  1. BEAUTIFUL ORLIN!!!! Just flat out GORGEOUS!!! My winter projects went something like this:
  2. This BETTER not be another one of those Carl tricks Carl!! We may all end up in the penalty box if it is!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DON!!
  3. HIYA VAZ!!! Been a while,, hope all is well.. Rundown on restoring old bikes, at least from my past went something like this: 1. Never spin one up that has been setting unran for more then 5 years without prelubing the top end. By that I mean getting oil over valve train and spinning it up with a drill motor first.. I have seen wayyyy to much cam journal damage by not doing this. 2. Regardless of how things look exterior,, give the fuel tank a very close internal look for rust. Look closely at the roof of the tank with a mirror and pen light. 3. Check the fuel/air system/exhaust closely for mice damage including nest buildup in exhaust. 4. If she has CV carbs pull the slide diaphrams and look for cracks. Fingers are tired Love ya Me
  4. Menards sells 25' 2 inch plastic flexible drain pipe CHEAP!! Have used it for years as exhaust extension while working in our basement.. If you decide to go that route it is a really good idea to take some thin wall conduit and extend the ends of your pipes on the bike a couple feet to allow the exhaust to cool off before it gets to the plastic.
  5. LOL,,, @Flyinfool LOL...
  6. I have found a good, modern day touring jacket, like something our friend @VentureFar has written about for Ultimate, pretty much covers all the rain gear needs for those folks who require rain protection cause their region of riding does not offer warm summer rains that are actually a cooling off treat to the naked skin. I also like the multiple layering idea in prepping for cooler climates and always carried a few hooded sweatshirts in Tippy's clothing dept (trunk) roll up tightly and easily accessable. For sleeping quarters our 2 minute motel (tent) rolled up with 1" pad, sleeping bags laid out inside, and change of clothes for each (pillows) and then wrapped in a HF tarp to keep the rain out of our belongins worked awesome.. One really nice thing about tenting = NO TRAILER EVER, and ride till we were done (many +16 hour days of riding) and within a couple minutes we were sleeping,, behind a dumpster, under an abandoned gas station over hang, on the beaches of the Atlantic or Pacific coast, in a Cemetary, church parking lot, Walmart parking lot ect ect..
  7. adding to all the great advice above, a couple of my MK1's developed gas guzzling tendencies that took them wellll below their customary +40 mpg and I was only able to get them back on course by dropping the carb slide main jet needles down. The last time I had to it it took almost 1mm of shim before my mpg's returned. I have a hunch that over time the emulsion tubes will wear/oblong enough to allow excess fuel into the carb circuitry.. Dropping those needles cured it..
  8. I think Fool has the WWW on auto-pilot!!

  12. I am so deeply saddened to hear this news,, what a heartbreak.. Tip and I send our deepest condolences to Kev's family and friends, including the many many club members here who he loved so dearly and helped so much. He was one in a gazzillion of a true Venture guru that we all could count on to set things straight when needed. God Speed my brother! Puc and Tip Here is short video of Kev sharing well wishes to Yammer Dan after DanL' went down on his way to MD 2015. Missing you both!! Puc
  13. Cheryl and I are sooo sorry to read this Ronnie. PLEASE know you and your family are in our prayers during these days of such great loss. Rest in peace Mrs. Dawson, the world below is a much lesser place with your loss. Puc and Tip
  14. We came home to find @Flyinfool had been back to his normal abnormalities of torturing our area with about 6 inches of WWW but NOTHING like you folks got @Condor.. Cant imagine what tent city down by the American River looks like,, OUCH
  15. Oh man THAT was a GORGEOUS Vette too Steve.. Unfortunately it was a ways out of my budget. Back to the drawing board brother!
  16. My eyes may be playing tricks on me again Corporal Newkirk but it looks like you welded the socket for the ratchet to far away from the ratchet.. What if you need to put the socket on the ratchet so you can,,,,, ahhhhh never mind,,, I get it now,,, with the socket welded on you will never loose it... Makes sense now. Tweeks Maintenance Dept has a zillion parts and pieces in it,, all in a bag but still have an escapee once in a while.. I like what you got going on there,,, now if I can find my Mig welder and it still has gas left in it I think I may steal your idea!!!
  17. You and Linda have our prayers Randy!!!
  18. Oh heck yeah,, they are GORGEOUS my brother! Not absolutely 100% sure but I think Quickstep, Aussie Annies husband ended up with one that he has probably got a zillion miles on now.. Maybe see if you can track him down and pick his brain a bit. I know that the early 1800 wings had some issues with the alternator drive system but that was rectified wayyyy before Honda introduced the F6b so you would be safe there. Personally I really like em,, a bagger with a 6 cylinder water cooled, shaft drive set up - WOWZY WOW WOW WOW.. Our 2 local Honda shops had a rough time selling theirs and were offering some awesome left over deals on them, not really sure what ever happened to em.. You know me,, if you want me to keep an eye out for one just give a shout! If you have not ridden one yet maybe see if you can find one to try out before buying? Love ya'll Puc
  19. With all this running back and forth to play with Grandkids in California Tip, Trooper and I will keep an eye on this Orlin and maybe stop by to stir the pot on a trip out, or back.. Be GREAT to see everyone!!
