Well that really stinks:mad:.. I always thought Ammo was pretty much the untouchable part of the 2nd Amendment out there on the West Coast, guess I was wrong.. No wonder my Son-In-Law out in Sac got all and gave me the :thumbdown:when I mentioned picking up a few hundred rounds of ammo giving it to him for his birthday ... Dont sound good there brother.. Speaking about shootin, Tip and I JUST got in from doing some shooting. She done popped her very first clay pigeon EVER.. Really really proud of her as it was the very FIRST pigeon I tossed!! She done did FINE!! These modern day fiber optic light gathering front sites are MARVELOUS for a person like her who has worn glasses all her life.. That women is AMAZING!!!!

Now we're talkin REAL Cowboy stuff Sly:thumbsup:!! Having never been much of a horse ridin varmint (my sisters had em though and played with em some, personally I always liked my dirtbikes cause I didnt have to feed em or shovel their poop) I have a question concerning the matter that I have always wondered about.. Dont horses get a skidderish when you touch off a round between the ears on those lop eared varmints ?

Living in Michigan and dealing with the likes of FlyinFool and his WWW for many years now, I have had tried different types torpedo heaters to meet the same daunting needs Cha. While I don't know your areas weather stats, I do know that in our area a smaller heater like that is basically a waste of cash. I have a 170000 BTU Kerosene model that is a multi fueler. I have used it for everything from thawing pipes, working on cars and stuff outside, heating the house for a short spell during furnace repairs, convincing tires that refuse to stretch over a wheel by heating them up that they dont wanna play such games and on and on. Plainly, the smaller units just can't compete in OUR enviroment. Looking back at the different things I have tried in my endeavor to stay warm, I can honestly say that I probably should have just saved my pennies right at the beginning and went big. Another thought, expeirence has also taught me that when using my unit to pre-heat our garage for winter work fun, I will open the garage door to the height of the heater, such outside air into the heater, turn it on and let it run for a 1/2 hour or so and even in the coldest of tempts outside, the inside of the garage will become VERY comfortable and I can shut the unit down - close the door and go to work. It does not matter which type you by, you want to be careful about working in an enclosed area with no fresh air for any length of time. Carbon Monoxide is really nasty stuff and, even though you cant smell it or see it,, it is there and can take your life. Even if you go with the propane, I admonish you to make sure you source fresh air on the input of your machine. Puc

Got that right,,, I was just outside and,,, HERE WE GO AGAIN = MORE WISCONSIN WHITE WASH FALLIN AS I TYPE!! According to that lop eared hamster Pucstiyawny Phil varmint,, we got that Fool on the run .. Pretty soon him and and his pal Frosty will be nothing but a distant melted memory as we play along the Lake Shore shooting our shooters and ridin our scooters . Speaking of that,, am I the only one who has practiced that old cowboy routine of shootin from the saddle?? Used to lay clay pigeons in the field (we lived in the sticks with 5000 acres of State Land = also my property from my perspective) and shoot at em with my handgun while in motion Life is grand,, get out and grab a handful of it!!!

@Flyinfool asked about what I used to bust concrete during my past Sump Pump installation days. Here is a short summary of how that went and what I ended up with. After pricing out actual Jack Hammer rental fee's for the project, being as frugal as I am and as in love with having my own tools, I went out looking for prices on one of those teeth shaking, toe breakin, body rattling monsters. After being SHOCKED at what one of those air powered things I have seen street workers riding around on cost - I made my way to Harbor Freight just to see what they offered. I ended up purchasing the Hand Held Hammer/Hammer drill and a set of Masonry Bits for the machine. What you see in the attached pictures is what I came home with. Been a few years but as I recall, the price of this little jewel was VERY reasonable IMHO. Matter of fact, the unit price was almost exactly what the charge would have been for a rental with the 3 piece masonry bit set price kicking me just over Jack rental costs I had been quoted. Jeff, our home is fairly new so the concrete work (it has poured walls and basement floor) is to money concious spec. I have done a little bit of building thru the years and am pretty sure that whoever the contractor was that poured the floor in the basement used the old "2x4" on its side to screet off the sand before pouring in an effort to not over use concrete. In some older homes that I have remodeled and ended up busting up concrete therein - I didnt always find that to be case and have ran into some pretty thick stuff = LOTS MORE WORK. That said, this unit worked GREAT on my basements 3 1/2 inch crete. I found that using the Point to get started in making a hole worked best and then moving on to the smaller chisel you see in the pics. This thing cut like butter once I learned to let it do the work.. I dont think it would be quite as effective on thicker footing work or real thick floors though.. Just a thought. Here are the pics. Hopefully this helps in your decision making and/or anyone else facing such needs. Puc

