Hi Eileen,,,,, I see you peekin over the Bosses shoulder reading this young lady.... Just wanted you to know not to feel bad about going when Don said that!! I know I was doing the same thing (and I could actually "feel" 90% of the rest of the club members going like this too!!) when he wrote that same thing a couple of new bikes ago.... Don't tell Don but, as you know,,, he has a terminal disease called Toxic Newbikeatosis and,, as it sounds by its name,, it is not curable.. The only thing you can do is love him, hold him and be gentle with him and be thankful that his affliction is slightly different than how this dreaded disease has affected some of the club members.. At least in your Hubbies case,, oddly enough he has shown a willingness to sell off prior bikes that also were his "last bikes",, thusly proving that there is always hope,, even in the Bosses case:missingtooth: Your friend Puc

Hearing that brother!! Just got off the phone with my Son-In-Law out in Sac... Doing the math,,, at 3 bucks a gallon x 4 tanks of gas = 120 bucks to get us there!!! This thing is down right unreal!!! Get this one Don,,, it's AC works off the it EV mode so literally you can "start" the car (strange thing with these things,, you START the car and nothing happens other then the dash lights come on ) , set the inside climate control,,, crawl in the back and nod out... There is whole new "camping in my hybrid" trend that Tip and I are gonna start... May sound corny but coming from 2 people who have spent many many nights camping in a tent all over the country = this will be like going from Motel 6 to the Taj Ma Haul for Tip and I So the Sales Manager and I are deep in negotiations... We are down from 23,687 MSRP to 18,800 cash when something dawns on me.. I explain to him that it is VERY VERY important to me that ALL of the factory stickers and stuff are left INTACT on our new car when Tip and I drive it off the lot... He says,, "you dont want it detailed,, you want it just like you took it off the truck (except "prepped" of course)? - I said EXACTLY,, I GOTTA have my stickers,, dont mess with my stickers = ANY OF THEM!! And then I said,,, "Of course I dont wanna PAY for "detailing" either (get my stickers and save in the process).. All said,, ended up at 18,447 cash for a 23,687 car equipped with EXACTLY what we wanted!!! Full tank of gas TO BOOT!! SOOOOO MUCH FUN!!

Wanna hear something down right ironic Deej? I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing when that lop eared Freebird varmint played the customary and traditional "this is my last bike" card in another thread!!! Doing it so smoothly,,,,,, like he didn't KNOW he was preachin to the choir:witch_brew: -
This thing is INCREDIBLE!!! In this video we are actually showing an average of 62 MPG (INSANE FUN!!!) out of our new Hyundai Ioniq!! Shortly after videoing this episode while traveling faster (still non-highway where the little car that could is suppose to get it's best fuel economy) we actually ran a steady 65 mpg!!

I was almost back in the saddle...But my beast has no fire!!!!!!

I cant speak for Sir Bongo because he is one of our electrical guru's but I think what he is trying to say here CaptN is that, unlike a smaller bike with lesser amp load needs where the ignition coil is on the stator plate along with the supply going to the regulator/rectifier - our Ventures are "battery ignition" meaning their source for the ignition comes from the battery.. On our Venture stators there will be (3) white wires coming from the stator and no wires leading attached to the trigger coils. Those triggers and the total ignition system can be operated at full effeciency off a fully charged battery and the bike will start and run fine as long as the battery maintains a decent charge.. What you describe in the power loss, drog cylinders DOES sound very familiar to numerous stator loss situations I have encountered BUT - and its a HUGE but,,,, I did successfully cover many many miles with a completely gone stator just by hanging a fully charged car battery on the bike - I KNOW,, sounds NUTS but it does work = as long as the battery is charged your good to go!! On a scoot who's ignition electrical source is a coil(s) being energized by the flywheel (not talking impulse for setting up actual spark = that is what the trigger coils are for) this is NOT possible.. All that said CaptN,,, I agree with Bongo in that, if it were my bike, the first thing I would do is hook up a GOOD fully charged battery and roll the starter and see what happened... Here is a short vid of one of our stator failures where we ran across Texas with a battery charger to keep the battery up to get to my brother Squidleys house for a repair (Texas Hero that Squid is!!).. -
home made set up for wet setting floats on the bench

