newbie gas mileage question
sarges46 replied to mcdds86's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Seafoam works great. I would ensure that the carbs are synced and you dont have bad diaphrams. The bike will run real good with only three cylinders or even with bad diaphrams but your gas mileage will suffer. The extra weight with the kit on will also make the mileage go down but I'm not sure it would be that low. -
Great dealer. I have bought several things from them. Had to return one item that would have been too small for Marilyn. No problems. They have great service and great deals in there closeout sections. Last years stuff but is still new to me so why pay for the newest when I'm gonna wear it for years anyhow.

You need to contact e-fishin-c.....he is a fishing hound. Charlie loves to fish and it dont matter what kind or when.

I've hit two birds while riding a bike....one in Ft Collins got me on the toe and the other many years ago got me, at speed, in the shoulder. Took my left hand right off the grip and hurt like the dickens. This spring we were out riding and we "lost" sight of our friends behind us. Slowed down and stopped...he roared up shortly and said that they had hit a duck! The fairing took the blast and move his mirror some and he had some feathers. Lucky.

Its nice in that whole area. But, it is expensive and caters to wealthier folks. Ski season is nice but summer is great there as well. Been there for both. Dont go before the end of June if riding as the climate can change in a heartbest and you could wake up to snow one morning. Riding is very nice but keep in mind that area...is a major wildlife migration route and there are many large critters on the roads....anything from elk to grizzly bear...particularly in the early mornings and evenings around dusk.

What a great "rolling" journal you have kept up! I wish I had done that when I drove my bike home from Georgia this spring. Thanks and I am sure glad you are enjoying your new bike!

Oil Filter Adapter
sarges46 replied to ctraylor's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have one on my 1st gen. Its the rivco model and has nothing like you describe. I have had no issues except easier to change oil and cheaper filters! I have also never heard of any issues with this adaptor kit. -
Congrats... Slow start are normal but can be "fixed". Strong battery, new battery cables and spark plug wires. Ummm couple other cheap things to do if ya want to...do a a search when you get home....search slow start. Nice looking bike BTW....seat looks like a corbin.

We live in bald butt praire.....little in the way of twisties. Cold winters and hot summers, short riding season and lousy roads. One town has a mosquito as a statue! Cant wait to retire and go south for the winters.

An idea...maybe it won't fit for you, but one anyway. When my Dad died this spring we donated his car to a youth organization and they fixed the little things and then sold it. The tax donation receipt was included in Dad's final tax report my sister filled out. The group came and took the car away and she never had to deal anymore with it. So if money is not the object maybe you could at this in Tom's name? And, I cant remember if you've tried to sell it here or not?

Would a full helmet have made any difference?
sarges46 replied to Ladyrider's topic in Safety and Education
Sherry This is kind of gruesome...but if you need the closure...maybe try the coroner and see if those injuries are the ones that caused his death. He may be able to tell you the answers to the helmet question as well. But what ever tha case....take it easy on yourself and Tom...he was just riding and never wanted this to happen to either of you. We cant beat ourselves with all the "what ifs" that turn around in our mind although it is normal human nature. -
Thanks....got it.

Thanks Jeff Its good to hear that Gary is on the road to recovery physically....we wish him all the best. Yes things have changed for all of you....we wish only good things for you all.

Well...just in case you read the so-longs Pitbull.....its been nice sharing this site with you. I am po'd we didnt meet at Ft.Collins....that would be my fault as I am not a walk up and introduce myself type of guy....nor is the wife.

Good turn out from the group. I was thinking of this all during the week-end (we were out of town), and wishing we could be closer so we could attend.....we were there in spirit if nothing else. How is Gary? I've looked everywhere for more information but cant find anything.

Hand Held CB Microphone
sarges46 replied to dddeering's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have one for my 1st gen. Just plug it into where the headsets go. I did take mic in hand and used the button on it when communicating. -
I dont know about "WAM" but the ride will get alot more bouncy! Having failure so bad it causes you to wreck is not likely but you would feel it for sure. Many have rode with the bad shock (as long as it holds air) until the new ones arrived for replacement. Everyone is right.....you would think after all these years that they would have the shock so it doesnt fail.

Lowell I just checked out that site....thanks for posting it! It is very reasonable and sure has a variety of things to choose from! Maybe Santa will be real generous this year..(not that he hasnt been in the past!)
