  1. GOOD EYE THERE SNYPE!! What happened was we got chasing around in the Utah mountains on snake trails and Tweeks decided to cop an attitude about some of the terrain I was coaxing her to go down.. She bucked a little, we stepped off her and she landed on her side.. We weren't strong enough to upright her against the angle of the mountain so she had to go inverted to get er back on er feet.. If you look at her right saddle bag (which is now on her sister Tweeksis) you may also notice some stitching protruding under it?? Other battle scars from that same episode.. That ol scoot was quite the machine!!
  2. BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Suggest ya dont run it no more till ya get that new regulator on there.. P.S. - where did you find the Volt/Ohm meter with the built in radio = NICE!!
  3. so me filling my speedo with grease until the back side of the lense is totally covered with no air pockets in it like I just did is probably perfect,, right?? Next question is, is there another adapter to use on my tach so I can fill it too so it matches the speedometer when I look at it?? Perhaps an adapter that I could screw on to one of the number 18 size wires I see hanging from my tach?? :rasberry::rasberry::rasberry::moon::moon::moon::moon::moon::moon: ,,, we might have just invented the worlds very first wire greaser... We can market it as "the ONLY approved method of applying dielectric grease to terminals without having to dismantle them = pump the grease thru the wiress!!".. Stick with me Fool,, we are gonna be TRILLIONAIRS!!
  4. Yep,, the lowers on this new one are permanent and house lots of electrical and braking components. Also, if you look at the face of the lowers it appears that they are vented top to bottom.. All but the bottom two vent slots are fake - only the bottom two openings on each lower unit is functional for air movement - not kidding,, I dont understand it but I am serious..
  5. What browser are you using Jeff?? On my old laptop I had to drop Firefox and go with Chrome to get video's to play.. I also know I had to update my Adobe Flash too.. Have you in the recent past been able to watch vids that I have posted? I have not switch camera's but I have been using a newer computer I picked up for cheap, maybe that is why your unable to view them.. Is it just my videos that I post on the site here? Maybe I am linking them wrong.. Can you still go to You Tube and watch video's there?
  6. Little 450 shaft drive, automatic Suzuki... Any of you lop eared bike crazy varmints ever own one of these?? Pretty neat looking little scoot = never really was much of a Suzuki man BUT they sure did build some interesting stuff in years past.. https://grandrapids.craigslist.org/mcy/d/1983-suzuki-suzuki-matic/6323512905.html
  7. Nope, just the one in the Vid..
  8. You best hurry up and finish the story Kretz cause I reckon that Harley rider who fell off his scoot in front of your Jeep and got his jacket trapped under that right front wheel of yourn is probably getting mighty hungry right about now.. I knowed a few of them Harley riders in my days of playing around Sturgis and the only time I ever did see one actually get fighting mad when they couldnt keep up with that stickered covered ol Yamaha of mine was when he was hungry and I beat em to the feeding hole... Matter of fact,, might not be a bad idea to take em a plate of spaggetti before ya pull foward and cut em loose seems how ya waited this long...
  9. You are more than welcome Ponch and here is part 2 of the lubing the rear brake pedal video.. Hope it helps somehow!! Puc
  10. Your welcome Sly and THANK YOU for reminding me of my "awe poop" moment = that was so long ago I forgot all about it Thats hard to believe too cause that little "AWE POOP" comment is what got me involved in this little 1/2 time disaster out at Americade during the unveiling.
  11. I am going with D and E.. By gosh I hope it wasn't B cause I hate to hear about people falling over on their scoots..
  12. So you remove the speedometer cable from the back of the speedo and screw this grease delivery tool onto the stub where the cable attaches?? If so,, do you recall approxamitly how many pumps on the grease gun handle to shoot into that puppy?? Till the grease comes out below the speedo needle or into the trip meter = sorry brother,, couldnt help myself:big-grin-emoticon: PLEASE dont cover me in White Wash:95:
  13. Then I would try bleeding it from the line on that caliper and if nothing came out there I would go upstream and try bleeding it form the location described in this video.. All in an effort to see where the plug is.. Could be deteriourate rubber hose leading to caliper..
  14. Push down on the rear brake pedal and pop the bleeder open on that caliper as your pushing down and see if she bleeds some fluid out of the bleeder (careful not to release the pedal until you close the bleeder so you dont pull air in the system).. Maybe you have a stuck caliper??
  15. Here ya go Ponch - Pt 1 of a 2 part series (my flashlight turned off the camera).. Hope this helps.. Pt-2 is cooking
  16. Actually, in all the thousands of miles I have chased around on these 1st Gens I have never ever had problems with the speedo cable itself.. My issues have always pivoted around the infamous speedometer itself going SQWAUUKKKKKKKKKKK at just the right time and the right intensity to scare the living daylights out of ya = even if ya pretty much know its coming Shooting oil up into em without dismantling the varmint is difficult and WD40 just does not last that long. Even taking the cable shroud and putting oil in it and hitting it with compressed air can have minimal affect.. Dont know if any one else ever experienced this one but the one on Tweeks that failed down in Dennison Texas just before Squid and I repaired her failed stator on the way to California via Big Bend NP had the needle all of a sudden take off and start whirring around inside the speedo like a clock from the Twilight zone = telling ya Bob, coulda powered a small air plane with that thing.. Then,, BANG = show was over!! Nursed that speedo for over 270k and then BANG... @FlyingFool - I am still riding these 83's and the one I got now has a working speedo = was that grease you pumped in there?
