When I had my first gen it came with a big tall wide windshield. I hated it. I traded with a member at Potato Creek for a smaller one and was able to look over it. For me that was great. The wind did increase a little but I liked that as well.

Missing in one cylinder
sarges46 replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I would check/replace your spark plugs and wires first. If they are original they could be the problem. Easiest job first. The controller or tci/cdi is located under the battery box. If you can remove it and check those connections and clean em up that might make it right. It is a flatish rectangular box. They are expensive to buy if you can find one and ebay ones are risky. And the 83 is a box of its own, no other year will work if memory serves me right. Some also remove the box and dry it. They do get damp over the years and corroded. Once cleaned up some have mounted it on top of the air filter I believe. The coil for that cylinder could be shot too.- 7 replies

You should hear what it sounds like with headsets on! I do know that it blasted out the horns as well.....cause the lady that was coming to visit my lane (with me beside her) sure stopped and turned just enough for me to miss her when I blasted! Ft.Collins close call.

Inexpensive Rear Spoiler with Build In LED lights
sarges46 replied to Obber's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
This item just came this evening. No extra charges for me this time coming across the border! Looks good, it will fit the trunk with the rack on it (2nd gen). Black is a very close match. Feels kinda cheap but then ya gotta remember it is only plastic. The cable is not the longest but should be doable. This does look good just holding it in position. There are no instructions on wiring or mounting so I have to figure that out. It may not get done in time for the trip....I will take it with me for folks to look at. For the price....I believe it is a good compromise to the way more expensive Yamaha spoiler.- 31 replies

sarges46 replied to 6pak's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Its used mostly in cages. It is slicker....therefore more conserving I guess. Plays havock on bike wet clutches. -
clutch got me stumped
sarges46 replied to 6pak's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You're not by any chance using "energy conserving" oil are you? Cant use that stuff as it causes clutches to slip. -
No they dont but you can fix that....follow this post http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=489

Looking for fuses
sarges46 replied to jryan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I could have a look up here for ya if you wish. Lets make that....I will have a look up here.....this seems to be a problem for our folks south...maybe our stores still have em. You could change the whole fuse box to the new style stab fuses. There is some tech stuff on that I believe. -
Oil level light
sarges46 replied to resqmedic02's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It could be nothing that a resolder job on the puter in the display wont fix. Thats all I can think of at this hour! Sorry. Maybe a sensor inside is not going up with the oil level? -

sarges46 replied to clav_guy's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk

They sound like the same size...I just quickly measured with the cooler still on it and my eyes might not have seen exactly. My cooler is fairly small and fits with room for a bigger one...which I will check to see if one our other ones will fit.

Jack What are the dimensions of the rack for yours...mine is 14 1/4" wide and 21 1/2" long on the xl piggybacker. Thats inside measurements.