Actually, the way the 22lr Bolt Carrier Group is built, it does not allow for leaving anything in the chamber when you remove it to drop in the 556 BCG. It has what appears to be a perfectly machined stainless 556 "cartrige" permenantly attached to the end of the BCG so it all comes out as one unit. As mentioned in my latest P.M. about ammo seeker Sly, we actually got some shooting in today. I still have not received my test ammo for the 556/223 rounds (I ordered a big variety of everything from steel cheapy stuff to higher end ammo to shoot for group. Hoping it finds accuracy on the cheap steel stuff but one never knows - I HAVE NO INTENT ON GETTING BACK INTO RELOADING) but we did get to run some cheap Thunderbolt lead bullets (definitely no more than 1150 ft ps - 2 cents a round) thru it and all is AWESOME as far as function! Now I am going hunting for a drum feed for it to match my dual feed 100 round mag I have for the 556. Hopefully I can find one cause stuffing 22 shells into these 25 round mags that came with the conversion is already getting old. Thankfully my Tippy is always willing to help!! She is quite the lady!! By the way,, we found 90 packs of Clay Pigeons at Walmart for 6 bucks a box, grabbed 3 boxes of those. Getting ready for the WARM spring weather to hit as soon as that FlyinFool gets tired of being a pest .

NICE @tufftom4,, REALLY REALLY NICE!!! We are still in frost bite land here on Michigan's West Coast and I am still building on the AR15.. This FINALLY came in today!! I did manage to get my new trigger installed into the lower receiver just before this arrived. I am really excited to get it on a bench rest and see how the 22lr's work thru it. I have a brick of Aquilla's, a brick of Mini Mags and a couple hundred CCI Velocitor's coming for it but it would be AWESOME if it would run on those cheapy Thunderbolts like I run thru my MK1 - I got a few thousand of those things laying around. You ever check out "Ammoseek.com"? It's an AWESOME ammo buying search engine, VERY POWERFUL!! Here,, here's a link: https://ammoseek.com/ammo/22lr I buy a lot of ammo off there as well as off following Gunbroker.. I just landed a thousand rounds of 556 green tip (military spec penatrators) military over runs (brand new, brass casings and 62 grain) for 200 bucks = 20 cents a round.. I got it from the same seller that I picked up the 200 grain FN's I been running in my 1911.. Nothing like talking guns on a sub zero windchill COLD winter night

Hey Jeff, didnt I read that the Gas Company was working above the area you are now having issues with? Many years ago we had a colvert under our driveway that served the county drain (a creek) system. We had an ice storm similar to what we got going on right now and the power dropped off. Consumers Power had to cross our acreage to get back onto the 5000 acres of State Land to do a BUNCH of work to get clear lines. About 3 months later we got a big slug of rain and we ended up with an artisian well kind of fountain shooting up out of our driveway as the water flowed under the culvert.. After things calmed down, knowning something was obviously wrong, I looked into the culvert and notice a section of it internally had caved in.. I looked into renting the equipment (looked like FUN to me) to dig it up and replace it and, like you, got quotes from a couple contracters. One of them mentioned that something big had to have crushed the culvert.. I mentioned Consumers coming thru with their equipment. The contracter suggested a phone call to the Power Company.. A quick call to them, couple weeks later they showed up with a bunch of high end stuff and about 2 hours later a brand new culvert was installed, they even lined the "creek" with broken concrete (NICE) and reseeded the area.. PLUS,, I got a HUGE thank you from them for being patient with them in fixing it..

WOWZY WOW WOW WOW = a HUGE thank you for the offer brother!! Why ohh why did you and I have to end up with this +40 mile wide pond between us? Thinking of how much fun we could have (and trouble we could into) if we actually lived across the street from each other!!! Thanks Jeff, I REALLY do appreciate the thought!!

My MK1 had NO problem cycling the cheap stuff like Thunderbolts for many thousands of rounds. Then it slowly started demanding the more expensive plated bullets (instead cheap all lead, uncoated). I keep it clean (simple little arm on the back of the grip = pull it down and out, slide the action out and go to town). I found out that by keeping my magazine clean too REALLY helped for a long time. Then I finally ended up buying a new magazine for it and then it went right back to normal.. They (the MK1's) seem to really like the tightness of the a new mag.. Something to consider..

