GORGEOUS!!! I LOVE IT RICH!!!! GLOCK MAGS? Hey ya bunch of lop eared varmints,, take a gander at the sticker on Riches shooters box,, see anything strange about it?? Like why does it warn about cancer and reproductive issues and not lead poisoning you could get if you were a bad guy and you ran head long into one of the bullets coming out of that sweetheart

INDEED SKY!! That is great news! Prayers up for your Sister!!

Yep,, you nailed it Rich!! Stainless take down, wayyy cool little shooter. I am not much for safe queens either.. If I cant shoot em and feel good about it I dont have em (well,, within reason,, I do have a few relics around - guns of syntiment if you will).. I am in the process of wrapping up my bucket listing - in search of and building funds for a 67 Big Block Vette so I did off my AR's and ammo of such to assist with the funds BUT I also ran into a fly in the oinment with those AR's I had installed Binary's in and had Drum feed for cause the ammo I was shooting in them (tracers,, lots of tracers and the like) went from 27 cents for my 308 and 18 cents a round for my 556 to $1.30 a round for my 308 and 85 cents each for my 556.. And no way on Gods green earth I could even shoot up the thousands of rounds I had built up knowing the value of the ammo - I am wayyyy to cheap for that nonsense. Fortunately I had grabbed a few thousand rounds for my .22's at 3 cents a round so now, even at current 15 cents a round prices on .22lr I can still feel ok about going out and making the back waters of the river dance with my 10/22. I am in the process of souping it up now. The stock you see on it is very nice,, an AR style. I do have a folding stock coming for it as well as a Binary Trigger (wayyy cool Franklin Armory started making Binary for them!!) and a GSG Drum 110 round drum for it.. I lived my life shooting for accuracy (use to shoot/reload/drink with with the real deal WW2 guys on the range at the gun clubs,, wayyy good memories) and of course hunted deer, bear, pheasant, grouse and LOTS of rabbits with hounds so accuracy was the name of the game.. These days are more about being as close to FULL AUTO as I can while staying legal. Tell you what brother,, if I was wealthy this old boy would own a Tommy, an MG42 belt fed, a BAR and zillions of rounds of ammo for regular everyday fun BUT,, theres that money issue again .. That Kel-Tec sounds like FUN!! Would LOVE to see some pics!! Maybe even a video or two of it in action!! One thing I am discovering about the 10/22,, talk about after market stuff - WOWZY!! Sounds like that Kel-Tec 9mm may fall into that category? Shooter yakking is almost as much fun as scoot jabber! Happy New Year!! The neighborhood here is coming alive with people outside blasting away! Think I will grab something and go at it with them!! Puc

and you know it came right from m heart to yours Squid!!!

@Sylvester,, I know you will enjoy this but thought best to start a new thread to show this off!! Getting rid of my shooters and associated ammo to increase my Vette fun substantially (WOWZY,, are guns/ammo sales HOT) worked great! Only problem with selling those shooters that I refused to shoot ammo out of that costs in excess of a dollar a round left a hollow spot in my love for shooting soooooo,,, I had to take a little of the xtra cash I aquired for my Vette fund and scratch that itch. She's a dandy!!

ME!!!! We are both frugal enough that we are gonna get an XXL one that both of us can fit in!!!

