  1. Never mind,, I think I got the correct lop eared varmint = "Biker In A Hat" is your screen name there?????
  2. Very very well done Joeke3el = THANK YOU for the great ride report video brother!!!:thumbsup: Now I am on a different type of a journey here to find this video on Youtube so I can give you a there too and subscribe so I dont miss any of your future ride reports!! DEFINITELY top quality IMHO!!!! By the way,,,, what is your Youtube screen name? THANK YOU again for sharing!!
  3. Nic snay,,,,, thinkin it was Dirty Harry Callahan,,,, same guy who could never convince the low lifes to make his day
  4. Yep,,, that's an oldy BUT still an unsolved mystery.. IMHO,,,,, If you look closely you can tell that #2 rider to go down was actually looking down in the gultch as though he was actually intending to ride down in there.. I still think that #1 was the true "accident" and when #2 noticed his buddy was down, noticing the perticument they were all in with the possibility of oncoming traffic and no place to get out of the way, he entered into instant decision making time and,, that being mixed with a fair amount of panic,, chose to ride off the edge to clear the roadway and keep from getting run over from oncoming traffic and/or injuring someone else. Once he was committed by getting his bike sideways in the switchback he was committed and in his mind - was left with no other choice but take his licks on the mountain side...
  5. Thanks Larry ,,, :lightbulb:we could name the section "ride like a wannabe" .. Here is another one that may fit the discussion here..
  6. When Tip, Trooper and I pulled into this tiny rest area just west of the town of Tonopah NV which is part of Area 51 I couldn't help but notice two gentlemen with some high end/exotic photography equipment set up at the rest area. As a normal course of event in life, thinking they were either looking for Aliens (a sport I LOVE) or watching for some other strange activity coming out of Nellis Air Base (another sport I love too), I thought I better inquire into their suspicious activity.. What I learned from these very professional bird watchers was nothing short of amazing!! Come to find out,, a certain percentage of migrating birds get lost in their migratory flights (amazing it happens to birds just like us people!!!!) and when this happens over the desert the need for WATER becomes an issue!! This tiny little rest area houses the only tree cover and WATER for many many many miles around so it ends up being the perfect place for professional bird watchers to collect data/gather picture as rare birds from all over the world end up in this tiny location!! Think of it - rare people from around the world end up coming here to photograph rare birds also from around the world = who'ld of ever thunk it!! A side note: Notice the shirt that the fellow that I am interviewing is wearing? If you are a Bee Keeper like one of my daughter's (or even just someone interested in the balance of life on our planet), that shirt may mean something special to you (the man does NICE work!!). The guy who is wearing that shirt actually designed it and is into bee's and their survival. I have his contact information. If you are interested in aquiring a shirt like his just drop me a note in the comment section below and I will get it to you..
  7. Hi Jeromeb and WELCOME!!!! Love your scoot brother and LOVE the pic of the three of you getting ready to go out and CTFW (that was a dearly departed close friend of ours named Yammer Dan's way of saying Chase That Front Wheel)!! GORGEOUS PICTURE = THANK YOU FOR SHARING!! Just an FYI on the RSV slow speed handling techniques and that all that from an ol wanna be,,,, there has been a fair amount of tinkering/adjustin happened around this joint concerning both setting up the bike and ride methods by some of the best of the best IMHO... My wife Tip and I had the pleasure of riding one of those finally tuned machines (as shown in the video below) and were very well pleased with it's capabilities - the vid was done 2 up and still loaded down for touring.. This bike belonged to a lop eared varmint named @videoarizona who stopped in and spent a few days with us here in Michigan.. "VAz" (that's what I call David/VideoArizona) has spent a fair amount of time setting up his scoot and I am sure,, like many other lop eared varmints on the site, he would be more than happy to share his experience in setting his scoot up.. Glad to see you folks naming your bike brother!! THAT is something I have personally pushed for years around this joint as I still think our bikes have feelings too and no bike with feelings wants to be known as just "bike" ,,, that's just not right!!!! Puc
  8. FEELING FOR YA BROTHER!!!! Gotta say though,,, All this about chain saws and how dangerous they are.. I am with you Ready,,, between the two dangerous devices (trees and chainsaws),, I have had much worse experiences with the trees themselves that has led me to believe that trees neither like to be cut on or climbed on... Thinking back on my short life of heating our home with wood for over 30 years that cut, hauled and hand split,,, one of my worst experiences involved dropping an old, dryed out Popular tree.. There it stood,, straight as any perfectly vertical arrow could be and deader than a dried out bull frog that didnt make it off a road in time... I cranked up my 16 inch Husky, blipped the throttle a couple times and proceeded to sink its hand sharpened chain into the tree like a I hot knife thru cold butter... So smooth was it all going that I was totally shocked when about 2/3rds of the way thru the tree I ran into a dead spot that allowed the fresh cut tree to slide side ways and drop vertically directly on top of my left foot... I had always been told that Poplar and other softwood trees are no where near as heavy as Oak or the like. Not sure that either my left foot or my internal OWY meter agree with that... Prayers Up and heal fast my friend!!