Now THAT is plain pure raw simple antaginisticly wrong = filed under a flyinFOOLishness level of . We are COVERED in a 1/2 inch of ice here. Power dropped off several times during the night as a result of that lop eared evil varmint across the pond tinkering with his +32 chemical mix for high tempt White Wash,, just naught,, pure naughtiness ! Sounds like you southners REALLY got it going on brother:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: If I was down there I would skip the working and sweating part, grab Maggy the R1 and take er out to her "race track" to see if she can still straighten those curves.. Wont be long now,,, just a few more weeks!!

NOW WE'RE COOKIN WITH HOT GREASE RADAR!! GORGEOUS!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup: -
Feeble is as feeble does my brother!! But not so feeble we don't enjoy the shooting AND making em run!!! Sounds like you got a REALLY good keeper sprouting there Sly! Definitely on the right track as far as I am concerned! What's the gunsmith charging you to cut a new dove tail? THAT sounds AWESOME!! I got a Ruger MK1 22 that I picked up brand new back in the early 70's that has had a couple gazillion rounds run thru it but still a good shooter that I been thinking of have drilled and tapped to toss on a couple little Picatanny strips on so I could put a decent set of mounts on it. See,,, feeble really is as feeble does brother,,, YOU inspired me right back Sly:thumbsup:... I wonder if I am to feeble to take my verniers and scribe a lite center line down the top of a receiver, lay the picatannies on the line and center punch the holes, drill and tap it all on my own

Never was that big on the whole bowling thing,, kinda boring BUT,, I gotta say,, THAT method of bowling Fool - I LIKE:missingtooth:.. YOU is my kinda people @Flyinfool,,, naughty in an ice in the veins sort of way = especially if your of the Bowling Pin breed Just grabbed a stainless 22lr drop in BCG (Bolt Carrier Group) and conversion mags for the Wylde Chambered 556 AR I am building on an Ebay auction = CHEAP (75 bucks)!! Pretty cool looking outfit.. Figured with .22lr and 556/223 being the same diameter the probabilty of seeing some form of accuracy is better than 60%. Here is the one I got coming, take a peek at the design.. Notice the 556 "empty" stuck on the end of the BCG.. INGENIUS you engineers are!!

THAT is absolutely GORGEOUS @Moonshine:thumbsup:!!!! NICE WORK!! Gotta admit though,, I tend to lean (pun intended) more in Jacks direction on this one.. Probably wayyy to old school for our own good that @Condor and I -
Yeah,, Tip and I been pretty radical about the whole "get a job and stand on your own two feet" thingy.. Matter of fact,, so bad that once while crossing the country on our 1st first gen my oldest daughter, who was 10 at the was meandering thru the tourist trap shops at Wall Drug where she had been listening to music on one of thier headphones at a CD stand when she handed me the headset and said: Listen to this dad,, its all about you!!. Below is the song she was listening to(makes me tear up everytime I hear it) .. Back to the point I was trying to make to Cha though,, Unfortunately, as Chet told Monty Walsh in one of my favorite cowboy movies: NO ONE GETS TO BE A COWBOY FOREVER.

