  1. Sitting here thumbing thru the club's code book,,,, look's like by April 20th (1 week rule) we should be seeing 's and reviews about that new Indian than correct?? Personally I LOVE the that color!! Cant wait to see and hear all about it!!

You know the ones,, the little ones with the guy in the stripes getting let out of ? Seriously though,,Prayers Up that all works out that the Lord decides to use you in that capacity Skidder - He surely has got to know that our court systems need all the high caliber people like yourself to serve the public in those area's that it can get!!
  3. Finally getting back to my P.C. where I could respond to this thread @VanRiver !! OUTSTANDING find there Riv and WOWZY WOW WOW WOW = talk about an amazing job in video production!! Of course,, being of the same kind of mind that you are (always and asking myself = can I build for cheaper than I can buy it and, if so,, can I build it to be more specific to my need) and after watching the tail end of the vid - I am now wondering what your thoughts are on copy catting that device with a similar design only maybe taller so the rotor wouldn't have to be removed?? WOWZY is that slick,,, if I am alive and still riding after shoveling my way thru the White Wash that Fool has planned for me,, I may just have to grab one of those things!! THANK YOU AMIGO!!!
  4. Not that exact job but I have built a number of Chops and other custom scoots thru the years that have required alterations of brake/clutch lines and know that others around here have too.. You march right in there,, give all those youngens and your bride a great big cool damp wash cloth on the forehead (was gonna say HUG but thought that cool damp wash cloth would be much much better) and telling ol Grampaw Puc and Grandmaw Tippy is praying for EVERYONE there at Tamale Heaven (maybe skip the Tamale Heaven part - those little tummies may be a bit queezy with that flu bug - just let em know we are praying for each of em PLEASE!!! Also for you Ready that somehow, someway you are able to weasel out of this round!! P.S. = please tell that Bride of yours that not very soon after we had our 4th child we went thru a similar round of Flu (real real nasty stuff) and I remember it vividly.. After it was all over with and I had fought the good fight = was the only one who didnt come down with it, I looked at my wife and told her that if I would have known what was coming I would have had it written in our wedding vows that the part where it said "thru sickness and health" would have been written to read "only the husband and the kids are allowed to get sick" ... another P.S. = good grief I miss having those little ones coming in and snuggling when going thru stuff like that - LOVE EM UP BIG TIME NOW BROTHER CAUSE TOMORROW IT WILL BE = CAR KEYS/COLLEGE AND GRANDKIDS PUKING ON YA WHEN YOUR TRYING TO SLEEP!!!

Here in Michigan we went thru a longggg period of some sort of animosity between Political offices,, a genuine power struggle as it were and the little guy (the guy who bought deer licenses and went hunting) suffered mostly thru it. Unfortunately, our Department of Natural Resources or "DNR" were some of the worst of the worst when it came to using abusive police action in applying law. We had a TV show way back then that was called Michigan Out Doors (not associated with Michigan Out of Doors currently being broadcast) and was hosted by a fellow by the name of Fred Trost.. Fred fought long and hard for the Michigan sportsmen and was a VERY avid outdoorsman in his own right. A HUGE issue came about in the fight for our 2nd amendment rights were being battled out and the courts decided in favor of the little guy. The DNR fought this decision by finding a loop hole in the new law that simply stated = anyone with a Misdemeanor offence can not carry.. Our Michigan DNR started the process of writing wrongful violations on everything from boating stuff (little things like writing a ticket to a boater in a river for not having equiptment declared as essential for use on Lake Michigan because the river was connected to Lake Michigan.. If a person received one of the "jokes" and fought it in court, the court would generally throw it out BUT = most folks never bothered taking a day off work to go to court and fight the ticket = just sent in a few bucks with the ticket and paid it = never much money (maybe 40 bucks) so no problembo. Problem was, as it turned out and as Fred Trost exposed. The big issue that Fred exposed was that the folks who did (and it was well into the 90% of people who received these DNR tickets) pay the tickets were, unknowlingly, surrendering their 2nd amendment rights We did finally get rid of the socialist Governor who resided over our state during that period but this was extremely difficult and, in the process of doing so, the DNR was able to get Michigan Out Doors shut down = a very sad moment in time for us Michigan outdoorsmen. Before socialism got a foot hold with that lady here in Michigan and things started going downhill, the DNR played more of a "managing the land for the people who rightfully own it" roll and hunting/fishing and out doors things were extremely lucrative and very wide spread. A lot of people dont know this (few old timers from Michigan may remember this) but our Gun Deer Season here back before those days was akin to a National Holiday for us.. So was Pheasant Season and Duck Season = HUGE HUGE business!! The "State and Federal Lands" that rightfully belong to the people (and are slowly being reestablished as such) back in those days were swamped with "Deer Camps" starting November 15th each year and Dads would drag their off spring "Up North" to romp around in the woods THEY owned in pursuit of the Mighty White Tailed Deer.. Many many many excellent stories are still told by lots of us old timers relating back to the day and age before darkness came over our lands.. Sorry this got long Snype but I wanted to answer your question.. Hope it does..
  7. WOWZY DanL', another extremely difficult situation to say the least.. Just want you and your family to know that it will be Prayers Up here for you and yours. I know when ever I have faced lifes hardships and curve balls it seems like things did not start looking up until I humbled myself by "looking up" and then put the word out asking for prayers, which is exactly what you have done here.   8. I loved getting to be part of those days long gone by too!! I used to "tune" my Macher to each tank of fuel and each particular day of drag racing the other boys by tweeking my distributor just to the point of spark knock and then backing it off just slightly to get the ultimate performance out of it.. Always carried one of the bent distributor wrenches down in that little pocket next to the body stiffner across the shock towers just for the occasion.. The sources for performance parts back in the day were also amazing.. Kmart use to sell headers, heads, cams, Mickey Thompson valve covers, Holley 4 barrels and on and on.. Bought a brand new set of Craiger SS's from them for 35 bucks a wheel and the rears were 10 inchers = had em in stock!! All the normal, everyday stores had packages of points/condensers hanging on the shelves. Also, around here, the build shops were rampant.. We had full time 3 blue printers.. Also, having a crank ground or valve's resurfaced was an everyday - back yard mechanics operation.. My oh my,, how times have changed.....