  17. I had one of my 1st Gens once that was kind of tricky in diagnosing its diaphram issues.. The thing sounded great, performed just fine to about half throttle, slide functions looked good, synced good too but it just didnt goooooooo like it should've - felt like it was running out of gas.. I finally ripped the diaphrams out of it and found small wear thru areas on the diaphrams right where the diaphrams met the carb bodys.. It was really crazy because the rubber was still covering the wear thru spots and you had to lift up on the flap of rubber to see the wear thru's.. I "reglued" the loose rubber over the thin spots with YamaBond 5 and BINGO,, came right back to life..
  18. That front left caliper (on the left side if you are sitting in the saddle of the bike = left side,, same side as the shift lever is on) is operated by the rear brake pedal = its a linked system (unless someone has delinked it). Did you know that?
  19. Ponch, the clutch appears to be working properly now.. What I saw on that first video looks normal to me.. Concerning the rear brake sticking down, indeed - you need to lube up the pivot locations on the rear brake pedal. Hold on,, I will make you a video of the spots to lube..
  20. Nope,, not going stir crazy,,, just being my natural self.... ,,, wait a minute,,, I'll take that back,,, going crazy is my natural self
  21. I am right there with ya buddy - WHAT A BALL!! I was an avid Michigan deer slaying varmint for many years.. One of my favorite hand gun rounds for knocking em dead was my .44 mag.. Did an AWESOME job in the range you are talking about.. I totally understand your take on the brush hunting - my favorite hunting - either bow or gun - was down in the thick stuff!! IMHO, that hard hitting .44 mag was AWESOME!! Also found them easy to reload because of the straight jacket, loved Hornady XTP Hollow points and, if I ran out of fun from shooting at cans, ammo was ALWAYS easy to find because of its popularity.. I normally carried my short barreled 30/30 340C Savage (that my dad bought me for my 14th Birthday) when chasing em around up north but in situations like your facing over on the other side = that .44 was AWESOME! All that said,, I think if it were me in your shoes and having already done the 44 mag scene and thinking of a CVA rifle,, I would probably give the 450 Bushmaster a shot.. DEFINITELY should be a thick brush deer slaying winner IMHO.. And,, it is a change from the ordinary - spice of life and all that.. By the way,, I LOVE the looks of those CVA's and GOOD prices when ya think about it.. Wish I was wealthy,,, I always wanted a Contender with all the barrels and also a Ruger 1 in all calibers (or,, if I were Trump rich,, SHARPS).. The Hunting man cant never have enough shooters I tell ya!! What ever your gonna do ya better do it soon = November 15th draweth nigh!!
  22. INDEED ya bunch of lop eared snow birdin varmints,, knock of the White Washer king will ya?? Every time you varmints get em charged up and turning those nozzles in another direction my yard gets covered with over spray and I gotta clean the mess up!! CONGRATS :wow::group cheers: to that south bound retired Haywood couple on your retirement!! Here's to many many years of CTFW adventures and BEAUTIFUL sunsets on those white sand beaches of Florida!!
  23. So did you use actual grease in the speedo? Isnt that stuff to thick? I used synthetic bicycle chain lube sprayed into the hole where the cable attaches and it worked for a while.. Was the device you used for greasing the speedo basically a grease zerk on a screw on tube so you could pump grease into the speedo after screwing the zerk adapter on where the cable attaches?? Got any pics?? Dont seem like that would be to hard to make,, using an old speed cable outer casing = put a zerk on one end = could reach right up in there and screw it on and grease er up if thats what we are talking about Fool... Come on ya lop eared varmint - spill the beans!! Give it up!!
  24. A buddy sent me a link to this video report of a test on the new Venture recently.. Having demoed the same bike at Sturgis and forming my own views of the new machine, then watching other reports and wondering if those reports were talking about the same bike I had ridden (lots of claims of amazing performance, no getting hot legged from the air cooled motor ect. ect.) because my take on the scoot was sooo far from others was kind of causing me pause thinking I had been dreaming about what I thought I had experienced. Even things like the Star guys claiming one of the HUGE pluses with using the narrower V-Twin was a narrower width at the knees when setting on the scoot and me actually thinking it was much wider and splayed my knees wayyy more than my supposedly wider V-4 motored 1st Gen but - I didnt put a tape measure to it so = confusing that which is already confused.... Now after watching this report and listening to this fellow riders step by step descriptions of what he felt and smelt as he rode the same bike I suddenly realized that, IMHO, this guy was pulling no punches and his "take" was about as accurate as it comes.. Take it peek and see what you think..
