RLU BYPASS question
cowpuc replied to s.tyler58's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I know I got a backwards, upside down and inside out way of thinking about this kind of stuff and often make no sense but I will step out on the perverbial limb one more time and say,,, if it were mine, I would rather trim the pig tail off the device (RLU in this case) and do my jumpering on the bench with the pig tail and then plug the pig tail back into the terminal on the main harness then I would alter the main harness as shown in the pic... Of course,,,, you might wanna consider the source of this idea before you act on it Ty -
I dont know diddle squat about the 2nd Gen's like you are riding cause I never had the pleasure of owning one and have only ridden a "triked" version of one for about 1/2 mile but I do know one thing,,, it sounds like you and I are related
-
No ya lop eared misfiring, backfiring, doggy running motorcycle owning varmint - I am not talking about a Cap for your bean, I am talking about a Cap for your sparkplug(s)... Carbon Tracks can still happen!

Dont get me wrong in my comment here because I too think the technology is pretty cool too but,, I still get uneasy when thinking about someone on a scoot taking their eyes off the road to look down at a little TV screen.. I KNOW,, I am strange and dorky in a geezerly old school way about this stuff.. I mentioned the above point to the Mom Yam reps at Sturgis last year after being shown how this amazing sell point works and was told by them that todays younger riders are extremely familiar with the in's and out's of handling all the new techology like this even when on two wheels and that my point was really a minor issue but it still concerns me..

How to r & r the tires on 2nd gen?
cowpuc replied to VentureFar's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Awe,,, RIGHT BACK AT CHA MY BROTHER:thumbsup:!! IMHO Neil,, if your gonna start doing your own tires or finding needs now to be able to lift your scoot,, you really want to locate one of Larry's (Carbon One's) lift adapters.. I never used one but have seen pics and believe that his adapter attaches to your 2nd Gen where a center stand would attach and is very secure.. Once you put that adapter on, you slide your bike jack under it like you were sliding it directly under exposed frame rails so the adapter gives you a good, flat, level surface to lift on.. No matter how you decide to get the bike up in the air,, PLEASE be mindful that when you remove a wheel - the bike will want to rock upwardly at the end where you just removed the weight from... This happening when working off a centerstand can be VERY dangerous because the centerstand can fold up during the weight shift and the whole bike can come down on ya.. Make sure you lock the wheels on your jack to avoid even the remotest possibilty of the jack moving should this happen. The best thing you can do is once off the ground on the jack is to support both forward of the jack and reward of the jack (if you have the space) with jack stands just to be sure the bike cant rock forward or back.. A bike tie down from the rear of the bike to the trailer hitch on your car will work too BUT make sure you take the keys out of the car if you use this method so that precious bride of yours doesnt head in to town for grocerys and find herself being followed closely by your bike without you on it ... Concerning struggling with getting the tire beads to seal,,, personally I have found that letting the new tires lay in the sun for a while to get good and hot and then after I spoon em on, taking a bike tie down ratchet strap and go around the perimeter of the tire and ratchet it down real tight and bingo - no need for explosions that might burn your hair off or damage the cords in your tire (I do LOVE the BOOM too though ). Concerning tater guns - OH YEA!! They are AWESOME.. We once launched a tater with hairspray from hunk of 1 1/2 inch PVC that landed on a roof top a block away ... Sometimes I think its a miracle that your brother is still alive Neil.. By the way,,,, WOWZY WOW WOW WOW = on the gift of the new boots for the scoot my friend = THAT is !!!!!!!!!!!! Neil,, is "your new bestest friend" gonna let you do a reality check on the new Wing??? I would LOVE to hear about your take on it if he does!!!! YA DONT HAVE TO SAY IT = I BEAT CHA TO IT = I JUST SAID HI AND :bighug:TO TIPPY FOR YA!! Puc -

I TOTALLY get that brother,,, I was just wondering if there was some kind of time frame, delete period time, or something that we could be made aware of as members so if we wanted to we could make copies of posts before they were deleted? I have already started the process of doing my own archiving of ones like I posted as an example - just thinking better safe than sorry..
-
,, I am Chuck,, definitely,,, only I have been informed that during MD I have to be a diet and Fried Chicken is the only thing I can eat

We will set up camp with the Chicken Table uniquely and perfectly situated right between our tents!! :big-grin-emoticon::dancefool:

You guys meeting up for the ride over Jay?