I use marked for accuracy syringes (find em at an Ag store used for horse doctoring = CHEAP,,, like these on Ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Qty-12-1-oz-wide-nose-reusable-Syringes-to-administer-dog-cat-horse-medicine/253829279696?hash=item3b19676fd0:g:qBUAAOSwMmBVh0w4:sc:USPSFirstClass!49445!US!-1 ) attached to the drain on the carb to pull fuel from the carb and then measure it. Keeping track of how much a given carb bowl should have in it if it is doing its thing properly is as simple as writing down what it has when running properly so you have a number to compare to.. I also use these syringes to clean my carbs occasionally. On the side mount vacuum slide CV carbs like on our Ventures this is really easy to do - just draw the fuel from the carb drain, look at measurement on syringe to see if float height is good (anwser to your question = if the float height is improperly set or other problem happening involving amount of fuel in bowl = you will see it by how much fuel is measured in syringe = float height determines jamount = make sense?) and fuel amount is proper, remove metering rod/slide assembly (PERFECT TIME TO CHECK DIAPHRAM CONDITION), inect carb cleaner into drain with syringe until carb cleaner flows from metering rod hole/emulsion tube (this will assure your getting cleaner into low speed passages), suck the cleaner out and note how much cleaner it took to overflow carb, squirt back in,,, other three carbs dont HAVE to have slides removed to clean them now that you know how much cleaner to inject.. Take notes so next time you can clean the carbs very quickly and easily....... -
You betcha ya lop eared Canuckian Spyder ridin varmint... Glad to be of assistance

@Carbon_One ,, INDEED Larry = YOU have a VERY good memory my friend!!!! I got a chance and did dig around in DenDens awesome maintenance notes and sure nuff = frame has been updated:thumbsup: Good thing too cause,, after getting the output shaft out, I found out that we landed hard enough to actually crack/bend one of the u-joint bearing bosses and ended up "tweekin" that "arm" enough that it toasted that bearing BIG TIME!! What a mess BUT definitely could have been much worse if the frame had let go when she landed and went "squawk"!! By the way,,, I now have the parts sitting on the counter here just waiting to put her back together... @Freebird or @Marcarl or who ever else can make a corrective change in the read only tech section,,, the quoted part number needed for a replacement joint that reads "s-1500X" should read "5-1500X"...

Heyyyyyy ya lop eared varmint - WELCOME HOME TO YOU TOO MY BROTHER!!!! Sooo,, @videoarizona , gotta a quick question for ya Vaz,,, how is that a professional picture takin (I have SEEN your work first hand so NO possibility of using modesty to having denied us of this ) varmint like you has not shared any vids or pics of this Horse House Motel you went and got?? I mean really brother,,, not only is not posting em up sort of just wrong,,, it's also a major CODE violation ya know!!

Wayyyyy cool Red!!! So purdy it makes my eyes bleed for want/desire to return to the days of yesteryear.. Unfortunately, time and disease has taken its toll on my tired, beat up,, whipped out old body and the difference between my hearts desires and physical possibilities that have widened over the last decade of time totally removes that GORGEOUS canyon carver out of my reach.. THANKS FOR PLAYING THOUGH!!! Your buddy! Puc

