My touring bikes have carried a Wall Drug sticker on em for,,, well,, for what seems like FOR EVER.. Back when my son "P-Dog" (actually earned this biker name when he was 8 years old - had did his required 3 days in the saddle that showed he had earned the privilage of having a biker name and thats when the two of aboard my 1st Venture landed at the East Gate of the Badlands N.P. where he fell in love with Prairie Dogs). During that time frame, Wall Drug was still a yearly/favored quick stop for their free ice water (we snuck packets of lemon juice and sugar from the cafeteria to make cup after cup of free Lemon Aid = when life gives ya lemons and all that ) and the main attraction for my boy and I was shootin Aliens in the video game machine in the Back Yard and making the targets chime in the Back Yards "Shootin Gallery".. Wall Drug was also where my oldest daughter "Awahoo" (the one who is ready to pop out my next grandson ANYDAY) discovered a song by Micheal Murphy while goofing around pushing buttons with a head set on and searching thru music that is titled "Cowboy Logic".. She yelled at me across the store and, with tears in her eyes,, said "DAD!! This song should be titled "Cowpuc Logic" cause it says it all!!" Still makes me cry when I hear it and think of her saying that!! I often have people question my continued love for this, admittedly,,, trail side tourist trap found at the journeys end on the West Gate of the Badlands.. What those folks probably dont know is that Wall Drug of Wall S.D. offers a seemingly endless collection of displayed Cowboy and Native American photography = something to behold I tell ya!! Tweeks KNOWS that Tip and I WILL always stop to continue our endless search thru these volumes and volumes of precious history.. Having long ago lost the responsibilities associated with having to keep an eye on the kids,, we can now devote endless hours of pure pleasure in rediscovering the REAL western U.S. and relive what those early settlers of our amazing nation went thru in their pursuit to bring us a settled nation..

If you take the time to view this video I am sure you will agree with me that this place is nothing short of AMAZING!!! The quarry's at Pipestone are outright BREATH TAKING!!! The thought that for centuries, warring tribes of the Indian Nations would drop their grievances and come together as a people to come to this one place on the planet that offers the perfect "Pipe Stone" for making peace pipes!! What an amazing place!!!

Tom,, if you do,, PLEASE let him know that it can/will be done in complete anonymity so not even I know who he/she is. Just a simple gesture to continue to see even more AWESOME folks on the site!!! Also,, I/we REALLY had hopes of attending this years rally - I KNOW we really missed something special = would have LOVED to have been there but life always seems to get in the way....... Actually though,,,, it was AMAZING seeing my pregnant daughter out in Sac (its a Dad and his daugher kind of thing).. Brother,, this Grandfather stuff is CRAZY fun -
:scared::scared::scared::scared:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You do that and I will DEFINITELY be camping in your front yard just BEGGIN for some flyin time!!!! Not sure,,, I think it may have been closer to mid July... WOW does the time fly!! We stopped at the place in mid Minnesota called "Pipestone"... It where,, for centuries,, Native Americans would put down their fighting tools and stop killing each other to quarry a very special stone for making Peace Pipes.... Extremely peaceful and amazing place!!! I would have to look at my reciept from there but I think that was day 2 of our journey and I believe I made a post or two the day before we pulled out.... Definitely was home for 4th of July fire works.... Next trip might be longer cause I am gonna play with that new born grandson after Tip spends some time rock-a-bying him in his new chair and helping the daughter with her first couple weeks home... Might be Spring before you hear from me when that happens This Grand Fathering gig is something to behold brother:backinmyday:

Thanks Snype = good to be home for a spell too!! I use have used Chaparral Racing very successfully thru the years.. I usually do an Ebay search and 90% of the time they seem to come up cheapest as shown as an example in this link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/140-90-16-Kenda-K657-Challenger-Rear-Tire/323346786319?epid=171171961&hash=item4b48f8680f:g:I68AAOSwgLdaouV8 No idea what scoot (?) that tire is on or what size it is but WOWZY that dont look good - definitely snag a tire for the son there bro!!!! Your right,, the Lord DEFINITELY was lookin over em!! I did have a not so good time with Chaparall recently as they are the company that sent me the messed up E-4 that I ended up returning.. After YEARS of buying from them (never had to do a return) I did have that one recent issue.. Other than that,, they normally ship free AND the tire gets here very fast = couple days.. When I have them ship to my Daughters in California for my swap out there - usually within 24 hours I have the new tire!!!!!! Funny though,,, it took a couple weeks to get that E-4!!! I still think it was some kind of a game going on,, a left over return maybe because it had a "Drag Specialies" sticker on it under the UPS label... Just a forewarn.... That E-4 is DEFINITELY one tough tire!!! Wayyyyyyy tougher than anything I have ran = even a high dollar Michellin Commander 2 is NOT EVEN CLOSE!!! Only problem I see now is that if I have a flat on the road there is NO WAY on Gods green earth that tire is coming off with a set of spoons - it will DEFINITELY take a tire machine so there is that.... For folks who just call a tow truck,,,,, no problem!! For us "spooners" = it aint gonna happen... Other than that - WOW am I impressed!! Be interesting to see how far it goes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By the way,,, this link https://www.ebay.com/itm/Duro-Excursion-140-90-16-Front-Rear-Tire/332554761220?epid=171162887&hash=item4d6dcef404:g:iUsAAOSw9vlahGGn:sc:UPSGround!49445!US!-1 is the company where ended up getting the good E-4 from,,, same price and free shipping as Chap!!! REALLY ended up being a good place too IMHO and also had my tire in just a couple days and it was PERFECT!!!

