  1. Thanks brother,, I/we really appreciate the offer.. We should know more in the a.m. when we see how she is doing on the Antibiotics.. Will give you a heads up if we head your way Dave... Would LOVE to see you guys and check out that big body of water by you - isnt that Hudson Bay or something??
  2. This is the same dealership in Alabama (Allsport) that was offering em last week for an opening bid of 24k and, if you followed that auction you know they got no bids. It looks like this may end the same. If it does,, it will be interesting to see if they drop em another grand... https://www.ebay.com/itm/2018-Yamaha-VENTURE/202316210567?hash=item2f1afc6187:g:YWYAAOSwslda9JNC&vxp=mtr
  3. Not worth even a second look IMHO brother = your to valuble to us!! I just spooned on another set of Shinks on Tweeksis - thinking they were 115 bucks shipped to my door.. I am sure you have experienced riding down a flat on a touring bike as I have but I can tell you, out of the several times that it has happened = none of them were that much fun PLUS,, there actual instances where folks ran out of space during that mysterious dog tracking time that all bikes with flat tires roll thru when ya get down below 25 mph and they ended up badly injured from high siding or,,,, even worse... Not worth it Ben,,,, spoon on a new set and ride er till the cows come home!!
  4. The Dr. agreed with me that the sneaky little Tippy nippin Ticks tick parts looked like they were all intact (C pics to judge for yourself) so nothing left in my sweety causing her grief in that way.. He did seem concerned though that her fever and sinus infection type symptons came on right in the same time frame for Lymes incubation even though there was not the typical "Bulls Eye" in the bite zone.. Interestingly,, he told us about a fairly expensive drug that actually would cover both the sinus infection thing as well as a solid treatment for Lymes.. He and I looked over the list of other bugs this stuff kills and I couldnt help but notice things like Spotted Fever and Rocky Mountain Fever - lots of other nasty sounding things on there too.. Givin the option,, we went with that drug JUST IN CASE.. The Dr gave the for us to go explore the outer regions of Dogbreaths back yard if she feels ok with it,, he said NO contagious stuff there!! Tips doin the drugs now so we shall see come tomorrow!!! ,, wait,, that dont look right,,,, cant find a Dr. icon here,,, what da heck,, where's the Dr. icon,,,,, did our club turn female biased or something? O.K.,, I found something that'll work,,, a Male Nurse
  5. ,,, what,,,,, what,,, what happened ,,,, looks perfectly normal to me.... I will admit,,, I think I do recall Dave struggling with balancing on his head when we posed for the pic (I think struggling with the balancing thing like that is a Canuckian thing as a result of living closer to the North Poles magnetic field for many years) but still,,, I certainly see nothing wrong with that pic!! Good job Dave!!
  6. Hey Sly,, you ever do any night hunting for Coyote?? I used to shoot a bull barreled 22-250 Remington 700 and did a TON of varminting - a REAL riot!! I bumped into a couple other varminting varmints who were telling me about night hunting coyote.. Apparently you squeek em in with a wounded rabbit squeeker and they actually come in hunting YOU!! Michigan allows the varminter to use night vision scopes for this form of varmint control (at least they used to,, not sure if that has changed since 9-11) and the guys I was talking to out in the field said doing it was UNBELIEVABLE and a major riot... Never got that deep into it all with all the reloading and range shooting (dynamite shoots) but WOW did that sound like fun.. You ever done it?
  7. :sign yeah that::sign Rock On::sign Rock On::sign Rock On::sign Rock On: IMHO, this is serious stuff,,, the life you save may be your own or someone you love... DO IT and DO IT frequently!!
  8. Personally I would still go with the original thoughts... Of course,, I also actually like Venison more than I do tomatoes too so theres that plus I like getting a drop on those wiley white tail too so thats that too... Matter of fact,,, after reading this,, I may try to grow a couple mater plants to lure me in one of those Bambi's,,, Wish I was closer Ready,, I'd buzz over and help ya put up the fence brother!!!