home made set up for wet setting floats on the bench
cowpuc replied to saddlebum's topic in Watering Hole
That is an interesting setup... Personally I have used empty Hypoid rear end lube bottles with the tapered nozzles for many years for this... I simply cut a section of gas line off the 50 foot spool hangin in the shop, slip it over the nozzle on the empty container,, make sure the container is cleaned out cause ya dont want rear end grease in your carb(s). Fill the container, attach the gas line to the carb, squeeze the bottle until the fuel fills the bowl and you feel the float valve close because the flow stops. Hold pressure against the closed valve to insure the needle and seat are functioning properly, remove the hose from the carb, put a plug in the hose still connected to the container and stick it in on the shelf for the next test session. Drain the carb and check for proper amount of fuel (checking float height) and all done... Easy to do even in the pits of a MX track... -
2018 SVTC Initial Impression
cowpuc replied to Freebird's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Heyyyyyyyyyy,, look what the cat dragged in Tip!!!!! Welcome home and excellent report Boss!! THANK YOU for the quick post (quick? yea right,, what you wrote would have taken me 3 hours to type) on your purdy new scoot!! CAN NOT WAIT to read/hear/see more of the same!! Working? It's Labor Day weekend,,, not work time,, PLAY TIME!!! Another - "yea right" .... EVERYONE who's EVER ran a business or been self employed KNOWS that cha gotta make it happen when the possibilities present themselves!! Hope ya make a trillion bucks today out there getting it done my friend!! -
Ok,, more clues... Like @Freebird (I only did this Bat Signal thing with the @ symbol in Don's case cause I havebeen patiently waiting for some PICTURES and TRAIL STORIES from the lop eared new SVTC ridin varmint and = NOTHING,,, zippo,,, nada = hope your ok out there my friend!!!!) I am also one of those shrewd buyers who never pays MSRP for nuttin!! It's a flaw in my charachtor (I am a cheap varmint) but years of running the bike shop did nothing but increase this disease (that buy low/sell high and expand on the difference routine REALLY gets in your blood .. Our M.O. for purchases like this is "wait for year end sales", save your pennies cause "Cash is King", and "enjoy the purchasing experience to the fullest". So,, knowing that the model year end is upon us, model year change overs are in process BIG TIME, end of the month quota's are happening (everyone KNOWS that the last 4 days of the month are the best time to purchase) and Sales Persons are in full force and are hungry to make the inventory numbers look good and on and on = we took a pocket full of cash and went SHOPPING!!!!! All that said,,, it's brand new TO US,,, it is NOT a 2019 model,,, it IS a left over 2018 Model and it did have to be brought in from another out of state dealership as our local dealer (GREAT PEOPLE who you will meet in the next video installment cause UNLIKE some people,, I honor The Code and take PICTURES/VIDEOS!!) didnt have the right color - actually,, they didnt even have a left over in stock!!
-
Oppsss,,, dahhhh,,, bet your talking about a Voltage Regulator/Rectifier Snype,,, sometime my brain amazes me with how slow it is... I think it was somehow thinking we were still talking about Ebaying for the new Venture and it doesnt switch gears to fast anymore (think I got a worn out detent roller or something LOL).. Anyway,,, I am still using OEM stuff.. I have swapped on parts from my parts bikes and grab junk parts too when ever I see em at our scrap yard... Not sure that I would sink to much into a used one on Ebay if it was me.. I think they are available aftermarket fairly reasonable just have no experience with any of them..
-
Hey Snype,,, ,,,, ,,, what's an "r/r"??? Forgive me brother = I am TERRIBLE with breviatioinal stuff,, took Yammer Dan 2 years to get me taught that CTFW meant Chasing The Front Wheel

One of the things I noticed when I got a peek at the internals on the new Ventures engine when we rode em out at Sturgis was that the engine they had under glass at that time did not employ roller lifters.. I know that HD has been using them for years as a stock item to mitigate wear between the cam lobes and the flat lifter bottom.. Having built numerous HD's up, I am also sure that they (HD) also offers higher grade "Screaming Eagle" roller lifters (as well as roller rockers) too and can absolutely verify that the rollers really do an amazing job of preventing wear as the lifters are riding on bearings instead of a film of oil... I know that the earlier 113's (Liners, Raiders and Strats) did employ non-rollers but I am not sure if Mom Yam or an after market source ever did come out with them.. This may be something to inquire about if you are looking for a more permentant fix...

Technical and slow speed maneuvering
cowpuc replied to Shadowhawk's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I know they are FAR from any form of the stuff suggested from "Ride Like A Pro" but a friend ask me to post something for him that may assist him years ago... I did hear back that my cheasy little suggestion vid did help some so thought I would stick it in here.. Hope it helps!! Also including one my wife and did on @videoarizona s bike this summer when he blessed us with a visit this past summer.. I/we found his Gen 2 to be just as "rideable" and did a short vid about it too = included for your benefit.. If they help = GREAT,, if they dont = toss em out with the wash -
:scared::scared:,,,,, WAYYYYY COOL!! CONGRATS on the new scoot brother!! Them Wings are BAD TO THE BONE when it comes to CTFW!! Wishing you and your new scoot nothing but the best in endless fun together and looking forward to some great ride reports!!

I was almost back in the saddle...But my beast has no fire!!!!!!
cowpuc replied to Captaineasy520's topic in Watering Hole
Yep,,, DONT EVER GIVE UP!!! That TCI I mailed you came off a running scoot (my 1st Venture) but had been shelved for many many years.. That said,, we both know from experiencing what can happen when we assume (makes an a$$ out of U and me sound familiar?) so I dont think I would do that.. It would be great if someone else had a known CURRENT good one that they could loan you just to test the one I sent you against... Another real possibility IMHO would be the trigger coils down on the flywheel... Not sure if their is a ohm test for them in the Service Manual or not.. Maybe one of the guru's like @Prairiehammer - @bongobobny or @Flyinfool would know.. I can do some diggin when I get back to my garage if one of these brainies dont chime in... Keep us posted CaptN!!!! -
