance touring scoots that was put to print back in March.. Giving credit where credit is due, that article can be found here in its entirety: https://rideapart.com/articles/the-5-best-touring-motorcycles-bike-for-doing-distance Seeing "heat" from an air cooled V-Twin listed as a huge plus by the modern day touring riders (of which Mom Yam clearly was in touch with on the design for our new Venture) for the modern day long 2 up long distance scoot still seems somewhat disconcerting to my touring wanna be way of thinking but,, heyyy,, at least I now feel enlightened!! Thanks for the on the post brother!! Appreciated!!

OUTSTANDING!! Only this time Mom Yam is gonna have to bring it to my house in Michigan to prove she aint pulling no more jokes or playing no more game with all this.. Gotta remember Mom Yam,, the ol Pucster gots a new tuner on his pump now and cant handle practical jokes like he used to = that last one even made my tuner skip a beat or two.. So,, all that said,, this time,, instead of Tip, Tweeks and I heading for the East Coast for the unveiling and then later to the Sturgis Rally to see the V-Max motored Venture as outlined in post #9 found in this thread: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?102280-Let-the-discussion-begin because you really did listen to us Yamaha Venture riders like you said you did,,,,,,, you will need to bring it to my home in Michigan to prove you were only kidding by introducing the new air cooled V-Twin belt/pulley driven Star Stratoliner Tourer (NICE Strat by the way) as a Venture... Tell ya what,, just to show no hard feelings about the whole misunderstanding,, I will leave the outside lights on for you and Tip will have fresh cookies baked for ya to munch on while we are outside demoing the scoot.. If its to our liking (probably gonna wanna stick er on the dyno and make sure those specs that Casey produced are rear wheel specs = thats very important = IMHO,, "turning the touring world upside down" means all the other touring bikes out there (like that new Beemer) will only be viewable in the mirrors and THAT only momentarily = kind of like these 1st Gen Ventures have done to all those V-Twins all those years.. -
:lightbulb:,, late season campin with testing of the new Venture in Death Valley??? Hold a Meet n Greet right out yonder in the middle of no where!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your a lop eared nasty varmint, a really bad egg, in a nice kind of way but still naughty Tip and I took Tweeks out for an end of season stroll last Saturday.. On the way home, we ended up at a Harley shop holding demo rides up North of us just in time to grab some of their left over road grub = pulled pork (Hog?) sandwiches, beans and taters.. Should have seen em laugh when I parked Tweeks right in front of the sales barn where HD's were parked all over, stepped off her - gave her GORGEOUS Back Off Whip a good tug for luck and walked into the barn where the food was being served and started singing "Long Tall Glasses" to the waitresses = place went WILD Neil!! Later,, test rode the new 114 inch Walkee "8" Fat Bob (LOVE those scrambler pipes,, I am a SUCKER for scrambler pipes)... Gotta say,, compared to my 78 80 inch Shovel Head Low Rider (that actually saw your area a couple times with me on her back Neil, including Death Valley) = WOWZY was it amazing!! The Motor Company is finally turning the corner in looking beyond bling for sales IMHO.. Thinkin they realize the mid to upper aged folks who got caught up in the whole "a fully blinged out HD is the only real scoot" routine and really had no interest in advancements in ride and such are just about out of the picture and the younger folks are looking more at performance of both engine and ride.. That said, even the 114 inch is not on the same page as our V-4's performance wise - IMHO - even that lightweight Fat Bob would have its hands full against a fully packed for the open road Tweeks with both Tip and I on her back - not jokin.. But - WOW did it handle!! When I pulled back in the parking lot on the new '18 HD I could tell Tweeks had hurt feelings.. While heading home we bumped into another brands version of an air cooled twin (see vid).. I assured Tweeks after showing her this one that she should in no way feel threatened for replacement!! So,, brother VentureFar ,, any more news on if/when/where/possibilities of you laying your Iron Butt riding biker claws into that new one??

In rain heavy enough to get into my eyes I like to jump on the Ick-spressway and speed up to +80 so I stay dry behind Tweeks windshield,, then,, if its raining real hard I lean in and snuggle close behind her shield - amazing how dry ya can stay by doing this.. If its REALLY pouring when doing this I will take my hat and tuck in around those open vents down under her handle bars where her triple trees meet the her neck on one side and hold my hand over the other side so the rain dont come flying up from there and get in my eyes.. If it's raining harder than that and the rain contains hail stones much larger then grape size or, I am caught behind a bunch of geezers going 10 mph in their cages cause they are afraid they might get their cars wet or,, I get caught on the Ick-spressway in a construction zone (as shown in vid below) I will seek refuge = works for me..

INDEED - WOWZY WOW WOW WOW what a scoot!! I was reading about that one in an online Biker Mag Sailor - it made the top of the list in the top 5 long distance touring bikes and looks to be quite the ride!! Here is a link to the article I was reading: https://rideapart.com/articles/the-5-best-touring-motorcycles-bike-for-doing-distance Personally I find it interesting that the Polaris Road Master hauled in a 2nd place in this category but after reading the underscore for the Polaris I could see why = it seems that a lot of long distance riders today actually consider getting roasted by the heat of an air cooled V-Twin as an essential part of CTFW.. Also note,, the above article was released in March = BEFORE the unveiling and release of the new air cooled V-Twin Venture.. Perhaps the top 5 long distance touring bike awards would have been different had they waited for this new one..