In that 2nd Gen's dream maybe,,,,, matter of fact,,,, I cant understand how/why any 2nd or 3rd Genner on the planet wouldnt be jumping at the chance to toss a couple bucks into the clubs SAF fund,,,,, given the fact that they are the ones who will always be last in line at any rally doings,, in my way of thinkin - seems like they would wanna make sure there was ample food and/or raffle prizes for those who are a slower gettin there (pretty sneaky eh Jack?)
  10. Nahhhh,, definitely an amature IMHO there Tooch,,,,, anyone with any experience at proper packin on a scoot KNOWS you can't use those plastic shoppin bags externally like that,,,, they will fill with air, come loose and smack the varmint riding behind ya right in the face = definitely a NO CLASS situation!! Good try though my brother,,, I give ya a B+ for effort ya WEENEEEEEE:rasberry: Was actually thinking of possibly hittin up Dogbreaths campground but Tips come down with some kind of bug here (thinkin sinus infection), got a little fever and we are headed into the doc in a couple hours to get her some Penicillin.. We may still shoot over if the drugs do their thing quickly but I gotta be careful cause we have many many great plans for next weeks MD adventure that we dont wanna give Murph an open door to ruining.... Tip also got bit by a Tick while out walking/treasure hunting with our metal detectors a few days ago and we are this fever/not feeling well thing hasn't got something to do with that (like Lymes). I got the little nippin Tick stuck to some tape to show to the Dr when I take her in.. Her bite site looks good so I really think its just a sinus infection thing.. Will know soon (Appointments at noon).. Heard your not hitting up Don's this year bro? RATS!!!!!! Gonna miss with ya!!! Will wear my GORGEOUS Dispatch shirt in your honor Tooch!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Will you PLEASE stop using that confounded four letter word Fool,,,,,,,, this is a family site (MOTORCYCLE family) for cryin out loud... It's over,,, just let it go Fool,,, let it gooo

You guys gotta stop messin around like this,,, people who read these threads aren't dork wads,,, they know exactly what you two are up to,,,,, as in,,, you just keep commenting here to keep bringing this thread to the forefront in the Watering Hole in an effort to get more clubbers to contribute to a cause that someday, even they may find themselves taking advantage of/needing in some way.... Personally I wouldn't play those sneaky games like Condor or Roller cause I got manners:big-grin-emoticon:
  13. I know I am a total odd ball but in my case,,, I really dont know how I would make it without Tip.. Even in my own little cross country adventures out CTFW, her very presence adds a demention and flavor to the fun/excitement that I am, and have been, hooked on for life.. I actually did my fair share of 1 up touring (still do occasionally) back before Tip became my wife and seriously,, in a very strange (there's another word describing my character = strange) but real way - I found doing so boring.. In another thread, Freebird made a snide, lippy, smarty pants comment that he was gonna ask Tip one simple question when he see's her at MD this year and that question = "why"... I actually think,, at least in my case,,, Freebirds comment is more accurate concerning our (Tip n Pucs) husband/wife's story than yours is Ty,,, but again,, I know I am an odd ball so ya gotta consider that brother
  14. I hear ya Chief but its the only video I got for comparing the two and I got no SVTC to redo it.. GOT AN IDEA!! Tell ya what,, since you are the one who keeps reminding me of this and you do have an SVTC to work with,, why not go ahead and hook up a camera aimed at your speedo on your scoot, stick er in Sport Mode and run her thru the gears shifting at the proper points to prove what your saying.. I will do the same with my 83 and then we can post em up and compare them - this would actually be fairly accurate because we would not only have the speedo's showing MPH but we would also be timed... I am sure you are 100% right about what you are saying because the SVTC is 1900cc and the little V-4 is only 1200cc but it would still be interesting to see/know for a fact/scientifically what would have happened if I had of had the SVTC in Sport Mode
  15. I was just outside about 2 hours ago flying my little helicopter around the front yard when, out of nowhere,, that great big naughty tree in the middle of our front yard reached out and snatched up my little Helicopter.. There sat my precious little flyer, about 30 feet up, lights still on but not enough power on the rotors to free itself as I throttled up on the transmitter,,, lousy rotten tree = pick on someone your own size!! Walked into my garage, grabbed a pellet gun and shot a good half dozen rounds at the skinny little branch that held my Copter hostage to no avail,, just not enough umphh.. I went back inside,,, grabbed my little 410 single shot, slipped a #6 shot in its little chamber and headed outside to rescue my chopper.. I looked up and down the neighborhood,, making sure that no one was watching,, I held the shooter along my leg in careful camo as I sought the perfect angle to insure that when the lead shot returned to earth after being launched it would not land on someone, or someones vehicle. After finding the perfect spot where the shot would land in the woods to the west of us , I located that skinny little branch and picked a 1/4 inch spot on the branch where a teeny little branch was sprouting from the larger branch that held my Helicopter.. Perfect!! The spot was about 14 inches from my chopper so I was pretty sure it would not be hit.. One more headcheck of the neighborhood and BANG!!! My little Helicopter hit the ground just about the time I nonchalantly stepped back into the garage,,,,, an unnoticed tree branch assassin with PERFECT stealth!!! Mission accomplished with only one tiny #6 shot hole thru a rotor!!! Ready,, if your reading this little true story I want to add one thing,,, 3 inch slugs are still available for my little shooter and it is even more accurate with slugs than it is with bird shot and I do loan it out Also,, as you well know,, them Bambi's make EXCELLENT Tamale fixens, talk about win win!!
