After finding out Vaz's new Shinko 777 HD rear tire had picked up a nail somewhere between his home in Arizona and Benton Harbor Michigan (THANK YOU LORD THAT MY FRIEND DID NOT EXPERIENCE A FLAT TIRE ON HIS 2ND GEN OUT THERE, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THAT HE HAD RIDDEN CHICAGO WITH THAT AIR LEAKING AROUND THAT SAME NAIL!!!) and knowing that we were fortunate enough to have made it up to my house in mid-Michigan on the two bit plug we had stuck in it to stop the leak,,,,, we figured we had stretched our luck far enough and decided it was tire change time!!!!2 lop eared good buddy varmints having one heck of a GREAT TIME IMHO!!!

WOWZY,,, I know how feel Riv!! I played with the Wings a bunch back before buying into the Ventures back in 87 to start taking my kids on cross country adventures.. I LOVED those early Wings,,, the sewing machine smoothness of those engines always tickled my innards. Unlike 90% of the touring folks back then,,, I LOVED the "commercial look" of the Venture over the "residential look" of the Wing.. All the neat stuff like adjustable bars/pegs, removable trunk,,,,,,,.... Plus I always admired the better MPG of the 1st Gens and the ease that the same size (CC for CC) Yamaha would run circles around the Wing... The REAL seller for me on the Yam was that no body wanted em so WOWZY,, talk about affordable!! Unbelievable how the Wing had such a strong culture/following and,, matter of fact,,, has held its own very well even in todays market.. Somewhere around here I have some Magazine articles from those early days that,,, seeing your GORGEOUS "Moby" here and knowing well of your 1st Gen adventures,,, I think you might find interesting.. If I can find them,,, I will post some writings up about Moby's kind and their with those early Ventures. God speed Moby!!! THANK YOU for bringing Riv into our club of misfits!! LIVE LONG AND ENJOY THE OPEN ROAD!!

Vaz picked up a nail in his new rear tire that we plugged and got him safely to the house.. Found a new tire locally,, we spooned it on and stuffed it with Dyna Beads, stuck enough air in it that Vaz said he heard the beads pop,, topped her off,,, greased her down, he cleaned the caliper/rotor up, tightened down the axle, left the bags in the garage and Tip - Vaz and I headed out for good long test ride.. All looked well, Tip came in the house, came back out a couple minutes later, handed me the phone,,, grandkids sick again,, all bets are off for Tip and I this year for MD... Not for absolute sure what Vaz is gonna do, we will have time in the A.M. to finish putting his scoot back together before cleaning up and heading down to my daughters,, I will try to post something up to let you guys know what his plans are.. Oh well,,,,, family first.... Hope you lop eared varmints have a GREAT time down there!!! Puc

Fork seals, again!
cowpuc replied to CaseyJ955's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Years ago I had issues like your dealing with on my first 1st Gen and that was when I discovered that Mom Yam had some kind an agreement with Bic Ink Pen company to allow Bic to provide ink pen springs for fork springs for our bikes - spindly little junk things they were,,, sack out just from sitting!! New set of Progressives set up with an inch of preload and 12.5 weight fork oil, running no air behind the oil and BINGO - no more blown seals!! Another thing you can do, IMHO Case, is double check for play in the fork bushings,,, little movement there can play havoc on the seals too.. -
I made this clip purposely to show folks why it's important to remember to take the keys out of your bike when your out chasing the front wheel and stop at a friends house to say howdy. This is especially important to do if your prone to falling asleep while sitting on your brothers couch after riding thru 7 States just to say hi!!!

Being from the great State of Arizona and knowing from experience how warm it can get in that desert region I was surprised, honored to be the one to show Vaz but still surprised, that my friend didn't know that the coolest spot in the Honda shop was laying on the concrete floor in their showroom. I really appreciated Vaz's idea that maybe we could add even more coolness by laying under a new Goldwing - WORKED GREAT IMHO CAUSE LOOK HOW COOL WE ARE!!!!
-
Nahhh,,, been way to nasty here weather wise to head for Oberlin.. We are hanging out at our place, working on scoots and burning burgers on the grill.. You headed that way Drews? How's the rain on your side of Michigan? Working on getting ya up a couple more vids here,,, hold I just a second,, I think one is done cookin:happy34:

Although some lop eared varmints don't seem to mind it 40,, I personally never really cared much for having blow outs on bike tires.. VERY glad you were able to ride er down to a safe conclusion and wishing you the best in getting your scoot back on her feet!!!

Sitting there talking in that Honda dealership about Vaz's motorcycle journey from his home state of Arizona was in full swing when this pretty little blue 2018 Goldwing came by strutting her bling completely side tracking our ongoing reunion!!!The wheels of the 2018 MD were DEFINITELY beginning to spin!!!