  9. Yep,, we sure did VAz,,, and,,, IMHO,,, not a pretty picture.. Having experienced riding down a few of these puppies with flat has taught me a couple of things,, one of them being that givin the choice,, I prefer to never have to do that again so I like to make sure those rim beads are clean as a whistle when I spoon on a new tire,, just another IMHO of course.. Personally,, due to the low prices on some really awesome shoes,,, if the tire had been rolled enough to pop a bead once it was flat,, I wouldnt risk it,, I would replace it and this time I would stick a Shinko 230 Tourmaster on it - they have earned the spot in being my favorite bargin bin tire,,, just another of my opinions I reckon.. Due to what I am reading here,,, while swapping on the new tire and in the process of cleaning up the wheel,, as shown in one of the attached vids,, I would also replace the valve stem.. I know there will be tons of opinions on does and don'ts on this process too but what I show has worked for me over a few tire swaps...
  10. Tip and I have always enjoyed Ghost Towning our way across the vast western U.S. and we were glad to find out that, while Benton Hot Springs is not actually a Ghost Town,,, Trooper really seemed to enjoy exploring old western towns and history as much as we. Benton Hot Springs in California is a treasure of a spot for folks like the 3 of us!!
  11. I am sure that most people have a "bucket list" in life (a place/item or accomplishment they hope to access before life's journey below is over). My fight with cancer and a discussion with a surgeon pertaining to that fight was just cause to kick in my own thoughts about my personal bucket list. What resulted was my ownership of a Yamaha R1 motorcycle which I aptly named "Maggie" due to it's amazing ability to fill my beat up old body with adrenaline similar to the way the "Magnum" roller coaster at Ceder Point in Sandusky Ohio used to do. Tip, Trooper and I discovered some of those same feelings along 120 that runs from Mono Mills (located on Mono Lake on the east side of the Sierra Nevada's) over to Benson in southeastern California!! Whether by car or by bike = those feelings of weightlessness and reverse G-Force that one encounters on a roller coaster are all there waiting to be discovered!!! YEEEE HAWWWWW - Get out and ride and GET OUT AND RIDE 120!!
  12. Tip and I had heard from a very reliable source (our daughter) that Shelter Cove California was/is a world class whale watching location so we headed that way. Little did we know that the trail leading from Redway down to Shelter Cove, an amazing little coastal town with black sand beaches, would also be world class in it's gorgeous views and driving opportunities!!
  13. OUTSTANDING ya lop eared Slimy Crud chop riding flat black lovin varmint!!!!! SOUNDS LIKE A BLAST!!!:thumbsup: Sic em Zag and that GORGEOUS 1 off Black Beast scoot of yours drags home that 1st Place trophy brother!!!!
  14. Having covered over 1 million miles in 31 years while tent camping off the back end of a motorcycle in areas all over the lower 48 states of our country and many parts of Canada, we thought we had accomplished something by being able to drop the tent and be inside of it within 5 minutes of stopping the bike. We never dreamed of an easier, faster "camp routine" but have truly discovered it. Simply pull in, put the saddlebags (now duffle bags) on the front seats and slide the seats forward. Move the sleeping boards with bags on them forward, climb in, push the lock button on the fobs (hit the AC or Heat if ya need it) and nod for the night!! Having done that, I can honestly say the early morning wake ups such as this one over looking the Pacific Ocean have not changed - PARADISE right out side!!!
  15. Having discovered this knarly, switchback infested, no guard rail cliff hanging endless hairpin turning, bicycle trail width in spots, +50 mile pathway thru the Redwoods roadway that runs eastwardly from Stewarts Point CA on Hwy 1 over to Gyserville, many years ago,, it was a very seldom occasion that we made the trip to the west coast on our touring bike that we didn't take the time to ride this trail that embarasses the likes of "The Tail Of The Dragon" just one more time and our initial voyage in that direction with our new Sports Car named Trooper played out no differently!! Trooper did just SUPER in this environment and his Sport Mode was a blast here!! We have shared the secret of Skaggs Springs Road with many touring riders in the past and now eagerly expand the encouragement to "Get Out And Ride" that trail with our fellow Micro Motor Home travelers too!!
  16. GORGEOUS SCOOT WIZ!!!!! Congrats on being able to get back in the saddle and also on doing so after such a traumatic experience!!!!
  17. While I was shopping at Walmart in Galt California for some 0w20 Full Synthetic Oil for Trooper,, some low life was outside working on sneaking inside of him!! If it weren't for the fact that my wife had called me and asked me to jump back in Trooper to bring her some baby formula for our newly born grandson, those nasty bad guys may have gotten away with something! THANKFULLY all the damage that was done was some scraping on the paint to the little cover that hides Troopers emergency door lock!!