  16. Thanks brother,, I/we REALLY appreciate the offer!! At this time it appears that Vaz will be coming in sometime earlier in the week (Monday/Tuesday) so we can go explore those awesome roads in the upper regions our fine State.. Plan is to, like a couple of kids,, tote our tents and hit the State Land camping and/or behind dumpster camping (ooppss,, failed to mention that part of our planned expedition to Vaz ) from here to Sault St. Marie and back.. That said,, Lord only knows if/when or even how we will get to getting to Dons BUT we are planning on it.. I know,, like you and a few other Michigan lop eared varmints, I gotta be watching my back cause I done been there once (I actually got a P.M. from another one of my favorite Michigan brothers who has been there/done that and he said it best in his P.M. by saying "leave for Don's on Vacation and come home on Probation ) and, like you, folks have those preconcieved ideas of us but neither Tip nor Vaz have been there so it really is VERY important to us to make it so folks can make their own call on those two .. Meeting up Friday,,,, is a noon meet up to late in the day for you bro? I know it's 3 hours across state to your place so if we could get out of here by 9 (I would say earlier but WOWZY,, my poor old body cant handle the cold) we could see noon at The Motor City?? Also Jay,,, if any thing changes and we decide to go ahead and shoot over for a night in your campground,, what is the latest in the week that I can give ya a heads up without fear of Jeannie poking her Smith n Wesson .44 mag out the back door at us? Gonna be fun,,, looking forward to hanging out with ya again brother!! Puc Oh, by the way,,,, goes without saying,,, got lots of room over here for you and those other east siders to shoot over and ride upstate with us next week if any of ya's are interested... Puc
  17. Actually Harley Davidson, by the definition explained above,, has not been pure air cooled for many many years.. They, HD, have used oil cooling by getting the oil out of the engine cases and exposed to air movement over the hot oil to cool it since way back at the beginning.. I have had many models of Harleys and can assure you guys that this is true.. Case in point, one of my most recent old Harleys, a 1942 WLA (I named her Olivia) that served in WW2 came to me from the original owners family who's Patriarch served in the European theater and owned Olivia from the time she returned to the States after her tour of duty until I purchased her and I can assure the readers here that what I am about to explain is, in fact, true 100% stock HD with no aftermarket oil coolers added. If you look at the pictures or watch the video below you will clearly see that Olivia's fuel tank has 2 caps.. In all actuality, the cap on the right hand side of that tank is actually an access point for her oil tank - believe it or not,, it is fact that 1/2 of what appears to be Olivias fuel tank is actually engine oil. While it may not appear to the untrained eye as an oil cooler per say,, the oil tank on Olivias back was actually designed exactly with that purpose in mind - to cool the oil by air passing over it.. Most of Olivia's predecessors had a similar design of oil an oil cooler (there was a short time that HD employed a "total loss system" where the oil pump was actually no more than a syringe mounted on the oil tank half of the fuel tank and to provide lubrication to the engine the rider would occasionally "pump" the syringe which would result in oil flow thru the bearings/journals with the exiting oil exiting out on the chain/ground and NOT being returned to the tank) - even the real early model Harleys with the rectangular tanks had them.. On other HD's that I have owned,,, including Choppers I have built from HD parts,, housed their oil bags (what us old timers called their oil tanks) under their seats but exposed front and sides to allow air flow for oil cooling. In 78 I won a brand new Shovelhead Low Rider on a job site and my Low Rider (named her Hoglia) came fully equipped with a factory HD forward mounted oil cooler that had the structure of a "radiator" as suggested above and it was, in fact, a genuine HD part..