Personally I trust very few with advice concerning Covid, mask wearing proficiency or even the data we are being supplied.. There is just wayyyy to much opinionizing for Polical purposes for me to do so. I also absolutely refuse to run and hide in fear over the endless banter we find ourselves bogged down in,, aint gonna happen.. I do however have a few people in my life that I do trust and, my daughter - being neck deep in Covid research is one of them. I recently had a chance to chat with her and a couple of her colleges who are also involved with Covid research from all perspectives during a recent trip to the west coast. Here is a brief summary of what I learned: 1. All the people who are putting any form of faith in masks BELOW the grade of N95 mounted properly on a clean shaven face are betting on a fools errand at best. The fact is the virus attaches itself to microscopic moisture molecules in the air (this is how the virus travels thru the air) that are so small that any form of mask less than an N95 cannot stop the spread.. If you are able to breath thru anything less than N95 masks and you are contaminated - YOU ARE A SPREADER! If you are the type that chooses to live in fear for either yourself or others,, you best be paying attention to this. 2. The 6 foot rule is nonsense. Being a life long deer hunter and knowing how easily and far "scent" travels,, I asked this question and got an amazing answer: I told of a recent experience I had while Tippy and I were doing our daily 2 mile walk in the State Park near our home. During that walk (which we choose not mask up for), another couple was 2 or 3 hundred feet upwind of us and I could smell the womens perfume even at that distance. I asked the professionals whom I choose to trust if there was anyway that the China Virus could travel that distance on those molecules and still be alive and dangerous.. The answer = ABSOLUTELY!! I made comment about if this were the case, how come 95% of us are not contaminated already and got this answer = WHAT MAKES YOU THINK WE ARE NOT = many many millions of people have the anti bodies and do not even know it. 3. All the front line healthcare workers I spoke with have been vaccinated, they trust/have faith in their fellow scientist.. All of them, including my daughter, are all still alive and still hard at work in research over the subject matter. It appears, and lets all pray this is the case, that once again AMERICAN capitalism (you really dont think those big companies went to all that work for nothing do you?) ingenuity has come thru for the world! 4. WASH YOUR HANDS!! ALOT!! When talking about masks I was told that "surgery room containment style" was the best protection aside from gearing up in a hazmat suit (I actually pictured myself and Tippy dressing up in a Hazmat Suits and riding out to Sturgis next year when that was mentioned,,, they looked at me with evil eyes when I started laughing over that picture flying thru my mind LOL). I was also reminded to think about all the times I had seen Doctors scrubbing up for surgery and then walking around with wet hands pointed skyward to air dry. That type of hand washing is recommended for those who really fear this stuff.. Others of us, regular hand sanitizing works good.. 5. PRAY!! God is still in the answering prayer business!! Thats my story and I'm sticking to it!! Puc By the way,, did you know that drunk driving still kills more people annually than Covid? How come we are not at war with booze? I asked that and WOWZY did I get the stare!! You a drinker? Might be Covid is the least of your worries.. THINK ABOUT IT!

Awe,, thanks Sky!! Nice to be home and back onboard too!! Missed ya brother!! Now there is that little feller!!! I REALLY missed him!! Dont get all giddy on me Fool,, I was talking about the little painter man LOL.. You on the other hand,,,, after looking at what you have following us home on the weather radar?? Lets just say with friends like Fool,, who needs The kids tried that numerous times back when we were still bikin (for some reason they dont worry as much about us now that we are touring in Trooper) and never faired to well Corporal Newkirk.. Something about our ability to turn right when normal people would turn left causing the probability of a search party locating us.. THANKS for the welcome home greetings though!!

Dont gotta worry about me buying it out from under you brother,, my bike buying days are wayyyyyy gone. Cancer kicked me to the curb. Now if it were a 1967 C2 Big Block roadster Vette,,, well,, that may be a different story LOL.. Nahh,, I wouldnt do that either... Where you at out there Circ? There are numerous club members in that area,, well,, within the State of California, that may be able to take a peek. Lots of them far more knowledgable than I. Thanks for the invite though, if nothing more than to meet another club member and get a peek at such a pretty scoot!!

WOWZY WOW WOW WOW AND A DOUBLE WOWZY WOW WOW WOW,, THAT IS GORGEOUS!!! Hey Circ, a quick National search thru Craigslist shows that in Vacaville? If that is true,, I just drove right past it getting home from the kids LOL.. We got Birthdays coming up in January,, if I have time and you would like me too, once back out there I would be glad to take a peek for you. Been a longgggggggggggg time since my unskilled/untrained/amature eye seen one that clean. Noticing some things about it, I have a gut feeling you are looking at the real deal!! Couple of things,, and this is just from my little bit of experience with the breed and because you asked,,, I would not be concerned with the frame UNLESS you see rusting in areas as a result of powerwashing. Your climate, assuming I am talking about a California bike, is just not conducive to such. The tranny issue that @Condor mentions though,, yeahh,, Jack nailed it.. Like it or not,, all 83/84 and even some 85's WILL loose 2nd gear. There was never a recall on 2nd as far as I know,, but what do I know LOL. I do know that, from my perspective,, I wouldnt care.. Quite frankly,, that breed did not need a 2nd gear.. Other concerns would be it probably has not had the updated Stator or Water Pump.. Those are both a must do. Also, concerning things that go bad just from sitting.. You WILL need to upgrade to Progressive fork springs IMHO.. I have personally seen those Ink Pen springs Mom Yam put in there OEM sack out just from sitting,, I know,, sounds nuts and it probably is just my luck but just being honest. Lots of other stuff,, brake caliper pistons to clean up, fluids to swap and on and on.. Another thing that comes to mind from my restoration days,, you will want to get a chance to start it when it has sat for a couple days and listen carefully to the camshaft/top end right at start up. I have experienced several times Cams smudging in their journals due to not being pre-lubed after sitting for years and then being started up dry. Oh man,, I could write an essay on this,, I wont bore you.. Anyway,, WOWZY WOW WOW WOW,, that is purdy...