  18. For us gear heads, there is something very special about doing the very 1st oil change of a brand new vehicle. Trooper came from the new car dealership with a free 1st oil change offer but, being 3k miles from Betten Baker Hyundai in Muskegon at the time that his oil change need presented itself eliminated that option (I would have done it myself anyway - it's a guy thing,,,,, sort of like asking those fine people at the Dealership to leave Troopers stickers on so I could remove them LOL). All went well and Trooper came thru it all like a trooper!!!
  19. I know what cha mean Dave, my current need to sleep at any given moment has really put a crimp in our life style concerning bike touring so you can imagine my when I found the "Prius Camping" video's on YouTube a few months ago that started this long process!! I was shocked to learn that the Ioniq actually has more space in the back PLUS it also operates it AC off the battery pack so the internal temps can be controlled endlessly over night too = just like a full sized motorhome only LOTS cheaper!! We spent a couple nights down in Organ Pipe Cactus N.P. with night tempts in the 100's and inside tempts at 70 (SLEPT LIKE A BABY ) and can verify that two nights of AC cost less than 1 gallon of gas = INCREDIBLE!!! Now,, instead of:cry: over the prospects of our touring days being cut short,, we are about all the places we want to go/see that we were limited to because of Jeff and his Wisconsin White Washer and other weather concerns... You should have seen us LAUGHING at a HUGE Rocky Mountain Thunder Storm up at 9000 feet in 36 degree tempts = I am sure the other tourist thought we were crazy....... Look out Alaska!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. So here's basically how it all works,,, at least it still does around here brother... After doing the research,, taking the physical measurements so I knew Trooper could easily sleep two and double checking my data concerning warranties (the Hyundai has some remarkable factory warranty stats like 10 year/100k on drive train and life time on the battery = NOT the typical Extended Warranty nonsense either,, this is ACTUAL factory warranty) and doing pricing,, I grabbed a handful of 100 dollar bills to produce the feeding frenzy scent needed to get the wheels moving and went shopping.. As I had advised many people buying new scoots,, I also waited till I knew the new models would be on their way to the dealerships so we would be dealing on a new "left over" 2018 and also for the last week of the month knowing the sales persons would be anxious to meet quotas.. Worked great!! After a good full day of cross shopping for the bid process (gathering quotes) I produced exactly the color and car we wanted being shipped to the dealership we wanted (I LOVE staying local so I can develop a good, regular relationship with a dealership right out my back door).. In the end, thru a little bit of hard work,,, spending time saving up the cash and NEVER considering or mentioning a "trade in" in the process and CONSTANTLY reminding those sales people that we were talking CASH = we got the exact car we wanted for just under 19 grand !!
  21. Maybe your IPad thing is in "Judge The Character Before Playing His Video's" mode
  22. WOW @dogman ,,, that is soooo awesome!!! 1st of all please allow me a huge THANK YOU for your many years of service in keeping our societies here in North America safe and sound my brother!! Your amazing focus on and love for both raising and training those very special crime fighters thru the years has DEFINITELY been appreciated by more people than you can imagine and Tip/I are part of them.. We just got in from an amazing journey along our southern border where we had the pleasure of watching some of your work in action = REMARKABLE doesnt even come close to what the specialized type of service you did has done in keeping us all safe = THANK YOU DAVE and a thank you to those many special that served you beside you too!!! Here:beer: my friend is to a longgg and enjoyable and completely full life of retirement my brother!! As already mentioned and seconded fully by yours truly,, YOU DESERVE IT (and so does Bernie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)! Love you guys!! Puc and Tip
  23. I hear that brother!! I kind of got myself painted into a corner on this one.. I went and step on some toes in sharing my overzealous opinion about the new Venture which ended up producing some not so friendly text messages on my phone which Tippy seen and went which ended up getting me on a short leash for sharing some personal things concerning the off spring and their familmy (my getting me beat up is one thing but any chance of those problems surfacing into our off springs lives is a whole nother matter).. You know me Carl,, I have no less than 12,000 pictures and 8 hours of video and it is sooooooooo hard for me to keep my :happy65:over opinionated,, super proud grampa !!!! I guess I will just have to pay the forum fines for no pictures this time (oh well,,, whats one more year on probation )!!
  24. somebody decided to start a revolution with that Evolution!!! Now THAT is what I am talking about divey!!!!! And you KNOW I would ABSOLUTELY be PROUD to be the 1st to ride that puppy!!!!
  25. Back at cha Kretz!!!!! "Trooper" our brand new Hyundai Ioniq Micro Motor Home/Sports car/mountain goat now has just under 10,000 miles on him in less than 3 weeks!! One of the HUGE things that I am still in shock with is traveling over 600 miles on less than 10 gallons of gas - thing is INCREDIBLE!! There are other things I still dont get,,, Troopers little motor has a compression ratio of over 13:1 but is spected at 87 octane that he LOVES!! The ability to sleep during the day when my cancer fatique hits was imparitive for keeping us CTFW and we were THRILLED to find this capibility but WOWZY WOW WOW WOW -finding it in a vehicle that Tip could drive while I sleep PLUS getting this kind of MPG is just mind boggling!! Hyundai DEFINITELY has my :thumbsup: on this one so far!!!!!!!!!!!!