  10. Now another point of interest IMHO.. Did anyone also notice that the rider of bike 2 actually demonstrates some pretty interesting slow riding skills.. I noticed that, in his entire movement thru the acute angle that Vaz is referring to, he never did drop his foot down = this is indicitive of someone who has aquired some form of slow riding skills as all of know = dropping a foot during any form of move like this is a no no unless you are coming to a complete stop AND, also notice no brake light = also indicating he had no intent on stopping on the roadway.. I use to do accident investigation for a food warehousing operation here in Muskegon.. It was only one of my many "hats" as Manager of Maintenance Services and, thankfully, we didnt have that many accidents in our truck fleet that I had to deal with but when we did - I LOVED taking the pics, drawing the diagrams and trying to figure out exactly what happened - strictly 100% non LEO and in house reporting for the firm but, non the less, still very interesting all in the interest of training drivers to survive out on the highways.. If this accident were something I would have been investigating back then one of the things I would be looking at from viewing this little vid is the line of site from the centerline of the rider 2's face shield to the external shoulder of the road he rode off from. I would look at things like whether or not he had leather pouches along the joint where his windshield meets the fairing and asking whether or not his field of vision may of somehow been blocked by such a thing = preventing him from being able to see where he was going.. Stuff like this dont mean a whole lot to most folks cause apparently no one was severly injured in this slow motion spill BUT - IMHO, that outcome was very very fortunate.. The rider (and especially the passenger) of the second scoot were actually playing with death because the crushing blow of 1000 pounds of motorcycle landing on a person(s) can take a life very easily.. Good reason for reviewing and learning from this stuff IMHO..