Just got in from a SUPER CELEBRATION with the kids!! What did miss? Hey @videoarizona,,, THANK YOU for the Christmas Card I found in the mail today! Tippy loved and so did I!! By the way,, absolutely NO PROBLEMBO with repurposing old business Christmas Cards,, IMHO - it was my favorite card so far LOL.. Glad to hear the foot is better @Flyinfool,, now stay off and follow doctors orders!! Nice to be back! Puc

I need to change out my bad Stator
cowpuc replied to ragtop69gs's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yeah,, I would definitely not focus the heat from a torch of any sort on directly on the aluminum if it were mine.. Aluminum is funny stuff as it likes to go fluid instantly at very low temps IMHO. Instead, I would either use Corporal Newkirks approach or, if you did not have the room to weld it because of the lip of the oil splash tin being supported by that screw and/or a mig gun to work with I would probably try a hand held impact.. I would take a dremel tool or even a hacksaw blade and cut a flat blade screw driver slot to fit the screw driver bit for my hand held impact. Then I would take my oxy/ace torch, swap on a small brazing tip, get a nice cone flame on er, carefully heat the head of the screw in the center till I just started seeing cherry. Remove the flame, watch the screw lose cherry and insert the hand held bit.. I would start with light/sharp tapping on the screw while I held a good lefty loosy on the impact as it probably would not take much to back it out from there. I would also try tightening in back up some if it is backed out a few turns if it was stubborn. Sometimes running it back in a little will help loosen the threads. I cant help but wonder if somone might have used Red locktight on a rebuild.. I have used Blue in that very spot for many many years and never really had an issue as long as I used my handheld impact to snap em loose when doing another swap. -
Mecum Auctions? Any of you lop eared varmints ever dealt with em?
cowpuc replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
I actually signed up and attended that auction online Spence and definitely missed those "under 20k" Vettes like you mention. I did see numerous C3's and others that may have fallen into that category (I have a short attention span for things I have no interest in when focusing on what I am interested in during the auction action). Out of curiousity, did the ones you saw look like this?: -

LOL,,, how easily I forget LOL.. That was indeed HILARIOUS!! I got sooooooo wrap up in the shear beauty of that gorgeous Blue 3 dueces sweetheart that my eyes completely missed the fact that it was an AUTOMATIC!! Fool's sharp eye caught it instantly and, thankfully brought it to my attention,, thank you jeffery,, you are NO fool lol.. I guess I will have to digress and come over, wake you up in from your surgery slumber and haul your frost bitten back side down to Houston to make sure that if I do go spastic over a car and nod my head at the wrong time I dont end up with an automatic LOL.. And yes,, if we are going to that extent,, you can drive it to Squids cause that aint a WWW chance in Hades my Vette is gonna be exposed to WWW salt covered roads!! I wonder if U-Haul rents a covered trailer that a Vette would fit in.. Hmmmmm -