THANKS JEFF,, forgot all about this!! Got Tweeks output shaft out today and did a 100% thourough check on the frame.. I did a video of all of it but wont be posting it up till winter probably but included some pics below.. Amazingly, the frame looked great!! No sign of stress cracking thru paint at joints even... Nothing!! PHEW!! Better safe than sorry though!! Also,,, lash on output checked out PERFECT (about .003),, both middle gear bevel gears looked great,,, even though yoke(s) looked like they came out of the landing of Tweeks the Heavy just fine (will know more about this when I press in a new U-Joint - I have no way to Magna Flux but lookin good from what i can see).. It appears that the impact of the landing actually cracked the bottom of bearing cup on the u-joint enough to cause the seal to fall away and get stuck in the bearing... Things really got chewed up from there causing loss of some of the needles.. Thankfully the U-Joint is external of the middle gear so all the aborted parts and pieces got trapped in the housing molded into the swingarm... Someone () was sure watching over the three of us!! Thanks Roller,, love ya brother!! Just before we left I hurt some feelings by making some opinionated statements (I can be wayyyyy over bearing sometimes,,, my passion for scoots can get out of hand) about the new Yam,, things got a little personal and I ended up with some off colored comments being sent to my phone.. I was concerned about someone knowing of our coming and goings,, shared some of my thoughts with the local Police and they suggested I make some changes - not posting our whereabouts on the net being one of them... I did have contact with videoarizona via phone for a short while but lost service out in Wendover (Bonneville Salt Flats = went camping 10 miles out,,, got video = AWESOME fun!!! = also spent a day playing at a WW2 airbase out there - WOW was that AWESOME!!! Such a big land,, such a small amount of time ).. The Dunny worked AWESOME!!! TAKE A PEEK AT THE PIC!!! We didnt spend much time ziggin and zaggan North to South but it did see some fairly high temps!! Definitely well pleased!!! Back at cha Spence and THANKS!! Roger that on the Aero-Planes there tower.... Matter of fact,,,,,,, been flying the lightweight stuff like 250 Elsinores and KX500's = landing those 180 footers got to be a an every weekend experience BUT - I really dont recall landing a Gen 1 Yamaha Heavy,,, guess what Spence,,,,,,, ya ever see in the movies where those fat aero-plane tires on the heavy's go SQWAUK when they touch down? THAT really does happen!!!! Heyyyyyy,, Hi Sky!! My daughter said my new Grandson didnt have a rockerbye chair so,,,,,,,,,,,,,, now he's got one!!!!!! CAN NOT WAIT TO GET BACK OUT THERE AND TRY IT OUT WITH HIM AFTER HE DECIDED TO COME OUT AND PLAY!!!! By the way,, get this,, the old guy who we bought the chair from was a Navy Vet who retired after spending many years on "Intrepid" (ship that was docked in Manhattan when my 2nd born was going to Med School at Cornell there!!! After retirement, he went to work as a Cop and found this chair in a dumpster, restored it (its one of those chairs that has a hole covered with leather in the seat) but kept the original leather intact.. Raised their 3 kids rockin it,,, his son joined the Navy and spent his time on the famous Kitty Hawk and he and his wife also have 3 children who got the rockin chair rockin and now there Son is in the Navy!!!!!!:usa::usa::usa::usa: Got a hunch,,, that California Grandkid is gonna be one tough,, patriotic ombre!!