Those quarter panels and backstraps went right into ice water so you can keep your confounded nast,, you dont have to worry about firing up the White Washer Totally agree with ya on the tenderloins brother!! Normal course of events in deer camp is evening of the kill = fresh campfire tenderloins = . Problem with being a highly skilled road kill expert is that I long ago gave up on the normal "field dressing" of road kill = experience has taught me that getting hit by a car usually has the same affect as gut shootin em only at a much higher level = think a 240 grain XTP 44 mag hollowpoint has icky time impact on the gut cavity if ya hit one there? Try a 4200 pound full metal jacket Chevy round nose on for size .. My road kill tastes have developed to the point that if there is even a hint of gut juice having touched anything I am knawing on I simply dont want it.. Interesting that you brought it up though cause Tip actually asked me about those tenderloins when I was pulling the backstraps. One simple slice a little beyond the cavity the back straps lay in (after I had the straps out) quickly revealed to her what I am talking about = had her running for the garage and me gaggin some and this was a very very fresh kill!! Nope,, no tenderloins or heart or,, another of my VERY favorites = liver and onions on this one!!! Just talking about this and thinking of all that fun "head shooting" em when feeding the family on em years ago sure brings back some GREAT eating memories though!!! I almost turned this one down because the people who hit it had to file a police report on the incident (to get the insurance company to pay for damages) and I usually dont like to go that route. Long story but, in the past, as soon as the Police are involved the DNR is called in which - in old days - presented itself with a whole new can of worms that became more involved than the road kill was worth.. Knowing that, I almost turned this one down BUT - the thought of fresh venison (especially a young one) was just to powerful so away I went.. Turned out the Police Officer who covered this incident was wayyyyyy cool!! Definitely my kind of guy.. Bambi is laying on the bicycle trail right down in residential city about a mile from our house and is not quite ready for the ride on the meat trailer when the Officer pulled up behind me.. The Cop opens the door on his cruiser and the deer starts flopping around like he somehow knew what was coming. The Officer instinctively must of known I was the meat hauler cause he looked and me and asked if I needed him to shoot Bambi.. I shined my flashlight over at Bambi's Mom who was standing behind a neighbors house watching all the commotion and said "I really dont think she would appreciate that :hihi:" in my normal geezrly sarcasim.. The Cop laughed and retorted "I'll plug her for ya too if ya want me too :biker:" = definitely MY KIND OF GUY!! After a good hearted chuckle I asked the officer if, because I was not the one who had hit the deer, he would have to call in the DNR in order for me to take the deer.. He said NOPE = no way,,, had a book of Trick or Treating Deer possession permits right along with em = COOL!!!! Amazing how things have changed thru the years and, in a lot of ways = for the better!! That is unless you are a Whitetailed Deer out Trick or Treating on Halloween night in Puc's neighborhood:dancefool:
  12. I hear that Kretz but:big-grin-emoticon:, and not intentionally trying to come across like some kind of a , I dont buy into what's being sold here .. May as well pull a log up by the campfire, grab a hot dog cause,, you know me,, I gotta splain why I say that:Im not listening to.. As I mentioned when I posted that vid - I watched it over and over and could not, for the life of me understand the "why" when talking about that second bike and still hold that view. Reason? I actually thought about the whole "go where your looking" scenario too but, if ya go back and watch that vid in slow motion - it appears that the person steering the 2nd bike never took his eyes off the road in front of him = he did not turn his head and look at his friend who had gone down the hill so the idea that he was going where he was looking just dont fly.. Therefore, still makes no sense. IMHO, if looked at closely it almost looks like he intentially drove his bike off the road to park his bike and go back to help his friend but was blind as to what was beyond the shoulder. After debunking my own similar thought about turning his head and going that direction, I also thought about sun glare blinding his ability to see the road in front of him but even that proves negative because the vid appears to have been taken on a cloudy day. In the end, my theory is that what caused the 2nd bike to go down was that it was actually piloted by a very inexperienced rider whose lack of skill development may have been the actual cause for bike 1 to have gone down in the first place. Reason? It appears to me that bike 2 was crowding bike 1 in the corner by following to close and also dropping down the center of the lane they were riding in. I think when bike 2 dropped into the center to avoid the center line of the roadway, the guy on bike 1 caught bike 2's movement in his direction in his mirror and, for a split second, took his eyes off his "line" at a very crucial moment and ended up off the road (it's this very "split second" distraction stuff that old timers like me squawk about when talking about why these new touch screen things might not be healthy for a biker to have on his scoot). As I mentioned, it does not appear that rider 2 actually did turn and look at rider 1 as he was headed off into oblivion but he did drive around bike 1 as it was heading for the ditch, causing rider 2 to momentarily go out of his chosen "line" across the apex of the corner via the centerline of the road which completely distracted him and forced him into an area of riding technique that he had probably not encountered before and he simply had no idea how to overcome this new obstacle (riding perpendicular across an off camber corner). His discomfort and confusion with this new encounter was so strong that it even forced him to forget to push down or pull in on a brake lever (he easily could have stopped) = one of those instantanious responsive "habits" that you hear some old time bikers talking about developing before a person adventures onto a public roadway. In the end, I think the bottom line to this one may very well be as simple as rider 2 not having allowed enough space between him and the bike in front of him (rider 1) = a simple matter of tailgating? Or,, put another way,, attempting to ride side by side on twisties similar to The Tail of the Dragon is probably not a good idea