I am sooo proud of you Cha that I could scream but I gotta tell ya,, if there is one thing life has taught me it's to never say never (I say that in a very positive sense my brother). A short Puc story.. Ever heard or listened to Dave Ramsey? Well, your ol buddy Puc (and his lovely bride Tip) was Dave Ramsey on steroids wayyy before Dave Ramsey ever came on the scene. We successfully lived a life of paying CASH for everything, included houses (left home when I was 15 with a dollar in my pocket and a shirt on my back and by the time I was 23 I owned my first home free and clear - payed 10 grand cash for it and started putting cash into it to prepare it for marriage and a family), cars, bikes and on and on. Neither my wife or I ever had a credit card of any sort, never been in debt. Tippy also has never worked outside of our home (she home schooled our 4 kids though so she worked wayyyy harder in life than I EVER did), by her AVID couponding and frugalness (taught our kids to shop Goodwill and the like,, pretty interesting really cause right now we have a family member who is well above the 6 digit income and that "child" STILL shops Goodwill on a regular basis and makes HUGE $$ donations to assist others in becoming REAL Americans who are self dependent/reliant) and thru living by the simple principle of living within our means and by the grace of God, I remained the sole "bread winner" throughout our married lives. Granted,, there were sometimes when we lived in unfinished homes and had to work on our own used cars, bikes and remodel the homes we lived in and, even the kids at very early ages painted walls, hung drywall, learned to do brake jobs and change oil in their own cars,, I guess if a person leans more toward the left politically my wife and I would be considered evil or something,, we were that horrible in our expectance of our offspring to gradually learn to stand on their own two feet.. You probably dont have to read between the lines here to KNOW that I personally uddered your exact words MANY times over about EVER and NEVER buying a new car:beer:. A new bike? Ohhh heck yeah:big-grin-emoticon:,,, I have bought MANY (for cash) but only a few before we were married and started our family and NEVER borrowed for one:Cartoon_397:. All brand new after we married were business related and part of business inventory. Now,, fast track to these years that Tip and I find us in - I call this "Phase 6".. The mind may always be willing to continue on in entrenched lifes idea's but the body doesnt necessarily always agree with the mind. Being now further down the pipe of Phase 6 of life has taught me somethings about my past ideas.. My house building/oil changing/bike/car/tractor/wash machines/clothes dryer fixing days are pretty thin these days (YOU would have loved Tippies old wash machine Cha - had a Maytag topend and a Whirlpool bottom end - IT WAS BAD TO THE BONE!!) cause my hands/knees/heart/neck/lower back/toes and even teeth all got together and decided to go on an extented vacation and I gotta tell ya,, I really dont think they have any notion of returning to service:fishin:. With that in mind and with a pocket full of cash from living the life style of living within our means,, think of how luring a new car that gets 60 mpg with a 10 year Warranty and lifetime warranty on the battery (Hybrid BUT, the 12 volt battery for starting the engine is even part of the Hybrid "Pac" which carries a lifetime warranty) for 10 thousand dollars less than a new Touring bike would be:detective:. As hard as it was,,, I/we caved.. But,,, and this is HUGE,, at this point (haven't bumped into the taking it in for warranty work YET - GET AWAY FROM ME MURPHY!! I SWEAR I WILL DRILL A HOLE IN A FENDER AND HANG A GREMLIN BELL ON THIS THING IF I HAVE TO!!) this is one "cave in" that we are 100% enjoying everytime we go anywhere! My advice,, work hard, stay FAR away from socialist ideas (for more "Puc thought on this - take a second and watch the video below) and getting hooked on anti-American - family destroying - entitlement living of any form (stand on the two feet the Lord gave us, trust Him - not the Guvment), live within your means but dont forget about the future.. Maybe put some $$ aside, even 10 bucks a week if your just starting out, for Phase 6 cause one never really knows when he/she may have to eat a little crow (I have ate my share in life Cha - Crow is really pretty tasty if ya cook it right:missingtooth:) and cave in to lifes demands.. Something to think about I reckon.. Puc Life in nutshell:

Hearing that brother!! I would say if ol Skidder tucks his blonde pony tails under his hat before he gets his tooken for the card,,, then he holds a higher than average chance at pulling this off!! ALL THE BEST ON THE ELECTION SKID!!! HOPE YOU GET IT!!

NICE TY!! REALLY NICE!!

Indeed, Parts Nation shows the "washer" as a "gasket" and that is still available (pricey,, almost 8 bucks) but the bolt they show as not available. I did a quick cross check to see if the V-Max parts were they same (they made them well into the 2000's, a huge PLUS if looking for parts) and everything but the 3 digit Suffix matches,, I would say it is possible they would interchange. Might be worth checking with a Yamaha dealership and see if you could find one in stock to compare to if someone around here don't have one they could send you off a parts bike and/or you want to go OEM.. Here is where I got my info.. https://www.yamahapartsnation.com/oemparts/a/yam/50043596f8700209bc78be67/front-fork

If I am reading this correctly what you are looking for may be the bolt that screws into the bottom of the fork and can only be removed after you pull the axle? If it's what I am thinking of and it serves the same function as my older MX bikes forks (pre inverted forks), that bolt screws into the internal tube that houses the forks dampening valving/shims where the fork fluid passes to create the damping. As the hydraulic fluid (fork oil) is doing its thing and moving around the internals of the fork tube/fork lower it will pick up metals given off by wear. It is possible that those magnets are to collect those metal particals to help keep the fluid clean,,, possibly,,, maybe.. If what I am thinking holds any merit (again, take this with a grain of salt considering the source), then it is also possible that someone had to use a high speed air gun with an allen bit in it to get the screw to spin out/spin in as, in my experience, there is nothing internally that keeps that tube where the valve stack is from spinning once the screw is loosened. Using a high speed air gun to spin screws out can be hard on screws, especially the heads and threads. It might not be a bad idea to look closely at what you have removed and see if the washer (number 16) is a copper one? If so, it also might not be a bad idea to replace this with another copper crush washer and make sure that what ever bolt you use has a good clean cut shoulder on it where the washer sets as that area may be serving like an oil pan plug on a car. Also make sure the shoulder where the washer contacts the lower leg above the axle is good and clean when you put it all together so your finished job does not leak fork oil... Puc