WOWZY WOW WOW WOW:scared:,,, now THAT is what I'm talking about my brothers and sisters!!!!! :clap2: Like that sweet brother of mine,, DragonRider, LOVES to say,,,, Just Do It For The Kids!!!!!!! Having been out of town for this GREAT Rally and,, because I am not a drinkin man (me and Mr. Vodka got in trouble years ago and I am now sworn to no more booze) so I could not of with the guest who was so generous anyway,,, I would LOVE to pay for a year of membership here on the site to say THANK YOU to this person.... If anyone knows who it was and could contact him and let him know of my offer I would appreciate it... Maybe even better yet,,,, if you know who it is and the person would like to join in on the awesome family fun we have here,,, just just have em sign up for a Trial period, then P.M. @Freebird that the person signed up for the free trial and,, if Don don't mind doing it,,, he can let me know that I owe the club another 12 bucks (I don't even need to know who the person is). ,,,, did that all come out like I meant it to come out ... -
Looks like the new grandson out in Sac is gonna make life double interesting and do the full term thing.. His Mom, our oldest was born at home 2 months early and therefore "delivered" by yours truly (an interesting story in itself and NOT something I recommend if you have no medical training - which neither Tip nor I had) = all the others of our 4 came early too.. All that said,, we have been expecting this one to follow suit but,, at least at this point,,, not so!!!! Personally,,, I think he is playing games with his grampa to see just how many trips back n forth across the country I am up to LOL... Home now but no idea for how long.. The highway recently offered up one of those motocross jumps in the form of a heat heave that I didnt see (to busy yakkin with Tip about grandkids probably) which sent us airborne... We were able to land Tweeks the flying fortress but not without damage... She's got quite a "clunk" up in her middle gear area... Of course I was hoping for drive shaft damage so I wouldnt have to pull the swingarm this morning but the drive shaft and final drive all look great (that Red grease is doing a FINE job!!)... Now it's on to pulling the swingarm so I can remove the output shaft and check out the yoke/U-Joint assembly... I hope its repairable there cause this old numb fingered, twisted grip Dupyntren infested hands lop eared varmint is NOT gonna pull a motor!!! Getting ready to take Tip out for breakfast IN THE CAGE and then on to fixen Tweeks and preppin the car for the return trip to Sac!! Thought I best touch base here as I had gotten word (BEFORE we lost all phone connections) folks were wondering where we were (THANKS FOR THE CONCERN YA BUNCH OF LOP EARED VR VARMINTS!!! Ol Pucster and young Tip and hurtin Tweeksis feel the love!!).. Even if it ends up being short lived,,, be it ever sooooo humble... I will check my P.M.'s later today as I just got notified I have at least 1

Indeed Mike = THANK YOU for allowing us the ride along brother,,, sounds like you and your new scoot had a BLAST out there and that is what it's all about IMHO!!! Loose neck bearings was all after an Epic Adventure like that??? Not bad,,,, not bad at all IMHO!!!
-
Actually Snype your not to far off on this one,,,,,,,, that Heritage Springer buried under there is a HD that I have always admired and would LOVE to own someday.. ,, I make a club promise that if somehow I do get to finally own one I will strap my belongings on a little tighter though so I dont have to reach back and hold stuff on to keep it from cluttering the roads behind me

Not for me, but Marca has a different take

Hey QuickDraw MaGraw (you beat me to it again Roller!!),,, you might be onto something here!! Only iffy is that I have a Grand Son due out in California in early September and we are hosting a baby shower for him out there between now and then (family first) so this is gonna be a 2 trips to the west coast year for us.. I have both Tweeksis and the car prepped for the 1st trip (the "shower" trip as we still are not sure that we are going to be able to haul all the stuff we need from here for the shower out there but we shall see.. If we end up taking the car, Tweeksis will be sitting in the garage all prepped for a journey eastward if the dates line up:happy34: so don't let your infrared temp gun get to far away from ya my friend!! If we are home and at all possible,, I would LOVE to take you up on your offer brother!! I was already trying to hammer out a way to get out to the NY Rally cause I/we have never been and I have some very good friends I would LOVE to see again (yourself included) and some new varmints I too would LOVE to meet IRL and all that BUT being able to actually put one of these new ones under the microscope and record the actual findings would be icing on the cake IMHO... Already having a really good start at it after attending the Rally those Canuckians put on earlier this year and then having @videoarizona come and have soooooo much fun with us as an extension of Don's MD = This could turn into one of the mostest AWESOME summers this ol Cowpuc has seen a couple years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Personally I LOVE riding the Bonneville and,, although I have never ridden it competively Zag, I wish your friend nothing but the best of the best out there in realizing his dream in the attempt to set a record!!!!! What a BLAST!!! I know that the salt doesn't look like it when looking across it from the Bonneville entrance at the end of that roadway near Wendover but, it can in fact be a very dangerous place and is not always welcoming to high speed pursuit.. "Pot Holes" of salt mud and the like can really mess up your day... I have ridden it many times just for fun in everything from cars to bikes (below is a video attempt to top out Tweeks in all her glory) and, after topping out my "bucket list" early model R1 Yamaha (made just before they speed limited them to 186 mph) at 172 mph (176 actual on the gps) tached out in 5th Gear have now got a dream (inspired by my precious wife) to make another trip out to the Bonneville with the R1 in tow to see if Maggie the R1 would actually carry full tach in 6th gear and see if it would break 200 mph = I honestly think she has it in her!!! Please let your friend know that he has a DEFINITE follower of what he is up to, someone who truly has his that he is 100% successful in his record setting attempt and someone who obviously shares in the passion and love for what he is up against!!!!!!! Also,, PLEASE keep us posted here as his day comes forward and, if possible,, get lots and lots of pictures for us my brother!!! Now this IS exciting!!!:fingers-crossed-emo:fingers-crossed-emo:fingers-crossed-emo:fingers-crossed-emo:fingers-crossed-emo:fingers-crossed-emo:fingers-crossed-emo:fingers-crossed-emo Puc