I have watched this one numerous times and I am still lost for words and understanding of why the second bike went down... Just makes no sense... Watch carefully starting at 1:17,, makes absolutely no sense..
  14. Very very nice ,s but,,, ,, something doesn't look just right here... I never was really much the Detective type but,, noticing that the varmint with the lighter colored dress shirt on has no sgadetti smears on his shirt and the other lop eared varmint has no sign of red sgadetti sauce remaining on his chin,,, I actually doubt sgadetti and meat balls were ever consumed by these two 1%ers... Knowing they were together and out on those gorgeous scoots of theirs during Halloween,, I would be more inclined to wonder if some parents in Arizona shouldn't be checking their childrens Trick or Treat bags for missing candy :big-grin-emoticon:

And,, here my best Porter Wagner voice singing verse 3 to "High way headed south somewhere to Dixie",, ahhh,,, hummm (clearing throat): When I cross the Dixie line I'll move next door to Dan,, and I'll sing at the top of my lungs every 5 a.m. ........ Absolutely no way could one EVER imagine you leaving that contraption behind Fool!!!! You have wayyyyyy to much work to do in restoring all those millions and millions of cubic feet of ice and snow we lost up their during that climate warm-up thingy.... Knowing Fool,, I highly suspect the passion and enjoyment he has and receives from White Washing his neighbors and friends has very little to do with monetary reward and very much to with pure , , , , , pleasure.. The reason I say this is a couple years ago I stopped by his White Washer shack while he was chasing White Tail Deer in upper Michigan to see if I could make some,, favorable adjustments.. When I walked into the shack and turned on the lights and when I did, I found out that he had wired a record player directly to the light switch and as soon as I flipped the switch, this song started playing = kinda gave me the willies...
  19. Never had the honor the working on an RSTD but, IMHO, makes no sense why Mom Yam would permanently attach those guards (if that is what you are referring to) over the carbs. Also,, a quick glance at the parts diagram reveals the frame does not have those welded on.. I would put my money on a raising of the tank would reveal those guards being held in place by bolts or screws.. Also, you mentioned that the previous owner did rejet for the mods? Normally this is an indicator that larger main jets were installed and, if this is the case, adjusting the pilots is not going to help much.. IMHO, most of the air/fuel mix as soon as you crack the throttle so the engine is no longer at idle, is controlled by the main jet and the metering rod = this is attached to the slide which is controlled by the diaphram on a CV carb. On most bikes that I have tortured thru the years, those metering rods are adjustable by moving an "E" clip up and down the metering rod.. On all my Ventures those typical "E" clipped metering rods were a horse of a different color = no "E" clips = so I ended up adjusting the metering rods (mid range air/fuel) by shimming them with plastic washers. Their is a carb guru here that sells a kit for doing just this = @skydoc_17, but I have no idea if your scoot is of this uncommon type of carb = maybe "The Doc" knows what your dealing with?. Looking at the carb in the parts diagram I looked it = it appears that your carbs may be the normal E clip type.. For this type of carb need on my Ventures I just go to ACE Hardware with my verniers and by the nylon washer assortment I want and tune my carbs accordinly.. Possible,, depending on how far oversize they went on the rejet, you could drop the needles by raising the e-clips up enough to lean er down adequatly.. Could also be possible that you will end up tearing the carbs out of it and rejetting back to stock.. Have you ever jetted a carb? Jets are sized and the sizes are stamped on the top of them = very easy to read what size your dealing with once you pull the bowls off the carbs.. Also, a simple phone call to a Yam Shop (or even looking on a parts diagram may tell you) should reveal what is stock jet sizes both mains and low speed (idle)..

  23. Some really good ,, ,,, material right there Bongo!! Using my 8 fingers, 2 thumbs and 10 toes to do some figuring here,, I think the system works both ways. Hit the starter button, battery discharges into the starter windings which spin the armature which spins the crank which pushes the pistons up and down to get her lit so, in that case,, the crank is powering the pistons.. Once its lit though,, all that boomin going on in that combustion chamber is forcing the pistons down on the power stroke and the pistons are spinning the crank to put power to the ground to make ya move.. All that said,, here is point when it could get interesting.. Say,, you get to the top of a big hill with your bike.. Start to coast down, drop er in gear and dump the clutch with the key off.. Nice steep hill,, like the +10 degree one coming down out of the Big Horns on 14A North east of Cody = you know the one,, the hill that took over 30 years for the road guys to complete (WOW IS GORGEOUS - BUT I DIGRESS). Your motor is SCREAMING at cha that she is wayyyy over revving.. Now,, IMHO,, partially because of what my platform is here in this debate,, the rods and pistons are in jeapordy of coming unglued because it dont make no difference how you obtain max speed on those piston's = thru the piston's driving the crank or the crank driving the pistons = over rev is over rev... Boom,,, clack, clack,clack, crunch,, skidderrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