Yea,,,,,, and also PLEASE remember "The Code" when dealing with Vaz or others like him,,, hold on,, got grab my book and see if I can find the secti,,, here it is, found it filed under Collateral Damage,, "always be sure of your target when tossing tomatoes at person(s) creating havoc - splattering innocent parties on bikes riding near the varmint is a code violation".. Ya just never know what kind of innocent, kind and gentle club member may be riding nearbye..

Don,,, gotta ask ya,,, are you seeing the new ones buzzin all over the place up there? I read somewhere that all but a couple of the Canadian allotment of the SVTC's are gone/sold up there so I am thinking you folks should be seeing a ton of them on the roads .. None have been sold here in our area yet and the only one spotted in West Michigan by myself or my biker neighbors was the dealer owned one parked at our local Spring Run rally point.. It will be really really interesting at the Sturgis rally this year.. I usually spend some time at the Yamaha dealership in Sturgis (quietness,,, calm, pure, simple momentary haven of rest peace is always a good thing to have available) during the rally,, meeting friends and all that fun stuff and cant wait to see how the battle between the big twins goes out there too..

Nope,, maybe go back and check the auction again,,,, it is clearly a no reserve auction with an opening bid of 24k U.S.. If a person bids on it and no one else does,, they actually do get to walk out the door with the bike for 24k (o.k., you win,, +16 bucks for title), maybe read the auction copy as it clearly explains this. Make it easy on ya here and let the seller's ad speak for itself , ALL THEIR WORDS - NOT MINE- here ya go: """WE ARE OFFERING A NO KIDDING DEAL ON THE THESE WITH LIMITED QUANTITIES. BIDDING STARTS AT $24000.00 AND THERE IS NO RESERVE. THERE IS ALSO NO, NONE, NADA FEES AND WE ARE PAYING THE ALABAMA TAXES FOR YOU. THE ONLY THING YOU PAY IS THE $16.50 ALABAMA TITLE FEE (IF YOU LIVE IN ALABAMA) AND NOTHING ELSE. READ AGAIN, NOTHING ADDED TO THE WINNING BID. """ Another interesting point in their auction is the comment = "we are offering THESE with limited quantities".. Any one else see that besides me or is it just on my computer?? If I were interested in a new Venture and reading this ad,,, I would call or email them as they suggested in the rest of the ad and see if they would just sell one outright for $23400 OTD, basically splitting their saved Ebay fee's with me:stirthepot:..

I knew it,,, I just knew it!!! This whole thread was a about CONdor running a scam to get a free club trip to Hawaii so he could sip fermented Coconut juice and watch the Hulu hoop girlies... I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Yeppers,,, those folks are selling with no add on charges like the costumary doc, shippin or prep fees and are even eating the taxes to get em rolling.. I gotta hunch that unlike Canada where it sounds like the new one is sold out, some spots here in the States are having a tough time clearing em out. Here on the west side of Michigan I have yet to see a new one on the road except for our local dealership had one parked at the rally point for our Spring Run last weekend trying to drum up interest. I think if a guy wants one and is willing to hold off, their going to be hard sells here like the Strats, Roadliners and Raiders were and by years end they will probably be doable for under 20..

At Don's as close to the Fried Chicken table as possible
-
Thanks Don,,, was just concerned that threads like this: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?15325-Warden-I-Love-You!!! may get tossed without the membership knowing it was being disgarded...
-
Well put as always Don,, thank you!! Along the same line, a while back I read a comment requesting that housekeeping/pruning be made here in the club's forums to old posts. As I recall,, some of us members spoke up about wanting to maintain the integrity of past posts for sentimental and archival useful purposes.. I still am not sure about whether or not past posts/threads are deleted on a regular basis, are they? If they are,, what is the criteria for the removal? The thought of seeing past posts deleted came up again with the loss of my friend Yammer Dan,, I would love to be able to read/reread Dan's post for many years to come (I know,,, I am a sentimental varmint). Personally, I think that post deletion should only happen, unless of course we are talking those posts that violate our clubs posting rules, with some form of knowledge by the membership (such as deletion by stated date expiration) so anyone who would like to make a personal copy of those posts before they are deleted can do so.. Can you or one of the mods make comment of where this post pruning thingy currently is at? Thanks Boss Puc

and here are VentureFar's thoughts on his long distance test ride of the Eluder... Also very straight forward and definitely a worthy read IMHO: https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2018/02/07/2018-yamaha-star-eluder-test-death-valley-bust/