Hey you lop eared ice cream snatchin varmint,,,, what would be the chance of one of you varmints who speak in that eastern U.S. accent checking this out for us less than advanced to see if that really is going to be the case and also what days and hours of the days during the rally that the new one will be available?? Maybe a quick note of clarification here would also not be a bad idea my brother so all our club members know up front that this is gonna happen if it is? Personally,,, if we as a group really will have unfettered access to the machine I am definitely interested in attending with infrared, video camera and a completely stock 1st Gen V-4 to compare for analysys if there is any way possible for me/us to make it out there (I know,, my passion for this stuff is sickening but what the heck,, I was born with this disease and have learned to live with it thus far)!!

There may be others besides myself that would really like to see/read some final answers concerning some things related to the the new Venture including things like the performance of it in it's "Sport Mode" (there have been rumors spread now that going into Sport Mode engages a turbo, changes the cam timing, remaps both fuel and ignition which increases the Horsepower from that of a 70ish horse 88 inch stock HD to that closer to the 120 horse V-Rod performance with enough umpth to lift the front wheel in the 1st three gears and break the back tire loose in 3rd gear just by rolling on the throttle) which has been claimed to wildly turn the beast into a muscle bike but also rumored to be nothing more than a throttle to throttle body ratio change. Also, IMHO, it would also be outstanding to read that someone has actually taken the bikes tempature with a infrared temp gun as there have been reports both ways that the 3rd Gen is actually cooler than any water cooled touring bikes sitting in traffic back ups when the ambients are above 100 degrees even though the other touring scoots engines (like the Gold Wing) are covered/shrouded with plastic all while others are still reporting that the bike definitely has heat issues in the same way HD and Polaris's Indian do.. All that said,, I wonder if those attending the NY Rally will be allowed to actually ride it and do some real life genuine comparisons or will the bike be treated like the demo's were at Sturgis last year when the demo riding was very monitored and looking for/asking for answers was not encouraged... Just thinking out loud here but I wonder if members here KNEW that they were going to actually be able to do some actual comparing of this new scoot (as a group) that the NY Rally may just see record attendance

I may be TOTALLY wrong on this but I do not recall hearing of one of our States issuing CC permits and not allowing open carry. As I mentioned earlier,, the CC is an extension of the right to keep and bear and open carry is foundational in that right, with Concealed Carry being in addition. The States who do not adhere to our Constitutional governing (lots of those on both the east and west coast), and is my understanding, do not allow for open carry and it's therefore a given that they also do not issue CC permits and normal law abiding citizens are not allow to pack = in those States, this is reserved for bad guys and Law Enforcement only!! I am not sure if this has changed cause it has been a while since I have chatted with anyone from Wyoming about this but a few years ago I was traveling across Wy, stopped at a gas station to tank up and noticed Chrome Colt Python laying on the seat of the truck next to me, the owner was putting in some fuel and I commented to him about how PURDY that shooter was.. He reached in, picked it up and handed it to me for me to play with = it was fully loaded.. I said "got a CC permit eh"? Nope,, was his reply,, dont need nothing like that out here, it's still America out here and everyone carrys.. Later, I noticed some WY State Patrol officers eating lunch and asked em about it.. Oh yeaa,, was there reply,,, out here it's a given that every car we pull over is armed,,, just the way it is... Shamefully I do not know where this stands now as an absolute (I live here,, I REALLY should know our laws concerning this) but back when I was young it was considered a normal way of life to see "Easy Rider Rifle Racks" hanging in the window our pickup trucks = everybody had em and 99% of em had long guns hanging openly for all the world to see.. Now adays,, it is my understanding that even the most flat out conservative and ardent Constitutional honoring States that are issuing CC's do NOT honor those CC's to include long guns!! In other words,, the CC permit is ONLY for handguns,,, makes no sense either IMHO..

SOOOOO glad they found that killer and got things under control Ben!!!!! THANK YOU for taking the time to get checked out and taking corrective action my friend = you will be in our thoughts and prayers for a full recovery and your ol buddy Puc is looking forward to many many more years of ,,, and TONS of with you,, you ol lop eared Saddle Bum varmint you!!! P.S. = I still dont care whether Tooches kids gave em that sticker or not,,,, you n I arent even close to being ready for THAT yet