As Tweeks and I closed in on the Indiana state line while executing our hunt for VideoArizona, I got this impending feeling that we should stop and check for any new text/phone messages from Vaz. We pulled off at exit 29 only to be greeted by a text message from Vaz that stated that just 10 minutes before, Vaz had pulled off at exit 28!!!!! This type of irony is not that uncommon in our bike club and is part of the reason that we call each other "brother" as well as "friend",, at least thats the way I see it.

Tweeks has this uncanny ability to instantly make friends with people everywhere she goes so I was not surprised to find her talking with this young lady when we stopped for fuel in Holland Michigan while hunting for Vaz. This person gladly honored Tweeksis with another friendly signature on one of her many stickers she and her predecessors have earned but when asked if she had any idea of where we might find VideoArizona she unfortunately didn't have clue.

This years annual VR main event of getting together and spinning wrenches on our steeds took on a slightly different twist for our bike "Tweeksis", my wife "Tip" and I. A friend of ours from Arizona decided to come up and camp with us for a spell and then join us on our trek to the holy grail of all of our clubs rallys held in Ohio. Knowing that most of our club members dont have the built in gps capabilities that I was blest with from birth, I was concerned with my friend Vaz's (short for "VideoArizona") ability to locate us, so Tweeks and I decided to head out on an adventure that we now refer to as "The Hunt For VideoArizona"...

I wouldn't even bet against my old stock 1340 Evo HD if comparing performance against one of the 3rd Gens.. As shown in the vid below,,, they just dont dance... I know,,, I supposedly didn't have the bike in 'Sport Mode" for this run but,, in all fairness,, sport mode doesnt change any performance parameters,, it only affects throttle percentage to feed (been talking to a Yam tech ) which is no different than adding a 1/4 turn throttle to a cable drive. *****Invites are open to record and post a rebuttal video ,, until that happens,, the vid below is benchmark IMHO...

By the way Snype,, GOOD JOB ON SETTING UP THE POLL!!!!!!!

I think we should go back to public hangings for these scammers who prey on our society.. I don't personally even give em the time of day and let em mess up my life with their filth, I just keep an eye on my checking balances and report all ahh ohhs, let the banks handle the frauders.. I will say this though,, something I learned the hard way about using my debit cards when traveling cross country.. I noticed my debit card stopped working one time while out CTFW and thought I had been scammed.. Later I find out that cha gotta call in ahead of time and get clearance for out of town transactions or the bank will shut off the card.. I was kinda upset the first time this happened but later,, after thinking about it,, I was actually thankful to see them taking action to protect themselves and my money and have since, been very very diligent in prereporting my travel plans.. Just sort a personal effort on my part to maybe help in catching one of those lowlifes!!!

You wanna know what those Canuckians up north of ya would say about that brother?,,,,,,,, I knew ya would, eh... They would say,,,,,, the moral of that story right there is that you can't teach an old dog new tricks and if ya even try he will growl at you,, eh!!!

,,,, Hydrangea eay,,,, was just telling Tippy we needed to find something to plant around our grill outback:happy34:

Vaz should be here tomorrow (PLEASE ride safe out there my brother!!), he is only about 6 hours from us right now.. The weather forming up for our travels to MD looks questionable at this time and I think it would be wrong for anyone in the area that wanted to say howdy to videoarizona to miss the chance because of the weather .. Currently our weather here in West Michigan looks pretty good thru Wednesday and I just got off the phone with David and suggested to him that I set up a Puc's Meet-Greet and Eat-Meat giving him star billing for Wednesday of this week.. That sounded like fun to Vaz too,,, soooo: Number 3 2018 Puc's MGnEM! Wednesday, May 30th 2018 12:30 P.M. Meet at EZ Mart Gas Station 18866 Cadillac Highway Copemish Mi, 49625 All welcome,, free Hot Dogs, chips, pops,, Elvis Concert (The King WILL be joining us!!) and now you even get to meet VIDEOARIZONA IN PERSON!!!!!! **** If your interested, PLEASE let me know here - I wayyyyy over ordered for the last outing and I am not sure that that lop eared Arizonian varmint can handle eating 200 pounds of left over Hot Dogs while he is here!!!

,,,,,, we're having Amish Pony Rides at MD this year???? ,,, are the Pony Ride tickets included in whatever we put in the lunch donation can? And are their owners bringing a variety of Ponies (1st, 2nd and 3rd Gens?) with a variety of suspension set ups (assuming Ponies come set up permenantly with one dampening/rebound setting?) so everyone will be able to enjoy them even after eating dinner?? This should REALLY be interesting!!!!!! Gitty up!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots and lots of GREAT CTFW in Colorado but one of my favorite, sometimes missed by others and almost NEVER camped on by others spots there is in Colorada is what I call the Grand Mesa overlook.. Its a mountain top that overlooks Grand Junction and the desert region below.. It's about 12 miles of improved gravel to get out to but DEFINITELY well worth the journey IMHO... Night sky's like none other and not to bad of temps because of the warm air coming off the desert floor below... Get to Grand Mesa and ask about the pathway to the overlook!! GREAT RIDE UP AND DOWN TOO!!