  18. Hi ya Slynk and ,,,, !!!!! Very glad you found us and also glad you took a second to jump in here and share your experiences with us!!! Also,,, on the new scoot Slynk,, she is GORGEOUS!!!! Some questions,,,, I too have been wondering how the response to the new Venture has been within the Star Riders as they are who Yamaha chose as designers of the new Venture. Basically wondering how many of the Star Riders have jumped on one of the new Ventures like yourself.. To date,, I have not been able to locate any forums that lead to answering that question (although I have not spent the money to join up with "Star Touring" - I guess I am just to cheap to spend the bucks just to ask the question)... Noticing you mentioning the Strat/Liner/Raider forums to be used for research - could you direct us to those forums that may hold the answer to that question? Also, noticing your experience with the Strat (I have a little too as I have a nephew who bought a new one in 06) and your comment about not having looked at the new Venture had it not had the 113 in it.. Does that comment also apply even if Mom Yam would have named the new bike a Stratotourer or Roadliner Tourer and then put a V-4 in it?? Because of your very good past experience with your Strat,, would you have then over looked the fact that even with your excellent experiences with your 113inch air cooled, push rod big twin, if the 113 had been abandoned to promote a water cooled V-4 placed within a new bike that clearly stated it was Yamaha's all new Stratoliner and all new Stratoliner Tourer - would you then have given the V-4 a try?? I know,, I am often told I am VERY difficult to follow sometimes,, if you need me to reword my questions,, PLEASE feel free to ask... Puc
  19. I highly doubt we will Jeff,,, doing so would involve rockin the Windy City and I think best to avoid those breezes this trip.. Initially Vaz had mentioned possibly grabbin a boat ride on the Cross Lake but the last I spoke to him I got the impression that he moved the search for a good old fashioned Thunderstorm up in priority over the boat ride and I think even his plans now include a trip thru the southern route instead of the boat ride... I know brother,, at some point here we gotta hook up,,, got LOTS to catch up on including seeing that super sonic sound barrier busting Jet air craft of yours in action... So many things to do,,, so little time to do em... PUC
  20. Speaking of being reminded Snyp, a long lost crazy memory popped into my feeble mind when I read this... Years ago my oldest daughter and I were on one of my 1st Gens headed cross country for some daddy/daughter ride time,, we had just stopped and topped off our cup holders big gulp with another round of Mountain Dew and had gotten clearance from the tower to fly by a semi traveling at 15k feet.. We wicked up the turbine on the V-4 and just as we cleared the big rigs rear duelies a loose cannon pot hole appeared in the shade of the rig. We hit it square on so came thru it ok but the impact tossed the styro cup into the air in an end for end fashion of such that when I caught it with my left hand the lid popped off and we got an instant ice cold bath of Mountain Dew... After calming down from the instant ice bath we both started laughing and held the laughter all the way to the point of where the Dew dried up and we realised we were glued together from the sticky sugary mess even closer than we as a father/daughter team already had been... Ahhhhh the memories of CTFW's past...
  21. Nahhh,,, we already know (C vids),, keeping in mind that this is comparing the little 74 inch vs 113 inch big twin so its really not apples to apples,,,,, what would really be interesting is to see how that other Yamaha scoot with the 1700cc V-4 would compare to the closer in size 1800cc/113inch if loaded down with all the xtra weight on it like Tip, Tweeks and I (or other normal touring riders) typically travel.. That would be interesting.. big one little one
  22. I just noticed these posted on Craigs - no idea if it involves my friend @Carbon_One but I do know I have seen several members wondering about these...