What in the wild world of "ohhh my gosh it is cold up here Lonna, must be nearer to Fool's Wisconsin White Washer" :)))! Gotta be careful making those northern moves Squid!! Thanks my Texas Hero,, bailing Tip and I out is getting to be a way of life down there LOL! The offer is greatly appreciated! I would have to zip tie the clutch and throttle to your freshly glued back together foot to leg joints Fool,,, its a 4 speed (my pea brain just refuses to even put the words "Vette" and "automatic" in the same sentence)!! Aint no way I could come get you out of surgery to drive a clutched hot rod back home - even a Vette!! Besides, the club is gonna need you in full recouperation from your surgery down time come spring of next year - there is no one here that knows how to shut that blasted WWW off and you know how rambuncious this lop eared bunch of VR varmints gets if your WWW runs over time.. NOT A GOOD PLAN!! -

cowpuc replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Thanks again gentlemen for the input! Greatly appreciated! @Condor, I totally get your drift on the registration to bid process with Mecum - it is intimidating to say the least. Did you get to the point where you had to put down 5 grand? That caused me pause because of all the scamming these days. I did do a bunch of digging though and found out that Mecum does have a pretty high level of security on that deposit and seem to be fairly trust worthiness in either applying the escrow toward the purchase, rolling it forward to another auction or refunding it after auction - your choice. Actually, my current hang up at this time is the absolutely NO WAY I got from Mecum concerning actually test driving the car(s) once they are consigned to auction. I spent a lot of time in researching this (since last winter) because they do seem to run a fair amount of my bucket list car(s) thru and have yet to figure out a way to get around this as it looks like I would have to locate the owner of the car before he consigns and I have yet to find a way to do that, my ESP powers are depleted I guess. Point being, even though it is a Bucket List item in my case and not something i plan to buy/sell or run on a track, I still look at it as a used car with alllll of those bearing surfaces and maintenance history in question. I mean seriously,, we bought Trooper brand new from the local Hyundai dealership and I wouldnt even lay the cash down for him without a test drive, crazy eh. I know, I know,,, I can hear some varmints saying PUC - YOU GOTTA TRUST SOMEONE SOMETIME! Fact is, if I am gonna lay out 100 grand on my dream car, I am gonna make sure and use all I know to keep Murphy and his scamming cronies from turning my end of my bucket list days, dream come true 1967, 427 tri-power, 4 speed roadster with side pipes Vette into a dead end street nightmare. @Gary N., I have actually contacted an appraiser on another prospect car (it fell thru before the appraiser got a chance to look at it - car ended up being a total scam on its VIN check) and can appreciate your input! It would be worth it to me though, now that you mention that Mecum does allow for this to happen, to find out how that works and see if I could schedule myself in under their appraiser rule and do my own appraising - it might be reaching a bit but I will check into that!! Another "reach" I have gotta make too is the transporting of it. The folks I have spoken to at Mecum have informed me that I can not just take my purchased car, with title (even after paying CASH for it - which I plan to do to lower my auction fee by 2% - paying 10% instead of 12% is big bucks) and drive it home, or trailer it for that matter, without paying both Michigan tax and the state tax the car is in when I make the purchase. According to them, Mecum, I MUST have a hired transporter (of course, they want me to use the transporter service with "MECUM" written on the truck) remove the car from the State where it is purchased to avoid paying double taxes. I am at this time trying to find out whether or not I could hire a "drive off" CDL licensed driver to write Mecum a Bill Of Lading and transport to the state line for me where I would slap my plates on it and head for home. I am working/looking at the Houston Texas auction coming up in December (hey @Squidley, seems like we went down thru Houston on the way to Austin/Big Bend after leaving your house - how far from Houston are you? Chance I could leave a beat up old Vette in your yard under a blanket for a couple months?) as there are actually a couple cars there that perk my interest. As it stands right now I am a gold member ($500 up front fee that gives me and a guest access to 1 year of Auction fun - wayyyyy better than $200 per auction per person!!) so this could get interesting. I have yet to do much leg work on Barrett Jackson Jack but now that you mention them I will be doing so! On a side note, a really close friend of mine that I use to race dirt bikes with years ago was recently telling me about a classic car dealership in Grand Rapids that he knows about. He said he use to hang out with the guy that owns the place - they use to belong to the "Furring Group" together (I guess that is some kind of a rally car group of racers?). He is gonna hook up with the guy and see what he has/knows of.. Be wayyyy cool if my bucket list Vette was sitting in some neighbors garage just waiting for me to find it LOL.. Interesting times these bucket list days are!! Puc
